Chapter 18: Working Together
Youngblood and his minion kept dealing with Phantom's friends and sister, who were still trying to distract him.
Sam kept firing with her wrist ray, Tucker kept using his Jack-o-Nine-Tails and Jazz...well, she kept trying to use psychology on the bratty ghost.
"You know, studies dictate that children who shower themselves with material possessions and portray themselves as the protagonist of their own make-believe games, is a clear sign of possible loneliness, which could also be another reason as to why you don't have any friends your own age..."Jazz said suddenly and caused Youngblood to growl in aggravation.
"SHUT UP!..."Youngblood shouted, steam practically coming out of his ears.
"Hmm...hostility and a short temperament is usually a sign of an inability to connect with others..."Jazz added.
That was the last straw as Youngblood then pulled out what looked like a medieval mace that was glowing with ghostly energy. Jazz noticed that he was pointed it at her and let out an audible gulp.
"Maybe I went too far..."Jazz said as she dodged and ran for cover, wishing that she had brought the Fenton peeler with her.
However, before Youngblood could try and attack her again, someone else returned to the scene.
"Hey, sir Brat-A-Lot, I think it's time to put you on a permanent timeout!..."Star shouted as she had arrived to the scene.
Youngblood saw her and smirked.
"Well, looks like the Cootie-Factory is back. Now it's time to have some real fun..."Youngblood said.
"That doesn't sound very knight-like..."His assistant pointed out.
"Whatever, let's just get her and make Phantom pay for ruining our fun by messing with his defenseless little girlfriend..."Youngblood ordered.
His steed nodded and the two charged towards Star, who was offended by what he just said..
"Defenseless?! That's what you think, Peewee..."Star said as she pulled out her saber and readied it. "Enguard, pipsqueak..."She said as she held her saber tighter, looking determined.
She then began dodging and swinging, while Youngblood starts swinging his attacks. To his surprise, she kept up a decent fight and the childish villains temper rising as this continued.
"Hold still, you stupid girl!..."Youngblood said as he pulled out his sword.
"Not happening, you brat!..."Star said as she held her ground.
Youngblood frowned and kept swinging but Star was still using her agility to avoid him.
"Quit dodging so much, Cootie-Factory!..."Youngblood said as he was getting very impatient. "STOP IT!..."The bratty villain yelled as he kept his tantrum while she kept dodging.
He got really, really close to slicing her but Star managed to dodge it, but even she knew it was a close call.
"Please hurry Danny, this brat is losing it!..."Star thought as she tried to keep him distracted by fighting her. "Plus, his whining kind of reminds me of Colette..."She mentally added before deciding to try another tactic here.
"I bet you couldn't keep up with me, even if I was standing still..."Star taunted.
"Shut up, you stupid girl!..."Youngblood yelled.
"As if, you probably can't even keep up with me!..."Star shouted as she began running.
"We'll see about that!..."Youngblood shouted as he mounted his steed and went after her, while the rest of Team Phantom followed.
"Looks like Star has a plan..."Tucker said.
"I hope it works..."Sam said as they went after them.
Star only kept running as Youngblood and his horse were after her.
Unknown to the bratty villain, he was following her to a specific location, which was all according to her plan.
Meanwhile
While Star and the others were distracting Youngblood and his horse and leading him a certain place, the two Dannys were preparing for their part in Star's plan but only one of them was concerned about something.
"Are you sure that you're up for the task?..."Super Danny asked his counterpart, who was being surprisingly focused and productive right now.
"It seem a little uncharacteristically courageous of you to put yourself in harm's way and battle ghosts, especially given that there is not much chance for fun for you in it this time..." Super Danny said, as he recalled that it took a lot of persuasion the last time.
His human half just shrugged nonchalantly before speaking.
"Yeah, I totally get what you mean and normally I wouldn't even consider jumping into this mess since this is YOUR job...unless there'd being something fun for me to do or if I get to avoid chores..." Fun Danny explained, while Super Danny rolled his eyes.
However, his other half then sported a more serious expression on his face as he spoke to his ghostly half.
"But if Starlight's the one who needs this done...and she asks me to help out then how can I say no?..." Fun Danny said with a small laugh, which joined in by his ghostly counterpart.
"Yes, our beloved Starlight is certainly hard to refuse, especially when she gives us that determined yet enchanting look in her eye..."Super Danny admitted before he started to think.
"I suppose, at the very least, he cares about her enough to put in some effort when needed..."The super hero mentally admitted before going back to the plan.
"Alright, are you ready to fulfill your role in our beloved Starlight's brilliant plan, my dueling doppelganger?" Super Danny asked
"Ready as I'll ever be, Dude. Let's just do this already..."Fun Danny said.
