"Aaahhhhh~... mmnnn..." I mewled softly as I tried to wrap myself tighter into the blankets. trying to shut out the light rays as I whimpered softly.
There is something I want you to know, Drowning. If you never had the chance to experience it... is horrifying, even in swimming pools. You struggle to breathe, pain builds up and you desperately want to get to the surface. Just how I ended up in this situation is something I tell you, My last memory before ending up here was climbing into bed after I pulled a late-nighter again roleplaying with close friends. So how did I get here you ask?
Another reminder to myself that I am supposed to meet with someone important today forces me to stretch lazily in bed as I throw off the blankets. my mind just trying to catch up.
You know what else sucks? Waking up with two sets of memories. One being yourself and the other the collective hopes and dreams of many is NOT fun in the slightest. Sure, You would have the memory before you got shoved into a spare body. and the memory of whoever you got shoved into.
Or... is it the other way around? I was not sure about that, The only thing that I knew is that when I woke up underwater. it was not a dream because of... for lack of a better word, a basic urge to reach the surface and panic.
Yes, You heard me right, I am not human anymore. and a Transhumanist part of me is glad that I don't anymore. shivering at the thought of associating myself with the same rich bastards who would rather let the world burn. I was a Kansen. a Shipgirl. Kanmusu, I remembered having one of my dreams... A dream where I was Johnston... drove a child to a cinema while avoiding oncoming vehicles and somehow driving off-road.. breaking in... only for that to suddenly change.
Then I imagined myself as a small boy again. That same happy and carefree boy, But I saw the semi-transparent form of Sayaka miki telling me I need to fight for whatever I believe in, Almost like a dream out of a certain mecha anime. And then the Abyssals from Kantai collection. asking me to be one with them in my mental trip. There was a light out at the classroom's door, I kept going toward it... I think. as the whole classroom stare dat me, It was warm. different from the icy cold of everything in that dream, Then there was pain when something gave...
And then I woke up underwater. As underwater as the perspective of a sinking shipgirl in fanart of Kancolle arcade. And then I stood up on the water. Standing. Almost like it is as natural as the art of looking at something. And the whole experience of having to offload excess water as a green inexperienced kansen. And then I found my way to Azur lane. And I didn't even last long with them.
Do I like it?
Well, I am mostly positive but there are some issues as well. The power when before you were just one helpless boy meant to be exploited by corporations as a taxpayer and then thrown away like a spent bullet case once you are frail? Oh yes, And I am not ashamed of admitting it.
The fact I could launch a covert attack by covertly going into a country pretending to be another girl in the city of town, then planning a attack on a school of highway of some other important place. and trying to kill as many as possible with secondary autocannons even without your hull? That had its own appeal, Even if the cyberpsychotic side of me didn't want to kill what I saw as... Ignorant, Curious but ignorant on why their affluence was there. built on the backs of the subpoverty working poor... Even if the reason half of the world is still around was because of the Haber-bo...and...and mineral..bab...
...That I was also a Mahou Shoujo for some reason because I looked up Nanoha of Madoka of Touhou project? Maybe Neptunia? That also counted. And as if being a shipgirl wasn't enough? Me being a magical girl also augmented me. And the powers? From projectiles to shielding protection abilities and even limited flight? That made me (Of any other hypothetical Magical kansens) what I was to regular shipgirls that Magical girls were to humans? That I didn't end up like a Puella magi and I instead (from my findings) a flexible user of the Touhou. Neptunia (Healing). Nanoha (Midchilda. Belkan) systems. Limited only by me learning new skills and my imagination? Oh yes.
But... The regimented life of a Shipgirl? All of the classes on top of combat training and more? Anything that didn't my improve my killing skills so I can kill more people of sink more? I really disliked it, Especially the rapid and basic history courses.
Oh, Did i tell you that being a shipgirl of not. I was still obligated to undergo education as usual unless I am able to explode. That didn't change with the sirens. One bit. The bane of being a Magical girl when it comes to that sort of thing...
Not even trying to get back to sleep could get me anything as I couldn't feel anything other than being incredibly sleepy. And so there was me on the bed, with my head buried deep into the pillow. wishing to just laze and be a NEET some more while I idly and sleepily thought.

