Chapter 19
Redemption part two.
The brothers appeared together very close to some kind of human base and out of sight. They exchanged looks briefly and both frowning a little before placing their eyes back onto the humans base.
"What do you suppose that place father and Black Death were on was?" Shadow asked as he was a little confused.
"I am not sure but if I had to guess some kind of space station belonging to these humans." Eclipse replied as he too was a tad confused for he didn't recall seeing that station when arriving.
"A space station, maybe it is this ARK place I was supposedly created on." Shadow seriously said as he too looked out ahead towards the base.
"It is possible but we are not going up there to snoop around. We are going to forget all about what was on that contraption and do as father says." Eclipse seriously said as he glanced at his brother with determination in making sure they never get into trouble again.
"Are you not a bit curious?" Shadow asked with a deeper frown while turning his head to look back at Eclipse.
"No." Eclipse growled with aggression, looking it too, and began to narrow his eyes at Shadow.
Shadow began to smirk as he could see a hint of curiosity in his brothers eyes and soon began to feel it. Eclipse rolled his eyes and shook his head, now losing his aggressive expression.
"Ok fine yes I am but it is not worth being on fathers aggressive side, he seems more calm now. Just forget about it and do what is asked brother." Eclipse sighed out as he confessed and feeling a little concerned Shadow will not heed his warning and go looking around the space station.
"I cannot argue with that. Shall we proceed?" Shadow chuckled lightly and was looking forward to charging into that base and getting that Emerald.
"Charging in with no plan?" Eclipse laughed as he figured Shadow would make a little plan before just going in.
"I have a plan, it's called rip the humans apart and get the Emerald for father. I think it is a wonderful plan don't you?" Shadow casually said with a wink at his brother.
"Loving the plan, whoever kills the most humans gets to give the Emerald to father." Eclipse smirked a little deviously.
"Oh you are so on brother." Shadow replied then both ran towards the base.
Meanwhile…
"Ok that is the last…for chaos sake, I just cleared the area!" Sonic said after killing the final alien then groaned as more appeared.
"Calculating fourteen new enemies." Metal Sonic said as it locked onto the new arrivals.
"Yeah, keep that kind of stuff to your self Metal." Sonic sighed with a shake of his head then dashed forward to get this job done.
"No, they destroyed my last robot minion. Hey, do you know how long it takes to build them!" Eggman said with rage as he floated above the fight and keeping out of the way.
"Hey, you still have Metal!" Sonic called out as he punched a large alien in the stomach, making it grunt and bend forward while holding where it was punched.
"This is true and maybe after this I should give Metal a little upgrade." Eggman muttered to himself as he kept his eyes on his robot creation fighting near the volt and ensuring no one was getting too close to it.
"Sonic, we have some more trouble. I have just heard from Rouge and they have new company. Shadow and Eclipse are at GUN's base and trashing their way through to get to the Emerald. It is a bloodbath and nothing is slowing them down." Tails said with high concern into his communicator as he shot at the Black Arms on the surface of the flying battle fleet.
"Right, when we are done here we will make our way there as fast as we can to help keep the Emerald safe. I am just glad at this point we have an Emerald." Sonic replied as he kept dodging shots and occasionally landing some powerful hits on the aliens attacking.
"It might take a while and they could have the Emerald by the time we get there. They could be long gone when things here are over with and back to wherever they live." Tails said with worry for losing another Emerald to the Black Arms.
"So what do you…whoa that was a close one. What do you think we should do exactly bro?" Sonic said as he was almost hit with a laser.
"I, I do not know. It is not like we can be in two places at once." Tails said with despair and was struggling to keep up the hope that this war will be won by them.
"I would leave but then they will get this emerald, Eggman only has Metal left to fight and defend the Emerald unless…hey Eggman I can make these Aliens leave if you give me the Emerald now!" Sonic said then had an idea to get the aliens to leave.
"And how can you possibly make them leave!" Eggman called down with a hint of curiosity in his tone.
"They are after the Emerald and if I have it and leave then they will follow me wherever I go!" Sonic explained as he kept fighting and alongside Metal.
"That's all well and said Sonic but where exactly would we go? We cannot make them follow us to GUN's base. We will end up doubling the aliens numbers if we go there." Tails said with concern that more over there will ensure a victory for the Black Arms.
