Chapter 9. At World's End Continued.
The Black Pearl's black sails were blowing in the wind. The humidity was a hot one in the air and the sun was shining bright right over the ocean and no land was ever seen for miles anywhere at all. It was all open sea in Davy Jones' Locker and the navigational charts that they were trying to figure out to get out of this heat in Jones' Locker. Hector Barbossa and Lara Teague walked in a slow pace on deck with their grins on their faces. Barbossa was so happy that he got the Black Pearl back. Lara was excited as he was to be back on the ship once again.
Lara was still disappointed towards Elizabeth when she found out that she had Captain Sparrow sent to the Kraken. If Jack or any of her ancestors died during that time back then, Lara and her family on her father's side would never be there in the later future at all. But, here she was alive and well and trapped into another time with the Pirates, so she would have to save the Pirates from the East India Trading Company and the war coming. She would not let them die what so ever. She knew that Elizabeth was below deck, sitting and thinking of what she had done and Swan felt guilty of placing Jack to the Kraken. Will would want to know who she was when he asks Elizabeth.
Lara walked towards the bow when she turned around and she heard both Jack and Hector shouting about set sailing towards their destination. "Trim that sail!" Barbossa and Sparrow both said, yelling and trying to tell each other who was boss. Apparently, Jack and Hector were. They are Captains. Lara quietly laughed as she shook her head at this amused. They both were fighting like kids in a way they were acting like, but it was funny to Lara. The other Pirates looked at them like they were odd, doing that. They are Captains after all. "Slack windward and sheet! Haul that pennant line!" They added as they walked in a rush close on each other's heels, rushing along the upper deck. Gibbs watched them as he rested his hand on his forehead and shaking his head at this.
Sparrow was imitating Barbossa's words. Word after word. "What are you doing?" Hector asked sternly to him. He knew that Madame Teague was listening. Everyone else on deck was listening to them as well while they were doing their duties on the upper and lower decks. Will and Elizabeth were probably listening to them as well.
Jack squared his shoulders, trying to defend himself. "The Captain 'gives' orders on a ship." Sparrow explained with a sneer at him, trying to tell him who was boss. Lara knew now that Hector and Jack never got along well. Madame Teague felt bad about them two.
Barbossa looked at Jack with determination. "The Captain 'is' giving orders." He said as he glared at him. He was still holding onto the navigational charts in his hands. Who was winning this battle of fighting verbally here? Hector or Jack?
Sparrow stared at him with slightly wide eyes as he turned his nose up at Barbossa in defiance. "My ship... That makes 'me' Captain." He said with determination.
Hector scoffed in frustration. "They be 'my' charts!" He barked at him. Barbossa was just about had it with Jack. Their faces were close, nose to nose as they were glaring at one another. Lara looked at them both and she blushed. She lifted her hand to cover her eyes when she turned her head towards Gibbs and the others, shaking her head with an embarrassed smile on her face. 'They need to work together instead of fucking fighting against each other and they sure as hell will beat the living shit out of each other if they keep at it like kids.' She thought to herself with a quiet chuckle.
Pintel and Ragetti walked down the stairs if the Black Pearl Ragetti was right behind him. "Stow it, the both of you! That's an order understand?!" Pintel shouted at both Barbossa and Sparrow. The two Captains turned their heads to give him the menaced glare. Like if looks would murder. Pintel gave them an embarrassed small laugh and then, he backed up to give room for Hector and Jack as he raised his hand up in surrender and he said his sorry. He hoped that they would not kill him for this. Barbossa and Sparrow were hot on each other's heels as they continued arguing about who was in charge. At this, Lara followed Jack and Hector towards the ship's helm.
Will Turner walked down below deck, looking for her and he found Elizabeth, sitting on the stairs that goes towards the upper decks. Her head bowed down like she was ashamed of what she had done to Jack and she knew this to be true. Elizabeth knew that Lara was going to find out sooner or later. Will's thoughts were about this woman that he had never seen before, so he would ask Elizabeth about her. Well, at least try to ask her. He only seen her briefly when they were in Singapore. Will stood right in front of her, looking down at her and he quietly sighed. "Elizabeth, I'm curious about who this woman is, who came with all of you to get the charts and saving Jack. Do you have any idea of who she is if I may ask?" He asked her. He knew that she knows something the woman from the future.
Swann looked up at Turner with furrowed eyebrows. And she took a deep breath. She knew that when she says something to Will about Lara, she had a gut feeling that Turner would someone about her. That he would betray them and that would be a disaster if that happens. "All that I can tell you, Will is that she is a friend. Nothing more." That was all Elizabeth told him in a calm determined voice that told him no argument. Will hoped to get more out of her, but he didn't push her any further.
Will leaned over and he rested his hands on the wooden post, staring at Swann when he sighed. "You left Jack to the Kraken." He stated to her. Turner knew that he needed more answers from her as to why. Her secrets went deeper than he expected.
Elizabeth knew that he was angry and disappointed with her in a dangerous calm. Will needed to know more of why from Swann. She knew that Jack might or might not forgive her for this and she looked up at Turner and she felt nothing but relief, but she still felt guilty that she had sent Jack to the Kraken. "He's rescued now, so it's over with now." She said stubbornly, but she was trying to quickly change the subject. The look on Will's face was the look of determination at first just before he looked away from looking at her. Elizabeth quickly got to her feet. "Will, I had no choice." She said in a harsh whisper. She didn't want the other up on deck to hear them arguing.
"You chose not to tell me about this." Will harshly whispered back at her.
