PROLOGUE
In the early morning, when the sun rises, illuminating the forests that surrounded an old Western castle as the birds are singing. This citadel is the Old Scout Regiment Headquarters, one of the Survey Corps' bases of operations. The Survey Corps is one of the branches of the Walls military, along with the Military Police Brigade and the Garrison. This Survey Corps or the Scouts is nothing like our Scouts counterpart on Earth, as people usually called them as the eyes and ears of the Army based on their recon mission to explore an enemy-occupied area to gather information on natural features and enemy presence. It is very different from the Survey Corps in this world, consisting of the most elite soldiers to combats the Titans.
The Titans are a race of giant, man-eating humanoids that only serve a sole purpose in life is to seek out and devour humans. Only to regurgitate the contents of the cavity before they continue eating more humans. Because they do not possess a complete, functioning digestive tract and merely have a stomach that eventually fills up with what they swallow. The Walls residents only have a theory that the Titans hunting humans isn't out of necessity, but rather an entertainment as the people don't know why they are doing this. And that is the birth of the Survey Corps.
The Survey Corps was established as the symbol of hope as humanity was on the brink of extinction when the Titans had driven them to the Walls, consists of three structures as large as 50 meters that protect people from Titan. The duty of the Survey Corps is not only to combat Titan but also to study Titan, human expansion, and outside exploration by using their ODM gears. All of their merits are services for the remaining of humanity as they still symbolized "the hope of mankind" along with their emblem being known as the "Wings of Freedom.", despite having little success. Sadly, the residents mostly criticize the Scouts because of having the highest death rate in their regiments and disapprove of adventuring outside the Walls. Nonetheless, the Scouts hoped that someday, their efforts would change the world, and they will be able to recover what has been taken away from humanity because of the Titans.
Oh, if only they know the truth.
On the castle balcony, three teenagers are enjoying the beauty of the glow of the dawn and nature. The first one is a young boy of average height and build. He got a long face, short-browned hair, and large, round turquoise-green eyes. The second person on his right is a tall and well-toned Asian girl with pale skin, gray eyes, and shaggy short black hair. The third person has a boyish face, with large blue eyes and a small pointed nose which is always distinctly a bit red, and his blond hair is styled in a long undercut with bangs over his entire forehead. They are wearing a strange uniform, consisting of a brown jacket have the Corps' emblem, a shirt, maroon sash around their waist, white straps trousers, and brown knee-high boots. Save the girl who has her black scarf as an addition to her outfits. Their names are Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert, and they are a part of the Survey Corps.
"The sun is beautiful, isn't it, Eren?" Armin asks his best friend to contemplate the sunrise as a new day begins to starts.
"Yes, the sun is beautiful, Armin." Eren happily replies as he looks smiley toward his best friend, while Mikasa nods her head, continues to admire the beauty lay before them.
"What is today schedule, Armin?" Mikasa asks her two best friends.
"Well, today are mostly training with Levi's squad, running some experiments with Hange, and have to clean up the place by the captain's order." Armin listed as his friends are listening to him.
It's been a few weeks after Eren found out to be somewhat a Titan shifter as he turned into a Rogue Titan back at the battle of Trost. Nobody knows how he can transform into a Titan, which makes the people and the jury is terrified him at the court. Hell, they even want to kill and dissect him along with Mikasa. Luckily, Erwin Smith, the commander of the Survey Corps, has justified and defended him with provided evidence that he and his members have gathered and witness Eren's effort to save Trost by killing the Titans, blocked the breach, and explain his usefulness to humanity. Eventually, Premier Dhalis Zachary, the judge, has decided to assign Eren to the Scout Regiments under Levi's command. And a lot of things have happened during his stay at the old Survey Corps' HQ, from running testing with Hange to his friends and comrades joining the Scouts. Eren was happy for his friends to join and assist him.
Eren heavily sighed as he remembers Hange's test run. "Yeah, it's gotta be a long day but worth it. Do you know why?" Eren asks his friends in excitement as they know what it is. "Few weeks later, the 57th expedition will be our chance for the humanity to strike back the Titans and reclaim our home, Shiganshina District and Wall Maria." He said as he looks toward the sun.
As he spoke, the 57th expedition is a part of the operation to reclaim Wall Maria, which started from Karanes District to Shiganshina District. They are excited and look forward to the incoming mission because they have lost their home in the year 845. 845, a disastrous event occurred when the Colossus Titan suddenly appeared at the gate of Shiganshina District in the afternoon, making the Garrison regiments caught off guards as the Colossus kick down and destroy the gate. Lead to a horde of Titans rushing in as the Armored Titan was among them as it destroyed another gate that leads to another tragic disaster known as the Fall of Wall Maria. Thousands of lives have been lost, had the aftermath of a catastrophic event can rub the wound, then it's not. The Royal Government staged an operation known as the operation to retake Wall Maria, which lead to a devastating defeat. Twenty percent of the human population has lost because they have not had any battle experience. Among the casualties are the death of Eren's mother in the Shiganshina District and Armin's grandfather as who also participated in the failed operation.
But that will change since the remnants of humanity have found hope, which is Eren Yeager with his newfound power. They believe humanity will win against the Titans and reclaim Wall Maria.
"We will take back our home, Eren." Mikasa said.
"Yeah, with you, me, Mikasa, and everyone under commander Smith's leadership, we will reclaim our home." Armin enthusiastically said as Eren and Mikasa smiled at their friends.
"Not only that, but we will see the outside world. Together." Eren said as he and the others always dream of seeing the outside world. They want to see the ocean for the first time in their life.
Eren then looks up at the skies, his eyes are sparkle, and said. "Have you ever wonder what is outside of our world?"
"Far beyond the walls, there stretchy fiery waters, lands of ice..." Armin said with his sparkling eyes. "... And sandy snowfields spread wide. The world that we have promised and planned to venture into, right?" Armin said as Eren nods his head as he was glad his friend still remember their promises.
"True, but what I mean is among the stars, do you think that there would be another life forms or civilization up there are watching us?" Eren asks as his friends are shocked to see their friend ask a question out of a sudden.
"Maybe, but do we want to?" Mikasa stated as she and Armin also look at the sky.
"Whaddaya mean by that?" Eren asks.
"Who knows what could be out there Eren, other forms of life like us, Humans. Or more beasts that simply see us as food like Titans do. I have enough to worry about when I thought you have died at Trost, I do not want to have more worry than that." Mikasa tells him.
"And beside, it is one of life great mysteries." Armin comments as they continue to observe the sky until someone interrupts them.
"Eren! Mikasa! Armin!" A voice called them. They turn around to see a relatively short woman with shoulder-length light ginger hair that has bangs swept to the left side and amber-colored eyes are running pantingly toward them. Her name is Petra Ral, one of Levi's squad members.
"What is it, Petra?" Armin asks in concern as he and his friends could see her is panting heavily.
"The commanders order me to get you guys to the mess hall door. They said it's urgent." Petra explains as they obey her immediately and waste no time running toward the mess hall to see three people are standing there.
The person in the middle is a tall, muscular man with his blond hair kept neatly parted on the left side, he has noticeable thick and bushy eyebrows, and his name is Erwin Smith. The second person on his right is a glasses woman, which wide, light brown eyes and shoulder-length dark brown hair that they often kept tied up in an unkempt high ponytail with bangs parted down the middle, and her name is Hange Zoë. And the last one is a cold-stoic man who has short, straight black hair styled in an undercut curtain, as well as narrow, intimidating dull gray eyes with dark circles under them and a deceptively youthful face. He is pretty short, but his physique is well-developed in musculature. That's Levi Ackerman, and he would be angry if someone calls him small.
"You late." Levi said in a flat tone as he glares at the three trainees who have just arrived.
"What's going on?" Eren asks as Mikasa glare in return to Levi since she has a grudge against him.
"Haven't you noticed something strange is happening while you three are at the outside?" Levi asks the trio in annoyance as the latter are slightly confuse at what he said.
"What do you mean, Captain? The morning is pretty normal today." Armin reply.
