The end of the Dominion War comes with a heavy price for Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the Enterprise. A newly-signed treaty between the Federation and the Cardassians leads to an exchange of prisoners; an exchange that not only re-opens the scars caused by events on Celtris III, but threatens to finish what Gul Madred began all those years ago. Lore - who has been, in his eyes, degraded to working in Ten Forward under the careful watch of Guinan, decides to pull a little prank on her and a certain Klingon becomes his victim of choice. This takes place within the canon of my Ascent: a Lore redemption arc fanfiction; I didn't want to include what is essentially a crackship in that work. Minor spoilers for that one ahead.

It soon becomes apparent things are not quite what they seem. Something about this mysterious, omnipotent Butler has Jean-Luc on edge. Features the whole TNG gang and Q, Lore, and Lwaxana Troi.

Worf might be only seven, but even after a month he knows he doesn't fit in on Gault. He's a Klingon, everyone is human. He's a warrior, they are farmers. Klingons killed their gods, but his new foster-parents go and worship one every week. He's in trouble for punching some other boys, and he's fascinated by a picture of a man with ridges on his forehead who also punched someone.

Beverly has just returned from her year away at Starfleet Medical. But the doctor's homecoming also heralds a surprise or two. And they will most certainly change the course of her life aboard the Enterprise. Just what are they? And how will they come in to action, further down the road... especially when quite a turn of events is already around the corner again?
