The Yutyrannus is believed to be related to the Tyrannosaurus rex. However, it is noticeably different at first glance. Feathered creatures are not necessarily viewed as dangerous predators in the same light as other theropods. But, the Yutyrannus strikes fear into even the Island's most skilled hunters. Few wild predators can pack-hunt alongside the generally hostile Carnotaurus, like the Yutyrannus does, with such ease. It is also the only creature to consistently induce a state of panic in opponents with its roar. Upon hearing it, most creatures in the area will flee for safety.
"That's one very intense creature," Ruby said. "Any idea how we can take it down?".
"The best idea I can think of is attacking it from a distance," Weiss said. "We don't know if the roar would cause us issues as well like the other creatures. Maybe we can make a trap, then from there we can kill it".
"Oh! I have an idea!" Ruby said. "We can make a pitfall. All we need is a shovel and a way to lure the Yutyrannus towards it".
"That's not a bad idea," Weiss said. "The task for a shovel is simple enough. All we have to do is catch something known as a Jug Bug, and I've seen a few of them around".
"Great!" Ruby shouted. "Go accept the task and catch us a Jug Bug. "I, on the other hand, will scout for a place to lure the Yutyrannus that we found".
"Be careful, Ruby," Weiss said. "The Yutyrannus is no joke".
"I know," Ruby said. "I'll be far from the Yutyrannus. I may not have a working bullet, but I can still use Crescent Rose's scope to look around the area of the Yutyrannus".
"Alright, then," Weiss said. "I shouldn't take too long to get a Jug Bug. According to the data we got, Jug Bugs aren't hostile".
"Good luck," Ruby said. "Now, which way is the Yutyrannus that we found?".
"It's on the east," Weiss said. "Oum! I'm afraid you might get lost. Maybe we should have invested in a compass".
"Pfft," Ruby laughed, and she started walking. "I'll be fine".
"That's the north, Ruby," Weiss informed. "The east is on your right".
"I knew that," Ruby said. "I was just testing you".
Weiss shook her head and looked at her PDA to accept the task for the shovel. Meanwhile, Ruby made her way to the Yutyrannus they found three days ago. At first, Ruby wanted to take it on, but when they saw some of the creatures around it start running after the roar, they decided against it. The duo wasn't close enough to know if they would be affected by the same roar. However, they were not going to risk their lives to find out.
In the mobile base of the professors, Jaune and Glynda were resting while Qrow and Amber monitored the students. This would be the first time Qrow and Amber watched the students without either Jaune or Glynda.
"Damn. Ruby's improved more than when she was training with me," Qrow said. "The girl that used to be reckless is now capable of making plans that would help them before the mission rather than trying to improvise".
"You know when you told me that your niece was similar to you," Amber said. "I was expecting quite a reckless person. I mean, the way she got into Beacon was fighting a known criminal. But after seeing her in person, I don't see it".
"That's probably due to Jaune," Qrow said. "Even her fighting style has changed. She is even able to wield Crescent Rose with a single hand as if the weight is nothing to her".
"Jaune's training is rough," Amber said, remembering the training she's been doing since arriving on Ark. "But it is effective. I mean, I can now wield the power of the Maiden a lot better than before. He even gave me tips on using it. Like, I don't have to just blast my enemy with fire or lightning or any element. I can give them form and fight alongside me".
"Sigh…Glynda was right," Qrow said. "Jaune seems to know a lot about magic. Maybe she's right that Jaune can use magic as well".
"Why are you sighing?" Amber asked. "I don't think that's a bad thing. If anything, Jaune can be someone that can help fight against her".
"Oz thinks so too," Qrow said. "I'm just afraid that he might not be on our side".
"Qrow, Jaune was never on our side," Amber said. "He's always been on his own side. The only difference between our side and his is that his side is about protecting the people of Remnant and bringing equality between Humans and Faunus, while our side is about bringing the end of Salem. Neither sides are bad, just different objectives".
"If you put it that way," Qrow said. "I guess he isn't all that bad".
Not far from Amber and Qrow was Glynda. She heard everything they were talking about. Glynda thought that Amber had a point. Not everyone would be on their side, but that doesn't mean that those not on their side is on Salem's side. What Amber said was right. Jaune has always been on his own side.
