Hey guys!

Here is chapter 2. It's in Percy's POV and this story will be switching POVs often.

I don't think you guys realize how much I love Percy Jackson. That series has shaped me as a person so much. PJO fanfiction was the first kind I ever read, and the first I ever wrote.

These characters mean so much to me. Love you Uncle Rick.

If you could leave a review, it would mean the world to me, I adore hearing for you guys.

Enjoy your reading!

(Disclaimer: I don't own these characters)

PERCY POV:

She was definitely gorgeous.

I could understand why hordes of guys were constantly asking her out. How could they not be attracted to her with those golden princess curls and stormy gray eyes…

Which is why I decided to annoy her as a first impression. I couldn't have her liking me, because I could already sense that I could fall in love with her.

She carried herself in a confident, but not cocky way. She was the picture of beauty. She had good choices of friends.

But I knew that after my incident in high school with Rachel, I couldn't get attached. I would just end up getting hurt again.

I wasn't sure how to respond to her proposition.

Sure, it seemed like a good idea, I would have a quick, easy, believable excuse to shut girls down when they asked me out. But I knew the longer I spent with that addicting girl, the more I would get attached.

I had heard stories from Thalia about her super sweet, badass, loyal best friend. Of course, I was impressed. It took a lot to gain Thalia's respect.

But being in her presence was intoxicating, and I couldn't afford to be anything but sober when it came to love.

I lay in my twin bed, trying to ignore my roommate Jason rolling around in his sleep. Staring at the ceiling, I allowed my mind to wander.

If I took Annabeth up on her offer, what would that mean? Would we go on dates? Would we kiss?

I had practice shutting off my emotions in high school when I had my player status, but it had made me cold all over. I didn't want to go back there.

I could try it for a couple weeks and if I started to catch feelings I could always bail…

Yeah, that seemed like a good plan. I rolled onto my side under my blue duvet and allowed sleep to envelop me.

The next morning:

I woke up with a start. Sweat rolled down my forehead and I was gasping for air.

Jason was looking at me funny.

"Bro, are you okay? You were close to yelling in your sleep, and hyperventilating and shit."

I took three deep breaths before acknowledging him. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bad dream."

It was pretty much just a bad dream. Being screamed at and whipped with a belt by a man with a terrible stench.

The only difference between this being a normal persons nightmare was that my dreams were memories.

You're out now, I reminded myself. Chill the hell out.

I forced a trademark grin for Jason and slipped on a t shirt. "Let's get breakfast."

Jason wanted to sit with this girl he liked during breakfast, a pretty Native American with ripped clothes named Piper.

She seemed pretty nice, and she was studying History. History was always my favorite subject.

I would've majored in it if I hadn't found my passion for marine biology.

"I'm Piper," the girl said as I took the seat diagonal from her.

"I'm Percy. Percy Jackson."

A flash of recognition appeared on her face and she nodded ambiably.

Jason and Piper were staring at each other with google eyes and I was fighting the urge to gag when Piper's gaze shot up and she beamed.

She happily waved someone over who was behind me. I turned to see who it was.

Was it possible to get more beautiful overnight?

Annabeth walked into the dining hall with a captivating smile, dressed in an old orange camp t shirt and jean shorts. Her curls were in a ponytail, and she was carrying a bowl of yogurt and fruit.

"How'd you sleep?" Piper asked as Annabeth took a seat next to her, across from me.

Annabeth shrugged. "Pretty well. Thalia snores."

"Tell me about it," I muttered. I had slept in the same room as Thalia before. Her snores were deafening.

Annabeth cocked an eyebrow at me and smiled a little. I played it cool and smirked back.

Everytime she had her eyes on me I could feel it, and while sometimes it was casual, other times I felt like she was analyzing me, trying to get as much information as possible.

It was intimidating, but I was Percy Jackson. I would let her see me be intimidated.

Jason chuckled a little. "That's Thalia."

Annabeth smiled. "You must be Jason! I thought I recognized you yesterday. I'm Annabeth Chase."

He nodded politely. "Jason Grace. So what are you studying?"

"Architecture," Annabeth replied as her eyes lit up. I smiled. It was nice to see someone with such obvious passion. "You guys?"

"I'm studying Economics," Jason replied. Annabeth turned to me.

"Marine biology."

She looked surprised for the first time since I'd met her. "You're the first person I've met with that major."

"Not many people know about the OU (Olympus University) marine biology program. It's amazing."

She nodded. "I'll have to stop by and see what you're working on."

I raised an eyebrow and grinned. "I look forward to it."

We continued talking for the rest of breakfast. We shared stories about Thalia and gave Piper the impression that she was a barbarian, and Annabeth had to laugh and explain that the instances she had recalled were years apart.

By the end, everyone seemed comfortable with our new small group.

As Annabeth was about to leave and go read in her dorm, I stopped her by catching her wrist. She turned defensively and glared until she saw it was me.

"Oh. Hi."

"Don't go judo flipping me, Chase. I wanted to talk to you about your proposal."

She raised an eyebrow and I tried not to gawk at her beauty. It made me feel better when I saw her checking me out too. It took a lot not to smirk.

"And what did you conclude?"

"I'll do it. But if we catch feelings or decide to date other people, it's over immediately. Sound good?"

"Sounds good."

We shook on it, and the instant our hands touched I felt sparks.

It took all I had to ignore them and try to convince myself I was imagining them.

Annabeth gave me one last dazzling smile.

"See you later."
