(A/N): This is a tiny fluffy oneshot for tian/tuna, because she wanted a jakki hug without all the hurt that usually goes with it. I own nothing, as always.
Hug
Nikki stood at the kitchen counter, stirring her cup of coffee absentmindedly. It had been a slow few days, two natural cause cases for her, and Jack consulting on an arson case earlier in the week. All rather small, tame things, considering some of the things they saw and dealt with on a daily basis. Between them, they'd also managed to catch up on most of that week's paperwork, a definite achievement in itself.
She jumped in surprise as arms circled round her waist from behind, stiffening instinctively as large hands wrapped low round her waist. She soon relaxed though, recognising the frame and scent as being unmistakably Jack. Smiling softly, she leant back into his chest, feeling him rest his chin atop her head as her hands moved to cover his on her middle section, squeezing his arms gently.
Jack's arms tightened ever so slightly, ensuring she was as close as possible in his embrace. The world stilled around them, the ticking of the wall clock fading away as they slipped into their own world, content to simply hold each other tight and enjoy it. Nikki felt Jack's presence envelope her, soothing and familiar. It felt safe, like home. Jack was her home.
She felt him press a tiny kiss to her hair as he pulled back, his arms reluctantly sliding back round her waist and letting her go. Nikki turned in his arms just before they fell away from her, looking up at him with curious eyes and a tiny smile lifting the corners of her mouth. "What was that for?"
"Do I need a reason?" Jack's smile was infectious, and Nikki found her smile widening in return instinctively.
She stared at him for a moment before shaking her head. "No, I suppose not."
"Well, there you go then." Jack grinned at her again before moving to leave the kitchenette area. Nikki shook her head again, still smiling over his actions as she turned back to the counter and her coffee. She jumped as Jack poked his head back round the kitchenette area, still smiling at her. "Because I wanted to."
"What?"
"You asked what it was for. Because I wanted to." His eyes softened at her. "Sometimes there doesn't need to be anything else."