"I don't get it," Glynda said to herself. "If Jaune is all about protecting the people, then with all his power, why hasn't he ever tried to take on Salem? He seems to know about her...At least I believe he does".
"Because there would be many issues that can pop up if I did," Jaune said. Glynda jumped from her spot. "Let's say I kill Salem, what then?".
"What do you mean?" Glynda said. "If you kill her, then there will be no one to make any more Grimm".
"I see," Jaune said. He realised that Glynda didn't know yet of Salem's immortality. "Ozpin hasn't told you everything yet".
"What does that mean?" Glynda said. "Are you suggesting that Ozpin is hiding something from us?".
Jaune looked around and found that Qrow and Amber were busy monitoring the students. He then told Glynda to follow him to an empty room.
"What I'm about to tell you can not leave this room," Jaune said. "Glynda, you're a smart woman. Once you hear what I'm about to say, you'll instantly understand why I don't want you to tell anyone".
"What do you know that we don't," Glynda said.
"Glynda. Salem is immortal," Jaune said. Glynda's eyes became wide as saucers. "But that's not the reason why I haven't tried to kill her".
"T-That can't be," Glynda said. She then realised why Jaune told her she would realise why she couldn't tell anyone. "If this knowledge was known by those fighting against Salem, they would lose hope. But, why tell me?".
"Because I can see a true warrior in you," Jaune said. "Tell me, Glynda. After hearing what I told you, has your will to fight against Salem lower?".
Glynda was thinking if it has, but it hasn't. No matter how impossible it was, she was willing to continue trying.
"No, it has not," Glynda said.
"Just as I thought," Jaune said. "If it was Qrow or anyone else, they would have given up since they would have found it a pointless battle. But not you, because you are a true warrior. A fighter to the end".
When Jaune mentioned Qrow, it wasn't a lie. Qrow momentarily gave up in the show when he found out that Salem was immortal and could not be killed. However, Jaune also knew that Qrow had changed. It may no longer apply to him.
"Wait a second!" Glynda said. "You said Salem being immortal isn't the reason why you haven't fought her. Then what is it?".
"The Brother Gods," Jaune said. "Let's say I found a way to kill Salem. What proof do we have that the Gods won't suddenly return upon her death? After all, in the legend, it is said that Salem's immortality was punishment for what she did. If we killed her without Salem herself overcoming her punishment, then the God of Light and Darkness may take it out on us. I may be strong, Glynda. But that doesn't mean I have the power to contend with gods…at least not yet".
Glynda didn't hear the last thing that Jaune said. Either way, she had a lot of things to think about.
Back to Ruby and Weiss. Weiss was able to procure the Jug Bug. The task was to catch and release the bug. However, she found them helpful. Hence, she brought them back to base, completing the task. On the other hand, Ruby found a place to make the pitfall. It wasn't far from the Yutyrannus, and it would be pretty easy to lure it to the location.
"This isn't so bad," Ruby said. "Now, all we need to do is dig the pitfall".
"That's not going to be easy," Weiss said. "We have to be quick about it. Because if we take too much time, other creatures may attack us. And the Yutyrannus may leave the area".
"This is going to be quite a physical labour," Ruby said. "How many shovels did you get?".
"I got us a few in case it breaks," Weiss said. "Did you know that all the tasks are repeatable?".
"I didn't," Ruby said. "That's pretty cool. Imagine us getting multiple fridges to keep all of our meat. I know how much you love to eat now. Before you seem to be watching your weight".
"T-That's because I thought I might get fat if I overeat. That isn't good for a Huntress," Weiss said. "But after going through Jaune's training, I don't have to worry about that since he drills us to the ground each day. Any calories I believe that can be stored to make me fat is used up".
"Since we have a couple of hours till dark," Ruby said. "Should we make the pitfall now or tomorrow?".
"We should do it now," Weiss said. "Then tomorrow, all our energy will be put into killing the Yutyrannus".
"Alright then," Ruby said. "Follow me. I'll bring us to the location that I think is perfect for the trap".
While Ruby and Weiss made their way somewhere, Blake and Yang hunted a T-Rex. Nothing too impressive when compared to the other creatures that Weiss, Ruby and Pyrrha have taken down. On the other hand, Ren and Nora were flying on the back of Cloud. They were looking for a Giganotosaurus. The reason for this is to unlock the blueprint for a grenade they can use with Magnhild.