"What he mean is that don't you three haven't heard any birds chirping nor feel the breeze of the wind recently?" Hange asks as they widen their eyes as they remember that during their conversation about aliens, they do not notice the sound of the birds and the wind blow through their faces.
"But what does it have to do with calling us here, commander Smith?" Eren asked when he and the others wanted clarification on strange questions Levi and Hange have been asking.
"It's better for you three to see for yourself." Erwin said when he opens the mess hall door. To reveals a phenomenon that Hange cannot answer.
In the room, dozens of people are either eating breakfast or chatting around, or doing other activities for the morning. However, one strange thing is that everyone in the mess hall is stopped and froze like a statue, like all of them.
Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are gawking at the bizarre phenomenon before them as they and the others are starting to walk into the room.
"What is going on here?" Mikasa said as she gazes at the table where Sasha, Connie, Ymir, and Krista are chatting while Sasha is chewing her potato.
"Yeah, is this some kind a prank or something?" Eren asks as he waved his hand at the frozen Jean, who is yawning.
"It can't be a prank." Armin shakes his head. While he looks at Reiner and Bertholdt are playing chess as Reiner is moving the pawn. "They just immobilize and froze like a statue. There is no way they can pull this off."
"That's what we thought when we investigate this anomaly." Petra said as she looks at her teammates.
"For some reason they just... stopped moving." Hange said as she is fascinated by the phenomenon. "It's seem like its happening to all of them. We don't know if this anomaly have affected to the outside of the perimeter."
"So far, it is just us are still normal or haven't being affected yet." Levi monotonously said as he observes the room before he turns to his superior. "What do we now, Erwin?"
Erwin thought for a second before he said to his subordinates. "We don't know what is the cause of this phenomenon, but I propose that we should investigate further more and go to Trost to inspect." He instructs them as they focus on listening to his order. "Hange and Levi, I want you..."
CRUNCH!
A bite loud enough to interrupt the group's discussion led them to turn their attention to the sound just now. Then, they saw a woman casually eating an apple as she is sitting on the empty table. She has messy blond hair and wearing tattered peasant clothes, consisting of a sleeveless gray jacket, a cotton shirt, an inner white dress, and a pair of tattered leggings with straps boots.
The Scouts stare at her in bewilderment, as if she wasn't fazed or noticed her surroundings as she keeps eating the apple and still normally act. As if none of this surprised her much.
They step and slowly walk toward the stranger with caution as they don't know who she is while the woman still focuses on eating her apple, not even bothering to pay attention to them. As they are now approximately near her, they trade glances at each other as the atmosphere started to get tense while the woman glances at them a bit and smirk before she looks back on her half-bitten apple. Soon, Armin is the first one to talk to her as he spoke.
"H-hello?" No, respond. "Hello there, miss...?" Still, no response as she still eats her apple. "What's your name, miss?" At first, Armin thought she would answer his last question as she looks at him and the others but then continues eating her apple, presume she ignore his question.
"Do you have a name, miss?" Eren asks her as she smirkingly looks at him. Good, he got her attention. "Do you know what is going on here?" She looks at him for a while as she holds her index finger on her chin before opening a playful smirk as she said.
"Keep moving forward." She answers him with a strange language along with her accents as she startles the Scouts, making them step back in shock, stagger, and look alarmed at her. "Keep moving forward." And this time, she spoke their language as she jumped out the table, throw another apple on Eren, which he catches with his wide eyes. And then, she starts to march around them and keeps repeating that sentence. "Keep moving forward. Keep moving forward. Keep moving forward..."
The Scouts look at her in odd and curious. As if she was a lunatic who escaped from an asylum, from her speaking an alien language and have been walked around them for a minute, making Levi felt annoyed while others are confounded. Finally, Levi said in an annoyed and impatient tone to stop her from doing this. "Hey, lunatic! Stop whatever you are doing!"
The woman then looking at him with her playful smirk, as if he just amused her before continue what she was doing. "Keep moving forward!"
"Stop!"
"Keep moving forward!"
"Stop what you are doing, you freak!" Mikasa said in her annoyed tone as she and the others got tired of this.
"Keep moving forward!" At last, she stops, making them felt glad. Before, she lay her eyes on Erwin Smith and smirk. "Dedicate your hearts! Devote your hearts!..." She once more repeats her works with different words when others are tired of what could be considered crazy.
"Please, stop doing it." Petra said with her pleading eyes as the woman look at her. And then, she smiles mischievously.
"You could have said sooner, you know. Just say please." She replies with an innocent tone that makes the Scouts look at her dumbfounded, perplexed, and irritated as some of their eyes twitched in annoyance. That's it, this woman mad. That's all they thought about the madwoman before them.
"And I thought Four Eyes was crazy." Levi muttered in annoyance as this is the first time he sees a madwoman who is crazier than Hange.
The woman then sat on the table, eyes on everyone in the room for a while before she said. "Well, do you want to stand there like a tree or ask a question already?"
"Just... who are you?" Armin desperately asks.
"Hmm...". The woman thought for a moment, and she replies. "I always wondering who am I or what is my name. But, I like do calls myself as the Bad Wolf, same with the others." She smiley said as the others look at her in skeptical and questioning, as they doubt her real name couldn't be "Bad Wolf."
"Okay, miss Bad Wolf." Hange said as she steps toward her in caution. "Do you what is going on here?"
"Yes, I do know. The time just stopped, that's all." Bad Wolf casually responds.
"Then, do you know the cause of this?" Petra asks.
"Of course, I know." The Scouts brighten up as eager to know what is the cause of this phenomenon. "Because I am the one who freeze time." Then their mood dropped when they heard that she is the one that has freeze time. But that's impossible? How can she freeze time?
The Scouts are now on high alert and stay vigilance on this woman while mostly wish they could have their swords to apprehend her. But they don't know anything about her, which is a problem for them and a grave mistake if they attack her, consider that she spoke a weird language and possible have a mental illness. So, for now, they would play defense and tries to cool the situation down.
"How did you do... all of this?" Hange asks as she gestures the room.
"Well, I have a power... powerful enough to stopped time. It's kinda obvious, right?" Bad Wolf said with her raised eyebrows. "And if it not enough for you, then I will show you." She said as she raised her bitten apple to prove her power to everyone. And with a swift move, she reverses the bitten apple back to the whole apple, shocking many people as Hange starting to go crazy in her mind but manages to calm down as she wants to asks her the main question.
"But, why are you doing this?" Hange gets to the point.
Bad Wolf gloom as she said. "There is a lot of things will happens in your future, involve with a lot of suffering, deaths and destruction. Many cries of despair and fear will sounded as they all felt pain, hopeless, anguish as the holocaust will end them all. The showdown between good and evil will happens as they drags many people to ruins."
After she said the foreboding future to the Scouts, they felt their heart drop all of the sudden as they heard their dreaded fate. Will it be the end of the world for the remnants of humanity? That's the question they ask for themselves as some of their legs are shaking and staggers as the atmosphere becomes suffocate. Thankfully, they sat on the chair to regain themselves for a few minutes before Eren found his courage to asks.
"What happens in the future, Bad Wolf?" Eren desperately asks her, but she quickly frowns as she cannot answer that question. "Then... is it the Titans have bring the end on us?" Eren asks as his anger starts to rise as his hatred for the Titans is burning inside him.
"I cannot tell you." Bad Wolf said as she makes his face fell. "But, I can help you to avoid such a dreadful destiny, all of you. I can help you." She said as the Scouts start to brighten up as they can felt hope in it. "I gave you a chance, and you just have to trust me."
The Scouts thought for a moment, thinks about her offering to save them from the frightening future. If what she tells them is true, then what could they do? Even they know that something terrible will happens in the future, but how do they prevent it? That is another question they couldn't answer.
"Erwin." Levi said as he looks up at his commander. "You have been our leader for the long time. Whatever you do, we will follow you in everywhere as we venture outside the Walls. And just let you know, we will still follow you, even we takes the madwoman offering." The rest of the Scouts are shocked to hear their comrades state about his loyalty to Erwin, while Bad Wolf silently giggles at what he calls her.
