Chapter twenty
The next day…
"Any luck love!" No, I have been sitting here on this stupid sofa for half a stupid hour trying to get one of theses stupid legs to move and nothing. Just carry on answering the door and let me concentrate.
"No, nothing yet!" Maybe my intense staring at my legs is making them too scared stiff to move?
"Morning Shadow, any luck with what?" Tails I am trying to concentrate.
"Come on Shads, take a break before your legs like combust from your staring." Whatever and come sit a little closer.
"Morning Tails, I was trying to make one of my legs move but they seem to be stubborn." And that is how far I will take that so don't ask why. Just sit there on that chair with that smile and go with it.
"Oh, why?" You just had to didn't you and Sonic don't you dare tell him anything personal.
"Because." Yeah I'm grumpy, get over it.
"Aw, come here Mr Grumpy-hog." Cuddles wont make me, ok maybe getting scratched by the ear might change my mood to a more better one.
"Mr Grumpy is trying to move a leg because yesterday I swore one of them twitched after we made love."
"Sonic, don't go sharing our personal intimate business with others." This is so embarrassing, I feel like my cheeks are melting. Why does Sonic have to be so chaos damn open and honest with Tails, why can't he keep some information to himself.
"Surely that could be down to how long you were both making love for and how long Shadow was in the same position." That's it just come and kill me now.
"Nah bro, that was the first time since before the accident his legs has ever moved period. We can be at it for over an hour, not change positions and there will never be any movements coming from Shadows lower half." Why must this conversation happen?
"Can we please stop talking about this and talk about something else like, I don't know, why Tails is here in the first place." Pleas just change the subject before I die right here right now.
"Oh, well maybe it did move on its own which is a clear sigh of healing. I am here because Sonic asked me to come sort out cameras as well as fix the bug in the security system so it stops going into lockdown over nothing." Ah yeah I remember Sonic saying Tails was coming over about the stupid system, nice to know Sonic mentioned my idea about cameras outside.
"Say the lockdown system cannot be fixed, will it be removed at all?" Sorry Sonic but I have to know so sigh all you like.
"Well if I cannot fix it then there really is no point in it being there so I will remove it." Tails I am hoping you cannot fix the issues within the system, I hate that stupid lockdown system.
"But you can fix it right?" Sonic just relax and don't get so panicky.
"If fixing up the AI so it knows what is a threat and what is not doesn't work then I do not know what else I can do at this point in time. I am at least ninety percent sure the new data chip will fix the problem." That is a high percentage and knowing you as well as I do, the system will be fixed with no more issues.
"I say if you cannot fix it then I do not have an issue with that." And I think I have made Sonic a tad bit upset with that comment.
"You would be alright with it Shads," Is someone Mr Grumpy?
"Well yeah I am because I do not appreciate being woken up at stupid o'clock in the damn morning. That is the issue I have at the moment and I would very much like that to be fixed in whatever way it can be, even if it means removing the entire system and putting in something else." Which I really am hoping the system will be replaced with something less lockdown like.
"Like I said to ya love, if you can think of something better then we will remove the entire lockdown system and go with your idea. Only if your idea is logical, not destructive and is safe for our friends to approach our home without feeling threatened." Damn it Sonic, you have destroyed my idea of a killer laser system around the woods. Actually that doesn't sound like a bad idea, well I do not think it does but I am very sure Sonic will disagree so keeping that one to myself.
"Ok here's one I have just thought up on the spot, now here me out and humour me ok my love. How does an EMP system sound? Think about it, Eggman sends out robots so an EMP will disable them long enough for you to come and save my hedgehog ass from being attacked." Yeah I can totally see you are liking this idea, that grin says it all.
"That does sound like it can work and it wont take me long to set up." See even Tails is on my side with this one.
"Ok I admit it does sound like a good idea." Ok and I so know you have something that will crash this idea.
"But what if Egghead gets smart and sends someone living to grab ya?" And there it is, the bullet that shots my idea dead.
"Fine then instead of an automatic lockdown system, make it remote controlled and give me the remote so I can activate the shutters and send out a distress signal to your communicator." Yeah do that, I so want that.
"I can do that too Sonic if you want, it wont take long to get up and running and it will ensure of no false alarms during the night." Wow Tails is seriously agreeing with me today.
"And how will you know if someone breaks into our home Shadow?" Shut up and stop grinning at me like a cocky school boy challenging the teacher with smug comebacks.
"The cameras duh, we can have them linked to the TV and put it on when you go out. I will keep watch in here and if I see something suspicious then I press the button, the shutters slam down and an alarm gets sent to your communicator to alert you I am in need of your help." Ok smart ass, find an issue with that one.
"And you will be fine with watching the cameras for hours at a time?" Sonic I used to go off for hours and stay in one place looking at whatever I wanted to look at so I think I can flick from camera to camera for however long you are out for.
Not only that but I used to stare at the planet for hours back in the days of my first months alive so the answer to your question, yes I can.
"Sonic, I am trying to help sort out this issue while also pleasing you. Alls you are doing is finding faults to my ideas and crashing them. I didn't once do this to you when you decided to put the damn system up in the first place. In fact you did this all behind my back and expected me to be happy about it. I know it is for my protection and your peace of mind but the least you can do here is try one of my ideas to see if it works. It is either those or a deadly laser system that blasts anything that moves too close to the house." I have a damn good point here Sonic so be thankful I am not going behind your back and changing things.
"Shadow does have a point Sonic and it wouldn't hurt to at lease give them a try." Seriously, you are actually backing me up instead of Sonic?
"Ok, ok, fine. We will try out your ideas love but if they do not work then we are going to sort out the AI in the lockdown system and have it back to being automatic." That is all I am asking my love.
"Thank you my love, I really appreciate this and I swear I will not allow anything to get too near home." So give me a smile Sonic and at least look happy instead of the grumpy defeated look you are showing.
Ok then do not smile but at least try. Fine don't try and be grumpy I had back up from your brother this time.
"It will take me a few days to have it up and running so I'll make a start." Tails you can take as long as you like but maybe for Sonics sake you might want to finish up in three days or he might not be happy again.