Well, That was something new. Someone just read what i was thinking and politely chided me to get up. The sound I just heard was female, not my own's. with a gentle tone and came from inside my body. Specifically, It came from a source to which noone had a clue on when. where and how that happened, I bought my hand up and ignited a small green flame at eye-level.
I pushed away my slowly receding sleepiness. The thing is that I can 'talk' to her, but its more like talking to myself. In turn she can talk to me, but she's not there. Like its a sort of telepathic thing. Its more that she's... something special, Something which should not exist in Azur Lane. something with a similar personality and hair color... The one responsible for managing my combat electronics and any AEGIS of PAAMS-like system... Reinforce Eins. That superb strong character who nearly bested the main cast in a anime. Who was my spiritual roommate.
I whispered hopefully as I stretched my body more. "Aaauuhhh, Nice sleep we got last day. Rein?" and then I added after a pause. "Is the meeting this early?"
'her' reply was immediate. "It is likely soon, mistress. I suggest you don't waste time." Huh, Just as on-to-the-point with a slight tone of being content. At least I don't have Homura of Sayaka of Sailor moon or even worse, Neptune as my roommate inside my mind. That would be even more worse and if I had to put up with Sayaka's constant complaining of Homura's single-minded focus of Neptune's comedic and stupid nature...
Staring ahead at nothing. silent for a few moments as I internally groaned to myself about my laziness. However, with me being sleepy. I reminded myself to get up as I took off my pajamas and threw on my clothes as I grabbed a chocolate bar to eat, sending a glance toward my computer before opening the door to a bright new day and slamming it shut. intending to meet with my siren superior as i stretched before resuming my walk. happily skipping ahead to my destination.
Why may I become a traitor, you suppose? Personally. There were multiple reasons behind this, One was that because of my past. I had a rough history and me being somewhat poor after the subprime die-off had only added more fuel. The second was that I didn't want to stay with Azur lane after the war was over. There were theories that Humanity could turn on their saviors. The weapons they made to fight off the sirens who in my headcanon were the Original Shipgirls theirselves. Made by DAPRA in a experiment who escaped soon and destroyed the data. crazy, right?
Third was that I generally tended to be a fan of Koishi, Flandre. Satori... Rumia. You could say I had a knack for controlling dark characters, Fourth was that owning to the world's continuing evils from which I became aware of in my browsing on reddit and the internet... Democratic underground and the ring of fire among many others had caused me to know Neoliberalism. Responsible for my dad's long hours even though we both were close to each other. Austerity, Zombie economies and digital armbreakers. College degrees becoming the new diploma. Failure of wages to keep up with inflation. Systematic usage of the serf sheeple and the idiots by far-right lords.. Denied my education, The failure of automation to reduce hours as promised by the technocrats. Bullshit jobs. And far more. Like school bullies that are charismatic. assertive and dominating and go on to become psychopathic CEOs and seniors who plunder companies before getting a golden parachute.
The Fifth was the most important. I remembered the thing about Kansens being made as weapons by their overlords. Pushing the problem to someone's else so they could just sit back and watch the war from their TVs while us girls did the bulk of the fighting. If the war ended, What would happen to us? Would we be considered equal of just a second-class race good for nothing other than as disposable and forgotten war heroes. pawns in geopolitics and resource wars like Iraq of regime change? Eternal service? Fear?
These were the people who had no qualms about invasions just for regime change of other god-knows-what reasons. Who would not hesitate to forget about shipgirls and their achievements. Who didn't care until it hit them, by which point it was too late. The fact I was a Mahou Shoujo in addition to having modern technology? There was the dreadful possibility I would get a spot on the scrapping table in something straight out of Kokutou's art-To make more shipgirls enhanced by whatever they discovered in me. as absolutely obedient weapons and nothing more.
Sure, they might not have done what I was thinking but... No. I was not willing to take the risk, You know how long I lasted in Azur lane before I made the strategic decision and sailed off with tears in my eyes. never looking back? Several days. a few weeks at most.
As Reinforce Idled quietly in my mind, I began to think back to why I joined the sirens. One was that I could easily identify with them and it made sense to do so as a fellow shipgirl. In addition to my bargaining power with my potential... Well, I remembered a phrase about the KC Abyssals in that they didn't mistreat any of their own. captured shipgirls of not. Granted, That was a comment. But if the Sirens really looked out for other shipgirls... And if in addition they also had the value of demonstrating that even shipgirls weren't immune to going rogue..
The second was that I knew I wanted to change the world. I wanted to change it so these kind of disgusting things didn't have to happen. From the working subpoverty to morons worldwide consuming and wasting shit until crap reached them, by which point it was too late... I wanted to break that ignorant view, I wanted to show them the real horrors of their foreign policy that wasn't filtered and insulated by the media. To shatter their 'out of sight. out of mind' thought trains and show that their meaningless work-drone styles could still be undone by a vengeful young boy. With the bottled up hatred and anger instead of letting it out as tears. To show the ones who thought of the homeless as subhuman like the rich in their walled communities of the salaryman that the one they would have made fun of previously in school and bullied in college... Would be the one to become the executioner of their family and the Industrialized world as a whole.
After all, If in the end you are going to get corrupted by Dark magic (of either embrace it willingly and pull off a CDDA Mycus or Kancolle defection to the abyssals) in your mental downspiral and end up like Saber Alter of fan-versions of Dark Nanoha of evil Fate, Of end up like Homura Akemi of Mami Tomoe. Dark quinlet art of not, Hell. Even the shipgirls in shigureru's art of Kurome ankokuboshi. Then why not do it with a evil grin of smile and fulfill the ultimate manifestation of your hatred and contempt at the world? Why not be the bad cop in Entropy Zero for once?