"I know but this way Eggman can rebuild his robots and actually put them to good use. We are all in this together whether we like it or not. The planet and its people are at stake here, every hand on deck and all that." Sonic seriously said as he kicked an alien down and it went pop.
"I agree, I cannot dominate the world and build my empire if there is no empire to build. I will assist but as soon as this is all over with then it is back to being enemies!" Eggman called down with an all too serious look and sounding very much serious.
"You can have the Emerald then leave quickly but not too quickly these aliens get left here. Metal carefully get the Emerald and give it to Sonic. Do not let these aliens get it!" Eggman added with his tones and expressions unchanged.
Meanwhile…
"That is now sixteen for me and only fifteen for you brother. Are you losing your touch?" Eclipse laughed as he removed his hand from the human soldiers chest he just clawed through.
"I am not losing my touch." Shadow calmly said then threw a charged chaos spear to the side and struck a human dead with it, the human screaming as his chest half exploded from the impact.
"Now we are even, brother." Shadow smirked with amusement in his eyes as he and Eclipse locked gazes for a brief moment.
"For the moment but more are arriving." Eclipse chuckled darkly as more human soldiers came rushing in to this little open area the brothers were in.
Meanwhile, ten minutes later…
"Tails can't this thing go any faster, the flying ones are catching up quick!" Sonic said into his communicator, riding on the wing of the X-tornado, as Tails did his best to get to GUN's base quickly.
"I am going as fast as this plane will allow without going into overload Sonic. Cant you spin dash them?" Tails replied and was feeling very stressed with all this uncertainty.
"Yeah but will you be able to catch me at these speeds and stop me from going splat on the ground?" Sonic said back as they haven't been this fast while fighting in the air before and usually would be much more slower than super turbo mode they were currently doing.
"I, don't know, maybe. We haven't exactly fought in the air going this fast before. In fact I have never had to press the turbo button until now." Tails said with a sigh as he wasn't one hundred percent confident in being able to catch Sonic in time.
"Hey they are falling back!" Sonic said as he saw the flying Black Arms slow down until they were no longer chasing them both.
"That does not sound good." Tails muttered as he stole a quick glance behind them with a mirror that was attached to the plane.
"Sonic I don't like this, this feel wrong. Why would they stop chasing us when we have the Emerald they were after?" Tails said as he felt this sudden dread deep inside and it told him something very bad was coming.
"You don't suppose Eggman tricked us with a fake do you and still has the real Emerald?" Sonic asked with high concern for if this was the case and this was the reason they were no longer being chased then the Black Arms will end up with another Emerald.
"Would he do that in this kind of crisis? Yeah I am sure he would under normal circumstances but these are not normal circumstances and everyone's lives depend on us keeping the Emeralds away from Black Doom." Tails said as he keep his eyes front and was slowly able to see GUN's base coming into view.
"Especially when we don't even know why he wants them or where he is keeping the ones he has." Tails added with a small frown as now smoke was appearing in the far distance.
Meanwhile…
"Shadow why did you stop?" Eclipse asked as he too stopped running forwards through the base, turning to look back at Shadow.
"It is close, the Emerald, I can feel it. It's…this way." Shadow replied with a serious expression then pointed at a wall beside them.
"It is through a wall?" Eclipse asked with a raised brow while walking to stand next to his hedgehog brother.
"We can either go the long way or smash down walls to get to it quicker. I am sure father wants us to get it as fast as possible." Shadow amusingly said while glancing at Eclipse.
"I do believe you are right." Eclipse chuckles then took a couple of steps back as Shadow began to charge up a chaos spear to blast down the wall.
Shadow charged up his spear then flicked it at the metal wall. The spear collided with the wall and caused an explosion with pieces of metal shards flying in all directions, none hitting the brothers.
"Shall we proceed?" Shadow smirked as he glanced at his brother, watching Eclipse walk closer to him.
"We get the Emerald then I give it to dad since I am three kills ahead of you and robots do not count." Eclipse smirked with a wink at Shadow then both walked through the large hole in the wall.
"I still say they do but fine. I am sure there are more humans standing guard over the Emerald so I will be victor in this bet." Shadow casually said with a shrug as he and Eclipse kept walking towards the Emerald.
Meanwhile…
"Ok nice landing Tails but I don't want you to be around where it is dangerous ok. If something happened to you then I don't know what I will do." Sonic seriously said as he was now standing on the ground looking up at his brother with a pleading look to leave.
