AUTHOR'S NOTE: It has taken me a while dealing with life and moving before I could get back to this story. I hope you enjoy the newest chapter. It's short but I think dangling enough of a carrot to keep you coming back for more. It's definitely going to be interesting to see how things develop and what Jax is going to do when he eventually finds out the real reason his daughter is back in Charming. Or is there more than one reason why she is back? Only time will tell!
SAVANNAH'S P.O.V.
Two days later I felt like I was finally settled in my house. Of course, I am my Mother's Daughter and had the house furnished and decorated before I arrived. But the personal items and clothes I brought with me from Boston were now unpacked. I stood in my walk-in closet and looked at my wardrobe. It was Friday night which meant there was going to be a party at the Clubhouse. My Mother had determined it was going to be my welcome home party. She had accepted the fact that I was home for good, but my dad still hadn't. To say things were tense between us might be the understatement of the year.
"So, what is the SAMCRO Princess wearing tonight?" my best friend asked as she walked into the closet behind me. I turned and looked at Ellie Winston. My best friend was gorgeous. She stood 5'6 flat-footed but in the heels she had on tonight she was easily 5'10. Her dark brown hair with caramel highlights had been straightened.
"What do you think of this?" I said as I did a quick spin. I had never been to a party at the Clubhouse as an adult. An adult who had her heart broken by a SON. A SON who was my best-friend's brother.
"Damn girl! Jax and your grandfather are going to try to ship you back to Boston after seeing you. Do you have anything on under that shirt?" Ellie asked me as she tried to make a grab at the bottom of my shirt. I slapped her hand away and laughed as I turned back to take one last look in the mirror. I had on an oversized men's white button-down shirt on cinched at the waist with a large black leather belt. My over the knee Louboutin leather boots, with the 5-inch stiletto heel, seemed to almost reach the bottom of the shirt. And I wasn't telling Ellie but yes, I had on a pair of booty shorts underneath. My red hair fell in beach type waves down my back and my eyes were done black and sparkly. I barely recognized myself. I never dressed like this in Boston.
"Let's go." I told her, grabbing my keys and heading down the hallway and out the front door. Time to get this over with, I thought as I started the drive across town to the clubhouse.
KENNY'S P.O.V.
I sat outside the Clubhouse on my bike watching the entrance to the lot. I knew she would be here soon. We needed to talk. I needed to explain. She had been avoiding me since she got into town and from what I heard from my sister, flipped the fuck out when she figured out Jax assigned me to babysit her. So much for a covert operation I thought, as I pulled a swig of my beer from the bottle. Where the hell are they? They should have been here before the party started. She should have come with her parents or with JT or Abel. There were over 100 SONS from all different charters partying in the clubhouse and out on the lot. All of them here to welcome home the SAMCRO Princess. Something I knew Jax wasn't thrilled about Savannah's decision but from what I heard from Sophie, my stepmother, who is also Jax's half-sister, Lexi had set Jax straight about no longer keeping Savvy out of Charming.
Just as I had started my bike, making the decision to drive to Savannah's to check on where she and my sister were, I saw her black Audi SUV, pull into the lot. One way or another Savannah and I were going to have a conversation tonight. It was complicated but we couldn't keep going on the way we were...especially if she was going to remain in Charming.
I swung my leg over my bike and walked towards her car. Before I could reach her, Cris Gallindo was opening her car door. He was just giving me more and more reasons not to like him. That was going to come to an end as well. He was not going to put his hands on Savannah. He wasn't good enough for her. She deserved so much better. So much better than him...so much better than me. She deserved better than an Outlaw Biker.
"Penny for your thoughts." a voice said next to me. I looked down at my sister. I hadn't noticed her get out of Savannah's car. "Jesus, Ellie! Has Dad seen you? Don't you own anything that isn't so revealing?" I asked. She wore a black dress, if you could even call it a dress...it covered her her ass but barely. "Do you think Abel will like it?" she asked. I sighed. My sister's obsession with Abel Teller had been obvious to everyone but Abel since she was 13 years old. "Ell..." I started before my Dad and Sophie waved to us from the door to the clubhouse. "Let's go." she said, grabbing my hand and pulling me behind her.
SAVANNAH'S P.O.V.
"You know, your Grandfather and Gemma, introduced me to club in a very similar fashion when I first moved to Charming. God that feels like a million years ago." my Mom said to me as we listened to my Dad greet his SAMCRO brothers and other people who were packed into the Clubhouse. "Savannah, he always thought he was doing the right thing for you. By keeping you out of Charming he thought he was protecting you." she told me. "I know, Mom." I told her as my twin brother, Jack, lifted me up onto the stage. That's when I saw him. That's when I felt the pain. A pain like I had never felt. My heart was ripped open a little more. Kenny stood with Uncle Opie, Aunt Sophie and Ellie a couple of feet away from where my mom stood. I looked away from him the second our eyes met and looked back at my mom. I can't quite describe the look on her face but at that moment I knew that she knew something wasn't quite right between me and Kenny Winston.
LEXI'S P.O.V.
Oh, shit I thought to myself for the millionth time since Savannah surprised us by showing up unannounced in Charming. I saw the look on her face when she saw Kenny. I saw the pain in her eyes. I saw the pleading in her eyes when she looked back at me. She was asking me not to say anything to Jax. Which I wouldn't. I didn't have a clue as to what was going on but Jax would kill Kenny if he went near his princess. Which is exactly what he was telling the Club. He was basically embarrassing his daughter and telling every male member of SAMCRO that she was off limits to them. They were there to protect her and that was it. The pedestal was getting higher and higher which worried me. I didn't know what was going to happen if that pedestal came crashing down.
"Jax..." I yelled up at my husband. "Let's get this party started and let your daughter meet the rest of her SAMCRO family." I said holding my hand out to him. "Don't worry Dad we will keep an eye on her tonight." my sons told him. "You better." he replied.
We watched the three of them make the rounds as we chatted with SAMCRO members who had traveled up and down the west coast to be here. I kept an eye on my daughter, who wore a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. Something was bothering her. I saw her nod at something Jack said to her and then head down the hall in the direction he pointed. Bathroom stop in her brother's room was my guess and started to cross the room to follow her. But that's when I saw two men cross the room from two different sides and meet at the entrance of the hallway. The two men who were obviously wanting a moment in private with my daughter. One I considered to be my nephew and the other was the son of a powerful man who saved me many years ago.
"Let them work it out." Sophie said to me as she came up behind me. "What aren't you telling me Soph? What happened in Boston between Savannah and Kenny?" I demanded to know. My cousin, who was also my sister-in-law, said "I don't know for sure, but I can guess. Just don't say anything to Jax. I love Kenny too much to let my brother kill him." she replied. "I need a drink." I said as I changed direction and headed to the bar. My daughter was in for it now.
