The angel of Death

came a knocking

all in black

War reared

the sight of the enemy

filled Saul's heart in terror

he inquire of the lord

but he did not answer

Saul call on his attendants.

That night

Saul disguise himself

he and 2 of his men

they went to the woman.

"Consult a spirit

for me." The king said.

"Whom shall I bring up

for you?"

"Bring up Samuel."

She shriek

" You've deceived me,

you are Saul!"

" Don't be afraid.

You'll not be punish

for this.

Now what do you see."

Samuel appears.

"I see a spirit

coming up out

of the ground."

Samuel spoke to Saul.

"Why have you disturb me?"

"I am in great distress.

The philistines

are fighting against me

and God has turned away

from me

so I have

called on you,

tell me what to do."

"Why consult me?

Now the Lord

is your enemy.

He will tear

the kingdom

out of your hands

and give it

to David.

Tomorrow you

and your sons

will be with me."

Saul fell

on the ground

in terror.

Samuel return

to the earth.

A spear pierce

the skull,

a sword

slash an arm,

arrows flung about,

the philistines

pressed hard.

"My son."

Saul sob. "My son."

In his lap,

He stoke Jonathon's

beheaded head.

The enemy

overtook him

wounding him

critically.

"I must be run through.

I'll not be defiled

by these uncircumcised!"

A young man arrived in Davids

stronghold. His clothes torn

with dust on his head

he grovelled at Davids feet.

"Why have you come here?"

David said. "I've escape

the fallen battlefield."

"I saw him." the young man said.

"He was leaning

on his spear

with riders

almost upon him

he turn round and saw me

calling out

'what can I do' I said

I'm in the throes of death

draw your sword and kill me.

So I ran him through

for he had fallen

I took the crown

on his head

and brought it here

my lord."

David wept.

"Why were you

not afraid

to kill the Lords

anointed?"

he called his men

"Strike him down."

be on you're own head!"
