Now that this website's bugs are fixed, I can release this story. I also released another story called "A Canary's Tutelage" which I think is falling under people's radar because of the website malfunction, so be sure to check that one out.
This story will show various versions of the Green Arrow in the Arrowverse Multiverse, there will be a different Emerald Archer and show their backstories in each chapter. Some we already know about and others are from my own imagination.
Starling City, Sherwood Storage Units, Night, Earth 2
Getting out of his police car, Police Captain Ricardo Diaz rushed to his private storage unit to meet up with his men. A dozen of his men were still with him, fortunately, they were some of the best; from his days as a Lieutenant in the SCPD's S.W.A.T. unit. "Is this everyone?" Diaz asked his men as they were standing in the hallway.
"Are you alright, Captain?" One of the officers asked
It was a fair question to ask. Diaz had cuts on his face and was still blood-stained, he was also out of breath from his drive here, and he had an arrow go through his shoulder which he pulled out earlier. "It was the Green Arrow." He admitted. "The ambush ... it was a complete disaster. He killed them all."
"That's not possible, the Anti-Vigilante Squad ... they can't all be dead, you trained them yourself." Another officer said but suddenly without warning, Diaz pinned the officer to the wall with his arm on the officer's throat.
"You think I'm a liar!" Diaz screamed as he accused him.
"Captain stop!" An officer pleaded.
"I shot him, three times with a 9mm hollow-point. And he didn't go down!" He yelled in explanation. "I didn't want to believe it ... but it's true. He's not human. He's stronger than you can imagine!"
"Smarter too." A distorted voice said, coming from the end of the hallway. It was the Green Arrow, just standing there with his recurve bow in hand. "At the very least smarter than you. Ricardo Diaz, you have failed this city!" He addressed Diaz.
Not hesitating, the S.W.A.T. unit opened fire on the vigilante with their sidearms, but the Green Arrow immediately took cover to the corner wall next to him. The barrage of bullets continued for several moments until the gunfire died down enough for the archer to move from his cover and take his shot to destroy the lightbulb in the hallway causing the room to darken. With the dirty cops' vision darkened, the Green Arrow quickly moved forward. One of the cops charged him, but the Green Arrow just delivered a swift and strong push kick that sent the cop flying; knocking down some of his brothers in blue including Diaz. As some got to their feet, the vigilante then grabbed one by his head and slammed it against the wall; killing him instantly. As the bowman continued this action, deflecting his enemies' attempts to stop him with his bow. Diaz managed to get to his feet and fleed.
Busting out of the door, Diaz continued to run but then an arrow flew by his head. Diaz knew instantly that this Robin Hood wannabe was a solid marksman and that he could have killed him at the moment but he didn't; the bastard was taunting him. "You ... how'd you find me?" Diaz asked barely containing his anger.
"The arrow I shot you with earlier had a tracker in it." The Green Arrow answered.
"You ... you let me go." Diaz realized. "You wanted me to lead you to my men, so that kill us all!" He shouted.
"Just as you deserve." The Green Arrow said plainly. "The SCPD is corrupted and you're a big cause of it. Your S.W.A.T. unit is nothing but a death squad but with them gone and you about to follow, Lieutenant Hall can start cleaning up the mess you left behind."
"Hall?" Diaz said with a chuckled amusement, as he knew he was referring to McKenna Hall. "Figures. Didn't think she had the stones for something like this."
"She doesn't know anything about this and even if she did ... she would never be apart of this." The Green Arrow admitted as everything he still knows about McKenna to be a good person to be true, even if she was a bit of partier with his son when she younger.
Not wasting time, Diaz drew his sidearm and opened fire. Avoiding the gunshots by ducking and rolling in front of him, while simultaneously throwing a flechette to disarming him. Moving fast, Diaz pulled out a Glock 43 from his ankle holsters and shot the archer once in the chest, while the second shot went through his right arm as he grabbed a hold of the corrupt policeman. Punching him hard in the chest with his bow in hand pushed Diaz back a few feet. Falling to his knees again, Diaz coughed up in pain as he felt like he had been hit by a battering ram. Regaining his composure, Diaz got up and delivered of series of punches and kicks that the Green Arrow blocked effortlessly. In his mind, the vigilante acknowledged that Ricardo Diaz was skilled. His martial arts background, his time in S.W.A.T., leading and training the Anti-Vigilante Squad was apparent, but so was he; additionally, he was stronger and faster than Diaz could ever possibly be. Seeing an opening, he kicked the Police Captain in his knee with a sidekick causing him to kneel with one foot, and immediately he grabbed Diaz by the throat and lifted him in the air with one hand. Struggling to break free, Diaz struggled to gasp for breath but using all his strength, the Green Arrow crushed his neck, and Ricardo Diaz fell dead to the ground.
Standing over his dead enemy, the archer then heard and felt the three bullets being fired into his back causing him to fall to his knees. Grabbing an arrow from his quiver, he notched and fired it disarming the last remaining S.W.A.T. officer of his weapon; the officer still in pain from his injuries fell down in pain and in fear. Back on his feet and moving to his prey, the Green Arrow grabbed him by the shirt and held him against the wall. "If you think that I didn't know that you were alive, your wrong. I wanted you to live so that you know the rumors about me are true. I am not ... human ... I am a monster, who hunts other monsters like your late Captain." The Green Arrow said to intimidate him, knowing that it was working. "You will tell them this won't you?" He asked.
"Yes, yes I will tell them." The cop said fearfully and the Green Arrow let him go but then swiftly took hold of his right and crushed it, causing the corrupt cop to scream agony.
"That's so you remember." The bowman stated and turned to take his leave.
