Chapter 10

I tossed and turned all night. I couldn't get even a small wink of sleep. I got out of bed and entered my parents room. I gently tapped my mom's shoulder as she slept.

"Mmm...what is Char?"

Dad rolled over.

"Hm?" He mumbled and fell back asleep.

I tapped her again. She gasped.

"Bryan!" She whispered loudly. She picked up her phone and tapped it.

"Hun, it's three in the morning...what's going on?"

"I need to talk to you."

She got out of bed and put on her robe. We then sat next to each other on the couch in the living room.

"Your sugar okay?"

"It's fine..."

"What's going on Bry?"

I sighed and looked at my feet.

"Hm?"

She propped her elbow up on the back of the couch and pressed her fist to her temple. With her other hand she ran her fingers through my hair.

"I...It's about Carly."

"What about her sweetie?"

"She...she manipulates me Mom."

Mom glared at me with a very concern look.

"Well you remember what I told you...you need to break up with her...prolonging it is only going to make it worse."

"I know...but-"

"But?"

"I...I don't think I can just break her heart...I've never broken anyone's heart before."

"There's no way around it...there's just no help for it Bryan...these things happen...it's never easy to do...for anybody...but sometimes it has to be done..."

"But I keep thinking I'm wrong."

"Wrong about what?"

"Okay look...so I buy her things...so she wants me to flirt with her more...so she had made drink a milkshake I told her I couldn't have...maybe she just does what she does because I'm not doing the right things...maybe she should breakup with me...like I'm a bad boyfriend or something.

"Son, you're not a bad boyfriend...trust me...Carly might try to make you think you are but you-"

"She wants sex...she practically told me she wants to have sex with me."

"Well just because you don't want to sleep with her doesn't mean you're a bad boyfriend."

"Maybe it does though...she expects it from me."

"So? You do NOT have to give it to her...that's not love...that's not what a girlfriend should want."

"But I've never had sex before Momma? And part of me wants too."

"Hm...maybe this is a conversation you need to have with your Dad."

She left me for a little bit. Dad came back with her. He yawned and sat in the recliner.

"What's going on?" He asked tiredly.

"Charlie, Bryan's girlfriend Carly is wanting to have sex with him..according to him she practically asked for it."

"And you? You said yes Bry?"

"No...I didn't want too...but I...thought about it and I do."

Dad sighed.

"I see...Har...could you give us a minute."

"Mm-hm."

Mom left the living room again. Dad sat up in the chair and looked at me very cautiously.

"Going back I don't know about two years ago, you remember what I told you about your desires?"

I nodded.

"What did I say?"

"That...that...something about it being high in pleasure?"

"I said Bry, that intimacy is the highest form of pleasure between two people. Our desires and what we want is something completely different. Something you shouldn't act on upon. Sex is something you both should want. It's like a commitment you both agree too."

"Well she wants it...and I think I do too."

"She knows she wants it son, you just think you do...you have a lot of raging hormones that are all over the place. You should take the time to build self-discipline and self control. And exercise that control so you don't feel your desires as often."

I sighed.

"Unless...look at me son."

I looked up at Dad.

"Do you really love Carly? I mean really love her?

"I...I don't understand."

"Did you love Rosie?"

"I...Sure I did Dad, but I miss her and I know she's never coming back!"

"We still don't know that...but settling for Carly...just using Carly to stimulate and calm your inner desires for Rosie is not going to calm you...and what did I tell you about girls?"

"Girls are glass."

"That's right...you have sex with Carly...and just drop her afterwards just because you needed an out for your desires is going to shatter her...even though you would be giving her what she wants...you can't toy with people's emotions like that Bry."

"Harvey sleeps with lots of girls."

"You're not Harvey...that's not who you are...you see the way I treat your mother...everytime I feel my desires I don't push myself on her do I?"

I shook my head.

