Hey everyone,

So I posted this story on my Instagram account and people really liked it so I figured I would post it here as well.

Because Instagram only allows people to post 10 pictures at a time, the chapters will be kind of short, but I really like this story and I think you guys might too.

I hope you enjoy!

ANNABETH POV:

Percy Jackson was pretty much the most arrogant, selfish bastard I had ever met.

That was my first thought when I met him. Sure, he was handsome and charming, whatever. But he was an asshole.

I wasn't sure what to expect when my best friend Thalia had told me that she was going to introduce me to her cousin, because we all go to Olympus University together. I thought he would look more like her. I thought he would be polite. I thought he would be at least decent to me.

I was wrong.

As soon as I saw him, I could feel his cockiness radiating off of him and hated it. He approached me grinning slyly.

"Who's the hot new girl?"

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "Seriously Thals? This is him? This is Percy Jackson? You told me he was nice."

"Hey! I am nice! I just pointed out that I'd hit that."

I scoffed again as Thalia looked at him with skepticism. She had told me about Percy. Not much. Only that he had a lot of girlfriends in high school, but after an incident with a girl named Rachel, he had sworn off love and hated it when people asked him out.

It didn't stop him from blatantly checking girls out, however.

His messy black hair was swept a little bit by the light breeze and I internally scolded myself for finding him so attractive when he was objectifying me.

Thalia winced and held my wrist as I tried to approach him.

"I am not an object."

"You sure look like an hourglass. I don't mind it."

"You little-"

"Anna, no. You met him. He goes here. That's all the introduction you need. Let's go get lunch."

Percy smirked and I fought the urge to smack him. I walked away towards the dining hall with Thalia.

"You didn't tell me he was an asshole."

"I mentioned he had a lot of girlfriends a while ago. I thought that might be enough?"

I scoffed. That was not enough information to prepare me for the asshole of the century. Thalia glanced at me apologetically. I rolled my eyes and nodded.

There was no reason to hold her annoying cousin against her. Her super hot annoying cousin.

We went into the dining hall and looked for a place to sit after getting our meals. I stuck with a chicken Caesar salad. Thalia got two full meals.

I'd never understood how her metabolism worked so fast.

"Annabeth?"

Piper McClean, a sweet girl I'd met in my Calculus class approached us. She was wearing old ripped clothes and her hair was cut chopping with some strands braided with feathers.

You could tell she put effort into putting down her beauty, but no matter what she did she was gorgeous.

I smiled and Thalia grinned. "Come sit! I'm Thalia."

"Piper."

I smiled. They were both very against the media's standards of beauty and how women were treated based on their looks. I had a feeling they would get along well.

As they conversed, I allowed myself to zone out. I found myself thinking about Percy, oddly enough. He was definitely attractive, there was no denying that.

Thalia had told me that despite the fact that he dated a lot in high school, after a bad experience with a girl named Rachel, he had quit dating. For good, he had apparently said.

It would have been a shame if he weren't such an asshole. I couldn't deny his messy raven hair that looked naturally tousled with. Or his sea green eyes that seemed to bore into my soul…

Stop it, Annabeth, I scolded myself.

It was true that guys did regularly ask me out. I never took them up on their offers. I didn't have the time to date what with all my studies and all.

Falling in love was pointless, and so was meaningless sex. I did often wish that boys would quit asking.

It was that exact moment when I started to plan.

"Percy!"

He turned from talking to a tall blonde boy with bright blue eyes. He smirked when he saw me.

"Hey. Annie was it?"

"Annabeth. And I think we should have a talk."

He raised an eyebrow. "A talk, huh?"

I rolled my eyes. "I'm not going to sleep with you. I have a mutually beneficial plan that I think you might be interested in."

"Big words. Okay, fine. Come on."

His friend nodded and went a separate way, and Percy led me down a trail I had never seen before.

It was deep in the woods with a couple of blue paint marks to show the way. It was gorgeous, I had to admit. I saw a glint of sunlight in the distance coming from the ground.

A lake, I realized. He's taking me to a lake.

When we reached the clear blue body of water, Percy sat down on the old wooden dock, and I sat next to him. He breathed in the air and immediately relaxed. He looked like he belonged by the water.

"So, you had a plan for me."

"A proposition. I hear you don't like it when girls constantly ask you out."

"How much did Thalia tell you?"

I ignored him and his pained expression. "I don't like it when guys constantly try to get with me. So, I have a plan for us."

"Okay…"

"We pretend to date. That way, we have good easy excuses to let people down and people will know to leave us alone."

He nodded slowly. "Yeah, that could work." He turned to me. "Let me sleep on it. I'll get back to you."

I nodded, and he got up, leaving me by the water.

It seemed like my plan could work. He seemed interested, and it was pretty airtight.

What could possibly happen?

So that was the first chapter. I promise drama will ensue soon.

I've written this fully already so I will definitely have the whole thing posted really soon.

Thanks for reading!

Much love,