"Very well, it is time to go ghost...the both of us!..."Super Danny said and his human half grinned.
"Let's rock this!..." Fun Danny said as he pumped his fist and a similar determined look on his face.
With that being said, the two versions of Danny remained silent as they arrived to their destination before the other members of Team Phantom, which was close to Fenton Works.
There, they waited for their cue in this plan.
After a few moments of wait, they soon heard the sound of ecto-blasts and then saw Star being chased down by Youngblood and his horse, which was part of her plan.
"Here they come..."Fun Danny said to his doppelganger.
"Then let us work together and save the day as we were meant to!..."Super Danny said dramatically before his human half got annoyed.
"Let's just do this for Star and be done with it..."Fun Danny said in annoyance.
His super half sent him a flat look before he grabbed his non-ghost counterpart and began phase two of the plan.
With Star
"Come on, Pipsqueek. You can't catch us!..."Star taunted as she kept running and dodging the ghostly knight who got angrier.
"Shut up, you stupid girl! You stupid, icky pain in the butt!..."Youngblood shouted, his patience long gone.
"I hope that Danny is all set by now..."Star thought as she kept running and looked ahead.
She soon saw the two versions of her boyfriend together by a building and was relieved.
"Finally..."She whispered as she began to lead the way.
She sent the signal to the two Danny's, which was done in order to get them to ready.
Seeing Star signaling them to go, both versions of Danny dived down in the air and were soaring towards Youngblood, who was busy charging up his mace to notice the incoming attack.
At the minute before impact, Super Danny threw Fun Danny towards the bratty ghost and literally knock him off his high horse.
"What the-AH!..."Youngblood let out as he was forced off his horse assistant.
This left Youngblood without a horse and Fun Danny on top of one.
"Whoa...that actually worked? Sweet..."Fun Danny said as he felt a little dazed from the collision.
"Unhand me you uncivilized dunderhead!..."The ghostly steed said as he tried to force the human Danny off of him.
"Not a chance, Dude!..."Fun Danny said as grabbed on to the ghost skeleton horse's back for dear life.
"I'll trample over you!..."The horse threatened.
However, before he could do anything, Super Danny then fired some ice blasts at the ghostly horse, hitting him thick, solid ice and making it easier for Fun Danny to take control now.
"Now that was cool, Dude..."Fun Danny commented.
"Indeed, you could say that I put this evil equine on ice..."Super Danny said before Fun Danny groaned.
"Do we always make corny puns like that? Oh well..."Fun Danny said as he put on the ghost gauntlets that Star told him to get, just in time before the ghost horse's body began buck like a wild bronco.
"Oh man!..."He exclaimed.
With the gauntlets on, he tried to rein in the ghostly horse but was having some trouble keeping him still. However, Star, using her agility and gymnastic moves, managed to jump on and use her ghost saber to make the ghostly steed in the rear.
The ghostly horse, despite his frozen head, tried to fight back but it was too late as the blonde girl started to take control.
"To think I wanted a pony when I was little..."Star said as she kept hitting, making the ghost horse wince in pain even with his head being frozen solid and unable to completely control his own movements.
"Hey, that's my servant...I mean mighty steed..."Youngblood complained over them stealing his ride.
"You want him back? Then come and get him, you little brat!..."Star challenged as they kept controlling the horse while Super Danny kept sending blasts to his juvenile foe.
The blast hit Youngblood,, causing him to fall to the ground. Upon recovering, Youngblood, out of rage, pulled out his sword again.
"Take this, you jerks!..."Youngblood yelled as he fired a big blast to Human Danny and Star.
"Oh man..."Star exclaimed.
"Oh bogus..."Fun Danny said as regretted not having powers right now.
"Fear not, for Danny Phantom is here to the rescue..."Super Danny exclaimed as grabbed his human half and girlfriend and pulled them out of the way.
"Thanks dude!..." Fun Danny said gratefully, as he was glad that they weren't hit.
Star saw their interaction and smiled.
"Yeah, thanks..."She said, still smiling.
"At least now, they're cooperating..."She thought as she spoke to them.
"Come on, we gotta take care of this before Youngblood gets back..."Star reminded them.
The two Danny's and Star had managed to get to Fenton Works' neighborhood before the horse saw an opportunity to free himself by using what remained of his power to burst his head out of the ice. Once he did, he managed to knock them off, finally getting them off his back.
"Finally!..."The horse, with his head back, shouted as he made a flying run for it.
"WHOA!..."Star and Fun Danny shouted as they fell.
