A couple days after the battle with the newborns and facing the Volturi guard, Saphira found herself in the cave behind her house again. She sat on the floor, hugging her knees as she stared at the items her father had made for her, not knowing if he had a sense of realisation when the guard returned to Volterra. Her anxiety has also hit a new high, and as a result she has refused to eat anything as a result of it due to the nausea that she felt from it. However, she did know that she could not be here forever. Now that the newborns were gone, and that red haired vampire was no longer causing a nuisance to the Cullens, they could focus on Bella now. And her of course, but she had more time than they did with Bella as Saphira's life was still nowhere near the end. Nonetheless, Saphira decided to pay the Cullens a visit today as a normal visit. It was strange for her to do, before the Cullens she did not have anyone but the winds and the trees to talk to, and they often had things to say if one would listen closely. Forcing herself to get up from the floor and change into a decent outfit, wearing a different black coat with black and white fur around the hood and brushed her hair. Once she was decent, she made her from her house to the Cullen house, not really knowing what she would do there other than to talk.

Upon arriving at the doorstep, Carlisle greeted her at the door. She sensed excitement from him, which made her confused, but she did not think it would have anything to do with her. "It is wonderful to see you again Saphira, and good timing. I have some good news for you."

Saphira stopped and looked at him with a confused frown. She has not had anything good in a long time. "I hope it really is good, that sort of thing has not happened to me in a long time."

His face fell slightly with pity for her before he stepped aside to let her into the house and took her coat as she slipped it off. "I am sorry that you feel that way, but you have to trust me that it is good. Aro contacted me last night. Did you happen to approach the Volturi guard during the newborn battle by any chance?"

Surprise took hold of her, she turned to stare at him in disbelief. This must be a bad joke, and she wanted to get it out right now. "Yes I did, I guess he called to demand what kind of an illusion was manifested to them. I had hoped he would see their minds, but I honestly did not think it would work."

The vampire smiled kindly and gently grabbed her arms. "You have it all wrong. He called me to talk to me privately about his daughter. He told me that he saw the memories of Jane and Dimitri regarding a dragon they met on a ridge overlooking the field where we fought. And Dimitri also had memories of that said dragon that seemed to involve him. And he said that he could not help but wonder if his daughter is alive. He had doubted, but this dragon has made him rethink that. After all, that is what is daughter was supposed to be."

Her heart was racing when she heard this. He actually took interest, and that made her palms sweat at the thought. She clenched her eyes shut for a moment. "I am happy Carlisle, but is he coming? Is he going to investigate what exactly they saw to confirm his suspicions?"

The vampire hesitated for a second, which made Saphira's throat tighten as the pain of Aro abandoning her started to creep back in. "He said he was not sure. He wants to, but he does not know what to say to the rest of the Volturi. They all believe you are dead, so for him to tell them this would confuse them, and it could cause something worse."

"What does this mean about your plan for him to meet me?" Saphira asked bluntly, her eyes were brimming with tears. Once again, Aro chose not to come straight away and it hurt her to the core. She just wanted to break something, or cause an earthquake to calm her mind down.

"I will have to change it some, but I believe it will still work. Please relax, I can hear your heartbeat Saphira and I don't want you to worry." Carlisle's reassurances were comforting, but not enough to ease the anxiety rising in Saphira's body. "You must believe that Aro will come."

"NO!" Saphira snapped, her voice was so loud that it shook the house. "I stopped believing that a long time ago Carlisle! I want to believe it, but it has never happened before. Why do I need to start believing it now? Your plan is good, but he needs an extremely good reason to come here. You know this. I would rather you be my family now than wait for one who abandoned me."

Carlisle's eyes were soft and relaxed as he listened to her raised voice. Esme, Rosalie and Emmett came downstairs in shock as they had heard and felt Saphira's voice through the house. They saw her tears falling and her body trembling, she was broken despite being a powerful creature. It made them realize that one could have all the power in the world, but still not be happy and need both love and comfort for them to start healing.