The Tome of the Night Sky:Enterprise gains bonuses when fighting during the nighttime of in low-light conditions such as storms. Has increased Magical reserves and endurance. Can learn enemy tactics and cross-refer them though computerized database for suggestions as a carryover of 'Collect and Use'. Learns abilities and grows faster as a rookie Magical girl. Well-versed in ranged and close combat abilities. Has a lot more in common with Kuuderes than a human, making it easier for Enterprise to control misplaced reactions to the death of her Union/Ironblood/Shikikan targets of when sinking refugee ships of attacking refugee convoys with Attack helicopters. Additionally, Situational awareness and command skills are easier to learn and maintain.
Gefängnis der Magie:Generates some sort of Mirror seas-like-Witch-barrier-field which is partly subject to Enterprise's and Rein's whims but can be improved over time. Warning, has very high stamina/magic consumption.
Triple Shot
Dream of the Book of Darkness:Attacks victim mind and traps them within a vertigo of their own failures and dreams. Exceptionally destructive against vulnerable shipgirls like Akagi. Taihou of Roon. Currently not unlocked.
Bloody Dagger:Fires lock-on autoguided rings of red daggers which leave behind trails of red light. Very useful for neutralizing FAC threats such as Enemy destroyers and cruiser raiders as well as destroying enemy aircraft. Can be levelled up also.
Mahou Shoujo Sixth sense:Has a Absolute Detection radius by virtue of detecting other's intentions and the ability to sense danger coming. Aircraft and helicopters become very difficult to sneak up on from behind. Moderate improvement to accuracy and evasion plus massive bonus at detecting covert operatives.
Ramiel's beam-The Angel of Thunder Divine Buster:Powers up a deadly arcane beam capable of shooting though a building and corroding down Yamato-type threats in just a few seconds.

