Episode - Pups Save a Sniffle (disclaimer: the episode is from my point of view)

It was another sunny day in Adventure Bay. I was just pulling my truck out of my neighborhood when I saw Ryder, Rubble, and Rocky race past the intersection.

"Wow wonder where they're off to?" I thought.

Since I didn't see Marshall that meant he was still at the Lookout. Great! We could hang out and talk together!

I drove my truck onto the open road and towards the Lookout.

As I was driving towards the bridge I saw Katie outside her Pet Parlour.

She waved me down and I stopped my truck beside her.

"Hiya Katie." I said happily as I hopped out of my truck.

"Hi Adam." replied Katie. "I'm glad you saw me."

"Why?" I asked.

"Some of the pups are sick and Ryder asked me to help Marshall look after them." explained Katie.

I was surprised.

"Wow, do you think you and Marshall might need more help?" I asked. "Cause if Marshall needs more help, I'm there."

"Well Marshall and I might need a little extra help" replied Katie.

"Great, I can help with that." I said, "I can give you a lift if you want."

"Well that's why I waved you down," said Katie.

Katie hopped in the passenger seat of my truck while I got back in the driver's seat.

As I drove over the bridge I wondered something.

"Katie, do you think what the others have isn't too contagious?" I asked.

"Well colds are contagious Adam." she told me, "But I'm sure with you and me helping Marshall I'm sure everything will be fine."

"I hope you're right. I don't want Marshall getting sick or else we'll have our hands full." I said as we were approaching the Lookout.

"Don't worry Adam, we'll make sure they recover." replied Katie.

Soon we were at the Lookout.

As I opened the driver's door I noticed Chase, Zuma and Skye's pup houses were still at the Lookout including Marshall's.

"So Chase, Zuma, and Skye are the ones that are sick?" I asked as Katie got out of my truck.

"Yep." she said.

"I saw Ryder, Rubble, and Rocky earlier; it seemed they were heading toward the countryside." I told Katie as we walked toward the tower.

"Yeah they're off to help Farmer Al, his goose chased them into the woods." Katie told me.

"I hope they'll be alright if they were here earlier like you said colds are contagious." I said.

"Don't worry Adam they're with Ryder." reassured Katie.

"Ok well let's help Marshall with these sick pups." I said as Katie and I entered the Lookout.

We saw Marshall in his medical gear and the three sick pups in their puppy beds.

"Don't worry pups." reassured Marshall. "Katie will be here soon to help me take care of you."

Katie and I walked in.

Marshall saw us.

"Hi Katie!" cried Marshall.

Then Marshall saw me.

"Oh, Hi Adam." said Marshall as he ran up to me.

"Hey little buddy." I said as I knelt down and gently stroked his fur.

"What are you doing here?" asked Marshall.

"Katie saw me and she told me everything and I decided to come and help." I explained.

"Great!" exclaimed Marshall. "With your help, I'm sure we'll be fine taking care of Chase, Zuma, and Skye."

"Well let's get to it." said Katie.

Marshall, Katie and I walked over to the sick pups.

"Don't worry pups," said Marshall. "Katie is here and Adam is too."

"Hi Katie and Hi Adam." spluttered Skye.

"Hi guys." said Katie. "Don't worry Adam and I will help Marshall take care of you."

"Well first things first," said Marshall. "Let's get them something to help them feel better."

Katie, Marshall and I thought for a moment.

"Well chicken soup works well with colds." I said.

Marshall nodded.

"Well Adam's right." said Katie.

"I can make some chicken soup for Chase, Zuma, and Skye if you like." I offered.

"Good thinking Adam," said Marshall.

I ran off to start preparing the chicken soup.

I raced into the kitchen and tried to look for some things to make the chicken soup.

"Hmm how do you make chicken soup?" I thought.

"Hey Marshall, what are the ingredients in chicken soup?" I asked from the kitchen.

"Oh, there's a cookbook that tells you what you need." replied Marshall as he joined me in the kitchen.

"Well, where is it?" I asked.