"Commander Smith, you can count on us, all of us here." Eren said as he and others show determination on their face as they are ready to follow their leader.
"Thank you for your support." Erwin smiley said as he felt proud of his comrades. "Miss Bad Wolf." He looks up at her with his determination. "We accept your deal and ready to follow you to prevent our awlful future."
"Good." Bad Wolf smile as she is glad to hear it. "And now, we are ready." She said as her hazel eyes turn into gold and glowing, surprise many Scouts as she open the portal. "When you walk in the portal, you will meet a man who is waiting for you. He will slowly answer your question but you have to trust him. Just like how you trust me."
"Wait!" Hange runs towards the Bad Wolf with her excited face as Levi has pulled her jacket in time. "How powerful are you? Are you a god or something? And I swear that before you open the portal, I saw your eyes just glowing in gold, how can you do it?" And Hange throws a lot of questions enough to make Bad Wolf chuckled while Levi wrinkles his nose in annoyance.
"Come on, Four Eyes. Let's go." He said as he, Erwin, Petra, Mikasa, Armin, and a protest Hange walk into the gate. Bad Wolf observes them walk in the portal, but Eren notices that she isn't going with them.
"Are you going with us?" Eren asks out of curiosity.
"I have a few more things need to done here. And I will be there, okay?" Bad Wolf replies as he nods his head before he stops his track and devilishly smiles.
Eren walk towards the yawning Jean as he put the apple that he has been held on Horse Face's mouth and silently laughs and walks into the portal. Leaving the woman enjoys his prank as she silently disappears to get another person that needs help.
Sighed.
A heavy sigh. It comes from an unknown place where there's an endless sea of sand, a pillar-like tree of light, being stretched up into the star-filled sky endlessly, and not far away from the tree, a ten year-old-girl is sitting on the dunes, look up at the stars with the bucket next to the girl. She has light blond hair with straight-cut bangs and purplish-blue eyes. She was wearing tattered clothing with a cloth headband, sash belt, and leather sandals laced above her ankles. Her name is Ymir Fritz, a child who has forgotten what it felt like to be free or understands the meaning of freedom. She has been a slave for a long time because of the cruelty of the world.
Her purplish-blue eyes observe the aurora in sadness as she thought about her life through her vague memory. If she remembers correctly, around 2,000 years ago, she was a kind girl who used to have a regular, happy life like everyone, have parents to take care of and friends to play with, it was a peaceful life, and she doesn't ask for much until her life has begun to shatter and gone hell. Her village was attacked and enslaved by the Eldians, a primitive tribe who pillaged and raided opposing peoples, even cutting out the tongues of those they took for their slaves and gouging out the eyes of disobedient slaves. She was one of their unfortunate victims.
The Eldia tribe attacked her village, murdered her parents, and enslaved her along with the survivors. When they take her and the villagers to their tribe and meet the tribe's ruler, Fritz, he immediately orders his men to cut out their tongues as he quotes, 'Slaves don't need tongue.' And so, they cut out her tongue like everyone else, and he commands his slaves to go to work.
She was in charge of feeding the pigs at that time. Ymir could remember when she headed to the storehouse to get food for the pigs. She watched a wedding between the two happy couples with everyone who attends there. Ymir wonders what it felt like to be love and needed by someone. Sadly, the only friend she has was the pigs. Even now in the unknown land, she still pondering why she free some pigs out of their cage on that night, was it because of her kindness, sympathy, or did she do it without a second thought.
It doesn't matter. Ymir thought to herself as she remembers her punishment for letting go of the pigs. On the next day, Fritz and his men questioned the slaves on the culprit, and all of them pointed to her as she collapsed on her knees, head hung low as she felt hopeless to escape this cruel fate. Fritz's men gouge her left eye out as she screamed in pain. A few minutes later, Fritz let her out into the wilderness, declared that she is free. But only to be hunt down like an animal by his men. Wounded and desperate, Ymir could describe as she received two arrows at her shoulder and leg while she limped through the forest as fast as she could as she doesn't want to die. Eventually, she found a strange large tree with a chasm at its base, so large enough to touch the cloud, wasted no time, she immediately walk into the tree to hide but fell into a pool of liquid due to the sinkhole beneath. At the moment, she fell and drowns in the pool, she screamed in fear as her tears shattered through the water, and her only thought is she will die alone in the dark.
But then, something happens to her as she couldn't find any word to describe it. Her wounds had healed, the arrow was gone, and her missing eye and tongue had returned. She wonders if that was the water doing or something else, she doesn't know because the next thing she knows, she felt an excruciating pain in her back as something forced its way to her spine. Then, the next thing she remembers as she could describe was another hell in her life.
A bright light consumed her surroundings, and the next thing she knew, she was looking at the sky, roaring out louder than anything she had ever heard. Ymir turned into a giant humanoid as the Eldian tribe were feared and afraid of her. However, the strangest thing that happens next was she kneeling to them as if she still thought of herself as their slave. And so, another life of hell has begun.
With her newfound power known as Titan, Ymir returned to serve Fritz and used her Titan to cultivate the land, build bridges, and amass wealth for the Eldians. Under his command, she also defeats the armies of Eldia's rival, Marley. To "reward" her for her service, Fritz took her as his concubine, and together, they had three children: Maria, Rose, and Sheena. During this time, Ymir grew to genuinely love and care for Fritz despite his behavior and attitude towards her.
And thirteen years after acquiring the power of the Titans and the defeat of the Marley, an assassination attempt on Fritz was carried out by the Marleys to end his tyranny regime. But suddenly, Ymir sacrifices herself for her master as she took a stab at the throwing spear. As she was dying, she thought to herself that she is finally free from this cruel world. But then, she found herself in a mysterious, barren land. She looked around, trying to find anyone or anywhere to go before she heard a loud boom. And that was when Ymir realized her cruel fate still clings to her and still serves her King as images of King Fritz forced her daughters to eat her corpse in an attempt to preserve the power of the Titans. He commanded her daughters to reproduce, to have their children eat their spines upon their deaths, and perpetuate this ritual from child to child so that Ymir's blood would not die out and Eldia could rule forever with its Titans.
So, during 2000 years, she observed the world turning as her soul remained blindly obedient to the Eldian royal family, creating Titans by hand in the unknown land known as the Paths surrounding the Coordinate. The Nine Titans came from her power. And she continued to serve her descendants, building them Titans whenever they invoked the power of the Titans as they established the Eldian Empire. The Eldians used the Titans as weapons of mass destruction to conquer other nations, wiping out countless cultures in the process and slaughtering many innocents people. Allegedly, Marley was once again victim to Eldia's warmongering around 1,200 years ago. And eventually, the Eldians ran out of enemies and began fighting each other. The eight of the nine houses with the Nine Titans remained in conflict, but the Fritz family maintained order with the Founding Titan. While Ymir observed the rising nation of the Eldian Empire, she felt guilty for the resulting suffering from millions of people, which she started to become a pessimist as knows that it was her duty as a slave and she was responsible for many atrocities. She just wished for this cycle of suffering to end.
After 1700 years, Ymir received a new order from the 145th King, Karl Fritz, the holder of the Founding Titan. The King ordered her to build millions of Colossus Titans to form three concentric Walls around their territory on Paradis Island: Maria, Rose, and Sheena, which surprised her a bit before she shook the shock off. And then erase the Walls residents' memories about the outside world.
Karl Fritz did it because he believed that Eldia's sins can't atone their sins and that Eldians and Titans should not have existed in the first place. He pitied the Marleyans and devised a plan alongside the Tybur family, the keepers of the War Hammer Titan, to end the Eldian rule. The King abandoned the internal conflicts, and without the Founding Titan to keep order, the Eldian Empire collapsed. The Eldians fought and weakened themselves during the Great Titan War. While the King and the Tybur family presented the legend of Helos, a Marleyan hero, joined with the Tybur family to defeat the King. The Tybur family fought to restore Marley in the war; other noble families would follow suit. They succeeded, and Marley gained seven of the Nine Titans as a result. The King moved the capital to Paradis Island, Eldia's last remaining territory, and gathered as many Eldians he could on the island. So he could isolate himself and his people from the world.
