Chapter 13

The March of 7 Continents

"Alpha, you should probably go and get some rest." Wave said to me.

"Thanks, but I'm fine." I replied.

"You sure? We're going into a different time zone."

"General," Nicole appeared on the holo-table. "I'm getting messages from Resistance fighters all over the world, they want to join the fight!"

"Tell their superiors that, they're support is welcome and to meet us at Ayers Rock." I replied.

"Yes sir, also they're placing themselves under your command."

"Good to know." I replied.

"General," Wave spoke. "I know you said you were fine, but it will still be about an hour or so before we reach Ayers Rock. I really think it would be in your best interest if you got some rest." I pondered for a minute.

"Very well. Let me know when we arrive." I was then escorted to my quarters, where I found my belongings waiting for me. I took off my sword and placed it on the floor next to the bed. I then sat down on the bed and opened my camo-colored storage chest. One the top I found a photo of Wolf Squadron that was taken when I was in command.

"I wonder how this got here?" I spoke to myself. I then flipped the photo and found a note written on the back.

I want you to know how proud I am of how much you've grown, and that myself and the squad will follow you to the ends of the earth and back. I love you. -Beta

I then placed the photo back into the chest. I then took off my boots and laid on the bed, and fell asleep shortly.

The next thing I remembered I was woken up by a knock on the door of my quarters.

"Come in." I spoke. A male grey cat with green eyes wearing a camo uniform entered.

"The Admiral wishes you to come to the bridge immediately." He spoke.

"Understood." He then closed the door. I then proceeded to put my boots back on when I noticed a desert camo-uniform in my chest with the name Wolf on the shirt. I decided to change into that uniform since I would be heading down into battle. I then made my way back to the bridge where Wave was waiting for me.

"I see you changed into a different uniform." She chuckled.

"I figured I needed a fresh look." I then look at the screen in shock as I saw hundreds of ships coming from every direction, and shuttles and drop ships with tanks and all sorts of vehicles swarming the area.

"We got millions of men and women from every continent joining us, with enough ships to surround the entire rock." I then saw the silhouette of the tower, with slots and rings attached to it making it look like a sculpture. "You might want to get to a shuttle."

"No need, I'll fly down." I then made my way to the nearest air lock. I then went through the first door into a small narrow corridor. The second door opened automatically; I was then shot out of the air lock and started falling, I then started to fly towards Ayers Rock. I was surrounded by a swarm of shuttles and aircraft. I saw a pilot signaling me to follow him. I then turned on my scouter.

"Silver do you read me?"

"Loud and clear. You on your way over?" Silver asked.

"Affirmative. I should be down in no time." I turned off the scouter again. As I flew closer to the monolith, at could see a large ring of soldiers and vehicles that fallowed the edge of Ayers Rock. I could here soldiers cheering as I got close to the ground. I then saw Silver in the air waving towards me. As a flew towards him he descended back down to the ground. By the time I landed I was 2 feet in front of him, and surround by a crowd of soldiers.

"So, what have we got?" I asked.

Fang appeared from the crowd. "With the amount of man power we've got. We're going to march towards the base, and have a row of caterpillar tanks lead the way." He then pointed at a row of tanks. They had two sets of tracks and a large turret on the top. "Those things can go on any terrain."

"Very good." I nodded.

'General." I heard a male voice speak behind me. I turned around, and I was stunned at the sight of Knuckles saluting me. The same echidna that I took command from, and sent down to the bottom of the ranks.

"Knuckles," I saluted back, still a little shocked. "What brings you here?" He tilted his head downward and took a deep breath, the then looked back at me with the eyes of a guilty child, "I just came over to say," He pause, "I'm sorry for what happened back in Metropolis, and also I think you were a much better leader then I was." I extended his arms and slowly spun around, "You managed to gather soldiers from every continent on Mobius to join together."

"I'm glad to see you harbor no ill will." I replied. I then noticed Beta along with the rest of Wolf Squadron gathered next to an ATV with a cab and a turret on a flatbed. "Thank you." I then squeezed my way through the crowd of soldiers, until I was closes enough to hear them laughing. Kai, Claw, and Scotty were sitting in the flatbed behind the mounted machine gun, while the twins Gadget and Gizmo were leaning on the passenger door of the cab, Gadget then noticed me approaching and stood upright quick as a flash.

"Heads up, General's here." They all stood up and saluted me.

"You boys ready for the fight of your lives." I smirked.

"Sir, yes sir!" They all shouted. I chuckled a little but stopped as soon as I saw Beta coming around the truck and towards me.

"I see you changed uniforms." She smiled.

"I got your note. Thank you." I replied.

"It's nothing." She turned away sheepishly, she then looked at the tower; I did the same, the sun was just about setting behind it. "It's hard to believe that we're finally near the end."

"Yeah," I felt a wave of sadness and nervous overtake me. I then looked at her. Her green eyes glinted in the evening light. "Beta, if anything hap-"

"Don't." She blurted, grabbing my hand. "I don't want to think I'm going to lose you." The then wrapped her arms around me and gave me a long kiss. "I'll see you when we win the war."

"Awwwww." I turned and saw the squad leading against the truck, watching us.

"Alright you hopeless romantics you had your fun." I spoke. I then climbed up the nose of the truck all the way up to the roof. "Nicole, transmit and translate to all soldiers."

"Certainly." She replied.

"Attention, Attention!" I shouted, my voice echoing from everyone's coms, silence spread throughout the area. "Soldiers, marines, and airmen of every continent here. Today, we embark on the finale crusade to bring in end to the tyrannic dictatorial juggernaut that is the Eggman Empire. For many months, he has robbed our freedom, overturned our governments, destroyed our homes, and spilled the blood of millions of innocent people. But we have remained strong, because despite Eggman's attempted to suppress us, our spirit has grown more than ever. So much that for the first time in history, men and women from every continent in the world have gathered, not as enemies, but as allies. So may we march forth showing the Empire that even though we are diverse in species, culture, and color. We are united, AS ONE PEOPLE!" A loud cheer erupted throughout the entire mountain. A cheer the sounded like it could be heard 100 miles. I flew into the air and raised my sword. "FOR MOBIUS!" The cheer grew even louder. As I lowered, and landed in the flatbed of the truck with Kai, Scotty, Claw and the twins. down the tanks at the front of the crowd started moving forward, along with all the other vehicles. I then heard the United States national anthem being sung by Wolf Squad; more would join until almost all of the US soldiers were singing along.

Oh, say can you see, by the dawns early light,

What so proudly we hail, at the twilights last gleaming.

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, though the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watch, were so gallantly streaming.

And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave.

O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Another cheer erupted, which would be followed by the sound of soldiers in the distance singing in a different language.

"That's the Russian National Anthem. I can tell by the melody." Scotty spoke.

"Ah, let them sing." I said. "God knows it's been a long time since they had something to be proud of." The Russians were not the only ones to do the same. During our march, soldiers from all sorts of nations would sing their nation anthems during our march, it put a tear in my eye seeing such unity, arising form such a dark period, one I hope will last.
