It was now the end of the survival training. For the past month and a half, Ruby and Weiss have taken so many tasks to unlock every information they can get on the Dragon. From behaviour to areas of weakness. And finally, they were ready to take on the majestic beast of the sky.
In the portable base, Jaune and the professors were not the only ones there. Except for Weiss and Ruby, everyone from Remnant was watching the final showdown. Jaune thought it would be best to show everyone the ultimate battle of Ark: Ragnarök.
"I can't believe this," Yang said. "I thought anyone sane would not even attempt the absolute challenge".
"Clearly, you're wrong," Blake said. "So, how do you think your sister is going to fare against the Dragon?".
"I don't know," Yang said. "We've fought powerful creatures like the T-rex and Giganotosaurus, but nothing close to a Dragon. I mean, we avoided the Wyvern ever since I nearly got kidnapped and become Yang chow for it".
"I say they will do great!" Nora said. "Ruby and Weiss seem to have prepared for this. They even made traps that they can use to slow down the Dragon".
"I'm with Nora," Ren said. "Do you see all those traps in the ground? They looked to have been made sometime back. That would suggest that they've been preparing for this fight".
"I hope Ruby and Weiss are okay after this fight," Yang said with a distraught tone.
"If I can join them in the fight," Nora said. "I wouldn't mind using my new Magnhild Tek Grenade".
"What's that?" Pyrrha asked. "I don't think I've seen something like that in the store. But I think I've seen the Tek Grenade".
"Well, duh!" Nora said. "Magnhild Tek Grenade is a modified Tek Grenade made for Magnhild. It has a variable flight speed reaching up to Mach 2 and would stick on its target before blowing up. It is awesome! I was able to take down a Rock Elemental easily. And in the future, I would like to add a homing feature".
"It's not a bad design, Nora. I'm impressed at your design," Jaune said with a smile. "I saw the blueprint that you made for the modified Tek Grenade. It's fascinating. I'll give you a blueprint that I created. It's a more stable version of yours since yours tend to blow up upon firing".
"Thank you, Bossman," Nora said. "But when we get back to Remnant, I wouldn't be able to make any more of the Magnhild Tek Grenade since I don't have a supply of Element".
"You don't have to worry about resources," Jaune said. "I have that covered. Now, let's be quiet and watch the ensuing battle".
On the screen everyone was watching, they saw Ruby luring the Dragon to an area prepared as a trap. What did Ruby do to attract the Dragon? Easy, Ruby pulled a Wiess. She took the Dragon's egg and put it on the PDA storage. This enraged the Dragon, and it started chasing Ruby.
"That certainly worked," Weiss said. "Good going".
"Thanks!" Ruby said. "I call the move, pulling the Weiss".
"Hey!" Weiss said. "One time, Ruby. One time, and you won't let it go".
Back in the mobile base, every student watching was confused why Ruby called stealing the Dragon egg pulling a Weiss. They all looked at Jaune for answers.
"Back near the beginning of the training," Jaune said. Everyone was listening intently. "Weiss found an egg and picked it up. Instead of dropping it and running. Weiss decided that since she was going to get chased anyway, might as well take the egg as a reward".
"Ha-ha-ha-ha!" Yang laughed hard. "Oum! That's hilarious. Do you have videos of it recorded".
"Sure do," Jaune said. "I was planning to use the video to teach each of you the mistakes you made. I have plenty of blackmail on each of you…I mean, I have plenty of teaching materials for you".
"I heard you say blackmail!" Yang said. "Oh no…You don't happen to have a video of Blake and I being flung with poop, do you?".
"Sure do," Jaune said. "It was the funniest thing I've ever watched".
"Ha-ha-ha-ha!" Nora laughed. "I bet you don't have anything on Ren and me!".
Jaune then went to Nora and whispered in her ear.
"I know that you've been slightly killing Ren's plants for his 'Health Drink'," Jaune whispered. "I also have a video of you pissing of an Araneo just for Ren to throw all the 'Health Drink' ingredients".
Nora gulped at the information that Jaune had. If Ren ever finds out, he will make her drink the danger smoothie for a month.
