(The Owl House X Sonic the Hedgehog)
Chapter 4: Night time shopping
It is the dead of night, Sonic enters the city center marketplace, he wears a brown cloak in order to prevent standing out.
"Now if what Luz told me on the first night was true," Sonic mumbled to himself as he passed through the crowd. "The night market is the prime shopping point for rare and taboo items. Making it the perfect place for some charlatan to sell the emerald."
Sonic pulls out a newly acquired map of the marketplace, there is a green glowing spot representing Sonic's emerald, and a yellow glowing spot representing the other emerald that Sonic was pursuing. As Sonic walked through the marketplace, the green spot inched closer to the yellow spot.
"Now, the emerald should be in…" Sonic is pushed aside before he can finish his sentence. A crowd formed around a giant tent with a glowing neon sign labeled "Mud & Sundry". Sonic saw a poster outside the tent saying, "Earn a rare Galdur Stone! Each attempt is only ten Snails!", and the picture showed the yellow chaos emerald. "No refunds" is in small print
"I may not know what Galdur Stone is," Sonic said to himself, "But I know a chaos emerald when I see one!"
Sonic rushed into the tent to check out what was going on. Inside were shelves filled with small weaponry, potions, and other assorted knick-knacks. In the center was a small arena surrounded by a rowdy crowd. On a stand was a pig-like creature, he spoke to the audience.
"Welcome potential customers," He said to the audience, "you all may know me as Grim Hammer, but please, call me Tibbles. Today, many of you will try to rise to the challenge and win a rare Galdur Stone." Tibbles pulls out the chaos emerald, "This rare stone, can not only substantially increase one's magical capabilities," Tibbles uses the chaos emerald to teleport down to the arena, "it can make one travel through space and matter with ease."
The crowd starts to cheer. "So, this must be our charlatan," Sonic whispered to himself.
"In order to win this stone," Tibbles continued, "you must fight this abomination!"
The stage lights turn to a tiny purple creature, only a few inches tall, in the center of the arena. The audience whispered to each other in confusion.
"This isn't right." Sonic muttered to himself
"The abomination will of course be powered up by the prized Galdur Stone." Tibbles reiterated. He pointed the emerald at the abomination, and a beam of light was let out towards the abomination. The abomination morphed into a hulking beast, it was about ten feet tall, and was surrounded by a glowing yellow aura.
"That seems more like it." Sonic says, he is unfazed by the display.
"The person to bring me it's head gets the Galdur Stone." Tibbles says, "Don't forget to pay the entrance fee to my assistants, and good luck!" Tibbles jumps down from the stand and disappears from sight.
Eager contenders rush to pay the entrance and enter the arena. They put their snails into the sack Tibbles' assistants are holding, and enter one at a time. Sonic is among them.
Sonic enters the arena, he sees many contenders hitting the abomination in the legs, but it swoops them all up, and throws them out of the arena. One contender shoots a series of arrows from their bow. Another one uses fire magic to try and nullify the abomination. Both of these individuals are thrown out. The abomination starts to attack the less proactive contenders, including Sonic. Sonic dodges the abomination's attack while it takes out the other contenders until he is the only one left.
Tibbles decides to get up to his stand, but doesn't notice Sonic. "Well, looks like none of you were successful, oh well there's always next time!" He says. He notices Sonic is still in the arena. "What the- how is someone still standing! No matter, you may have gotten lucky, stranger, but I have a feeling your luck is about to run out!"
The abomination looks directly at Sonic, it's hand shifts into a blade of some sort, and it swings it at Sonic. Sonic jumps out of the way of the abomination's attack, before landing on its arm, and jumping right in its face. The abomination falls to the floor, the crowd goes wild.
"I'm impressed with your speed, stranger." Tibbles says, he smirks, "but it's going to have to be a lot more impressive."
The abomination gets up, and shifts behind sonic quickly. It raises its arm, and it shifts into a hammer shape. It slams its arm to the ground, and Sonic barely gets out of the way. The force of the impact blows sonic to the other side of the arena, the crowd lets out a series of shocked reactions.
Sonic gets up, "You're pretty tough buddy", he says. "But can you keep up?"