"It's in one of those cabinets up there." replied Marshall.

We looked in one of the cabinets and there was no book.

Uh, maybe it's in that one." said Marshall.

Still no cookbook.

"Where did Ryder put it last? I asked because I didn't want to spend the next five minutes trying to find it.

Marshall pondered for a moment.

"Oh, I think it's over here." said Marshall as he walked over to a cupboard and opened it.

"Here it is." said Marshall gesturing his paw in the cupboard.

I knelt down and saw the cookbook in the cupboard Marshall opened.

"Good find Marshall." I said as I patted his head.

I took it out of the cupboard and set it on a counter.

Marshall hopped onto a stool I was standing by.

I opened the cover over the book and we looked in the index for chicken soup.

Marshall and me looked at the first page then I turned it to the next one.

"Here it is Marshall." I said pointing to it on page 3.

Marshall noticed what I was pointing at.

"Good find Adam." he exclaimed.

I turned the cookbook to page 7.

"Is this the right ingredients" I asked.

Marshall scanned the page.

"Yep, that's all of it." he said.

"Well let's get to it." I said to Marshall.

We soon got to work getting what we needed.

Marshall grabbed what he could from the stool he was sitting on.

Then we took turns reading from the book and putting in the ingredients.

"Ok now we need some carrots, cut them up and put them in the pot." said Marshall reading from the book and handing me some carrots with his mouth.

I cut up the carrots and put them in.

"Now we need rotisserie chicken." I said reading from the book.

"I think there's some in the refrigerator." said Marshall pointing his paw at the fridge.

I opened the fridge.

"It's in a bowl with a lid on it." explained Marshall.

I grabbed from one of the shelves and put it on the counter

Marshall grabbed a cutting board from some sheet pans.

"Here's a cutting board." he said, holding it in his mouth.

Marshall put it on the counter from where his stool was.

"And here are some forks to shred the chicken with,"I added.

"Hmm, we'll need to work together to shred this chicken," said Marshall.

"Yeah, you hold one fork and I'll shred with the other." I agreed.

Marshall nodded his head.

He picked one fork with his mouth and held on to the chicken with it while I shredded it.

After a minute of doing this we checked the book.

"It looks fine." I observed.

"Yep it does." agreed Marshall.

Then we put it in the pot with the rest of the ingredients." I said finishing reading from the book.

I put the shredded chicken in the pot with the rest of the ingredients then turned on the stove to have the soup start to cook.

"Ok let's let it cook for about an hour." said Marshall.

While it was cooking Marshall and I helped Katie get some things for the three sick pups.

Later we checked on the soup.

Marshall hopped onto his stool again so we could check it.

"Seems ready to me."I noticed.

"Yeah that should be enough." observed Marshall.

I turned the stove off and poured the finished chicken soup into Chase's pup bowl.

But as I poured the soup into Zuma's bowl it didn't fill all the way.

"Wait, that's not enough.? I said.

Marshall looked closer.

"We didn't make enough for all three pups," he said.

"I'll get some more chicken." I said.

"Well, I think that's all Ryder had." objected Marshall.

"Well let me see." I replied.

I opened the fridge again and I didn't see any more rotisserie chicken.

"Your right buddy." I said. "I don't see any carrots either."

"Uh oh." said Marshall. "We must've used the last ones making the chicken soup."

"Yeah we should tell Katie then I can go to the store and collect more ingredients and some extra supplies." I replied.

First I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen to write down the ingredients and I also wrote down what was in the cookbook.

"Well let's give Chase the chicken soup we already made," said Marshall.

"Yeah, good idea." I replied.

I took Chase's pup bowl out to the hangout area.

"Well here's Chase's soup Katie." I said as I gave it to Katie.

"Thank you Adam and you too Marshall." said Katie.

"And before you ask we're out of ingredients and we only had enough for a little amount in Zuma's bowl." explained Marshall.

"So I'm going down to the grocery store to get more ingredients." I said.

"Ok Adam." replied Katie. "While you're there Marshall and I will look after the pups."