Equipment:Twin Mark 42 'Type B' ES Propellant DSSP Mod 2015 Electrothermal Chemical guns. Several Mark 34s (1RL144 set). Unnamed 155mm Combustion Light Gas Hypersonic bombardment cannons. SAK 40mm L/70s. 25mm KBAs (What, were you expecting a Japanese joke with no medium 37mm gun on their ships?) Sea Sparrows+RIM-24 Launchers (RIM-7M+P). A few 2-4x 35mm Millennium guns (AHEAD). Standard 324/480mm anti-submarine torpedoes and emergency depth charges as well as more. possibly Ikara.
Aircraft:MiG-29SMT (4x KCA cannon modification. Precious and uncommon) F-16s. Secondhand daytime. Some F/A-18s or Su-35s are available for multirole purposes. F-5Es as Third-line Me-262 esque units.
A-7s as main bombers. ARES Scaled Composite and some Su-25/A-10s are available as shell spotting/cheap daytime attack aircraft and replacement for dauntlesses. ADCAP Prowlers complete the torpedo bomber set. E-1/E-2s and Fairey AEW3s available. Apaches. Mi-28s and some SH-60s are also carried. Total capacity runs into the 400+ but the full potential of that can only be accessed when transformed.
Radar is unknown. But the large set is likely to be the Nebo-M series meant for a idea of where threats are. like giant formations or fast moving SR-71 esque threats. followed by a RAN-40L and the SPS-67 and multiple SPG-60s. Some Engagement Zhuk-Ms and a bunch of other systems (such as a malfunctioning APAR set for example) also come along as well as standard ASDIC.

Sorry if Chapter 2 still hasn't officially begin. as of the moment however I am hesitating a LOT, I am still so torn apart between my choices with Z35. Z21. Des Moines. Gridley. Gearing and so on and forth of what my official transformation outfit will be like and I still haven't gotten a review so far to vote (of influence) on who I should be yet. And yes, I will have some novel tech coming with me in some of the choices. That includes Electrothermal chemical of Combustion Light-gas guns. UAVs (Spotter) Towed Sonar. Acoustic torpedoes and so on.
To this end, I am deciding between the F-5E as the baseline. the F-20 of the F-16 or either the MiG-29 (SMT variant. Zhuk) though I've mostly settled on the A-4 of A-7/Possibly the A-10 and EA-6 ADCAPs (I really like Prowlers, don't I?) as my Dive bomber and Torpedo/ASW aircraft along with at least 8 AH-64s/Mi-28Ns and a flight of SH-60s as well as maybe a 8-unit of E-1 tracers (What I gain in fighter RADAR I lose by exchanging E-2s for E-1s.)
Some of the choices have their own strengths, I am imagining me as Des moines would have one turret as a CLGG gun. trading rate of fire and accuracy in exchange for extreme range plus AA ability with Saboted shells from the USN railgun project and if equipped with radar-homing shells. as a battleship/carrier buster along with ALARM missiles. Gridley would likely focus on being a SPY/MF-STAR platform along with extremely strong short-range AAA in the form of 35mm AHEAD guns and 40mm P rounds.
Gearing would be just... a stronger Gridley-me with a 76mm Oto mount. Z35 is likely to have me as a guided shell and AIM-54/Soviet supersonic missile user (tearing apart the vanguard) along with formidable AAA (Somewhat weaker than Gridley) in the form of M230s on GCM mounts and Z21 is a slightly weaker Z35. Des moines has the highest plane capacity followed by Gearing/Z35 respectively.
Again, Leave your choice in the review before chapter 2 of the story officially begins. I am still so stuck and hesitant about my self-insert character selection and the story won't officially go on until this hesitation of mine is broken by votes! (No, seriously. Don't encourage me to destroy my mind while I am in a Homura-esque outfit, It never works out well for the world)
And yes. Fics will still be posted at some point, As of the moment however I feel less cheerful. Which when combined with me being restless over Black Shift means I will focus on Purple Shift for now. Pr0nz is also similarly delayed for this reason. Although Azur Lane Sea StrikerS:YOU MUST (NOT) SEQUENCE will still get a end.

