The survival training has now been going on for three months. A week ago, Qrow realised that Jaune was playing with him. He found out that the freezer was full of food that could last them for more than a year, yet Jaune kept telling him to hunt. Qrow then saw that Glynda and Amber were also laughing at him since it took him so long to find out that he was being messed with. He nearly died a few times because he ran into a Giganotosaurus.
With Ruby and Weiss, they were fighting a Deathworm. It was one of the creatures they needed to kill to get a reward at the end of the training. However, they never meant to fight the Deathworm. When the duo was roaming around, they came across a desert, and their curiosity got the better of them. It was then that the Deathworm came out of the ground attacked them.
"Ruby, we need to find a way to get out of here!" Weiss said. "This thing is much stronger than us both! And we're at a disadvantage since we are in its territory".
"I know that!" Ruby shouted. "But there is nothing we can do! We need to find a way to leave without alerting it, and that's not easy since it can sense our footsteps!".
"I got an idea!" Weiss said. "Whenever we stop moving, the Deathworm loses us. What if I threw something far away? It might get attracted by it, and we can run for it then".
"Let's give it a try!" Ruby said. "I don't have any other ideas".
Weiss found a rock nearby and threw it as far as she could. And the Deathworm indeed ran towards the rock. Ruby and Weiss sighed a sigh of relief. However, they moved around before the Deathworm was far enough, and the Deathworm moved towards them once more.
They had no other choice but to fight the Deathworm. Weiss said that she would provide a distraction while Ruby tries to kill it with her scythe since it is a heavy hitter compared to Myrtenaster. While Weiss was providing a distraction, Ruby was looking for an opportunity to kill. And that presented itself when lunged at Weiss and missed. For a second, the Deathworm was immobile, and Ruby used her semblance to get on top of the Deathworm and chop its head off.
"You did it…." Weiss said. "You did it, Ruby!".
"That was scarier than any of the things we've come across," Ruby said. "I'm glad it's dead now. Hey! Plus, we get to check it off the list for the long-term mission".
"That's true," Weiss said. She then started thinking. "I don't know, Ruby. I think we should give up on that".
"Whaaaat?!" Ruby said with shock. "After we got one of the creatures on the list. Are you crazy?".
"Are you serious, Ruby?" Weiss said. "This isn't even the strongest creature on the list, and we barely killed it. How strong do you think a Dragon would be?".
"Come on, Weiss!" Ruby said. "We can't just give up because it's difficult. We're training to be Huntresses. What would people think when they realised that Weiss Schnee would just let people die because the mission was too hard for her?".
"Fine! You win," Weiss said. "We'll continue with it, but if I think we can't do it, we are dropping it".
"Okay, Okay, Okay, Okay," Ruby said with a smile. "Come on, let's get out of this death trap of a place".
In another region of Ragnarök, Pyrrha was finally able to have a proper place to sleep. It was difficult, but she was able to complete some of the missions on her own. Killing a Raptor was no walk in the park, but she was able to kill it. Inside Pyrrha's thatched house, you can see a few stick figures of Ren, Nora, Ruby, Blake, Yang and Weiss. She talks to the stick figures to keep her sanity in check.
"This isn't so bad," Pyrrha said. "I can finally have a dry place to stay".
No one answered Pyrrha since there wasn't any other person with her. She then looked at the stick figures and started conversing with them.
"What task should I do next?" Pyrrha asked a stick figure of Ren and Nora. "You think I should do a task to get my weapons?".
No one answered.
"That's a great idea!" Pyrrha said. "That way, I'll have something to protect myself other than a wooden spear that I made".
"Let's see here," Pyrrha said. "For me to receive my weapon, I need to take down a Thylacoleo. What's that? Let's see the notes".
Pyrrha read the notes on the Thylacoleo. Her eye was twitching at the information.
Thylacoleo Furtimorsus is a large, powerful marsupial that can often be found hunting around trees. Its long claws and semi-opposable digits make it an apt climber, a quality that Thylacoleo uses to its advantage while hunting. Its most notable fighting quality is its powerful jaws. Once it bites its prey, it locks its jaw in an iron grip that can hold most smaller creatures in place.
"I-I, I'm supposed to kill this thing on my own?!" Pyrrha shouted. "I don't have any weapon on me! How am I supposed to take it down?!".
"I can't believe that I have to do this alone," Pyrrha said. she then mumbled. "Stupid punishment and stupid holding back. Why did I have to do something that stupid?".
"I have no choice," Pyrrha said. "I'll take it down, but first, I need to prepare a few things before I do that".
While Pyrrha was preparing her attack on the Thylacoleo. In another region, Blake and Yang were fighting a Direbear. They weren't doing too bad. Blake used the vine that she used to save Yang and make a loop around the Direbear's neck. One end on the vine was with Blake and the other with Yang. They then pulled the vine to choke and suffocate the Direbear. Once the bear was dead, Yang celebrated.
"Hell, yeah!" Yang said. "Ha-ha-ha-ha! Not so tough now are you, Mr Bear? NO one messes with the bumblebee!".
"Yang, "Blake said. "We attacked the bear, not the other way around".
"Oh, right," Yang said. "Did you get your weapon?".
"No, it's not in any of the slots," Blake said. It was then that Jaune suddenly appeared.
"That's because I have your weapon with me," Jaune said. He saw that Blake and Yang tensed up upon his appearance. "Relax, it's just me. And well done for getting your weapons back".
Just like with Ruby and Weiss, Jaune patted Blake's head. Blake was enjoying Jaune's hand on her head. Yang, who was watching this, was confused. Blake was enjoying the patting. It was just a patting.
"It can't be that good," Yang said.
"Well, I'll be going now," Jaune said. "Continue to work hard".
Blake nodded, and Jaune left.
"You looked like you were enjoying that, partner," Yang said. "It can't be that good, is it?".
"What are you talking about?" Blake said. "I wasn't enjoying anything".
"Right…" Yang said. "Anyway, now that we have a weapon, what is our next step?".
"We need to do a task that would help us," Blake said. "There is a fridge and a generator that we can get as a reward. The things we would have to kill will be harder, but now that we have a weapon, it should be relatively easier than before".
"Let's head back to base and see what we can do next," Yang said. "I don't want to stay outside the base longer than we should".
Blake nodded in agreement, and they marched to their base, which was quite a ways away.
With Ren and Nora, they weren't doing great this time around. Most of their tame were killed except for the Griffin since it flew and avoided the attack of a Megalosaurus. Nora was so pissed at what happened that Ren had to hold her back to keep herself from getting killed. With their Griffin, they flew elsewhere to build a new base.