Once she has done with the 145th King order, Ymir looked through the paths of her people, seeing the two split. The ones inside the walls, being oblivious of the outside world. While the others being oppressed by the Marleyan as they did not flee to the island, subjugate by Marley. They spared those who became second-class citizens and resided within internment zones by force, separate from the Marleyan population. Ymir felt sad, sorrowful as the Marley used their new influence to spread slander of the Eldian Empire, claiming they had resorted to eugenics against the other races of the world for 1,700 years. And that she, Ymir Fritz, had gained her power from the "Devil of All Earth." Any Eldians accused of committing wrongdoing against the Marleyans were sent to "Heaven" and turned into Pure Titans, doomed to wander for eternity.
She questions herself in her cynical mind. Why did this world have to be so cruel?
Back to the present, Ymir still observes the stars and thinks about the certain boy who made her feel somewhat alive as she had felt her emotion such as anxious, careful, happy, unexplainable anger that she had never felt for 2000 years. But most importantly, the boy named Eren Yeager has given her hope.
When Eren Yeager was born, Ymir felt a connection to him. She didn't know what it was, but she just felt that Eren would become someone important to the world and her. That boy certainly makes her felt hope for the first time in 2000 years. As she watches Eren, her lips were tilted in the tiniest noticeable smile when she saw Eren hang out with Mikasa and Armin, making her remember her childhood before it went to hell. She was heartbroken when she saw Eren's mother got eaten by a Titan as the Warriors begin their attacks, and she slightly flinches at Eren's declaration to wipe out the Titans, unknown to him that they used to be people. But she couldn't blame him for his anger, consider that he and Mikasa brutally murdered a group of kidnappers who have killed Mikasa's parents and kidnapped her. And she felt glad that he had passed his training and become a Scout, as he always wants to.
As Ymir witness Eren got eaten by a Titan, she thought he was dead. But then, she felt a rush of electricity running through her from the command for shifting. But something was different, and she was shocked to see Eren is still alive as his stumped arm pointed upwards and screams that he will kill them all. Her feeling was right when she felt a connection to him. And she hurriedly to fill her bucket with sand and worked with vigor like never before. She analyzed every detail, making every muscle its fullest potential. She carefully constructed his titan to best fit him with her heart was pounding, making her feel anxious about failure. She never felt this sensation, to be honest. And then, an unexpected thing happened as she watched Eren broke out of the stomach of the titan that ate him in awe before smashing another one. And she was marveled at that sight from that time.
And even now, Eren has been surprised many times. When she felt a pang of unexplainable anger when he was called a monster by his people, how they shot a cannon at him out of fear, and then she felt happy and relieved at the same time as they gave Eren a chance to prove himself when he closes the breach at Trost District. She wanted to laugh when Eren was joking around with his friends, and she felt alive.
This boy certainly has a lot of things to surprised her. Ymir thought to herself as she silently chuckled before her smiles fade as she thinks of another problem.
Dusting herself, she stands ups, picks up her bucket, and begins her daily work with her sullen look. While she walks toward the Coordinate, she started to thought about Zeke Yeager, Eren's half-brother, and his euthanasia plan. Zeke has developed a nihilistic view when he has faced the harsh and cruel world himself. Due to repeated childhood trauma and stress under his demanding parents and hostility by the Marley harbored towards him for his Eldian status. He came to believe that his race is destiny to suffer as he did and that he must "save" them from existence. And by "save," he meant to sterilize his kind by using the Founding Titan power, destroying the Marley. So he and his race can live for the rest of their life until they were extinct because they cannot birth anymore. And so, the Eldians no longer exist, the war and the discrimination end, and the world is finally in peace.
If that day ever came, she would have no choice but to obey his order since she was a slave to the Eldians. She has no free wills of her own and has been a slave for a long time in this cruel yet beautiful world. Sometimes, she wished this cycle of suffering to end. Sometimes, she longed for the freedom of this cycle of suffering and cruelty. That's all she thoughts as she was in deep thoughts when she suddenly bumped into something or someone.
"Hello, mate!"
Ymir looks up, and her eyes are wide in shock to see a messy blonde-haired woman who is smiled brightly at her. She is wearing tattered peasant clothes, consisting of a sleeveless gray jacket, a cotton shirt, an inner white dress, and a pair of tattered leggings with straps boots. Ymir is currently shocked as her widened eyes still gaze at the woman. Not paying attention to how the woman dresses, but she is interested in how the woman can get in here.
For all she knows, this place is the Paths, only the Royal bloodlines that possessed the Founding Titan can get in here. No one can enter here, and she is the only inhabitant of this wasteland.
Now, her mind is running a ton of questions to asks the woman but the woman spoke to her first.
"I know this is quite shock for you to see me in this... prison." The woman gestures the Paths. "Now then, should we start introducing each other?" Ymir nods. "My name is the Bad Wolf. What is your name?"
Ymir slightly confuses at the name before she pushed that thought and replies. "Ymir. My name is Ymir Fritz." Her voiced feeling weird after not talking in such a long time.
"Hello Ymir Fritz. Nice to meet you." Bad Wolf greets her with a loving smile as she wipes out some dirt on her face, making Ymir slightly remember that loving smile from her mother.
After a few minutes of silence, Ymir finally asks her a question. "How did you get here? Are you like me?"
"It is hard to explain it to you but..." She put her hands on the girl's shoulders. "...let just say, I have a power like you, more powerful than you could imagine."
"Are you... a God?" Ymir asks with her eyes glistened with hope.
Bad Wolf shakes her head as she said. "I don't know, but if you want to, then I can show it to you." Her eyes then glow in gold, which surprised Ymir to see her brown eyes turn into gold as she then stands up, opens the door, stretches her hand, makes a sign to follow her through this portal.
Ymir felt hesitant to follow the woman that she just met. A part of her mind tells her to stay here, to keeps working, as it was her duty to be here, as a slave. But her feelings and instinct told her to go with the woman, to see what is she offering. After a moment of hesitation, she asks Bad Wolf a question to decide her choice.
"Why are you here? Why did you want help me?" Ymir looks at the Bad Wolf with an expressionless look.
Then her face morphed into sad, pity, and most important is sympathy as she answers the little girl. "You are just a little girl, an innocent child who deserve to live a happy life, not to become a weapon, a tool or called as Devils or gods." She touches her face. "You are a sad and lonely girl who needs help. And so, here I am." She gestures herself. "I am here to help you, Ymir Fritz. Come with me, and I will take you to the outside world." She offered Ymir a hand to take her somewhere else.
By this point, Ymir Fritz is speechless to hear the kind and empathetic words for the first time in her life. She felt an overwhelming emotion running through her, makes her gladly take Bad Wolf's hand and walk with her through the portal. To the last place that Bad Wolf wants to visit.
Somewhere, a whirling circular object opens up, and steps out are the Bad Wolf and Ymir Fritz. They are in the forest. Bad Wolf grinned while Ymir is shocked to see that she finally comes out of that prison, step into the outside world. Ymir looks around her surroundings and saw the tree, the flower, and the grass. She touched them, able to feel them with her hand as she can only watch them from afar. And now, she feels satisfied and happy to touch and feel them again.
"Do you noticed a change around you?" Bad Wolf smirk as Ymir looks at her in confusion. "Your clothes. Did you notice it has changed?" Ymir then takes a look at her clothes and is shocked to see her usual clothes have changed.
From her tattered slave clothing, she is now wearing a gray cotton long button dress with long sleeves, a belt around her waist, a black bowtie on the dress collar. In addition, she wears a pair of white leggings and black Oxford shoes. Though, she still has her cloth headband.
"Do you like it?" Bad Wolf asks as she notices Ymir's face shown nervous and being uncomfortable at her new clothes.
"It's just that..." Ymir replies in a quiet tone. "I am a slave... I only wear clothes for slave. Not this one." She pointed to her new outfit. "Can you please return my clothes?" She sheepishly asks as she doesn't want to be rude to the woman who has been nice to her.
