So with Mikey out of commission for the time being we will introduce a third POV Mikey's while he's trapped in the Dreamscape

Yuki's POV

Papa led us all to Splinter's little 'Meditation Burrow' we left Mikey behind on the sofa bed hoping he would be all right.

"First thing you must know…" Papa said "…Is that there have been intelligent Mutant Animals long before you all came into being, at least since the Victorian Era at least…"

"The Victorian Era!" Don seemed to be trying to hold back laughter (He would later tell me it was because he was imagining Mutants wearing stovepipe hats and tails and imagining either Raph or Splinter wearing those items were what was causing him near fit of giggles)

"Yes." Papa said with a nod "Many of them from early versions of the Utrom Ooze that Mutated you…This was before proper burial of industrial waste…And most of these Mutants did not live very long…They were very often the source of stories of 'Werewolves' and other such monstrous beasts back in the 19th Century however to Utroms were quick to figure out when they were the cause of these 'werewolves' and when one was shot and killed they sent their agents to steal the body before it could be taxidermied and sent to a Natural History Museum."

"Why didn't they tell us?" Don asked seeming hurt that the Utroms never revealed these stories themselves

"Because they were ashamed pure and simple," Papa said "The Utroms aren't perfect as much as they want to think so…And the plain truth is these Mutants lived rough and miserable lives before they were killed, it was a rare Mutant who lived to be more than a year old…With the dawn of the 20th Century Human Scientists doing early experiments with bio-engineering created their own intelligent Mutants these early Mutants were often extremely crude compared to those born from Utrom Ooze and many times the intelligence was an accident and the scientists were horrified when the Lab animal either spoke or proved it was literate by writing its communication…Many often would try to destroy the freak before it could be revealed they had created an intelligent animal…That was the tale of the Poor Rat Mutant I failed to help…He was eventually found by his Creators…They chased him into a slaughterhouse and he died falling onto the sharp blades…"

The Turtles shuddered…And to my amazement even Jonathan seemed to shudder in sympathy for the long dead Rat Mutant…Maybe because as a criminal he often felt like a hunted animal…

"Since then there have been Kinder Creators…" Papa said "…May not be entirely selfless in their motivations to create intelligent animals but there are some that treat their creations with basic human decency even if they have to keep them hidden from the world at large…You live in New York City the self proclaimed center of the world…And like typical New Yorkers you rarely think about what happens outside of New York…But in the far flung corners of the globe are many places Mutants can live relatively hidden from most of Humanity…There are perhaps over a thousand mutants in North America alone!"

Papa said a Magic Prayer and the flames of the candles Splinter kept in the burrow shot out dozens of sparks! And those sparks all took the shape of various kinds of Mutant Animals…All Kinds of Animals could be seen in Mutated form! Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians…I think I even saw a Mutant Octopus among them!

"You see…" Papa said to all of us Mutants, but most particularly the Turtles and Splinter "…You were never alone in this world…But this world is so large, that great gaps exist between the Mutants…And Mutants can't exactly advertize the fact their Mutants to find others of their own kind…"

April then said "You said Christianity had the closest answer to why Mutants were coming to be…" She said

"Ah yes." Papa said with a sigh "That is both grand and grim…I believe the Animals are beginning to stand on their hind legs and speak because…They are the only ones who can save the human race…From themselves…"

Everyone became dead silent

"Over the course of this century Humanity, urged on by the Forces of Hell have slowly becoming more and more debauched and degenerate…People like Noble seek to enslave Humanity 'for their own good' and the common people for the most part are too asleep and too content with their bread and circuses to stand up and see what's happening and do something about it…Humanity needs an intervention but it's not going to come from races from beyond the stars…No…It must come from our Fellow Earthlings the creatures we have shared the Planet with since time immemorial, thus they understand us best and love us as no creature from another planet could…However this love will be of the tough variety and their will soon be some serious penance that will be brought about by the Mutants…"

Mikey's POV

Mikey found himself in a barren desolate landscape, he was sitting on a great stony pillar, one of many in this desolate wasteland…Mikey felt cold, the sky was gray and cloudy he called out "Master! Sensei! Anybody! Can anybody hear me?!"

And then he heard a cackle of bird-like laughter, a black shape darted across the sky and he heard the words

"Wise up, Give up, Grow up."

Yeah just leaving you a small hint of what's to come for Mikey once again mostly lifted from the Soul's Winter Trilogy here Desolation is gonna be much more unambiguously evil