"Sonic I wont just leave you here to fight, I want to help in any way I can." Tails protested with a begging expression to be of some use.
"Bro please do not look at me like that…oh fine. Maybe you can hack their computers and figure out where these aliens came from. If I see Rouge I'll get her to confirm if this Emerald is a fake or not. Please be careful ok." Sonic said with a serious look then dashed off inside the base.
"Oh man those two do not mess around, it really is a bloodbath in here or more like a slaughter house." Sonic muttered as he dodged organic and mechanic body parts while doing his best to not slip on blood and oil.
With Shadow and Eclipse.
"We smashing up another wall brother?" Eclipse asked as they stopped and Shadow looked to their left at the wall.
"No. The Emerald is giving off two signals now." Shadow said with a deep confused frown, able to pick up on the signal he was following and another one that simply appeared out of nowhere.
"Maybe they are trying to confuse you or there are two Emeralds here." Eclipse theorised as he kept eyes on Shadow.
"I think there are two Emeralds here and far apart. No, the new signal is on the move and getting closer, closer to our location in a very fast manner." Shadow calmly said as he closed his eyes to concentrate on the new signal.
"How close is it Shadow, maybe we can split up and go after one each." Eclipse said and was going to go after this new Emerald that appeared, leaving Shadow to get the one they came for.
"It is so close now and, and right behind us." Shadow said with shock then opened his eyes and turned around, making Eclipse do the same.
"Hey guys, good to see you both. Have to say you both really do not mess around huh." Sonic said with a grin as he stood a couple of meters away from the brothers and having arms crossed.
"Eclipse go get the Emerald, it is just down this hallway and to the right. When you have it go to father and say I have found the next Emerald. I will not take long getting the Emerald from him." Shadow spoke to his brother through the link while giving off a neutral expression at Sonic.
"I do not feel comfortable with leaving you with him, we get it together or not at all." Eclipse seriously said inside of Shadows head and refused to do as Shadow said.
"So what gave that away, our mess from play time or the blood covering our hands?" Shadow casually replied to Sonic as he crossed his arms and grinned deviously.
"I will not allow him to twist me into going against father now please before we end up with no Emerald to give back to dad." Shadow spoke calmly and a little pleadingly inside of Eclipses head.
"We will have the one he has and we will do this together." Eclipse insisted with a firm tone in Shadows head.
"Yeah I saw the mess as I was running through the base. Did you guys even leave anyone alive?" Sonic said with a small frown and not looking happy with what the Black Arms brothers have done together.
"Fine but we do not kill him." Shadow gave up and was now going with Eclipse on this one.
"And why not? He is the enemy and needs taking out." Eclipse said with some confusion.
"Not as of yet we haven't and I do not apologise for that. We all came here to help and we get attacked so expect us to retaliate back." Shadow calmly said with some anger in his eyes as they locked with Sonics.
"Because he can lead us to the last Emerald." Shadow calmly said while he watched Sonic slowly start walking towards them.
Sonic stopped right in front of the brothers and was not looking happy with them.
"So you came to help, yeah I can definitely see you are helping here. You are all being a real huge help right now." Sonic sarcastically said with a roll of his eyes.
Then suddenly he gasped as Shadow grabbed his neck in a tight hold and slammed him into the wall, keeping that hold firmly in place.
"Now you listen and listen carefully hedgehog. I may have feelings for you, sick, disgusting feelings but I will not disobey my father again." Shadow aggressively growled as he tightened his hold on Sonics neck a little more.
"I-I know, and I-I forgive y-you." Sonic choked out as he was starting to get light-headed from the lack of oxygen.
"I-I forgive the b-both of you." Sonic added then his eyes rolled to the back of his head and fell limp.
Shadow quickly let go and watched Sonic fall to the floor, thinking he killed him by accident. Eclipse placed a hand on Shadows shoulder and squeezed it lightly before retracting his hand.
"The Emerald Shadow." Eclipse calmly said as he could sense his brother was hurting and growing sad with what he had to do to Sonic, praying their father didn't also sense it.
Shadow shakily bent down then searched Sonics quills carefully, noticing there wasn't a pulse to be felt. He did however feel something hard and grabbed it firmly before pulling it out. Shadow stood up, did his best to compose himself, grabbed Eclipses wrist and warped them away to their fathers location.