The blonde vampire pulled Saphira to hug her. "I am sorry that you feel this way, I do not blame you. Asking you to believe was the wrong word. But instead of believing in him, could you believe in me in helping you? Even if it does not go the way that you hope. You still have us as your family, even if Aro did come back."

Saphira breathed deeply as she let tears fall, smiling as she felt safe and comfort in his arms. "Thank you Carlisle." She stepped back and breathed deeply, wiping her tears away. "Anyway, I wanted to come by because I wanted to have some company. Is that okay?"

"Of course, you are welcome anytime. We actually were talking about wedding plans for Edward and Bella. I am not sure if that is something that would interest you." Her eyebrows rose in surprise, not realizing they were going to be married soon. "I suppose we are not sure if you have had anyone in your life that you loved."

She shook her head. "No, I chose not to pursue any close relationship. I outlive humans, and maybe I will find a vampire to love, but I could not bear the idea of losing another one I love. So I am afraid, I am not a very good person to come to regarding relationships. Most of mine were friends and acquaintances, they are all gone and I am not as in pain about that."

Carlisle was saddened by this. He was sure that the damage from Aro's abandonment had been a reason for this decision, but nonetheless, he decided it was best to not ask that. "In any case, maybe you would like to be part of it."

"I will think on it, but I honestly will just be in the shadows. However, I could potentially attend the wedding at the very least. I have attended many in my years, so I am not a stranger to them at all. I just do not feel I'll ever know what it feels like."

Emmett suddenly chuckled, getting a confused look from everyone in the room. "Does that mean you are still virgin?"

Her eyes narrowed at him before smirking. "Of course not, just because I have not fallen in love with anyone does not mean I am still a virgin. There were plenty of men I have slept with in the past to fill those needs. And by the way, why would that matter if I was? I can see why it is funny, but it is rather an unnecessary question to ask."

"I was just curious that is all, I apologise if it offended you. It just seemed to me that you might be." Emmett smiled at her, Saphira could see he was being childish and she did not mind. He was a lot younger than her, so compared to her he was a child.

"I can understand. And now that I am going to be spending more time with you, perhaps I should introduce myself to your wolf neighbours." The vampires look shocked by what she said, which made Saphira smirk at them. "Do not be alarmed, the wolves are not likely to harm me."

"Perhaps not, I am not sure how they would feel about a dragon being around their territory," Carlisle said as he rubbed the back of his neck. "However, it would be better than for them to discover one flying over the forest. I'll give Sam a call, will we explain to them about your father?"

"I think they should know in case he decides to show up in regard to me. I doubt they would do anything to me since I was born before Aro was turned. I have seen them from afar, so I have an understanding of their nature." Saphira sighed and walked to the stairs. "Now maybe we should head up instead of staying here on the bottom floor the entire time."

"Good idea. Are you hungry? We have been practicing cooking ever since Bella came into the family." Esme smiled kindly at Saphira. Saphira thought about it as she had not really eaten due to how she has been feeling, but her stomach began to growl rather loudly. "Maybe you do not need to answer. Is there anything that you want specifically?"

Saphira giggled softly as she walked up the stairs with Esme beside her. "Not really, I have not eaten properly in a long time. So a good filling meal would be good for me." Esme's face saddened slightly upon hearing what Saphira said. "Do not worry, dragons can go without food for a long time."

"But can they do that regularly due to your anxiety?" Esme questions, Saphira shook her head. "Well than, that is going to change. Though you do not actually look underweight, but your clothes might be hiding that fact."

"You could say that. But I will warn you I struggle to swallow sometimes due to that, so I will be slow in eating. I do not like to rush my meal." Saphira looked to Carlisle curiously. "By the way, is Jacob healed yet? I did know that his bones were crushed by a newborn."

"Oh, he is practically healed now," Carlisle said softly. "Hey Bella, would you like some food? We are going to make some for Saphira?" Saphira did not realize that Bella was here and she saw the good nodding. "I guess we have two mouths to feed, maybe a little bit to the side for the wolves."

"I really hope it is a good idea," Bella said, she and Edward were seated on the couch together. There were wedding magazines over the coffee table, and Alice was sitting reading through them. "Sorry about the mess, but I am sure you were told about the wedding."