Sonic runs around the arena at lightning speeds, the abomination follows in pursuit at a slightly slower speed. The audience looks in awe, as they observe the blue and purple streaks in pursuit of each other. Sonic stops for a second, and spin dashed right into the abomination's face. He pummels the abomination with homing attacks, then launches it into the air. Sonic does a ground pound and slams the abomination into the ground, with him on top of it.
"Had enough yet?" Sonic says mockingly.
The abomination sinks into the ground, and spreads around Sonic, circling around him. A series of weaponized appendages sprout from the circle and start trying to hit sonic. Sonic dodges the first few attacks, the audience cheering him on, but ends up getting struck repeatedly in the end. The abomination towers over Sonic, before collapsing on him. The abomination rose, but Sonic was nowhere to be seen, the audience gasping in shock.
"Wow, poor fellow, I tell ya," Tibbles says, he pretends to feel sorrow, but quickly drops the act, "Now who wants to go ne-"
Before he could finish his sentence, the abomination drops to the floor, and starts spinning torso first in an odd motion. The abomination keeps spinning until it loses its form, and turns into a sort of purple vortex.
"Oh my…" Tibbles says, he and the audience look at this incredible sight. The audience fights against the following winds, and many trinkets fly off of the shelves. The vortex quickly jumps high in the air, before it suddenly crashes down, sending abomination goop and Tibbles' wares flying everywhere.
Sonic emerges from the chaos, head facing the ground, the audience is dead silent. The head of the abomination falls to the ground, sonic quickly holds his arm out and catches it.
"Here's your head, Tibbles." Sonic said, the audience goes wild. Tibbles looks at the scene agitated. "W-well, would you look at that!" he says, holding in his anger. "Well, that's all the spectacle for tonight folk, but Please feel free to check out my wares! Or at least what's left of it..." He looks at his scattered inventory, and tugs on his sweater vest nervously.
Almost all the audience in the tent left, Sonic walked towards Tibbles. "Now Tibbles," Sonic said, "I'm pretty sure this warrants me earning that 'Galdur Stone'," Tibbles clenches his fists, he grunts, "Fine!" Tibbles shouts, he pulls out a bag that seemingly has the emerald in it. "Take it! I don't even need it." he tosses Sonic the pouch, Sonic leaves the tent.
"Now that that's over with," Sonic says, he puts his hand in the pouch, "I can finally blow this pop stand!". He pulls out the yellow emerald, he yells, "Chaos control!" but nothing happens. Sonic looks at the 'emerald', his eyes widen, and Sonic drops the phony emerald. The fake emerald drops to the floor, it shatters, and lets out spheres of glowing light magic. Sonic runs into the tent.
Tibbles is standing behind the tent, calling the emperor's coven on his scroll. "Yeah, I got the Stone." he says, holding the emerald. "So, you guys are going to be here in about twenty minutes? Perfect" he smirks and puts the emerald in the pouch.
"YOU!" Sonic yells, Tibbles turns around terrified.
"W-what are you d-doing here?" Tibbles nervously stammers. Sonic grabs Tibbles by the collar.
"The emerald!" Sonic shouts, "Where is it!?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." Tibbles states, Sonic violently throws him in the tent, all the way in the arena.
"The stone you promised me!" Sonic pulls out the green emerald, and points at Tibbles, "WHERE IS IT !?!"
"Oh that," Tibbles says, he chuckles, "that depends, it could be anywhere! It could be here," Tibbles teleports behind Sonic, "or here," he teleports above Sonic, emerald in hand, "OR HERE!"Tibbles uses the emerald to engulf Sonic in Snails.
Sonic emerges from the pile of snails and launches himself towards Tibbles, who is floating in the air. Tibbles hits Sonic with one of his trinkets, knocking him to the ground. Tibbles launches his wares at Sonic, who dodges his attacks. Sonic kicks one of Tibbles' wares into his face, knocking him down as well. Sonic tackles Tibbles, then proceeds to hit him with a series of punches and kicks. Tibbles uses the emerald to knock pack Sonic, he then uses the emerald to grab many potions from the shelves. Tibbles launches the potions at Sonic, he dodges all of them except for the last one, which hits him in the face
"Gah!" Sonic yells, his face is bloody and cut up. Sonic wipes the blood and glass off his face, but he starts to feel strange. His vision becomes warped and distorted, his ears start to ring violently, and his body starts to feel shaky and clumsy.