"Never fear, for I am here..."Super Danny said as he grabbed the two of them and lead them to safety.
"Thanks, Dude..."Fun Danny said.
"Yeah, thanks Super Danny-Boo..."Star said, taking a breath in relief.
However, it was short lived as Youngblood managed to get back to his horse and aimed his weapon.
'Now, you three are dead-meat!..."Youngblood shouted.
"Yes, quite..."The horse said, miffed over the unwanted freezing experience he just went through or the teenagers who used him.
"Try us!..."The ghostly hero declared dramatically as he balled up his fists.
"Uh... I'd rather not be dead-meat..." Fun Danny complained but was ignored.
"Super Danny-Boo...we might need something...remember..."Star reminded and the ghost hero realized her point.
"Oh...very well..."He said as he grabbed her and his doppelganger.
As Super Danny phased both Star and Fun Danny into the basement lab, they immediately started looking for the anti-ghost devices they came here for, to give them more of an edge and to end this.
"Come on, there's gotta be something here to stop that brat..."Star said pleadingly as they kept looking.
"There's something..."Fun Danny said as pointed at a certain object that caused this mess so far.
One that seemed to be repaired now.
"Wait...is that the ghost catcher?..."Star said as she took a moment to stare.
It looked fixed, not like how it was the other day.
"I thought that it was still on the fritz or something..."Fun Danny said.
"Mother and Father must have finished repairing it earlier and forgot to put it away..."Super Danny theorized.
"This is great...this means you guys can change back to normal..."Star said, thinking that she would have her boyfriend back to his old self.
However, before they could do anything, a blast was heard and a horse's loud snort came with it.
They looked up and saw Youngblood and his horse and they both looked living.
At the same time, Tucker, Sam and Jazz all came rushing into the lab with their own weapons, panting heavily.
"Guys, Youngblood-..."Tucker stopped when he saw that the ghostly brat was already here..."Uh...I guess you already now..."Tucker said, still panting.
"No duh..."Sam said as she got ready for anything while the childish villain started ranting.
"Payback time, you peasants!..."Youngblood shouted as he stormed in with a fully charged ecto mace, and readying it, hoping that it would hit someone very fleshy and breakable.
The blast was heading towards Star and she gasped.
"Star, look out!..."Jazz exclaimed.
"Run!..."Sam yelled while Tucker gasped.
"Oh man!..."Star said as she panicked as the blast got closer, she tried to outrun it but couldn't.
"STAR!..."Fun Danny shouted.
"STARLIGHT!..."Super Danny bellowed.
Without any hesitation, both Dannys quickly and simultaneously ran in to save Star by jumping into the blast to protect her and everyone, especially Star, were stunned when they were hit.
"DANNY!..."Star shouted in worry as they both took the hit head on.
To her surprise, the force of the hit sent the two Dannies to into one of the devices in the lab...
The ghost catcher...
Once they passed through it, something happened that caught Star's attention.
"What's happening?..."Star exclaimed.
"I think their merging..."Sam said and she was right.
Once the two had passed through it, they saw that there was no longer a Fun Danny or a Super Danny...they had become one again.
"Huh?..."The newly restored Danny let out as he realized what happened.
"Wow, deja-vu..."Danny said as he got up.
"Danny, you're back!..."Star exclaimed as she ran and hugged him.
"Star! I'm glad to see you...even though I technically never left your side..."Danny said as he hugged her.
"I know what you mean but I'm still glad that you're finally back to your real self... My one and only Danny-Boo..."She said, just happy to have him back to normal...or their version of normal, anyway.
They would have kissed but they still had a brat to deal with. The ghostly hero looked up to his juvenile foe, who was childishly pouting now.
"Aw man, he's all back in one piece!..."Youngblood whined as the ghostly hero glared at him.
Danny took a few steps forward and addressed his child-like foe.
"Alright Youngblood. It's just you and me now..."Danny declared with a determined look on his face.
"Whatever, those other versions of you were too annoying anyway..."Youngblood scoffed as he sported a wicked smirk on his face. "Besides dealing with one Danny Phantom will be a lot easier than two..."He said arrogantly.
Danny looked towards his girlfriend, sister and friends and sent a confident thumb's up, ready to deal with this trouble-making toddler in a tin-can.
"I got this..."He said as he stood firm, ready to end this.

1) My favorite ghosts are Ember, Clockwork and Cujo.
2) I never loved the shipping but I didn't hate it. I just don't see Danny and Sam as being anything other than friends for the long term. Sure, I had Sam be Danny's love interest in some of my old stories but for the most part, I see them being better off as friends.
