Chapter 18

Redemption part one.

Shadow and Eclipse were in the weapons/tech lab where Shadow was awakened all those decades ago. Eclipse let go of Shadow then both walked towards a large table like slab of rock that had some broken laser guns on. They stopped in front of it and looked at the amount of damage the weapons were in, hoping they might be able to fix them somehow.

"Have you ever done anything like fix weaponry before Eclipse?" Shadow asked with a small frown at the guns, he never having done such a task before and knew nothing on how to start fixing a broken gun.

"Nope but how hard can it be brother?" Eclipse calmly replied as he gave the weapons a calculated thoughtful look.

"What are you both doing in here?" Black Death questioned with suspicion as he floated inside, having sensed the brothers in this area and came to investigate.

He only having arrived to the Black Comet and was on his way to see his lord and master. This made both Shadow and Eclipse tense up in surprise and quickly turn around to face Black Death, who stopped his approach and floated in the middle of the room.

"We erm, we were going to see if we can fix these weapons to show father we are still eager to help." Shadow said with some confidence while he looked up at Black Death.

"Yeah we may not be allowed to leave the comet but we can still assist in the invasion from up here." Eclipse added with a grin at the suspicious looking alien before him.

"And you both know how to do a task like this?" Black Death asked as he was starting to express amusement in his three eyes, knowing the two brothers do not have the knowledge in making/fixing weapons.

"Well not exactly." Eclipse anxiously laughed while glancing away briefly.

"Surly it isn't that hard to figure out, right?" Shadow said as he was not confident he and Eclipse will complete their little mission in this room.

"I do not approve of this." Black Doom announced after teleporting inside and floated next to Black Death, glaring down at his two sons.

"Is there anything we can do for you father?" Shadow asked with submissive features as he locked eyes with his creator/father.

"Yes father, we want to help in anyway we can." Eclipse added with similar features as Shadow, also looking up at Black Doom.

Black Doom gave a look of thought as he kept firm eyes on Shadow and Eclipse, wondering if they were planning something that will jeopardise the invasion or they honestly wanted to still assist in the invasion. He briefly looked into their minds then chuckled as there were no sinister plans in mind, just the plan to prove they were still loyal to him.

"I might have something special for you both to do but I am unsure if I can trust you to do it." Black Doom said with amusement as he saw his sons eyes light up excitement in this task.

"We can be, we will do anything to please you." Shadow said as he practically begged for this special task.

"Anything." Eclipse added with eagerness in pleasing his father, not caring what the mission will be.

"Alright, follow me." Black Doom said with a devious look in his eyes then turned and began to leave.

"I am suddenly getting a bad feeling about this special mission Eclipse." Shadow said inside of his brothers mind as they exchanged glances before following their father.

"I know what you mean." Eclipse replied back in Shadows mind and was hoping this mission wasn't going to be some kind of punishment in disguise.

Back on the planet below Sonic was standing on the wing of the X-tornado as Tails flew it towards Eggmans airships. They were quickly approaching and could just about see the air fleet up ahead of them.

"So what is the plan bro, smash and bash our way in?" Sonic asked as he spoke into his communicator, knowing he would never be heard without doing this.

"Yeah, not that we have a choice in the matter. I'll fly around and fire from the skies while you jump onto the ship and make your way to Eggman. Once you get the Chaos Emerald leave quickly and I'll pick you up." Tails replied in the same manner while he glanced briefly at Sonic.

"Got it. Lets get this over with as fast as possible then go help GUN protect the final emerald. Rouge said the Black Arms were on their way there in very large numbers." Sonic seriously said with determination in his eyes while keeping them on the fleet ahead, it getting bigger the closer they got to it.

"Yeah and maybe we should also try to find out where these aliens came from. If we can find out where they are then we can come up with a plan to go to them and stop this invasion with no more casualties on our end." Tails seriously said as he flew as fast as he could towards Eggmans battle airships.

"We also need to get the Chaos Emeralds from this Black Doom guy too and I'm guessing he is wherever they all came from." Tails added with determination.

"Agreed, I have had enough of this invasion and of these no good aliens." Sonic agreed with narrowed eyes of anger and was still feeling so furious with what happened to Shadow.

Black Comet, ten minutes later…

"It could be worse." Eclipse said as he tried to see a bright side to this special task.

"How so?" Shadow unhappily said as he glanced at his brother while on his hands and knees, scrubbing the comets floor around one of the many toxic pools with a squidgy looking sponge that once looked like it was a living creature at some point.

"We could be locked up until the invasion is over with." Eclipse nervously smiles at Shadow as he did the same task.

"Hm, you have a point. I'd rather this than that." Shadow grinned then looked back at what he was doing, making Eclipse grin back and do the same.

"One more thing I forgot to mention." Dooms eye appeared beside the two hard working brothers, making them pause and look up at it.

"When you have finished cleaning around all the toxic pools I want you to come to me straight away for I may have another task for you both to complete." Black Doom amusingly said through his third eye then called it back, it vanishing in an instant.

"How much are you betting this other task is more cleaning." Shadow sighed as he didn't enjoy cleaning but knew better than to protest.

