PERCY POV:
"Bro," Jason grinned.
"Bro," I replied.
"Bro!"
Jason beamed, and I beamed back.
Honestly, it felt like Jason was meant to be my friend. He was like my bro soulmate.
Then Jason frowned curiously, his electric eyes focused on something behind me. "Is that Annabeth?"
I turned to find a rush of blonde curls bounding straight towards me.
She ran right at me, and threw herself into my arms.
I stumbled back, smiling and hugging her back.
"Hey, Wise Girl. What's up?" She pulled back, and I noticed her glassy red eyes. "What's wrong? Is everything ok?"
"It is now." Her voice was music and I smiled.
I didn't need the detailed story right now. I was just happy to be with her.
"Couldn't get enough, huh?"
She laughed shakily and hugged me again. I pressed my lips against her lemon scented hair and held her to me, forgetting the world around us.
"Percy, I have to- Well, I need to-" She was rambling. She never rambled.
Her eyes darted from my chest to my eyes and all around us. "I just need you to know-"
"Annabeth," I cut her off gently. "What is it?"
"I love you," she blurted out. "I know we've been dating for like, twenty four hours, but I've felt this way for a while and, I don't know, I just felt like I needed to tell you. Oh gods, did I mess this up? I messed this up, didn't I-"
I pressed my lips to hers and couldn't give a f*ck that a bunch of people were around us, that Jason was right there, that I had my own problems. This moment was perfect.
She love me, I though giddily. She loves me, She loves me, She loves me.
Annabeth kissed me back deeply and I felt her smile.
"I love you too," I whispered against our kiss.
ANNABETH POV:
For once in my life, I really, truly loved someone. And even better, he loved me too.
I couldn't fathom what I had done to deserve someone like Percy, but I decided not to think about it just yet.
He was here, in my arms, and that was enough.
After telling each other how we felt, we went back to his apartment to watch The Little Mermaid- his choice- and he fell asleep quickly.
I knew he had been working hard at his internship at the nearly marine biology research center, but I didn't know he had been staying up until almost three in the morning.
I smiled down at the sight of him, his face squished against my arm and a small endearing trail of drool on his chin.
His breath was even and soft, and his unruly hair was covering his eyes a little. I carefully brushed it away, and kept my hand on his face.
My Seaweed Brain.
He nuzzled his head against my arm and I couldn't help but smile. He could have a hard, playboy exterior, or even his playful cocky one, but inside he was a vulnerable, truly good guy.
I knew that Calypso had changed him, but for I would keep trying to get him to show the real Percy to the world. That was the Percy I was in love with.
And it warmed my heart that he trusted me enough to let me see that side of him.
"Bemfngh," Percy mumbled. "Bephng."
I melted. He was talking in his sleep. It was the most adorable thing I'd ever seen in my life.
I wasn't sure what he was saying, it sounded like a jumble of random letters, but the sound of his voice was enough to warm my heart.
He mumbled some more, and then slumped a little more into me. I smiled softly. I honestly couldn't believe he was real.
"Beth," he mumbled again. I inhaled sharply.
I didn't register that I was crying until a tear landed on my lap. Not even two hours and I had cried more than I had in the last year.
I almost never cried.
But this time, for the first time, I cried happy tears.
He was actually dreaming about me.
I played with his hair a little longer and turned off the movie. I was annoyed anyway. Why didn't Eric just kiss her? And besides, Percy was a lot better to look at.
Eventually, I felt my eyelids get heavy and pulled a soft navy blue blanket over Percy and I, before finally letting myself drift off to sleep.
…
I woke up to someone shaking my arm.
"Annabeth," someone was saying. "Annabeth, wake up!"
I groaned and rubbed my eyes. "What's up?"
Percy was smiling big, practically jumping up and down.
I smiled. "What happened, you?"
"Beth! I got promoted."
I started to wake up a little more. "Promoted? At the research center?"
"Yeah! They just called me. They want to actually hire me."
I tilted my head. I recalled Percy saying something about him not being able to work there officially yet. "Don't you need your degree first?"
Percy nodded so eagerly I thought his head might get thrown off. "But they don't even care! They're making an exception!"
I stood up. "Oh my gods, Perce, that's amazing. That's amazing! That's so goddamn amazing!"
He beamed at me, and the happy twinkle in his sea green eyes melted me.
He was jittering with excitement, and I was excited too, and I jumped into his arms, not really caring what would happen next.
He caught my thighs and held me up as I smiled down at him, and I fixed his hair, moving the black strands out of his eyes.
"I'm so proud of you, Seaweed Brain."
He gave me his biggest smile and butterflies erupted in my stomach. "The guy who designs the tanks too, Beckendorf, he's super cool. He's been giving me advice and everything so I already have a friend there!"
I smiled. "You're friends with everyone, Seaweed Brain."
Percy laughed, carrying me over to the big arm chair and plopping down, setting me on his lap. "No one can deny my charm," he smiled.
"I certainly can't," I murmured, leaning in until our lips met, molding them together and smiling into our kiss. "Tell me more about your new job."
Percy beamed again. "Okay, so this woman named Amphirite is basically my manager, and she actually knows my dad which is super cool. And there's these twins named Connor and Travis who got Thalia to stick her hand in the electric eel tank."
I burst out laughing. "Oh my gods, was she furious?"
Percy nodded. "So furious. The twins say it was worth it, though. Who else? Oh yeah! Calypso is working next door at the art gallery, which is pretty cool."
My heart sank. "Calypso?"
"Yeah! You guys met on our…" He trailed off awkwardly.
"Date?" I prompted.
"Yeah. She works at the art gallery, telling people who made what. And the gallery has the best food. Seriously, the best. I'll take you sometime."
A hint of a smile tugged on my lips.
"Calypso and I have been eating there like, everyday."
The smile vanished.
It was hard not to be jealous, but I trusted Percy and more than anything, I was happy for him.
"That's super awesome, Seaweed Brain."
Percy smiled. "You're super awesome, Wise Girl."
I smiled and kissed him again. "Some might call you a flirt, Jackson."
"Some might be right, Chase," he grinned, getting up and pulling me to my feet before twirling me around like we were ballroom dancing.
I laughed as I fell into him and he dipped me close to the ground. I let my leg lift up like how I had seen in tangos and he smirked happily and kissed me.
"I love you," he whispered.
"I love you too, Mr Employed."
"Oh my gods," Percy said, pulling me up. "I didn't even realize I'd be getting paid!"
I laughed. "You really love your job, huh?"
"I only love one thing more."
I smiled, closing my eyes and pressing my forehead against his. It was an intimate gesture for some reason, and it felt right.
Percy felt right. We felt right.
And I had almost nothing to worry about.
Smh Percy you had to mention Calypso.
Okay well I hope you enjoyed the hella fluffy chapter!
I love y'all!
