Weekend is here, yay! It's time for some rest, (some FFXIV) and all the things I kept saying I should do before procrastinating anyway. Looking at you, house I'm supposed to clean! Looking at you, prompts I still have NOT written although we're halfway through that calendar month!
For now, I'll leave you with Anchor, which will probably give a headache to its main character!
"You did what to your what now?"
Kairi was staring at Sora, agape. He was grinning back at her, looking very proud, but it was pretty obvious the pride wasn't mutual.
"I got a new tattoo on my arm! Look!"
He was showing his biceps that was wrapped in cling film. If she looked carefully, she could make out the pattern drawn there.
"I have many questions, Sora. But I'm still unsure whether I want them answered or not, so I'll keep them to myself for now."
"I was visiting Jack in the Carribeans. Remember the place? I took you there once, didn't I? Well, anyway, we were talking about how to become a real pirate, and it struck me that every single pirate there had one thing in common."
"And I don't suppose you're going to tell me it's their love for adventure or their boat, are you?"
"They all had tattoos! Loving adventure makes you an adventurer, a boat makes you a sailor. But adventure, a boat AND a tattoo? Now that's how you become a pirate, Kairi!"
"Somehow I don't think that's quite right", the young woman said between her teeth. She had always known Sora to be impulsive, but usually, he was at least reasonable. She wasn't so sure this time. "And you're not going to tell me that cling film comes from the Carribeans. I wouldn't believe you."
Sora blushed. "It's not, but I know that's something people do after getting a tattoo, so I assumed this was done for a reason, and did it when I got home…"
"Listen, Sora, I… You…" She wasn't even sure what to say. Especially when he looked so proud of himself.
"As for the drawing, I thought I'd get a mix of my two dreams!"
"Your two dreams?" She sighed, then squinted, trying to see what was drawn for life on his skin. She hoped it wasn't a childish dream he'd grow out of.
On his skin was tattooed an anchor, with her name on it. It was some very cliché, and not very well drawn at that, sailor tattoo. Her face displayed very little emotion.
"Being a pirate has always been a dream of mine. According to my mum, Pirate was my third word after Mum and Dad. That's what the anchor is for. But you, Kairi… You became my biggest dream. You are the future I want. And I wanted to make that dream eternal."
Kairi's cheeks turned pinker. Sora's words went right to her heart. She still wasn't so sure about the way he chose to represent it, though.
"I'm pretty sure I can remove the film now. You know, to show you what it truly looks like?" And before she could even answer, he began unrolling the wrap.
And unrolled. And unrolled.
When the very last layer was removed from his skin, the anchor somehow stuck to the film, leaving Sora's skin pristine. His grin got even wider now.
"April's Fool, Kairi! Oh, you should have seen your face. You looked so confused and disappointed I almost wanted to tell you it was a joke right away. But Riku spent so long drawing this, I had to go through with it!"
His face turned serious for a second. "I meant every word, though. You were, are, and will always be my dream. This part was no joke."
Kairi nodded in silence. "Sora, thank you for your kind words. I can assure you I reciprocate every single feeling. But I can also assure you that if one day you wake up with the word "moron" tattooed on your and Riku's foreheads, you won't have to look for a culprit, this will definitely be me."
Sora looked at her, worried to find anger in her eyes, but all he could see was some fiery mischief and some relief. He nodded and started laughing, and she was laughing as well. This was one of the many reasons why she was the one he'd always dream of.
A sweet ending but truly a childish prank! Do you have tattoos? I'm too scared of needles to get one and I'd be worried I'd grow tired of it anyway, but if I ever were to get one, I'd like a tiny Triforce. That would be cute.
I don't really reply to reviews because FFNet has a terrible interface when it comes to interacting, but I do read every single one of them, so thank you so much for taking time to leave some!
Tomorrow will be "Dancing with your ghost" :D
