Chapter twenty one

One week later…

"Shadow you have to promise me you will press that button." Sonic we have been through this so many times I have forgotten exactly how many times you have made me promise to put myself on lockdown.

"Sonic do you trust me?" Because right now it feels like you do not.

"Yeah of course I do but I also know you very well and I need to be sure I can leave you knowing you will put yourself on lockdown. We both know you like to fight to protect yourself and not rely on things such as our new system to do that." Point, set and match to you my love but I swear I will press the lockdown button.

"Sonic I cannot get up from this sofa therefore I cannot run and fight whoever is dumb enough to come too close with bad intentions. I am going to be sitting here, watching the cameras on the TV and have the lockdown remote right beside me so I can press it. What I want you to do is not forget the code to release me from my protective bubble or type in the wrong code out of panic. You get two chances to type it in on your new communicator, get those wrong then I am stuck in here for five days before it unlocks itself." So in other words my love, don't screw it up because I do not want to be alone for that long and have no physical contact with you.

"Yeah I know the code love so relax." Yes I am so relaxed, can you not tell I am all chilled? Is the frown and serious look not proof enough I am relaxed?

"It is 24601 ok now you know I know the code." Ok now I really do feel better knowing you know the code without having to check if it is right or not.

"Aright just get out of here already. All will be fine." And possibly a little boring too.

"Ok and I will pick up some dinner on my way back. Love ya babe and please press the button if trouble comes your way." Sonic get the hell out of our house already before I press it now.

"Love you too." And loving the kiss good bye too but it feels as if you wont be back later, as if this is a permanent good bye.

Ten minutes later…

"Yep I was right, this is going to be very boring. I half want something to happen just for some entertainment."

"Maybe I should have asked Tails to put cameras all over the woods too and not just around the house."

Nothing, nothing, nothing, bird, nothing…this is so tedious. One thing is for sure, I am getting button pressing exercise with flicking from camera to camera.

Half an hour later…

"Hello what do we have here?"

Looks like I am about to have a visitor and not one I will like. Should I press the lockdown button just to avoid a visit from Eggmans portable TV thing? I mean it is just floating there a few feet away from the front door and doing nothing. It is as if it is thinking or wondering how to knock. Yeah I'm pressing it, I do not trust that TV thing.

"Huh, why isn't it working? God damn work!" Oh shit this is so not good, it was working fine yesterday when we tested it.

"Where's my phone." Oh chaos where is it?

"I am so dumb, it is beside me. Ok getting Sonic up and…Oh shit." The damn thing is moving closer to the door.

"Ok it is ringing, pick up my love please pick up." Just pick up your chaos damn phone and…

"Hey love what's up?"

"It is not working, I pressed the damn lockdown button and it is…" And now we need a new front door. I knew that TV thing was not to be trusted and apparently packing heat too.

"Sonic I am in serious trouble here and your help is very appreciated right now." Ok and that TV is in our living room and now floating right in front of me.

"I'm on my way babe as we speak. Just stay calm."

"Sonic it is doing something I do not like, it is switching on and, great Eggman is on the screen now." What does Eggman want anyway and why send a TV thing?

"Now that isn't any way to greet your guest Shadow."

"Guest? You broke into my home without an invite. What do you want?" I just need to keep him distracted until Sonic gets here.

"Keep him talking, I'm like a minute away." No don't hang up Sonic.

"Honestly? I came to do this." What? Oh so now the lockdown is…wait he hacked it.

"I have been keeping a watch over you all and knew about this little lockdown system. It's nice and I wouldn't mind the blueprints to it but that can wait for another day."

"Are you going to hurry up and tell me what you are doing here or are you going to keep rambling on like an old man talking about his life story?" Man you are boring me, just get it over with already.

"You can talk Shadow, you are older than I am." Seems like I hit a nerve.

"You do not count the fifty years I spent in suspended animation for I wasn't living my life during that time. My life was frozen until I was awakened so year doesn't count old man." Maybe I shouldn't be getting him angry considering we are locked in here until Sonic can get the…what if Eggman changed the codes and Sonic cannot get in?

"I would watch what you say to me Shadow. We are locked in here for however long I say and that boyfriend of yours wont be getting in either. I cracked the code and changed it so lets get down to business before Sonic comes to my base instead." Great, this is just great. Well I might as well try to seem interested in what Eggman has to say.