Swann took a deep breath. "I couldn't." She said as she squared her shoulders. "It wasn't your burden to bear." She said before she walked past him.
But Will then gently grabbed her arm and he turned her around, forcing her to face him to look in the eyes. "But I did bear it. Didn't I?" He asked her. Elizabeth may know what the answer when Turner said this. "Even though, I didn't know what it was, but I thought..." He said, but she interrupted him.
Elizabeth knew the answer that Will was saying. "You thought that I loved him." She said with wide eyes and she knew that answer. Will was afraid to lose Elizabeth Swann over Captain Jack Sparrow.
Swann pulled away, but Turner blocked her way and he got her backed up to a wooden post as she looked up at him with despair look on her face. She was also afraid that she would lose Will Turner like, Will would be afraid as well. Losing each other. "If you make your choices alone, Elizabeth, how can I trust you?" He firmly whispered to her. Swann told him that she could not. Elizabeth saw the look of pain on Will's face before she walked away from him for the time being.
It was night time already. The stars were shining into the sky and other pirates were walking in a small pace on deck. Everyone was trying to get where they were going exactly and getting to their destination to Shipwreck Island from Davy Jones' Locker. Hopefully getting right to Shipwreck Cove to gather the nine Pirate Lords. In the Captain's cabin, Hector, Lara and Jack spoke about what they were going to do when they get to go meet the other Pirate Lords in Shipwreck Cove. But at the moment, they were still arguing about who was in charge.
As the two Captains and Lara were talking, Jack had gotten to know his descendant better as she told him of what had happen to get her here in this time. Sparrow was interested in this. This was no surprise to Barbossa because he had already knew about Lara's story about her time from the future. Gibbs walked into the Captain's cabin. "Do we have a heading, Cap'n?" He asked Jack and Hector.
Barbossa and Sparrow started arguing once again just before rushed for the door to the outside. Both Gibbs and Lara hung their heads down when they shook their heads, chuckling at this. Lara locked her eyes with Joshame. "You know something, Master Gibbs? Yet they still fight like kids of who wants to be in charge. They're Captains." She said with a shrug of her shoulders and they laughed at this.
"Aye, that be, Madame Teague." Gibbs agreed with her. Both Lara and Gibbs walked out of the Captains' cabin to go up on deck towards the helm in which was right above the Captain's cabin. When Gibbs and Lara walked up the stairs to the helm, they saw both Captains pulling the ship's helm back and forth. Cotton and his parrot was looking at them and what was wondering what was going on. Hopefully, Hector and Jack would not kill each other out there.
Meanwhile, at the bow of the Black Pearl, Pintal and Ragetti had their fishing poles, trying to catch any fish to cook and eat them. In Davy Jones' Locker? How can you find anything in the water in Jones' Locker? But anyway, Ragetti and Pintal looked over into the water and they waited for their food to be caught.
As the Black Pearl sailed along, instead of catching fish, Pintal and Ragetti saw ghost of body figures floating about as they passed the ship. There were more bodies to be expected. Both Pirates freaked out about this that there were ghosts floating in the ocean. Tia Dalma knew of this. "Erie." Pintal said softly as he watched the ghostly bodies floating by.
Ragetti raised his eyebrows. "I wonder what would happen if we dropped a cannon ball on one of 'em?" He asked Pintal, who he smiled slyly before they both went over to get one to see what happens.
After they got a hold of one cannon ball in hand, they walked back to the bow of the ship and then, they saw Tia Dalma glaring at both Ragetti and Pintal straight in the eyes. "Be disrespectful, it would be." He said as both Pirates looked at Tia.
"They should be in the care of Davy Jones." Tia said firmly to them. Dalma then turned back around and looked at the ghostly bodies in the water sadly. The two Pirates noticed that Tia Dalma felt connected and something that meant for her there. There was something that she was not telling the others of who she really was. Not yet though. She turned back around and she looked out towards the sea. "That was the duty he was charged with by the Sea Goddess, Calypso, to ferry those, who died at sea to the other side." She said when she turned her head to look at Pintal and Ragetti. "And every ten years, he could come ahore to be with she who loved him truly." Tia said as she shook her head slightly. "But the man has become a monster."
Ragetti lifted his hands as he was doing the creepy crawly gesture. "So, he wasn't always that tentacly?" He asked. Pintal looked at him and Dalma with curiosity.
Tia smiled sadly. "No, he was a man once." She said softly when she rested her hand on her heart shaped necklace before she looked up as she looked out towards the ocean.
The rest of the crew were below deck resting for the night. Pintal and Ragetti saw the boats in the water. "And now they're boats comin'." He said as they looked on.
Hector, Jack, Lara and the others, who were out on deck when they saw ahead of them that there were boats with women, men, even the children were in them, who were holding lamps in their hands. "We are nothing, but ghosts to them." Tia told them when they realized of why these people were in the small boats. Hector told them to let them be. Elizabeth saw her father in one of the boats and she was shocked that her father was in one. Swann tried to get her father aboard, but she knew that she couldn't. Even though that Dalma knew that these people couldn't, because they were dead and holding the lamps in boats. Govnenor Swann told them about the heart of Davy Jones and his chest.
Elizabeth could not accept the fact that her father was dead. Tia told the crew that no one was to leave the Black Pearl, because if they did, there was no one to go back to the living somehow as it seemed. Swann tried to get to her father before Will caught her in time. Barbossa and Lara were concerned for her and the others were as well. Everyone hoped to fine a way to get them back, but they knew that they couldn't. "May they rest in peace." Dalma said sadly.