"Yes I was, I cannot give any relationship advice though." Saphira smirked at them, walking over to take a seat. "But I can still be around for the wedding." She picked up a magazine to read through it. She did wish for a spouse, someone who she could live with forever, but she avoided so much heartache for herself and anyone who tries to get close to her.

"Sam and the pack are on their way," Carlisle announced, looking up from his phone. "Hopefully we will not have a forest fire today."

"I doubt it, a bunch of frostbite would be more likely the case. It would be less suspicious that way." Saphira flipped through the magazine, looking at the dresses with keen interest, she did not know what kind of dress Bella would wear but she liked some of them.

"What kind of enemies did you face in your life anyway?" Bella's question had everyone's eyes upon her. Saphira did not look up however. "And how did they become your enemy? Aside from the fact you are a dragon."

Saphira sighed deeply. "Everyone of my enemies were human Bella. However, in the early years of my life, I used to use my abilities for good. The world was never more fertile and green, but a group of humans managed to weaken me with a poison from true werewolf blood mixed with the venom of an extinct viper and bring me to their encampment. They had attempted to impregnate me as they wanted to create an army of dragons, they never got very far of course. So they drew my blood, drinking it like wine." She paused for a moment and clenched her eyes shut as she remembered that moment. "They thought by drinking my blood they would become dragons. They became something far worse, the dragon DNA in the blood turned them into hybrid, mutated creatures that resembled dragons, but were on a massive bloodlust for power, death and greed. They were the inspiration for what demons look like in fantasy, but I suppose they were demons at the time. They were as strong as vampires, not as fast, but they had their own breaths mixed with fire and poison that was worse than regular fire. Believe it or not, they were extremely hard to kill. I had to forge a sword, infused with my magic to defeat them. Only one took me five and a half thousand years to kill, he was cunning and calculated. Outside of those monsters, there were plenty of humans who wanted my scales and horns for gold, but of course, they were minor compared to the hybrids created from my blood."

"That sounds horrible," Carlisle said, he and Esme were still making up food which was a chicken pasta dish. But they were listening to the story and were horrified. "I am sure you have been through more, but that sounds horrible."

"It was, it was the only time I ever got close to being raped and I never allowed my guard to come down like that ever again. I am just glad they are all gone, although I still worry that Devlin survived, he was the last of the hybrids that had to be killed. Now, I bear a lot of the emotional and mental scars from all those years." Saphira glanced up at them, lowering the magazine onto her lap. "I will say, those were times that I am glad Aro did not come back into my life. They often taunted me with the idea of using my parents against me, they never found out about Aro though. In fact, it was the day I killed Devlin was when I showed myself for the last time to Aro, and he failed to reciprocate to it."

"I suppose there was benefit there, and now that your enemies are all dead, it is safe for him to come back. And hopefully he will," Edward said reassuringly. Saphira smiled at him with appreciation. "I would love to see your magic at work at some point. I know you fear to use it due to the past, but we can help you if that happens."

"I may do that sometime, I can share my memories in a way that is interesting. If this is something to be used for your wedding, I am afraid I cannot do that with humans being there at the wedding. I want to keep us all safe." Saphira doubted the reason for wanting to see her magic was for the wedding, but that is something she thought of rather quickly.

"We would not ask that of you, I just am curious how a creature like you uses magic. It definitely would be the statement of magical." Edward chuckled as his light joke, which caused Jasper, Alice and Bella to smirk.

"And you are right, it is magical. But you will have to wait, the wolves are here." The vampires were surprised by what Saphira said. "Can't you hear them?"

"Oh yeah, we can now. We were focused on you," Carlisle said, leaving the kitchen to head downstairs. "I will be back up with them in a minute. I had no idea your senses were that sharp, I am impressed."

Saphira rolled her eyes and chuckled, the vampires here were amusing her. She could hear the voices of the Quiluetes downstairs, she did not sit up at all as she would greet them as a person normally would. She did not doubt they would be concerned about her, but they had nothing to do with her so she as sure things would work out for a truce at least like they have with the Cullens.
