Admittedly revealing who my father was the way I did was foolish. Everywhere I went the first thing people seem to know about me is that I'm a bastard, not that I have magic or that I'm fighting to abolish slavery. Essos wasn't a place I had thought would make a big deal about a person being born out of wedlock but it seems as though I was wrong on that account. It was slightly annoying to have to deal with the thinly veiled discrimination but it was nothing compared to the annoying assassins being sent to kill me. It's as if the rulers of Westeros did not know when to give up. On the way to Yunkai, there were numerous attempts at my life, either someone would go for a direct attack or try to infiltrate my entourage, my observe ability allowed me to weed them out of course but I always let them get close and kill them in the most brutal of ways. What with my magic it was easy to give people a horrifying display of what my power could do. A spell here and a person's skin would melt off, a spell there and all their bones would snap and they would be a mangled mess. I had to remind the people loyal to me of what I could do to them if they ever betrayed me, but I balanced the cruelty with actions of kindness as well, healing people we came across as well as providing them with food and shelter should they need it.

"My lord, a message from Meereen, I suspect it is from your mother," Missandei informed me as she handed me the letter shortly after I had liberated the slaves of Astapor I had offered all those in fear of staying the choice to go to Meereen, of all the women Missandei and Adriana chose to stay. Missandei wanted to witness the liberation of all the slaves for herself, she had been a slave for a long time, and had been to all the great cities. While Adriana had proved to have an intelligent mind and chose to travel with me as a means of escaping her arranged marriage.

Dear Balerion

Things have been progressing well here. Although I was wary of your decision to give the remaining former masters a voice in the council I'm now at ease as it appears they are pleased with the inclusion and they have been offering insightful suggestions on how to rule Meereen better. The freed slaves from Astapor arrived safely. Missandei's suggestion of creating schools so that slaves who taught would have a chance to work and share their knowledge was excellent, even the free borns have taken on teaching positions. Your decision to set an age limit for when a person can marry has been met with some pushback, but we are working on enforcing the rule. All in all, Meereen is improving and it looks like we will not have to rely on slavery ever again.

love,

Mother

I let a laugh at the end, leave to mother to attach emotions to an important update. Noting my smile Adriana spoke up, "Good news I'm assuming?"

"Indeed," I replied, "It appears things are going well in Meereen, in fact, it appears there will never have to be a need for slavery ever again. I can confidently say Meereen has other means to support itself now," I continued on, "Now then let us discuss Astapor, letters sent here inform me that while the Unsullied I left there are keeping peace it won't be long before people start revolting, they need assurance that their lives will improve,"

Not a moment later Adriana started firing suggestions, "Perhaps we could start putting them in fields? But no Astapor's soil..." I muted her as she rembled on about how Astapor's soil wasn't suitable for crops.

I silenced her as an idea came to mind, "Perhaps we can start off with public works projects!" Noting their confusion I elaborated, "What I mean is that most of the housing in Astapor is in poor shape, only the Masters had good housing, we can pay people to build better housing or temples..." Adriana nodded along at my suggestions as Missandei's soft voice overtook my own.

"If I may suggest my lord, while Astapor was famous for the Unsullied the weapons they used were also much-coveted, the masters refused to sell them single. One had to buy an unsullied, but now that the unsullied are no longer for sale you can have the craftsman continue creating the weapons so that they may be sold and of course the craftsman will be compensated for their work,"

Adriana clapped her hands as she nodded her head, "I agree, also to boost morale you can have your 'magic' water transported to Astapor for the people to drink and get better," She gave me a look, "Also the city of Qarth offers its help, and in return, you would have to create Amulets for them,"

I gave a snort at the last part, "Do they honestly still believe that my power comes from my Amulet? I would have thought that news of what happened in Astapor would have reached them buy now," I shook my head, "In any case, they do not matter let us finish planning out the future of Astapor before we reach Yunkai,"

Adriana and Missandei gave each other a look.

"Are you sure about this? The army we have is small and with the amount of Unsullied left behind to keep order in Astapor...well we are worried on how exactly we will go about freeing Yunkai," Adriana questioned.

"The rulers of Yunkai have refused to surrender," Missandei added. "Most likely they will hide behind the massive walls of the city." She gave me a look, "Walls that we have no way of breaking past,"

"Fear not, I will be personally joining the battle to take the city, you will finally see what exactly it is that my magic is capable of," I gave them a grin.

Missandei watched at a distance as Balerion and his army made their way to the walls of Yunkai. The young master seemed confident that they would breach the walls, though how she was not sure herself.

Besides her, Adriana spoke, "Do you think he can really bring down the walls? I have seen what he can do but this is different from crushing a man's bones or setting them on fire..."

"I must admit I'm doubtful, but the young master seems sure that after today Yunkai will be a free city...I-" Missandei cut herself off as she noticed that they had reached the walls. Balerion held out his hands, palms facing the walls, and started chanting. The wind started howling as it furiously whipped dust and rocks about, then suddenly it stopped. Missandei watched in disbelief as the walls blew inward from an unseen force, leaving behind a massive hole.

Besides her, Adriana was slackjawed at what just happened, "Gods...what...how is this possible..." she spoke to no one in particular, and while Missandei was rightfully terrified at the power the young master displayed she thanked whatever God that he was on their side.

"They say he is headed to Yunkai Khaleesi, I must urge you to think carefully about what you want to do. I know that your brother is cruel and the conditions here are not favorable but we do not know this boy. He might be even worse-" Jorah was harshly cut off.

"Then what would you have me do! I cannot stay here any longer! Every day is a nightmare and whenever that man comes I..." Daenerys choked as she thought of her husband. The man was insatiable, he never failed to take her multiple times a day.

Jorah lowered his eyes as shame, anger, and jealousy consumed him all at once, "I'm sorry I cannot protect you Khaleesi, whatever decision you make I will help you see it through."

Daenerys took a steadying breath as her eyes landed on the three dragon eggs before her, as if in a trance she slowly reached out and touched them. A familiar yet foreign power filled her. Her heartbeat steadied and her eyes hardened with resolve as she made her choice.