Undisclosed Safe House
Entering one of his safehouses, the Green Arrow walked down the staircases and unstrapped his quiver letting it fall off of him. Putting his bow on the nearby table, he unzipped his suit in front of the mirror and stared at himself: at the man who was once Robert Queen. Using the mirror, Robert began the process of removing the bullets from his chest; he was shot 4 times in the chest tonight but only two managed to break through the kevlar of his suit, they had pierced his skin and were impeded in his chest but the damage was only superficial. After removing the one from his arm and checking to see if he had to remove any from his back, which he thankfully did not, he sat down and looked at himself in the mirror. The Mirakuru had bestowed Robert with many gifts but the one he had come to appreciate the most was the youth and vitality it had given him. He was almost 60 now, yet the Mirakuru's regenerative abilities gave him the physical prowess of a much younger man. Though even a younger man wouldn't have his strength, his speed, or his reflexes. And yet, despite all the many advantages the serum at given him; he had to remind himself of the costly disadvantages, the rage that it gave him.
Moving himself to the table, Robert began grinding up herbs and ingested them. Taking a seat on the floor in an "on the stool position", Robert began to meditate. Before he came back to Starling City, Robert sought to find a way to control the violent urges that he was now plagued. Through a combination of herbs and meditative exercises, Robert could better calm himself and focus his mind; preventing him from killing someone he did not intend to kill. But even as he tried to calm his mind, memories continued to haunt him. For all his anger did not just come from the Mirakuru but his own anguish and pain.
Robert could still remember rescuing his son, Oliver, from the ocean when the Queen's Gambit went down. How they drifted in the sea for days alongside, Robert's personal bodyguard, David Hackett. Slowly but surely, Robert became painfully aware that they were running low on food and water; enough for maybe one person but still Robert knew what had to happen and God forgive him for it. Robert told Oliver, to make it home to atone for his sins, but suddenly before Robert knew what was happening; Hackett drew his pistol startling both the Queen men. Desperate and hungry, Hackett also had a son that he wanted to get home to and apologized as he was about to kill him and Oliver. But as he fired, Oliver took the bullet for his father; even though he weak from hunger, his son managed to save him. In that moment of surprise, Robert tackled Hackett causing him to lose his gun. Hackett managed to push Robert off of him but Robert then took out his own pistol and shot his bodyguard causing him to fall into the ocean.
Moving over to his son, Robert cradled him in his arms. Telling him that he was going to be alright as Oliver began bleeding out, he knew that his son wasn't going to make it ... and yet he told him to hold on anyway. Starting to cry, Robert continued to plead for his son to live; to be a better man than he was because in a lot of ways he already was. Oliver told his father that whatever sins he had committed, whatever wrongs he had done, only he could make up for them now. That only he could save their city now. Struggling to breathe, Oliver managed to tell his father he loved him ... and then finally succumbed to his wounds. For the briefest of moments, Robert swore that he went deaf. Like the whole world had just become silent ... but the noise eventually returned and the silence had been replaced by the tears of a parent who had just lost their child ... by a father who lost his son.
Coming out of his trance, Robert looked and saw that it was morning. As got to his feet from the mat, Robert wasn't even surprised that his injuries were gone as if they never even existed. But even so, he had to remind himself of something today. Going to his crate of personal items that he acquired during his time in hell, Robert looked at what he felt was the most important to him ... as a reminder of what he could eventually become if he let the Mirakuru consume and destroy him; the balaclava of his late friend and teacher, Slade Wilson. He could still remember how serum made Slade lose his mind, how it made him attack Robert and Shado, his only two friends on the island. It had been years since that day, but Robert still regretted what had happened. How with Ivo's cure destroyed, the only option that he had left was to take the Mirakuru himself to match Slade's abilities in order to kill him. He had lost count of how many times he had stabbed Slade in the face with his quiver of arrows ... and he could never forget what Slade's face looked like once he finished stabbing him.
Closing his eyes, Robert put the tattered mask away and got dressed in a black hoodie to get breakfast. As far as the rest of the world was concerned Robert Queen was still dead ... and in a way he was. Starling City didn't need the man who had turned it into a corrupt city filled with criminal filth. Even, his family did not need him anymore. His wife, Moira, remarried and his daughter, Thea, had a new stepfather; something that Robert was happy to have learned. He was a terrible husband to Moira, with his countless extramarital affairs; he should've had the decency and the courage to give her a divorce even if it would have cost them both. In the end, they were better off without him. Starling City didn't need Robert Queen the man who failed it, it needed the Green Arrow, the man who had promised his dying son that he would save their city no matter what.
Author's Notes: Since Flash 2x05, we got a brief tease that Robert Queen was The Arrow of Earth 2 and since then I was looking forward to the day that Oliver and Thea would meet their father's doppelganger. Arrow obviously retcon this and made Adrian Chase Earth 2's Emerald Archer, which I didn't mind much but I would've like to see Oliver and his father's doppelganger met. If Arrow didn't completely retcon this and Robert was still a vigilante, I would've like to see how the Hood went from Robert to Adrian.
My motivation for Robert having the Mirakuru in his system is because if Robert would've lived in this new world, he would be in his fifties or sixties and it would be very hard for him to continue to be a vigilante at that point; though I acknowledge others have done so. But mostly I did it because the Mirakuru combined with the similar training that Robert would have to Oliver's would make this Green Arrow a beast in my opinion. Additionally, Robert tries very hard to control and not let it warp his mind, like the Mirakuru's done to Slade and Roy; which would make his struggles to control it very impressive.
Side Note: What did you think about Ricardo Diaz as a corrupt Police Captain instead of a wannabe Wilson Fisk, as I have this idea for a story about rewriting Diaz as a corrupt Police Captain leading SCPD against Star City's vigilantes as a more brutal and ruthless version of Quentin Lance; his motivation being to end vigilantism in Star City for good. Anyway, it's just a thought.