Bad Wolf look at the girl with a friendly and genuine smile as she said. "Thinks as a gift, Ymir. And it would be rude if you rejected a nice gift, right?"
Ymir nods her head and asks. "Though, do you have to give me a Marleyan clothes?"
"Who said that is a Marleyan clothes?" Bad Wolf chuckled as Ymir's eyebrows raise. "What you're wearing is a 1950s British winter dresses."
And now, Ymir is even more confused at what she said and curious about the British that she just talked about. Feeling curious, she asks: "British? What are you talking about?"
"Oh. I think I forgot to tell you that I am not from this world. I am from another world." Bad Wolf grinned as Ymir is even more shocked than before. "Come on, we do not want to waste any more time. There is a last person I want to saved as well." Ymir then follows her obediently.
As they walked through the field of grasses, Ymir quickly realized that she is in Wall Maria, especially they walked out from the Forest of Giant Trees. While they walk through the field, Ymir curiously asks Bad Wolf about how she makes everything stops moving, which they walked through a dozen of Titans on their way to the unknown destination. The blond-haired woman replies that her power can be similar to god, but she wouldn't explain how since it's a spoiler. Ymir then asks another question about the alternate world that the woman claimed her origin. And again, she can't answer it either since it's a spoiler. They walked for a while until they stopped to see one particular Titan which Ymir recognized. Or she would say, her.
This Titan is very tall and, like most regular Titans, resembled a male human. Its core distinguishing feature was its characteristic smile, in which its lips fixed wide open, exposing its teeth and gums at all times. It had a thin, thin frame with stocky proportions, in which its ribs were visibly apparent, and it possessed an unusually-long neck. It had medium-length, light hair that only barely reached down to its neck and featured small, deeply sunken dark eyes.
"Do you recognized this Titan, Ymir?" Bad Wolf melancholy asks as Ymir guessed that she know its background.
"Yes, this Titan used be a human. Her name is Dina Fritz." Ymir replies. "A Royal bloodline... And one of my descendant." She looks away with guilt since she is the one who has built it and knows her history.
Dina Fritz used to be a beautiful woman and the first wife of Grisha Yeager, a member of the Eldian Restorationists. And before having her son Zeke, she was the last descendant of the royal family living in Marley.
After Karl Fritz leaves to Paradis Island with his people meanwhile those on the mainland are subjugated and oppressed by their former victims, some Eldians attempted to resist and restore Eldia. The remaining members of the Fritz family still on the continent led a revolutionary army against Marley. Unfortunately, they had failed, and its members being executed, making a few members of the Fritz family have to run away and hide from the Marley government. Dina Fritz learning that she is a descendant of the Fritz family and wants to help her people to gain equality and overthrow the Marley due to her childhood.
Since Dina was a child, she has witnessed the harsh and cruel world by herself. When learning that she is a descendant of the Royal family, her parents told her the horrible things the Marleyans would do if they found out about her. Dina was scared and yet angry at the cruel treatment of her people. Like when she had worked so hard to earn enough money for her parent's medical treatment, she was only paid minimum wage, which was unfair for her to have worked so hard. So in return for her months of work, she only gets paid with minimum wage, gets slapped in the face, and gets kick on her stomach when she protests, but that did not make up for the days when she has to endure the throwing and name-calling.
Dina wants to help her people, but she cannot do it because she doesn't have anything to stage a rebellion. But luckily, one day, she was recruited by the Owl to the Eldian Restorationists, a radical group in Liberio that plotted to destroy Marley and restore Eldia as a world power. From that day, she becomes a very loyal follower of the Eldian Restorationists. And have met a man who makes her happy and cried for it. His name is Grisha Yeager, and she is glad to marry him and gave birth to their child, Zeke Yeager.
Unfortunately, their family and revolutionary life have comes to an end when Zeke has sold them out to the Marleys, being turned into pure Titans, and is doomed to wander for eternity on Paradis Island.
Ymir looks away from the Smiling Titan. Not because Dina was her descendant, but that Titan was the one who has killed Eren's mother during the Fall of Wall Maria. And Ymir is indirectly responsible for Carla's death.
"But why are we here?" Ymir asks the main question.
The woman's face turns gloomy and sympathetic as she responds. "This poor creature doesn't deserve to be punished with this cruel fate. She is only trying to help her people but naively believe that she is doing the right thing." Then her face turns into disgust and anger. "Those Marleyans are the same as the Eldians, monsters and those who used power for conquest, death, destruction, and oppressive to others... While they just lied to the world that your people were monsters and devils." She said her thoughts as Ymir look down, thinking she is right about this world. "But I am saying this to all the suffering and deaths still happens around the world." Ymir looks up. "No more." And she did the miracle that makes Ymir amazed and astonished.
With her eyes glows, Bad Wolf stretches up her right arm and point at the Smiling Titan. The Titan's nape immediately opens up and flies out is a small woman. Bad Wolf landed her on the ground as she and Ymir get a good look at her. She is in her mid-twenties, and her eyes were large and light in color, and so was her fair skin. Her blonde hair passes her cheekbones but does not reach her shoulders, kept parted down the middle. It is a bit longer in the back than in the front and has some layers to it. And she is wearing a long gray button-up gown and hasn't changed for 13 years. Her name is Dina Fritz.
Dina fluttered her eyes daintily open like she was waking up from a long slumber. In some sense, that was pretty true. Her eyes adjusted to the light the outside world provides to her. It was early morning, so she could only make out two silhouettes are on top of her face, which made her panic and thrash as she tried to control her muscles in fleeing.
"Woah, easy there." Bad Wolf hands up as she tried to calm Dina down. "You are safe now, Mrs. Yeager."
Dina took her opportunity to look at the two strangers who are standing in front of her. The first one is a peasant woman, and the second is a girl wearing a gray cotton long button dress. They all looked blonde like her.
Then she shakingly asks. "W-what happened to me? Who are you people? And where am I?"
"Relax, Dina. You are at Wall Maria, on Paradis Island. And I just free you from your neverending nightmare." Bad Wolf said as Dina remembers everything from her childhood to when she got injected and turned into a Titan before saying a promise to her frightening husband. "And my name is the Bad Wolf, and the little girl over there..." Bad Wolf gestures to Ymir as she waved her hand. "...Is Ymir Fritz, or you people call her as Founder Ymir."
At first, Dina looks at the woman in odd when she introduces her name to her. And then, her eyes are widened as her mouth gape in shock as she is standing in front of Ymir Fritz, the first Titan. However, she found it strange to see Ymir in a new set of clothes, which looked like Marley's.
She pushed her thoughts away as she asks another topic. "Then can you explain what have happened after I turned into Titan?" Bad Wolf nods her head as she begins to explain all the events to her.
She explains that Dina has been a Titan for 18 years, and many things have happened during those years. Bad Wolf told her about how Grisha was saved, been inherited the Attack Titan from Eren Kruger, or known as the Owl, and have a second marriage during his time at Shiganshina District in Wall Maria.
When Dina heard about Grisha was saved by the Owl. She is glad for it but later horrified and sad that everyone who possessed the Nine Titans will die in 13 years and its method, which means her husband is now dead. Though she felt a flare of jealously at the thought of Grisha married another woman, but she supposed she couldn't blame him for it.
Bad Wolf continues to tell about the attack of the Warrior unit on Wall Maria that lead to the disastrous event and the following events. She tells her about how Wall Maria falls and the death of Carla Yeager, Grisha's wife and Eren's mother. She tells her about the Operation to reclaim Wall Maria, where the Royal Government sent the refugees to their death to alleviate the food shortage. The battle of Trost District when the Warriors in disguise begun their second attack, but luckily their plan came to foil as Eren have blocked the broken gate by using giant stone. And finally, the Bad Wolf tells her that she has paid a visit to the Scouts, Ymir Fritz, and Dina herself to offer them a chance to saved this world from the end of the world, which she can't tell them about it.
When Dina heard about the Falls of Wall Maria, she was shocked and horrified at the tremendous loss. But nothing can compare to how her Titan self had eaten Eren's mother, making her vomited on the ground, and she then later recover from it. When Bad Wolf told her about the battle of Trost, she covered her mouth when she learns that Eren was being eaten but later sigh in relief as Ymir tell her that she saved him in time as he transformed into the Attack Titan.