"I hate cleaning, and it is such a time wasting chore. I would rather be out there fighting and winning." Eclipse sighed as he got back to work, figuring the quicker they did as their father wishes the quicker they would get to continue their roles in the invasion.

"I know, sometimes I wish we had like servants to do this for us." Shadow grumbled as he picked up the pace and cleaned quicker.

"Kind of makes you feel we are the servants doing this." Eclipse grumbled as he did not like the sound of that.

Just as that was said a Death Worm rose up from the nearby toxic pool with such a force more of the pools toxic liquid splashed onto the floors next to the brothers.

"Seriously!" Shadow shouted as he glared at his worm like brother while slowing down on his cleaning.

"Say Shadow, how about we make this more easier." Eclipse deviously said as he stopped cleaning and sat on the backs of his legs while grinning madly at Shadow.

"What do you have in mind, brother." Shadow smirked back as he looked back at Eclipse, having a feeling he knew exactly what Eclipse was going to suggest they do or more like what he should do.

With Sonic…

"Give it up Egghead, I have won!" Sonic called out as he stood near a broken large robot, it smoking and sparking in a few places.

Eggman glared down at the hedgehog with rage from his egg-mobil at being defeated by Sonic so quickly. It was only two minutes ago he sent down that robot and Sonic wasted no time in destroying it.

"Why don't you leave Sonic, there are more pressing matters at hand that need your attention. We are after all facing extinction from these aliens." Eggman spat out with anger while he kept eyes on Sonic.

"Well duh, why else would I be here for? I didn't come for a tea party ya know, I came for the emerald you have so they cannot get it." Sonic seriously said as he rolled his eyes feeling annoyed.

"I have the emerald safe from them and from you. No one will ever get it so leave!" Eggman shouted out as he felt insulted.

"Sonic, we have a situation." Tails' voice called out from Sonics communicator.

"What's up, I am almost done here?" Sonic replied back while never removing his eyes from an enraged Eggman.

"The Black Arms, they have teleported in large numbers onto Eggmans airships. I think they are after the Chaos Emerald too." Tails said and was sounding very concerned with the sheer numbers of the invading forces.

"I estimate there to be at least a hundred, maybe more, and they are armed too." Tails added as he started to shoot at them but most kept dodging out of the way and shooting back.

"Eggman you need to give me that emerald before they get it." Sonic seriously said with a hint of panic in his tone.

"Like I said they cannot…" Eggman confidently began with a smug grin but was interrupted.

"Master we are under attack and there are creatures heading towards the volt." Metal Sonic announced through the speaker inside of Eggmans egg-mobil.

"You were saying Egghead." Sonic growled with narrowed eyes up at the doctor.

"Stop them Metal and make sure they do not get that emerald." Eggman ordered firmly and was inwardly panicking the emerald will be taken from him meaning his plans to use it will not come to fruit.

"Where is the volt? I can help protect the emerald!" Sonic shouted up and was going to do what ever he could to make sure that emerald stayed away from Black Doom.

"It's located in the middle of this ship at the bottom level. It is right below us, three levels down." Eggman begrudgingly shared the location then watched Sonic grin and dash off.

"I will get that emerald back and when I do then all hell will break loose. First this alien invasion needs sorting." Eggman muttered to himself then manoeuvred his egg-mobil to leave as well.

The Black Comet…

"Yeah we are finished." Eclipse cheered as he and Shadow gave a high five while standing side-by-side, facing the very clean floors in this area.

"Since this is the last area we had to scrub I say we go to father now." Shadow grinned as stopping time was a brilliant plan.

With a nod in agreement Shadow chaos controlled himself and Eclipse to their father, who was with Black Death and both not aboard the comet. They appeared behind their father and next in command who were in some kind of viewing room facing the planet they were invading. The room was made of metal and quite large and this confused the brothers for they knew this was not the Black Comet yet knew there were still in space. Black Doom growled with rage as he sensed his sons behind him and turned around.

"How dare you both disobey and leave the Comet!" Black Doom shouted with anger while narrowing his eyes at his confused, yet now terrified, looking sons.

"We didn't mean to. You said once we were done to go to you." Shadow said with fear in his voice as he and Eclipse took a small step backwards while looking very sorry.

"Y-yeah, we didn't know you wouldn't be at home." Eclipse shakily said as he fearfully looked back at his father.

"You have finished already? I was not expecting you both to be done for hours yet." Black Doom seriously said with a suspicious look at his children, his anger slowly fading.

Both nodded to say yes they were and was simply waiting for their next orders while still expressing fear at their father regardless if Black Doom was starting to look less angry now.

"I see then a new task is needed. I have had word your brothers have located the next emerald and are in pursuit of it. Unfortunately the emerald is heavily guarded with many robots and are becoming a tad overwhelmed. I need you both to get that emerald while your brothers distract the robots and come back here. Do not fail me or I will remove you both from the invasion and have you on lockdown for a decade." Black Doom explained with all too serious features and watching both his sons nod then vanish to the planet below.

"I do not mean to be disrespectful but is this wise? They not long ago disobeyed and caused delays." Black Death bravely said as he watched Black Doom turn back around and look out of the large glass window.

"They will not fail me and will return with that emerald." Black Doom chuckled and was sounding highly confident in his claims.
