CHAPTER 7

I know this was supposed to be a chapter, where Superman and Conner make up, but I couldn't think of a proper way to do it. I was going to make a big emotional moment where Connor runs away feeling unwanted and then Superman finds him and consoles him, but I couldn't set it up properly. I also lost interest in this story.

Jon sighed, looks like his father wasn't coming today. Eithers as Clark Kent or Superman. It was to be expected he did not like these big festivals in Superman's honor. It made him feel like a fraud knowing he could have done so much more, still chose not to. And the alien invasion feels like a perfect excuse to be absent.

He will have to step up. Just as he was slipping away from the crowd, he heard his mother, "Oh, you are not going anywhere, young man. This day is for your father and he should be the one who goes on stage." Then she dialed his dad again.

Behind her he saw Connor smirking. He angrily stomped towards him and punched on the head, while yelling, "Snitch."

Lois turned again and yelled, "Jon, stop bullying your younger brother. You are 20 act like one or I will ground you." Then she went back to call again. She must be really angry.

He didn't bully his brother, just was a bit rough with him. As Connor was one of few people who could take it.

Connor was laughing in the back, getting his brother in trouble was one of his favorite past times. During his first few weeks outside of his pod, if someone had told that he would get an actual family he would have glared at them till he accidently burned them, for making such bad jokes. Now he couldn't be happier. To think it all started with an awkward conversation.

Flashback

Connor was training in the gym again. He wanted to surpass Superboy, needed to surpass him. Everyone on team had a special role which only they can do. Except for him, he was the team muscle. But, since the Jon had joined the team, he had been lacking. As he was punching again. He heard someone clearing his throat.

He looked back and saw Superman standing there.

"Hey, Connor I uh… need some help?" It came out more as a question. "And since Jon is at school, I thought, would you like to help me?"

Flashback End

He wanted to refuse it at first. But something told him to accept it. He is glad he did. Of course, his help wasn't needed it was just a simple job, busting Intergang. But that was the start of his relationship with Superman. They went on many missions together, sometimes even Jon would join them. Until few months later. Until it became official.

Flashback Start

Connor arrived at the given address. This building looked so normal. Superman called him here to discuss something important. "Up here" he heard someone shout. Thinking it was for him he flew up. Standing on the roof was a civilian.

"Hello Connor, I am Clark, Clark Kent." The stranger introduced himself. "Although you may know me as Superman." With that he removed his glasses. It was like a spell was lifted from him. The stranger suddenly became a very familiar man. "Clark Kent is my secret identity."

"Why are you telling me this?" He asked his heart beating loudly.

"I know this is long overdue, but I wanted you to officially join the family. I know you have many questions ask them I will answer them truthfully." Clark said.

"Why now?" He asked, his heart berating him for asking this question. He feared he might not like the answer.

Superman sighed, "Because I trust you now. It doesn't mean I thought you would betray me or something, before. Its just… you are a clone you didn't have anything to call your own. Your DNA was stolen from Jon, instead of memories and experiences your head was filled with information and skills. Your own sense of morality was what Cadmus implanted into you. Heck, even your brain wasn't developed completely. I wanted you to grow as your own person, before you committed to us." He had a faraway look in his eyes. Like he experienced this before.

Then suddenly, like few times before, his brain accessed the one of the Cadmus files. Subject 7 aka Bizzaro, a clone of Superman made to kill him. Superman didn't want a repeat of that.

"Do you think I am ready?" Connor asked.

"Nope," Superman said, but smiled and continued, "But, I don't think Lois can hold back from meeting her son, anymore. A little bit of warning, she is quite a mama bear."

"Son?" He asked, his voice a bit emotional, that's one of the changes which he had gone through in past few months. As his brain matured, he developed more emotions and even powers like what he calls tactile telekinesis.

"Yes, you are for intents Jon's twin brother. That makes you, our son."

Flashback End

"… and that's how he saved me. Not by, catching me from a failing building, but by giving me the will to live, so that I will never give up again." The lady finished her speech with tears in her eyes. She had just finished her speech of how superman stopped her from committing Suicide.

"See, darling, that's why Metropolis loves Superman. Can you imagine Batman doing something like this?" Lois asked Clark, who had just arrived on the scene. She had already removed her jacket and was now sporting a Superman T Shirt.

"No," Clark chuckled at the thought, Batman helping someone who jumped off a building. Then scaring that person even more so that he will never jump off a building again.

"So, stop being a baby and go up there," Lois said.

He wanted to protest further, but then he saw Jon and Connor joining her. "Fine, but you both are coming with me."

He soon changed into his uniform and went on stage. Joining him were Superman Red and Superman Blue, aka Connor and Jon. Both had started their Superhero carrier quite late, officially that is. And neither wanted to stay Superboy for a decade like their Aunt Kara. So, they both took a new identity while paying homage to him. Jon's costume was like his own except for capes which he wore only for occasions like this. And he didn't have the red outwear as he called it. His costume was also a different shade of blue. While Connor's costume was mostly red. With a bit of red mixed in.

He looked at all the people of Metropolis gathered here, his wife of 20 years and his sons by his side. He couldn't ask for anything more.

The End

So, that's it, sorry if it felt a little rushed. Connor's costume is 90's superboy costume.