"Hey Adam, do you think I could go with you?" asked Marshall. "Cause I can help you find the ingredients and other things."

"Of course little buddy." I said as I knelt down and stroked his fur.

"Alright Marshall you can go with Adam if you want," said Katie.

Marshall was pleased that he was going with me.

I checked the list I wrote and made sure it had all the ingredients on it and a few other things.

"We'll be back soon Katie." said Marshall as we left the Lookout to go to my truck.

I opened the passenger door and helped Marshall onto the passenger seat.

Then I went to the driver's side.

"Now I think that's all we need for the chicken soup and a few other things." I said as I showed Marshall what I had written on the list.

Yep, that's what was in the cookbook." said Marshall.

We set off in my truck and set off for the grocery store.

Soon we arrived at the grocery store and I grabbed a basket from a rack.

Me and Marshall set off into the store to buy the ingredients.

First we saw a stand with some things being heated in it.

"Maybe this is where the chicken is." I said.

"Well let's find out," said Marshall.

"Ruff! X-Screen!" he barked.

An x-ray screen popped out of his pup pack and it scanned the containers on the stand.

"This container has rotisserie chicken in it." said Marshall.

I knelt down and looked at his x-ray screen.

"So does this one." I said pointing at another container on the x-ray.

"Let's take both of them just in case." said Marshall.

I agreed and put them in my basket.

"That's the main ingredient buddy." I said.

"Good, now let's get the rest." said Marshall as we walked down an aisle looking for some things on the list.

We walked down to the other end of the store and found carrots in the produce department.

"Here's some carrots Adam." Marshall called to me when he noticed the carrots.

"Great." I said as I put some in our basket.

We also got some celery since we had also put celery in the chicken soup we made back at the Lookout.

Then we found tissues when we were near the paper towels.

"Hey. Here's some tissues buddy." I said.

"Oh, those will definitely come in handy for the pups," said Marshall.

So he put a couple boxes in my basket.

Soon we bought all the ingredients we needed and went to the checkout counter.

"I think with all we bought we should have more than enough ingredients for all the chicken soup we need." concluded Marshall.

"Yeah I guess you're right buddy boy." I said.

We exited the grocery store and I set the groceries on the floor in front of Marshall's seat.

Then I helped Marshall back into my truck and we set off back to the Lookout.

Soon we arrived back at the Lookout.

"Hi Katie, we're back." called Marshall as he helped carry a bag into the Lookout with me carrying the rest.

"Hi guys, glad you're back," said Katie.

"I'll make more chicken soup then put away the rest of the groceries." I said as I picked up the bag Marshall had carried in for me.

"And I'll help." said Marshall and followed me into the kitchen.

Soon we did the same thing we had done before we went to the grocery store but this time we were able to make more now that we had more ingredients.

Soon I had poured more chicken soup for Zuma and some for Skye.

I carried both their bowls out to Katie with Marshall by my side.

"Thanks, you two." said Katie as she took the bowls from me.

Then she put Zuma's bowl by him as Marshall walked near to where Skye was.

Then I went back to the kitchen to put away the groceries.

Katie put Chase's bowl of chicken soup by him.

"Now, drink up all your chicken soup." she said.

"It'll help you feel better." she said as she put Skye's bowl by her.

"Thanks Katie." said Skye in a sick voice.

She then sneezed and flipped up in the air with her blanket and landed back on her bed.

She laughed and so did Katie and the pups.

I hadn't seen it since I was busy putting away the groceries.

Then Marshall's pup tag lit up and made a beeping noise.

"Ryder?" he asked.

"Hey Marshall, I need you to help Rocky. He's not feeling too well." said Ryders voice through the pup tag.

"Another pup sick?" asked Marshall. "On my way!"

And Marshall dashed out of the Lookout to get his ambulance.

I heard what Marshall said.

Rocky is sick as well?" I asked Katie.

"Yep, we'll need some chicken soup for Rocky." replied Katie.

"I'll get it." I said.

I grabbed Rocky's pup bowl and went to get the leftover chicken soup Marshall and I made from the fridge.

