The Flash Armageddon Part 7 Barry and Peter stood eye to eye against Despero. Not breaking eye contact. Laser focused. Kate and Yelena were still perched up top awaiting orders.
Despero hits Barry with a slam takedown pinning his chest on the ground with his hand.
"NOW!" shouts Peter.
Kate fired a smokebomb arrow as Yelena shot her gun.
Despero turns around which gives Peter the opening he needed. He thwipped a web onto Despero to yank him over for a punch.
This gets put to a halt as Peter's hand gets caught and he gets hit square in the chest and sent flying into some computers as sparkles surrounded him.
Kate and Yelena kept firing shots at Despero as the villian then uses his third eye to blast a laser beam that knocked them down. Kate used a grapple hook arrow as Yelena used her grapple to safely land.
"I'm going in. Keep me covered." said Yelena reloading her gun.
Yelena closes in as she fired shots from her gun as she dodges Despero's eye laser.
"He can fire lasers from his eye?" Yelena asked herself.
Meanwhile Barry groans in pain as he gets back to his feet.
"Ohhh I thought we had a truce?" Asked Barry.
Peter leaped over to Barry to offer a hand.
"Yeah I thought so too. C'mon. Let's go help the girls"
Yelena slides over to nearby cover as Kate kept firing arrows at Despero.
"Quite young to be skilled in the art of archery!" said Despero.
"Yeah well, they call me the world's greatest archer" Kate snapped back.
"It's funny. Because you're not the Green Arrow" he said.
Meanwhile Yelena peaked to get a clear shot.
"I'm not the Green Arrow. One, I'm wearing purple. Two, I'm better than the Green Arrow. I'm Hawkeye and YOU HAVE FAILED YOUR CITY!" Shouts Kate as she hits an arrow right at hit third eye.
Despero cries in agony as his eye receded away.
"*coughing* How the hell could he do that to his throat all those years?" Asked Kate.
Yelena fired shots from her Widow Bite gauntlets trying everything to stun Despero.
The two ladies then decided to take the fight close quarters as they let their kicking do the talking. Despero blocked every attack with effortless ease by simply raising his hands to catch their blows. This would continue until he caught both of them and threw the girls over his shoulders.
Kate fired another arrow as it gets caught by Despero. Which was exactly what she hoped for as she smiled.
"Why do you smile girl?" he asked
Kate simply replied with,
"Boom"
Despero sees the arrowhead blink red lights as it explodes in his face sending him back.
"Are we always gonna keep saving you boys?" Asked Yelena as she helped Peter and Barry up.
"Nice work" Barry said.
Kate continues to cough as she felt the effects of imitating The Green Arrow's "voice".
"Seriously how did Oliver Queen not get strep throat from that voice?" Asked Kate.
"Voice modulator. He kept it in his suit to avoid getting his identity revealed." Explained Barry.
"About that. WHY WOULD YOU TELL THE BAD GUY WHO YOU ARE?!" asked Peter.
"Technically you did too" added Yelena.
"That's not the point. Now he knows who you are and soon he'll go after the people you love." argued Peter.
"Like I said. I got nothing to hide" said Barry.
"It's more about having something to hide Barry. It's about what you have to protect." Explained Peter.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Tony Stark revealed his identity to the world as Iron Man?" Asked Barry.
"And his house got blown up. You know people have been trying to know if I was gonna be the next Iron Man, but there was always one difference between me and Mr. Stark. I don't have his money or all his tech. And I can't afford to have the people I love hurt just to get to me." said Peter.
"Guys? Can this wait until later?" Asked Kate as she sees Despero moving.
Kate and Yelena took aim deadlocked onto Despero.
"I thought there was a truce here?" Asked Yelena.
"I thought as much. Your bravery is strengthend by the assurance you gain from Flash's enhanced healing."
"Doesn't mean it hurts any less" said Barry.
"Pain is the debt we pay for change and I am here to change the future. Thanks to this experiment I now know the force required to kill you when the time comes. I've seen your destiny Flash. I watched you use your power to destroy everything and everyone." Explained Despero.
"You still haven't told me why I would do this. Huh? What would cause me to turn my back on everything I sworn to protect?" Asked Barry.
"Madness. Many times in the past, the pain you suffered nearly crushed you. But soon a new despair will befall you. And it will create an unbroken chain of sorrow so great your mind will crack and with it the world ends." Explained Despero.
"So all it takes is one bad day huh?" Asked Kate.
"You see, your power gas recently accelerated. But so too has been your ability to descend into Madness. Tragedy is coming for you Flash." assured Despero.
"Yeah well, not if we have anything to say about it." said Peter."
"Ever so confident Spider-Man. But what remains to be seen isn't whether or not The Flash will break. It's when?" said Despero.
"I have seven days." said Barry.
"I'd worry more about tomorrow if I were you. I don't know the details of what will happen. But I know tomorrow is the beginning of the end. Your end. I've granted you a chance to defy destiny. But I'll be staying close by. As soon as I sense your mind turning mad, I'll find you. Good luck fighting fate Flash." said Despero as he closes his eyes, crosses his arms and telepathically says,
"I'll be watching"
"Watch this!" said a voice as Despero then gets hit with a Photon Blast.
Despero makes his retreat as Carol Danvers makes her presence known.
"You guys alright?" she asked
"How did you know we were here?" Asked Barry.
"Natasha has a feeling something was up when Peter stayed behind so she had Strange bring in Kate and Yelena as back up. Then I showed up." said Carol.
"Despero gave Barry a heads up that how he destroys the world is him going through more sufferering than he could have that he'll break mentally. Almost going insane." Explained Kate.
"He can't vs right. What would cause me to reach my limit break like that? What could be be possibly talking about?" Asked Barry.
"Sounds like something you're gonna have to handle in the morning because *yawning* I'm tired and it's been a very long day." said Yelena.
"I'll contact Fury. We're supposed to be getting a call from Alex Danvers sometime tomorrow morning." said Carol.
"Have him keep tabs on Barry. Whatever is supposed to happen tomorrow we need to know and when it does, I'll be there to help." said Peter.
"I'm on it." said Carol as she took her leave along with Kate and Yelena.
As Peter puts his mask on he turns to Barry.
"Look I know you wouldn't turn your back on everyone without a reason. If anything odds are Fury would try to have me arrest you." Explained Peter.
"Can I trust that you'll have my back when the time comes?" Asked Barry.
Peter takes off his mask and extended his hand out.
"You can" he assured.
The Flash and Spider-Man shook hands giving Barry the assurance he needed.
"Thanks Spider-Man." said Barry.
"Wherever, whenever. Just give me a call" said Peter putting his mask back on and takes his leave.