"Please!" Nora begged in a whisper. "Don't tell him!".
"Don't worry," Jaune whispered. "Your secret is safe with me".
Back to Ruby and Weiss. Weiss was attracting the attention of the Dragon as much as she could while Ruby attacked the Dragon in its weak spot. However, as soon as Ruby swung Crescent Rose at the belly of the beast, it didn't do anything. The scales of the Dragon was harder than she imagined, and that was in the softest area that is considered a weak spot.
"Weiss! We have a problem!" Ruby shouted. "The scales on the belly is stronger than we imagined. I struck it in the same spot multiple times, and it didn't even scratch it. I think it's because Crescent Rose is meant to deal with Grimm and not a Dragon".
"Then we better think of something!" Weiss said. "And fast! This thing is relentless! You really pissed it off when you took the egg!".
"Think, Ruby! Think!" Ruby was trying hard to think of something. "It may be a long shot. But it might work…Weiss! I got an idea!".
"What do we have to do?!" Weiss shouted.
"We need to fly up as high as we can," Ruby said. "From there, we need to make holes in the Dragon's wings!".
"I don't know where you're going with this, Ruby!" Weiss said. "However, I don't have any idea what to do. So, I'll do what you say".
Both Ruby and Weiss flew in the sky as high as they could. From there, They would tear a hole in the wings as much as they could. However, an issue arose. Ruby didn't see the Dragon's head close to her. It tried to bite her. But, Ruby was able to dodge it thanks to her sensing danger.
Not all was good as Crescent Rose was bit by the Dragon, and it shattered to pieces from the force of its bite. Ruby was in tears when Crescent Rose was destroyed, but she knew that it was no time to weep as they were currently in a battle against one of the strongest creatures in Ark: Ragnarök.
Ruby looked at her hands, and she was still holding on to half of Crescent Rose's handle that had a sharp blade on it. She was determined to make the plan that she thought of work. Ruby continued making holes in the Dragon's wings. Weiss saw the look in Ruby's eyes, and she did the same thing. She made as many holes as she could.
"Fly down, Weiss!" Ruby shouted. "Bring it down to the traps that we made!".
"I get it now!" Weiss said. "If we dive down and the Dragon follows, the holes in its wings would make it impossible for it to support the Dragon's descent. That's genius!".
"And if it doesn't kill it," Ruby said. "The trap should be able to since it should explode the moment the Dragon makes slams into it! Gunpowder is sensitive to sudden impacts".
Ruby and Weiss then dove down. The Dragon followed. Weiss and Ruby moved out of the way at the last moment, and the Dragon tried to pull up. However, the wings were so damaged that insufficient air was being displaced to support the Dragon's flight.
When both ladies saw this, they rejoiced. Unfortunately, Weiss did not notice the Dragon's tail, and it smacked into her. Thankfully, she guarded against it in time with Myrtenaster. However, said sword was destroyed. But it didn't matter as they beat a Dragon.
Weiss and Ruby watched as the Dragon hit the trap filled with gunpowder and exploded. The area had enough power to an entire building. Weiss and Ruby had to fly away just to not be affected by it. Both ladies looked at the explosion, and they saw something flying towards them. It was the Dragon's severed head. With this, they smiled and celebrated. They finally did it. They completed the absolute challenge of Ark: Ragnarök made by Jaune.
Yang, Blake, Ren, Nora, Pyrrha, Glynda, Qrow and Amber were shellshocked. They just saw two of their friends and students take down a terrifying beast of the sky. Jaune, however, was smiling. The challenge was made solely for Ruby and Weiss in the first place.
Ruby was a naïve person who needed to learn the harshness of the wild and the world's unfairness. Weiss was a sheltered person that needed to overcome her fastidious nature. What better to push them by using something they want? Ruby sought for the God Arc and Weiss for Lambent Light. The task had them running in many different environments. The Desert, The Forest, The Snow Mountain, The Swamp, and Caves. All of which showed the world's harshness and made them do dirty work such as digging pitfalls and other things.
Jaune created similar tasks that Ruby and Weiss did for the others. However, it didn't work since they didn't look through the PDA enough. Oh well. There's always a next time.