And back to the present, Dina is still shocked to learn that the Bad Wolf is some kind of God that she can do anything like stopping time. Consider that she had pulled her out of her Titan's nape with ease. And they have been talked for nearly an hour in a field with dozens of Titans.
Then, Dina reluctantly asks Bad Wolf. "But why me? Why did you choose me?"
Bad Wolf chuckles as she replies. "I don't know, but I do know one thing from my experiences is... that everyone are important in their life. They may not know about it, but when the times come, they will be someone important to others."
Dina looked at the woman in shock and surprise to hear such wise words. And then, Bad Wolf materialize clothes from thin air and gave it to Dina, said. "You need to change your gown since where you two going, will need a nice clothes for it."
Dina thankfully takes the clothes from the woman's hand and dresses them. Much to her surprise, she is wearing her previous outfit, wore a long ankle-length skirt with a white button-up blouse and black coat. In some sense, she is glad to be back in her old suit since it holds many memories back in the continent.
Bad Wolf open the portal and facing Dina and Ymir Fritz, and said. "There is no turn back now, okay?" They nod. "Are you sure you want to do this?"
Dina thought for a moment before she replies to her with determination. "I want to repay my crime for my stepson, Eren, for killing his mother. I want to see my boy so that I can be with him."
Bad Wolf smiles at her response. She has to admit she likes that woman. And then she said. "However, you guys gotta need to change your name. Can't let the other knows about your family line as well as the First Titan in the history." She points at the two.
Dina and Ymir Fritz look at each other and nod in agreement as Ymir asks. "Then what names you gotta give us, Bad Wolf?"
"I already have." Bad Wolf smirks. "Dina and Amelia Fager. Those will be your temporary names, got it?" The duo nods. "And the only person know your identities is the man will be your host. And don't worry, he wouldn't spoil any secrets to everyone, okay?" At first, they were tensed but sigh in relief that the man is the secret keeper. "He will wait for the right time to tell them. Or you guys will reveal them."
After a few minutes of discussion, Dina and Ymir begin to walk in the portal before Ymir stops and asks. "Aren't you coming with us?"
Bad Wolf smiles as she replies to her question. "I will join you guys later. I just need a moment to enjoy this world before I follow you." Ymir nods. "Oh wait, I forgot to tell you guys just like I forgot to tell the others."
Dina tilted her head in curiosity. "What is it?"
"The man you will meet would not like any normal people, so you guys would see him as a weirdo. Remember to tell the others about it so they wouldn't get headache, okay?" Bad Wolf sheepishly laughs as Dina and Ymir tilted their head in confusion. But later shrugs their shoulder and walk into the portal.
Bad Wolf watches them walk into the portal as they slowly disappeared along with the gate. Then, she walks around and observes the skies, the Titans, and the world. Bad Wolf knows its future and hopes there will be a chance to save this cruel yet beautiful world. A second chance to save this unfortunate world that she has chosen.
And she excitedly smirks at that as she started to disappear.
In the room with a big screen and cinema chairs in front of it. A portal opens up, and steps out is the Scouts consisting of Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Petra, Levi, Hange, and Erwin. They observe the room and see how it is clean and a nice room. They look around and tried to find the man who will be waiting for them while Hange is still drooling with an excited face as she tried to cope with the fact that she walks out of the portal, which disgusts Levi. But, they don't see the man everywhere.
"Where do you think he is, Commander?" Petra asks Erwin.
"I don't know. I guess we can wait for it." Erwin replies.
After he said it, another portal opens up, and steps out are the blond-haired strangers, a woman, and a girl. As they step out, they observe the room and saw the Scouts, the two of them keep their composure despite they a bit nervous and scared. But, the woman greets them first.
"Hello. Are you the ones that the woman has tell us about?" The woman greets them as the Scouts could guess who that woman is.
"Let me guess." Levi spoke in a flat tone. "The woman have blond hair, wear a tattered peasant clothes, have weird name, and could be seen as crazy, right?" The woman nod. "Yup, that's her." Levi said to his comrades.
"Oh, I can't wait to know her more." Hange hopefully said.
"Though, why did she invites you?" Petra asks the woman and the girl.
"Well..." The woman scratches her head. "...She just came out of nowhere and asks me and my daughter to go into this portal. She didn't explain the reason, and she pushed us into this room." The woman explains as the Scouts sweat-dropped at Bad Wolf's action. They could not believe she just kidnapped a mother and daughter.
Well, she is crazy. The Scouts think in their head. After a moment of silence, Eren coughed as he decides to greet them. "Where are our manners? We should introduce to each other. My name is Eren Yeager. What are your names?"
He could have sworn that he saw the woman slightly flinches before she replies. "My name is Dina Fager. And this is my daughter, Amelia Fager." She gestures to Amelia as she waved her hand at them.
"Nice to meet you, Eren." Amelia shyly spoke.
"Nice to meet you too, Amelia." Mikasa greets her. "My name is Mikasa Ackerman, and the blond-haired boy over there is Armin Arlert." She points at Armin.
"Hello there, sweetie. My name is Petra Ral." Petra smiled to greet the girl.
"Erwin Smith. Nice to meet you, Mrs. Fager." Erwin greets Dina.
"And my name is Hange Zoë, and this shorty here is Levi." Hange enthusiastically greets them while Levi clicked his tongue in annoyance.
After a moment of introduction, Dina asks the Scouts. "Have you met the man here?"
"Nope, we just got here." Levi said. "Got something to say?"
"Well, Bad Wolf have tell us that the man we will met is... weird." She said as the Scouts raised their eyebrows.
"Weird?" Levi asks. "How weird?" Dina shrugs her shoulder as Levi pinches his nose in annoyance.
"How about we split up?" Armin suggested. "Eren, Mikasa, Hange, and I will go left while you guys go right to search for him." He tells his ideas to them. "Maybe he is at somewhere here and probaly sleep or something."
"Good ideas." Erwin nods. "Okay, peoples. Let split up and do like Arlert said."
After a few minutes of searching and look around the room, Armin's group doesn't have the luck to find the man, but on the other hand, Erwin's group has found something when Petra calls the rest. As they arrive, they could saw what Erwin and the others found as Armin asks.
"What did you guys found?" He asks as he and the others look at one of the chairs.
"Well, we found a large backpack." Erwin pointed at the brown backpack.
"We also found a coat and a hat." Levi said as he holds a dark-brown trench leather overcoat and brown fedora hat before putting them back on the backpack in the chair. "Probably his stuff."
"Not only that, we also found this cute cat here." Petra said as she holds a black British Shorthair cat who is grumpy. "Must be his pet. His name is..." She looks at its collar. "...Charles. You have a nice name there, Charles." She then faces the cat and looks at him cutely.
"Meow."
"So that's it, right?" Eren asks.
"Oh, we also found a large strange insect or something that we think it is sleeping or something like that." Petra said as the others confuse before they saw a giant insect that resembles a caterpillar. It's almost as big as a grown-up size, and its body is green with black and orange spots. The giant caterpillar seems to be sleeping as Amelia stands not far away and poking it with a stick.
Hange walks toward the caterpillar with a curious look and is morbidly fascinated at the size. She wonders how the caterpillar is giant as Hange snatched the stick from Amelia's hand and poked it. Meanwhile, the rest is staring at the giant caterpillar, can't look away from it.
"What the hell is this thing?" Armin spoke.
"We don't know. We found this thing lie there." Petra said as she glances at the insect. "Though, if I being honest, this caterpillar sure to give me a creep at its size."
"Yeah, me too." Dina said as she, Petra, and Mikasa nods in agreement. This caterpillar sure gave them a creep.
"Where does Amelia get the stick from?" Eren question.
"That's what you asking?" Levi looks at Eren in disbelief before he turns to Hange. "Hey, Four Eyes. Stop poking on that thing."
"I was doing observation and examination, Levi." Hange retorts before she looks back at the insect. "This is the first time I saw a giant insect, and I do not want to miss the opportunity to testing it." She said her thought as Levi wrinkled his nose.