"Agressive girls are going to come into your life son...they'll make you feel and think all kinds of things...but I know you still love Rosie...which is why you dating Carly has bothered your mom and me. But son if you just need something to help your desires there are other things you can do. You don't have to subject yourself to her. I know you respect girls...I know you respect your mother. But you have to have respect for yourself too."

"I...I didn't want to upset Carly...she's Lola's best friend...and Lola is Harvey's girlfriend...I feel I'll just mess everything up if I don't stay with her...and if I have to stay with her I want something out of it."

"And that's the wrong way to think son..."

"I...I just feel overwhelmed and so much pressure is on me!"

"I'm not pressuring you! Your mom's not pressuring you! How about this...think of Rosie...what do you think she'd think of all this?"

"I don't know and I don't care she left me and she is never coming back, and you are too pressuring me! You and everybody! I don't give a damn what anybody says!"

I got up and went to my room.

"Hey!" My dad yelled after me.

I slammed the door in his face.

"Bryan Jay you open this door!"

I slid down the other side holding my head. I wanted my vision of Rosie to be true. But no matter what I did I couldn't stop thinking that Rosie was gone for good. She's the only girl I've ever loved. I miss her so freaking bad. No one has even given me the time to take a moment, and process that we left her behind. She was taken from me so quickly. It was like she was here in my life one minute and gone the next. Everything feels like empty promises, and my heart is so broken. All of a sudden I'm this lone hero doing what others want me to do, instead of me doing what I wanted to do.

"Bryan...sweetheart open the door please..." Mom begged.

I feel like maybe I'm trying to get back at Rosie for staying on her homeworld...I shouldn't, but I feel so betrayed...used...and alone. I can't handle all of this stress and built up emotion by myself. I feel like my heart's been ripped out.

"Bry its Anna, open the door." I heard my sister's voice say.

"Yeah." Isabella said after.

"Please." Mira spoke out.

"Bryan honey...let me in...I know what you need...and what needs to be done. Please."

My mother's words fell on my ears and into my broken heart. I sniffled and got up to open the door. I saw my family standing in the hall.

"Mom..."

I hugged her. She held me tightly. She then teleported the both of us back to Rosie's homeworld. I gasped when we arrived. It was so different than the last time I was there. The sky was now a bright shade of blue, the land evergreen. They even had several rolling streams of water that they didn't have before. It was no longer dark or dead. They had restored their planet.

"You didn't even get to tell her goodbye...and this way you can. Now you can know for sure when and if she is coming home."

I smiled shyly at mom with tears in my eyes.

"Go on now."

I nodded and ran for the fortress. I ran almost tripping in the court yard. I entered the familiar throne room through the large stone doors. Upon entering I saw King Leo talking with a few of his guards. In a chair next to him sat Rosie. She stood when she saw me.

"Bryan?"

"Rosie..."

She was in her human form wearing a satin sparkly green glitter dress; that was floor length. Her aurburn hair was curly and reached her waist. On her head a tiara. That same rose bound tiara I saw in my vision. She picked up her dress and ran over to me. When she got there she embraced me, and hugged me around the neck. Her scent. Her warmth. Everything came flooding back. Like my spirit lifted and the other half of my heart returned.

When she let me go a man in a green suit walked over to us.

"Rosmarinus? Is this the savior of your world?" He asked.

"Yes it is...Bryan of Earth...Bryan this is Ambassador Zelroth from our sister planet. He's a hybrid osmosian methanosian."

"Pleasure meeting with you...Rosmarinus and her people are very grateful to you."

"Thanks."

He shook my hand.

"I believe it is custom on Earth to say hello with a handshake...yes?"

I nodded.

"How do you know Rosie?"

"Well her planet and my planet are looking to create a separate planet. One where we can all live in harmony. Our rulers have talked about it for millions of years. I decided to see what had become of the sitution after the Lunai invasion...and to make sure the King and the royal family were alright...it saddened me to hear of the queen's passing. Lucky for me Rosmarinus survived as I thought she would; given how strong she is."

Rosie looked down.

"And...we are betrothed Bryan..." Rosie replied somberly.
