Tsua had them both switch to online classes and moved them both into their new underground base. Reborn had it started the moment they got back from the future for the last time; it had just finished.
The two were in there alone, Hayato understood why he was the one to stay with her all the time, and the new base allowed him to train in between classes.
However he put off training in favour of trying to get Haru to sleep. At the hotel she had finally succumbed to sleep after weeks of not sleeping. Understandable she currently could not sleep now either, it was currently lunch and they had two hours before their next class.
"Haru I'm tired, why don't we eat late and take a nap. Like we did in Tokyo in between classes."
"But someone usually checks on us around now." Haru responded, Hayato yawned and realized he really was tired. Between classes, Haru not sleeping, which led to him not sleeping and explaining to Judaime about why he never told him.
Haru yawned as well, she shifted on her feet a bit.
"Maybe we can take a small nap." She put down her pencil and left her books on the table they were using. Hayato found this progress as before she refused, he took her hand and started walking to his room. He had a bigger bed, so it made sense to use his room, when they got to his room Haru's eyes were barely staying open. He coaxed her into the room and pulled her to the bed; he then climbed in beside her and waited for her to fall asleep before closing his eyes. As she fell asleep he brushed some hair from her face and kissed her forehead.
"I'll keep you safe, I promise and if I fail I know the others will come through." he closed his eyes and fell asleep himself. When he awoke Ryohei was standing at the door pointing at him, looking angry. He tried to signal to be quiet but it was too late.
"OCTOPUS HEAD!!!!!" Haru started to stir and wake up. Hayato was pissed he really just wanted her to sleep.
"Oi look what you did now." Haru sat up and he got out of the bed. Ryohei was now in the room in his face. He was rather annoyed now.
"Hayato what time is it?" Haru asked.
"Stay away from my sister Octopus head!!!"
"Get out." was all Hayato could say, he quickly checked the time they were only asleep for 10 mins.
"There is still an hour and 50 minutes before class."
"Oh, it felt longer. Hi Ryohei, how are you?"
"Haru, you don't have to sleep with this octopus!" Haru looked at him confused.
"Why not? We used to sleep like this all the time during exams and major projects in Tokyo." Ryohei just started yelling more.
"Onii-san why are you yelling so much?" Kyoko had just entered the doorway and Hayato was reaching his limit, maybe if he got the two hours of sleep he would have had a bit more patience but at this moment he had none.
"GET OUT!!!" Kyoko grabbed her brother's shirt and started pulling him out of the room and He started kicking. Once out the door he coaxed Haru back to sleep, despite being awoken she was exhausted. Once he got her back to sleep, he left the room to rip into Ryohei. He rounded the corner and was met with Kyoko ripping into her brother as well.
"Onii-san, why did you wake them? Just look at them, they're exhausted, do you know when Haru slept last? If she's not sleeping most likely Gokudera isn't sleeping either or are you forgetting what Tsu-kun said." Ryohei refused to look at Kyoko. He rounded the corner and joined Kyoko in letting Ryohei have it.
"This is the first time in weeks that Haru has slept. After months of not feeling safe enough to sleep, she is finally letting herself sleep. Wake her up again!"
"Onii-san, what did Tsu-kun tell you?" Kyoko angrily repeated.
"If they're asleep, leave them alone." Ryohei recluently said, Kyoko then turned to Hayato.
"How bad has it been?" Hayato thought about it for a moment but couldn't really think straight about all the nights awake.
"Hard, lots of crying and screaming. The guts in her bag didn't help, I'm going back to sleep." he walked out of the room and made his way to his room. He heard Kyoko tell her brother to leave them alone; but he didn't care he needed sleep before their next class.
He was taking a double major in chemistry and physics, Haru was double majoring in Politics and Physics. So they spent a lot of time in class together but also separate. Luckily they both excelled in all four topics so they tended to aid each other with homework to finish faster. Once he reached his room he saw Haru sitting up, her face scared. He remembered the first time he saw that specific face she was making. It was back in Tokyo about 4 months into their programs.
They shared a dorm room and he just got back from class, and found Haru standing in the middle of their common space staring at her phone. He had walked up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder, she jumped and nearly punched him. He found it odd and silently questioned her. When she clued in that it was him her face relaxed and she released the breath she was holding.
"Ah, sorry I thought someone broke in." She pulled away from him and made her way to her room. He didn't think much of it, someone had gotten caught breaking into someone's room earlier that week.
Hayato crawled beside her and pulled her into a hug.
"You left me alone."
"Sorry." he coaxed her into lying down again, he was mad he didn't realize sooner what was wrong.