"Ha!" Tibbles shouts, "Try getting the emerald now!". Tibbles lifts all the trinkets in the air, and the start to circle around the roof of the tent. "Goodbye stranger!" Tibbles says, an evil glare is present in his eyes.
"Try me!" Sonic shouts weakly. The trinkets fly from all over the place, launching out one after the other. Sonic tried to dodge the trinkets, but they soon became overwhelming, and Sonic was being pummeled. Sonic crouched into a fetal position, clutching the emerald in his arms against his chest.
The trinkets stopped flying towards Sonic, Tibbles slowly walked towards Sonic until he was right in front of him. He chuckles, yellow emerald in hand. "Had enough Stranger?" he says, "if so, hand over the emerald," he lifts the trinkets, "OR Else!"
The emerald can be seen glowing from underneath Sonic, "What the-" Tibbles shouts.
Tibbles is suddenly grabbed by Sonic's left hand, and then upper cut into the air by Sonic's right hand. Sonic jumps in the air and strikes Tibbles several times with his homing attack. Sonic punches Tibbles on the ground, and kicks him back into the Air. Sonic spin dashes in place until Tibbles falls back on the ground, knocking him into a shelf.
"I'm not such a pushover!" Tibbles yells
Tibbles tries teleporting rapidly in order to deal devastating punches, but Sonic just blocks each punch as they are delivered. Sonic then runs around rapidly in a circle, drifting on the dirt floor in order to create an artificial sandstorm. Tibbles tries to look for Sonic, but can't see him.
"Where are you, Stranger!?" he shouts.
"Right here!" Sonic shouts, he jumps in front of Tibbles, grabs tightly on to the emerald, "And I'll be taking this to go."
"Oh no, you won't!" Tibbles shouts, the emerald rapidly flashes, as a large pile of snails forms on top of Sonic, and a shockwave pushes Sonic and the pile away.
Sonic's head emerges from the pile, he groans. Tibbles slowly walks towards Sonic, hands behind his back. "I'm sorry things had to end this way, stranger," he says, pretending to wipe a tear from his eye, "But that's just business". He holds out his arm as if the emerald was still there, but he quickly notices it's gone.
"What, Where's my emerald?" Tibbles questions, he looks around with no results.
Sonic chuckles, then his left hand emerges from the snails, revealing the emerald in hand. "Looks like you need a better grip, Porky." Sonic says, smiling with his eyes closed.
Sonic rises from the Snails like a Phoenix from the ashes, clutching the two emeralds in his hands. Every object not attached to the ground is lifted behind Sonic. Tibbles falls to the ground, Sonic towering over him, his face having a horrified expression marked onto it.
"Who in Titan's name are you?" Tibbles asks.
Sonic chuckles, "I'm Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog!"
As night market shoppers walk by the tents, they hear the sounds of crashing merchandise and Tibbles' horrified screams. Once the silence arrives, Sonic tiredly walks out of the tent.
"That was too much of a hassle!" Sonic says to himself, sighing afterwards, slightly defeated. His expression suddenly becomes lighter, "But I finally got the emerald." He lifts the yellow emerald to the sky.
"Now to do what should've been done a long time". Sonic yells "Chaos Control", and disappears in the blink of an eye.
Steve, one of the emperor's guards, arrives at the tent, "Hey, Grimm Hammer! Where is that stone you promised?" Steve looks around, and sees broken merchandise all over the ground, and Tibbles, half-buried, head first into the ground and squirming his legs around.
"Holy Titan," Steve yells, he yanks Tibbles out of the ground, "What happened here, Grimm Hammer?"
"What happened, what happened!?" Tibbles yells furiously, he shakes Steve back and forth with rage. "I'll tell you what happened, I was BEATEN, and ROBBED!"
Steve starts to mildly panic, "Ah, what are we going to do? If the emperor finds out that some hooligan stole a precious and powerful stone, we'll be in deep trouble!"
"I'll tell you what we're going to do, uh, what's your name?"
"Steve."
Tibbles continued, "Ah yes, thank you! I'll tell you what we're going to do, Steve. Tell the emperor to look out for a blue hedgehog.
"Sounds great," Steve replies, "But one question. What's a Hedgehog?"