"Look, we do not even know if this thing is dangerous. And from the look of it, it is sleeping." And to prove his point, Levi kick lightly at its body. "See?" He pointed at it. "It is sleeping, and it is best we do not wake it up."
"Fine." Hange pouted as she, Levi, and Amelia return to the group and continue their discussion.
"So..." Petra said as she glances all over the room. "So far, we haven't found him yet nor seeing him on sight. Only his stuff, his pet, and that caterpillar." She muttered at the last one.
"Yeah." Armin weakly said before he brightens up. "But look on the bright side, if we found his cat, then his cat can lead him. I heard pets always do that, isn't that right, boy?" He said as the cat nod.
However, Levi gave Armin a cold stare before he said. "I not look forward to it. That cat maybe not known where his owner is." He said as the cat hissing at him.
"Come on, Captain. Gave him a chance." Petra said as she smiled at the cat. "Charles, would you please lead us to your owner?"
"Meow!" The cat happily as its stand up and signal them to follow him. The Scouts, Dina, and Amelia were glad that they finally found the man.
"Meow!"...Until they saw Charles happily pat the caterpillar. Much to their disappointment as some of them stare at the cat and the caterpillar. Meanwhile, Levi gave Petra an 'I told you so' look.
"Hehe." Petra scratches her head in embarrassment. "Maybe he misunderstand us and lead us to his friend."
"Uh huh." Levi flatly said before he kicks the caterpillar again. "His friend indeed."
"Ugh! At this process, we never found the man." Eren said as he and a few others started to get frustrated.
"Yeah. Where the hell is he?!" Mikasa frustratedly said.
"I'm right here."
An irritated voice resounded near them, making them looked around the room discreetly, try to locate the source until they heard it a second time.
"I am right here." The voice called them again as they turned around and to see the bizarre scene in front of them. The caterpillar is now standing and facing them.
"AHHHHHHH!" Hange screamed in excitement and fascination, making everyone cover their ears from her scream. "Oh my god! It is a talking caterpillar! What an amazing discovery!"
"I am not a talking caterpillar, woman!" The caterpillar replies in exasperation. "I am a person! Hold on a minute." Then they heard a zipper, making everyone in the room could consider this day as the weirdest day in their life.
Steps out of the caterpillar is a messy black-haired man in his mid-thirties. He is wearing a white shirt with a black tie on his collar, dark pants, and the most noticeable is that he wore weird black glasses. Despite the Scouts, Dina and Amelia cannot tell the expression due to the black glasses, but they could tell that he is looking at them in annoyance and irritation.
"Now, who is the bloody hell that have been kicking and poking at me during my sleep?"
Then they stood dumbfounded as they found another person speaking a strange language and accents like Bad Wolf. They were silent for a moment until Armin said.
"Uh... Did you walk out a caterpillar?"
"What caterpillar?" The man said, pick up his sleeping bag. "This is a sleeping bag for your information."
"A... sleeping bag?" Eren said in disbelief as Hange whine in disappointment. "Why did you have a sleeping bag look like a caterpillar?"
"So you brats and kids wouldn't bother me when I sleep." He chuckles. "Works all the time." Then he frowns. "However, it didn't stop their curiosity to get close and poking with a stick. I can tell the blond-haired girl and the glasses woman have poking me, while the shorty with Napoleon complex has kick me. Thank god he didn't kick me that hard." He mutters at the last sentence as he put his sleeping bag in his backpack and picks up his coat and hat.
After he said, Hange, Amelia, and Levi have a mix of reactions. Hange awkwardly laughs as she sweat-dropped scratches her face with her index finger. Amelia has her hands on her back and looks at the man in odd with a poker face. Though, she couldn't help but let out a small giggle at the strange man have a sleeping bag look like a caterpillar. Very weird and funny, she thought.
Levi tries to study the man but lets out a growl when he calls him shorty. Though, he gets confused when he calls him having a problem called Napoleon complex. He needs to know him more, he thought.
"Alright, lads." The man faces the Scouts, Dina, and Amelia. "I'm pretty sure we haven't introduced ourselves yet. So, you first." He gestures to them as Charles perch on his shoulders.
"Right." Erwin coughs as he keeps his composure and introduces himself to the man. "Erwin Smith."
"Hange Zoë."
"Levi Ackermann."
"Petra Ral."
"Eren Yeager."
"Mikasa Ackermann."
"Armin Arlert."
"Dina Fager."
"Amelia Fager."
As she said her name, the man looked at her for a moment before he spoke. "Amelia Fager. Nice name." He compliments her, leaving her to be more curious about him.
Then he introduces himself. "The name is the Historian."
"Who?" They all spoke at the same time as they were confused about his name.
"Just the Historian." The man known as the Historian said as they are still perplexed. "Now then." The Historian put his hands in his coat. "Do you have any questions in your mind?"
"Yes." Eren replies. "What is that you are wearing?" He got curious at the dark glasses.
"It is called the sunglasses, thank you very much. And before you asks why am I wearing it? It because its cool." The Historian states his reason, which makes Eren not want to ask the following question he is going to asks. "What else?"
"Why are your voice and accents sound strange?" Petra asks as she is curious about his accents being similar to the Bad Wolf. "I do not recognize any accents you are speaking."
He sighs as he mutters 'Bloody hell' before he answers her question. "Speaking from experience, eh? Well, that is because I am a British." He answers as everyone in the room is now more confused than before.
What the hell is a British?!. They all have the same question in their head.
"I am not from your world." He answered the question they had been wondering when they met Bad Wolf and him. "I came from an alternate world called Earth, where humanity thrived and prospered, and a land free from Titans. So you could say I am an alien."
Everyone in the room is utterly surprise, shock, amazed, and in disbelief that the man known as the Historian comes from a planet called Earth, a land free from Titans. That is, what everyone has dreamed of, especially Eren and Amelia.
Then in a moment, they heard gibberish mutters. And, they see Hange are in crazy and exciting mode as she slowly walks toward the Historian, then her hand snatches his hand, violently shaking, and greets. "It's a pleasure to meet another human from an alternate world, Mr. Historian."
The Historian gives a forced smile, shakes her hand in return, and greets her in an uncertain tone. "Sure. It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Ms. Zoe."
"Please, calls me Hange." Hange said as she let go of his hand and walked to her comrades. "I will never wash this hand again. Never." She mutters in excitement, making Levi look at her in disgust.
"Wait!" Armin said as he broke out of his daydream. "How did you know about the Titans?" This question got the attention of everyone as they just met the Historian.
"Bad Wolf sent you guys to me to prevent the apocalypse, right?" They nod. "And how do I know the Titans despite I never meet you guys and learn them before, right?" They nod again. "Well..." He opens his backpack and takes out a thick book. "...It's because I read your history from the history book. Gotta say, you lots have experience many bloody things that could leave you scars and nightmare in your bloody head. I gotta be honest, you are strong enough to survive the nightmares. It is a miracle you haven't had mental breakdown yet."
You have no ideas what shit we have been through. Eren, Mikasa, Amelia all have thoughts in their heads. They have to witness their parents' death in their own eyes. However, Eren and Mikasa have pulled it through the trauma and continue to live while Amelia continues to suffer and is blindly obedient to the Royal families in the Paths. Fair much to say, they have different ways to live their life.
Even the experienced ones like Erwin, Levi, Hange, and Petra have to get used to many deaths in their expeditions. But easier said than done, they had to face the family, relatives, and acquaintances of their deceased and sacrificed comrades. And judging from the Historian's tone when he compliments the Scouts, they could guess that he also knows their feelings and sympathy with them.
While Armin felt ashamed of himself as he recalled his first mission at Trost, he had a mental breakdown when he saw his friends got eaten by Titans. Dina still has not forgiven herself for had eaten Eren's mother and feels nauseous when she thinks about it.
But not as much as I've been through in my life. The Historian thoughts as he looks at everyone with pity and empathy. I pity you all, especially you, Eren, and Amelia. Or should I say, Ymir Fritz. He looks at them with sad eyes. Maybe Bad Wolf is right. Your world deserves a second chance to receive salvation.
