Author's Note: For the sake of fanfiction, Nate and Lily never existed. Doug is going to appear later in the story. This will be a multi-chapter story, not sure how many though. The Latin used may not be exact, but I tried. This sort of wrote itself. After not writing DWP for almost two years, I am back!
And for those who are wondering, I will be reposting my older DWP fics in the near future.
To the wonderful peeps at the DWP Facebook group, this one is for you!Enjoy!
Several months ago, Andy made the biggest mistake of her life. She left Miranda in Paris. She was scared to death, scared of ending up heartbroken. She was scared because this was all new to her, she didn't know what to expect.
Andrea's family disowned her shortly before Paris when she came out to them. Since that happened, she had called her bestfriend Doug, and the Runway crew her family. One that consisted of Nigel, Emily, Serena, Roy, and that naturally and unknowingly, included Miranda, her twins, and the big floof named Patricia.
Andy decided to call the closest person she had to a best friend aside from Doug. She called Nigel who was the Creative Art Director for Runway, who she also considered her 'Fairy Godfather' after her game changing makeover. After making Nigel promise not to say a word to Miranda, she told him everything

*ring, ring*
"This is Nigel."
"Hey, Nige..." she trailed off with a sniffle.
"You've been crying. What's up, buttercup?"
Her voice was slightly shaky as she answered, "Paris. Seven months... An- and I still can't shake away the thoughts that I love her. That I left her during the busiest week of the year, when she needed me the most."
The line was momentarily silent as he pondered over what to say to his friend. "Have you tried contacting her and explaining why you left?"
"No. I haven't because I can't have my heart be evicerated just because I love her, because she is as straight as a pin and could ne-never love me back."
"Six, you do know Miranda is unpredictable, right? Sh-..."
"Ca... Can you pass her a message?"
Suddenly, Nigel was struck with a brilliant idea. "No, Six. But, I do have an idea."
It was one that would work if, and only if, Andy agreed to it. She did agree to it, although she was reluctant to do so.

Andy had arrived on time, to meet Nigel in the Closet. It was time to put his plan into action. The plan was for Andy to take the place as Nigel's plus one, to the annual Runway Gala. Miranda would look at her with, as Nigel called it, heart eyes. After taking in the way Andy looked, Miranda would ask her to dance, and once they finished dancing, Miranda would bring her to the townhouse. They would declare their 'unrequited' love for each other, and then spend the night tangled up in the sheets of Miranda's bed. It wasn't by any means foolproof, but it would have to work.
They were in the closet looking for a cerulean colored, one shouldered, A-line gown. It was a gown that was designed and sewn by Miranda, and the funny thing is, no one would expect the fact that Miranda could design and sew clothing. However, it was those two things that gave her a jumpstart into the fashion industry.
"Why are we looking thru these dresses that are hidden here in the back?"
"Well, Six... Miranda designed and handcrafted a beautiful one shoulder gown with you in mind- by the way, don't tell her I told you that secret. Anyway, we dress you in that for the gala and Miranda is sure to ravish you with her eyes. Or, something else later on."
"Cheeky. Is everything else in place? Do you think she'll be angry with me?..."
Andy's nervous rambling was cut off by Nigel. "Yes, everything is set in place. And you know as well as I do, there's no telling what goes on in that enigmatic mind of hers."
All of a sudden, they heard the doors of the closet open, and a soft voice call out, "Nigel, are you in there?"
Nigel placed his hand on Andy's shoulder and gently pushed her to a darker area of the room, behind a rack of floor length dresses. "Now don't make a sound, unless you want to be seen or heard."
Andy just rolled her eyes and said, "Yes, boss," doing just as he told her to.
Miranda came next to Nigel and sat down on a stool. "Got time?"
"Always for you, babe."
Miranda brushed her hair out of her face and sighed. "You know this is the first time in twenty-five years, that I haven't wanted to go to the gala?" She chuckled dryly before she continued, "I wish to take Andréa as my date. I can't, though."
Nigel raised an eyebrow, despite already knowing why she supposedly can't take th on a date. "What makes you think you can't?"
"For starters," the editor mumbled, "Andréa is almost twenty years younger than I. She couldn't possibly want to be tied down to a forty-eight year old, career obsessed, mother of twin terrors and a massive floof of a dog. Who in their right minds would want to be with La Priestly?"
That was it. Andy couldn't stand to be quiet and listen to the woman she loved, fret over being loved by her.
Stepping away from the spot she was hiding in, Andy spoke in a soft tone, "There's a Latin saying, 'mens regnum bona possidet- an honest heart is a kingdom in itself' and.." trailing off, she swallowed thickly, willing tears not to fall. "My heart is an honest kingdom, and if you find yourself willing to, Miranda, I'd like for you to be it's Queen."
The Closet became so silent you could have heard a pin drop. Miranda was stunned to the point of speechlessness. Never in her life had someone made such a truthful declaration of love to her, let alone one spoken with a fierce conviction.
Unfortunately, Andrea took the silence from the editor as one that meant she was uncomfortable. With so many emotions running thru her mind, she did the first thing she could think of. She ran from the room.

Nigel was worried about his best friends. One was seemingly heartbroken, while the other was being an idiot. "God Damn it, Miranda! Don't just sit there like a fricken idiot, go find her!"
It took no time for the editor to bolt from the room. Miranda didn't mean to be speechless and for her Andréa to misinterpret her silence. Miranda wasn't sure where to look for her. She headed to the elevator with the intention of leaving the building to see if she could find her love. However, before she made it to the elevator, she heard sobbing from the stairwell. Now that she found Andrea, she intended to set the record straight and... Well, she wasn't sure what would happen after.