"Fine I will hear you out but if I do not like what I hear then you can say good bye to your stupid TV." I do not care it will explode in my face after I blast it then again it could start a fire and I will be roasted alive.

Ok I wont do that but Eggman doesn't need to know I wont.

"And risk setting your home on fire and you being cooked alive, I very much doubt it you will risk that." I hate the fact he knows me enough to know what I will and will not do.

"So Dr what can I do for you?" I swear when I am better I am going to hunt you down and do something so bad to you that you will be the one unable to walk.

"No need to be so aggressive Shadow, I am not here to cause you harm." Sure you are not Dr.

"Yeah, so why are you here if not to make my life hell?" I hate having to be nice and civil to him but I rather do it then have Sonic organise my funeral.

"I could quite easily make your life hell and I did plan to but I have changed my mind." Well aren't I so lucky.

"You changed your mind in making my condition worse for me" Yeah sorry but I do not believe you.

"I was planning a way in getting to you, locking you up then threaten Sonic with harming you if he didn't back down, hence why I am here. Was going to go through with it too until I got here." Yet you sill locked me in my home and have made it so Sonic cannot get in.

"Please proceed Dr, I am growing curious now." I am not but it might be best to keep him sweet for now. Keep him talking for as long as possible and give Sonic time to get me out.

"It seems no matter what I do you will always overcome it and it be like nothing happened. I also know Sonic wont ever back down and will get to you before I could do a thing about it. So I have come to say I am no longer going to attack you or make plans to kidnap you." Still not believing it yet why would he come all this way and say this?

"What has gotten you so scared all of a sudden?" This is the only explanation I can think of, you wouldn't just stop something for no reason.

"What makes you think I am scared?" Wow no need to shout.

"Ok if you are not scared then why stop your plans?" You might as well share, you came all this way and you should know I would ask this.

"Yeah Egghead spill!" Seems like Sonic found you.

"How did you get here Sonic?" Wow Sonic looks vexed to the core and I don't half blame him.

"Let Shadow go now!" I am glad I am not Eggman right now.

"I will but you have someone else to worry about that is far more threatening than me. My satellites orbiting the planet have picked up something very disturbing and I have come to warn Shadow of it since this involves him." Say what now?

"How does this involve me?" I have a very bad feeling I am not going to like the answer.

"There is a comet heading towards us and it is showing hundreds of life signals. I fear the Black Arms have returned and will be after Shadow for to them Shadow is a traitor." Oh shit I knew I wouldn't like the answer.

"Black Doom is dead along with his army so either you are lying or you are lying." Sonic I think you should calm down before you go dark and do things you will regret.

"Sonic, my love, please try to calm down and…"

"No Shadow I will not calm down!" Interrupting me is a sure way to piss me off Sonic but I will let it slide due to you being very angry and scared.

"Sonic do you not remember me telling you Black Doom vanished therefore could still be alive somewhere? Yes I eliminated his home and soldiers but I am sure he made it out half alive." Thank you for not interrupting me again Sonic.

"And when were you ever going to share that news?" Oh shut up Eggman.

"Never because I was also sure he would never return if he was alive. He has had a taste of defeat and how powerful I can truly be so why would he want to repeat that?" I swear if this is a trick and a lie then I am so going to chaos blast you Dr.

"Release Shadow now and leave all this to us." And what will we do if this isn't a trick? I am in no condition to fight them.

"Alright, alright Sonic, just calm down." I agree please calm yourself.

"Charming, no good bye before switching off?" Whatever at least the shutters are lifting now and that stupid TV is finally making a move to get out of my house.

"Shadow you ok?" I guess Tails was waiting outside for Sonic to succeed.

"Yeah I am doing fine Tails but I do believe Sonic is going to come home in a very upset mood!"

"Good to see you are ok and I am pretty sure he will be. After what Eggman just pulled I would be surprised if Sonic wasn't unhappy." I don't think that will be the reason to his bad mood.

"I am going to make a start in removing the lockdown security system, Sonic wants it gone. Call me if you need me ok Shadow." So all it took was Eggman to highjack it and us it against us for it to be removed?

"Yeah sure!" I kind of don't want it gone now.