"Anyway." He gained everyone's attention. "You guys come here to search the answer or find a way to prevent the end of the world, right?"
"Yeah." Eren said in a hopeful tone. "Bad Wolf sent us to you for help. To saved our home from deaths and destruction that she has premonition."
"Yeah... about that." He looks up as he is thinking about something before facing Eren. "Sorry kid, I cannot spoiled to you."
"W-what?" Eren and the others look at him in disbelief.
"Why?" Levi asks him in an interrogative tone.
"Because if I tell you, you wouldn't believe me at all. Heck, you guys will call me a liar or something." The Historian states his reason.
"Try us." Levi said in a daring yet dangerous tone as he crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes on the book. "Or we can take the book by forces and read by ourselves." He said as he, Eren, and Mikasa are tired of the shenanigans that happen all day. And they don't need another one at all while the rest are unsure about this situation.
The Historian smirk as he grabs the book and pats it. "I figure some of you guys will tries to take it by forces. So," He put the history book inside his backpack. "...I foresaw that situation." He grins toward them. "...And to disappoint you guys. I came up a back up plan for it." Then showing them his backpack zipper locked with a combination padlock. "You guys have to tries your best to break or unlock it to get the book."
Frankly, they didn't see that coming, especially Levi since he was a notorious thug in the Underground city. He facepalms for not notice it sooner, and he should know that every time people refuse to give something, they would put their precious stuff in a safe or a secret place. And the Historian guy would pull the same thing but never predict that he would put the book inside the backpack with a small padlock.
"Besides..." The Historian facing them with a wide grin and spoke in excitement tone. "...I cannot lose an audience that quick."
"Huh?" Everyone in the room is completely surprised as their faces are showed dot eyes and mouth agape.
"Yes." He grins as he is excited about it. "You guys will be my audience. And I will become your host and your teacher, Mr. Historian. It's nice to meet you all."
There is something wrong with this guy, literally. They all thought to themselves as their faces express blue wavy colored, still have shocked eyes with sweat-dropped. Feeling stunned and confused about the awkward situation, not to mention they saw their host or teacher sleep in a sleeping bag look like a caterpillar.
"Oh, come on." The Historian still greets them with a smile. "Why the sullen face?"
"Well..." Petra awkwardly said. She is still sweat-dropped. She tries her best to tell him nicely, and she doesn't want to hurt his feelings. "Look, we want to be your audience... or your students. But..."
"Sorry to say this, but we had enough of your nonsense... Or whatever you are doing." Levi bluntly said. He, along with some of the others, apparently had enough with this shit.
"We came all the way here to find a way to saved our world. And yet, not only you refused to tell us..." Mikasa angrily said.
"...But you treat all of this as somekind of a joke or a game to you." Eren said. "And now, you expected us to be your audience or your students. What kind of a joke you and the madwoman are pulling at?!"
"ENOUGH!" Erwin loudly said as he tried to defuse this situation, making Levi, Eren, Mikasa quickly oblige his order. He sighs as he speaks to his subordinates. "I believe there is a reason why Mr. Historian do this, right?" He faces the Historian as the latter still grins.
"Yup." The Historian said as he started to walk around his audience. "Because you guys are missing a golden opportunity that is open up to you. A chance of a lifetime is in front of you, and yet, you are rejecting it."
"Interesting." Hange grins as she and Erwin catch up on what he is saying. "Care to tell us what you have in your mind."
"Erwin Smith." He smiles face toward the commander of the Scouts. "You're smart, curious and always want to find information about the outside world, right?" He then whispered in his ear. "And your father definitely want to stay here to study another civilization from an alternate world. And this is your chance to prove he was right, Commander Smith. Make him proud." The Historian pat Erwin's shoulder. Left him completely speechless about his words.
"Hange Zoe." He then faces Hange as her eyes are full of sparkles. "You are very passionate and driven in pursuit of new knowledge, making you a scientist. Hell, I can see the craziness in your eyes." He grins. "So why wasting this opportunity to studies a new world where no Titans and to see all the great achievements of mankind?"
"You spoke in my language, Mr. Historian." Hange excitedly said. "Of course, I cannot waste a chance in my lifetime!" Hange smirks. "Sign me in."
"Eren, Mikasa, Armin." The Historian faces the trio. "You kids always want to explore the outside world, especially to see the ocean, right?" The three of them agape as they know what he is saying.
"Then you must have seen the ocean, right?" Armin hopefully asks as the Historian nod. "Then how does the sea look like?"
The Historian smirks as he pats the blond-haired kid. He said. "Just like what in your grandfather's book have written, Armin. The ocean is made up of saltwater, and covers around seventy percent of the surface of your world. Making all the merchants will kill each other for it." He chuckles as the trio uncertainty laughs at that statement. "But kid, not only you seeing the ocean, you can also see a lot of wonders in my world, and you will admire the beauty of it. It will be absolutely FANTASTIC, you kids would say!" The trio is speechless at what the Historian said. And now they thinking about it, he is right. It's a golden opportunity for them to learn more about the outside world. Or they should say an alternate reality.
"Amelia Fager." The Historian faces her. He spoke with a smile on his face. "You are brought here for a reason. I know that inside your heart..." He points at her chest, making her felt uneasy. "...Is the heart that once filled with curiosity and interest in the exoticness. So I am here to revive your broken heart, you should treat this as a bless for you, Ymir Fritz." He whispered the last sentence to her ear as her eyes are widened in shock and look at him in surprise. Then he returns to her by giving her a wink as he steps back. Amelia still looks at him in shock. Then, she could feel her heart is slowly beating, but she decided to ignore it and whisper to Dina about him.
That man certainly has something special inside of him. That is all Amelia's thoughts about the Historian.
"So..." The Historian clapped his hand to gain everyone's attention. "What do you think?"
"The point that you managed to persuade us to join your stupid skit, right?" Levi said. He also is convinced by his host words. "You certainly have charisma to pulled this."
"Yeah. I want to see your world too." Petra said. She also agrees to watch Earth.
"I will speak for all the people in this room. We are agree to stay and watch your world." Erwin said. The Scouts applaud him.
"Yeah, and besides, I can't say no to the new knowledge I gotta learn." Hange said with widely grinning on her face.
"Fantastic." He grins toward them as he rubs his hands. "Now then, I will get my special hat for this special occasion. Hold this one for me, please." He throws his hat on top of Amelia's head. She retrieves it and looks at him in odd as he walks toward his backpack before he turns around and comments. "You know, you should wear that hat. It's look fit for you. The brown hat look certainly fit for your grey colored dress." Amelia looks at him in oddity before shrugs her shoulder and wears the brown fedora.
The Historian opens another compartment of the backpack and searches inside for a moment before he grins. "Ah, there it is." He pulled out another hat. He brushes it off, wears it, and showing the audience his hat. A brimless cylindrical or somewhat cone-shaped made of red felt, with a flat top that has a tassel.
"What the hell is that?" Levi asks as his eyes twitched at the ridiculous in front of him. While Dina observes the hat for a moment, she maybe has seen it from the people from the Mid-East.
"It's fez." Historian proudly said. "And its cool."
"Look ridiculous." Levi bluntly said as Hange hit his shoulder.
"Hey, fezzes are cool. And I wearing a fez now." The Historian pointed at his hat. "Anyway, we should start early, right? Now, please take a seat."
The audience went to the cinema seats and sat on them. Eren, Mikasa, and Armin sit together while Erwin, Levi, Hange, and Petra sit in another row. The Historian waves at Dina and Amelia as he gestures them to sit with him. They decided to trust him since he is trustworthy to keep their secret.
"Are you ready to watch planet Earth, my world?" The Historian said to the audience as they were excited to see it. "You guys not only see my world, but you also will watch an spectacular adventure of a man."
"Ooh. Who is he?" Hange asks.
He smiles as everyone is curious about the man the host tells them. "The greatest man in the universe."
Phew, finally done with the prologue of the story. Are you all excited for the Attack on Titan's characters to watch the greatest adventure of the Doctor?