I've been planning this out with a friend ever since the start of the year, However seeing as they got delayed countless times. I decided to make a standalone version of this just recently as Purple Shift. Basically the standalone version of Black shift (Level One demo can be found on my list of fics featuring Amazon and Z35) with no co-op.
Update as of 6/6/2021:Still not officially started yet, Check chapter 2 and the end of C1.
Update as of 6/7/2021:The first votes have came in! SynchroRegis thinks I should be U-47 of Graf zeppelin of Zuikaku (Preferring U-47 for wanting her to have more stories) while gamertalker wants me to be Enterprise instead. which is kinda funny if a bit poetic seeing as Black shift was going to have my friend as Enterprise. Since I can't really merge Graf's of U-47's mindset well with mine's and as It be too awkward as Zui-zui. The vote count is so far...

Quick update (same time as above):I just realized Bataan is also a option, I remember pioneering Magical Shipgirls with someone before in a roleplay. And Barakiel was pretty much a Siren Bataan and I even had a image of her transformation outfit and description of her personality. So it looks like Bataan is also a potential choice now (A weaker Enterprise but with stronger spells at the start and much stronger magical potential to the point of Al-hazard/Mini-mirror seas reality warping)
Update on late 6/7/2021:It seems a vote for Z35 has also went up by Mrjamicide for the reason 'honestly, z35 seems the best choice. no one would expect a fuckton of missiles to come out of no where'. So it seems that with Z35 and Enterprise both having (1). This may be a tie! If its Z35, though. Well. here we go again with Black shift, just without a friend.

Update on 6/11/2021:Well. I've mostly made up my mind on enterprise (I still think you guys want me to suffer as enterprise or worse, see me get corrupted and turn into a red-eyed Dark Magical girl), I've started considering Vita of Reinforce Eins as my partner. though! (Check chapter 5 for owner's manual) Hint in C5:Select Vita if you want me to be Little enterprise of Reinforce eins to just make me even more of a stoic badass than i am now.

I have a wide diversity, especially with your idea: I'm especially interested in a shipgirl turned rogue and (Omitted) to the true identity of the world. It's an interesting idea to see what would a shipgirl do if she defected to the other side.
I say USS Gearing. I think we'd had a lot of Ironblood and Royal fanfics tbh, it would also interesting to see her be related to Enty, maybe?'
While this is Enterprise for now. It seems i may have to make a parallel PURPLE SHIFT story featuring me as Gearing once the story officially begins...
Update as of 6/13/2021:Vita is at 2 points so far. but Reinforce is now at 3 because the other site have their own reasons for my partner to be Eins. I still haven't made up my mind though and both do appeal to me!

Being loathed as a traitor as Enterprise is very interesting storyline as it could potentially affect relations between Eagle Union and Sakura Empire(Sakura being full of rivals and plotters and Eagle Union, still shocked by the betrayal of it's most prized hero, might force both to work together or even cause flashpoints between the two. perhaps Eagle Union is the one to launch a surprise attack instead of Sakura). perhaps Eagle Union shipgirls try to convince Enterprise to come back, or maybe it garners sympathy towards your cause, i just see so much variety and diverting paths here, that, and the already experienced planes she'd have, combined with a willpower unrivaled by others. maybe Iron Blood and Royal Navy take interest, for good or ill.
P.S. i'm going to stay out the clothes look stuff as I don't have a big imagination other than the way a story could go or background stuff.
P.S.S. what type of universe is this going to take place in? Iron Blood and Sakura at least in the anime, worked alongside the sirens for numerous reasons.

I guess it should be obvious at this point, But seeing as Black shift was going to be to see what happens when you give a angsty boy who loves to send gay pr0nz to homophobics and look at closeted lolicons (Australian politicians!) a KANSEN body. It will be the darker counterpart to Tricolore of the Stars. with lots of fighting, Covert attacks/Terrorist attacks (Azur lane's POV) on schools. Power grids and infrastructure of airports of ports alike. Corruption. Mindbreaks. sadism. torture, Dark Magical Girl personas. Lots of killing (be it vengeful of for the giggles alone) and possible character deaths (such as pulling off a dick-move like lobbing a LGB onto the commander's building) Misuse of 'heroic' Magical girl abilities to inflict pain. unknown happy ending Dead-space style. Romantic options with Observer Alpha of the other siren girls. Total disregard for the geneva conventions. torture and far more!
