After 3 hours of resting, Arthur decided to hunt down a bounty to at least prove to the town he doesn't seem to be suspicious, as long as his Blackwater bounty stays hidden, the sheriff will never know. So he rushes to the sheriff's office and heads inside, there, he saw the sheriff and his deputy, sitting on their chairs, waiting for someone worthy. They noticed him entering the office.
"Well, looky here," The sheriff said. "Maybe this is our man."
"You a bounty hunter, mister?" The deputy asked him.
"Maybe, Arthur replied as the Deputy stood up. "It depends."
"Well, I'm guessing you ain't here to pass the day, turning yourself in," Sherrif Malloy told him. "or discuss the finer points of the county law. Then I don't need to know much more than that, till I got a reason to."
"Alright," Arthur replied.
Sherrif Malloy sniffed something? "You smell that?" he asked as he stands up to his feet. "This here's a livestock town, mister, attracts delinquents and reprobates like flies. Now I'm not a feller to pass a quick judgment but I've been around long enough to know you don't hire a saint to catch a sinner. You bring me what I need, and I'll pay you well. and I won't ask no questions."
"So... what is that you need?" Arthur asked him.
"Why don't you have a look at that poster, on the wall over there," Sheriff Malloy suggested.
Arthur looked at the poster and the man in the picture is Albert Allbright. He is wanted alive for questioning, $50 in cash.
"He's a low down huckster," The Deputy explained to him. "He's been poisoning folks with his miracle cure from here to Annesburg. Killed more than Landon Ricketts without even pulling a trigger." Arthur took the poster into his hands and take another look at it.
"The feller over the saloon says he thought he saw him by the gorge straight north of here," Malloy told him. "You think you can bring him in? The money's good. I need him alive, though. I wanna make sure the women he widowed get compensated before he swings."
Arthur nodded, fold the poster and store it in his satchel, "I'll see what I can do." he said.
As Arthur exited, Malloy told him again, "And we need him alive, that's an important point."
"Alive, I got it," Arthur replied.
Marcella was hitched to the sheriff's office, so he untethered her and mount on. He rides past the office and rides up the hill, a road leading him to Cumberland Forest. He keep riding until he come across the gorge, Arthur ride left and down onto the gorge, riding alongside the path and the river, ride up again to see a smoke not too far away. There he was, Benedict Allbright, he wears a top hat, sunglasses, a blue jacket, a yellow vest over his white shirt, gray work pants, and black shoes, he was currently camping while his horse, the gray Hungarian Halfbred was standing near him.
Arthur stops and dismounts and walked to the man to confront him, "Are you, Benedict Allbright?" He asked, startling the man with a price on his head.
"No, sir," he quickly denied as he stood up.
Arthur knew he was lying, but he had to play along so he won't see it coming, "You kinda look like him," Arthur told him. "and I was told he'd be up here."
"No," Benedict protested nervously. "not me sir."
"It's because," Arthur explained. "I wanna buy some medicine, and, I heard, heard good things. I'll pay in gold, i-if you can help me find him. It's just, my mother's real sick," he lied.
Benedict sighs in relief, though he was here to capture him, smiles delightfully, proving that he fell for Arthur's lies. "Oh, well if that's the case, if it's for sick women, I'd be happy to help. I'm a healer you know, a medical man," he pulls out a miracle tonic and hands it to Arthur. "Finest medicine in the state," he added a chuckle to his creation.
But throws the tonic to the river and draws out his gun and points at him.
"Game's over, mister," Arthur told him while aiming at him. "Put your hands up. I'm taking you in."
"Taking me in?" Benedict replied shocked. "What for?"
"Apparently that stuff you're pushing is killing folk," Arthur told him sternly. "and there's a price on your head," he slowly approached him. "I don't know, it ain't my business."
"Come on partner, that's crap," Benedict said. "I'm a healer! I've got an aura! I speak to spirits! I'm a scientist!" But Arthur grinned, knowing he really is lying. "Folks get real angry for no good reason, this... this is a mistake."
"Keep your hands up buddy," Arthur told him as he took his gun off his holster and throw it to the river as well. "they only want you for questioning."
"I have to insist that this is a mistake!" Benedict denied again.
Benedict stepped back again only to slip on the edge and was about to fall into the river but Arthur caught just in time, he was holding by the back of the collar, pulling him up. But his jacket is so weak that the back of the collar tears up before Arthur successfully lifts him up, he falls into the river. And the river pulled him down to the stream, forcing Arthur to keep up with him, so he quickly mounts up Marcella and rides alongside the river.
"Shit, I-I gotta cross," Arthur said as he rides across the river and to the other side of the shoreline. "Swim to the edge!" He called to them. Or... grab onto something. Don't you dare drown!"
Arthur continues riding alongside the river until they eventually reached the point where the river slows down for Benedict, Arthur rides a bit closer and brings out his lasso, he catches him with the lasso and pulled him closer from the water and to land, Arthur dismounts and then he hogties him, and carries him over his shoulder and to Marcella.
"Who made you God, friend?" Benedict demanded as he was being stowed onto the Thoroughbred. "Who made you judge?!"
"I'm only in it for the money," Arthur told him as he finishes stowing him on the back of Lucia and begins to mount.
"That's even worse!" Benedict exaggerated.
"I'm sure it does seem that way," Arthur replied as he rides his way back to Valentine.
The trip to Valentine takes a minute and a half with Benedict talking nonsensically but Arthur finally made it back to town and the sheriff's office, he dismounts and hitched Marcella at the hitching post, he grabbed Benedict over his shoulders again as he takes him into the office.
Inside the office, Sheriff Maloy was talking to a woman until they noticed Arthur had come back with Benedict in his grip. "Oh, my Lord," Sheriff Maloy said shockingly. "I wasn't expecting you back so soon. Just take him in those cells over there."
Arthur complies and takes him to the jail cells, he drops Benedict in there.
"There's been some terrible mistake!" Benedict lied as he struggled to break free. "I never did it, any of it!"
"I thought I told you to shut up, partner," Arthur told him as he cuts the rope tying his feet and grabs his shoulders to get him up.
"But I told-"
"But nothing!" Arthur interrupted him as he shoves him into the jail cell and locked him in. "and good luck, it's been real fun."
So in the end, Arthur received $50 dollars from Maloy as he walked out, finally, some money to be made, but it's going to take more than that to leave the place and go someplace new so he and his gang may all have a new fresh start.