I poured some chicken soup into Rocky's bowl and went out to Katie who was preparing Rocky's pup bed.

"Just put it right there Adam so it's ready when Marshall gets back with Rocky." instructed Katie.

I put it by Rocky's pup bed and then got Rocky's blanket with some recycling logos on it.

Soon Marshall arrived back with Rocky.

"Don't worry Rocky," said Marshall. "Katie, Adam, and I will take good care of you."

"Ok Marshall." said Rocky in a scratchy voice.

Katie helped Rocky out of his gear and then he went over to his pup bed.

"Here you go Rocky." I said as I tucked him in with his blanket.

"Thank you Adam." said Rocky in his scratchy voice.

Then I went back to put away the groceries.

A little while later Ryder and Rubble returned to the Lookout.

"Hi Ryder," said Marshall. "We're all-."

But then he sneezed and it sent him backwards and his cap fell on the floor.

He landed on his neck.

Ryder, Katie and the other pups laughed.

"Uh-oh, not you too Marshall." said Ryder as he knelt by Marshall.

"Me too." said Marshall as he got up and went over to a pup bed and Katie put his blanket over him.

"Pups, duck your head and the cold won't spread, like this," said Marshall.

"Achoo!" he said as he demonstrated as he sneezed into his right front leg.

"What a bunch of good pups." said Ryder. But then he sneezed also.

"Ah, achoo!" he said.

Ryder, Katie, and the pups all laughed.

I noticed that Ryder and Rubble had returned and walked over to them.

"Hi Ryder. Hi Rubble." I said as I knelt down and stroked Rubbles fur.

"Oh, Hi Adam." greeted Ryder. "What are you doing here?"

"I've been here helping Katie and Marshall take care of Chase, Zuma, and Skye. And then Rocky." I explained.

Rubble was impressed.

"Wow, you must've been a big help Adam." he said.

I patted Rubble's head and stood up.

"Well I'd better get you some chicken soup Marshall and for you too Ryder just in case." I said.

"Thanks Adam," said Marshall.

I walked back to the kitchen.

"I'll help you Adam." said Rubble as he followed me into the kitchen.

"Thanks Rubble. Can you get Marshall's pup bowl? I said as I took the chicken soup out of the fridge.

"Sure thing Adam." said Rubble as he ran out and grabbed Marshall's pup bowl and carried it back to me.

Then he hopped onto the stool Marshall was sitting at earlier.

Rubble put down Marshall's bowl and I poured some chicken soup into it.

I then told Rubble all about what had been going on while He and Ryder were at Farmer Al's.

"Wow, you've been a big help to Marshall and Katie." said Rubble.

"Yeah, can you take this to Marshall, Rubble? I asked.

"Of course Adam," said Rubble.

He hopped off the stool.

"Ruff! Shovel!" barked Rubble and his shovel popped out of his pup pack.

I set Marshall's bowl on Rubble's shovel and he set off to deliver the chicken soup to Marshall.

"Thanks Rubble." I said.

Then I poured Ryder some chicken soup.

Rubble proudly walked over to Marshall.

"Chicken soup delivery." said Rubble and Katie put the chicken soup by Marshall's pup bed.

Then I gave Ryder some chicken soup as he sat on a beanbag in the room.

"Thanks Adam," said Ryder.

"No problem Ryder." I said as I went over to Marshall and sat between him and Rubble.

"Thank you Adam," said Marshall. "You've been a big help."

"It's no problem buddy boy." I said as I gently stroked his fur.

"Don't pet me too much Adam." said Marshall "Or you could get sick too."

Then it was my turn to sneeze.

"Ah- Achoo!" I said.

Rubble used his paw to shield himself from the germs.

"Not you too Adam." said Rubble.

"Here sit over here with Ryder," said Katie.

I sat down by Ryder and Katie made me some chicken soup.

Ryder and I had a little of our chicken soup and Rubble made sure to keep away from the sick pups and Ryder and me so he wouldn't get sick.

So he helped Katie take care of all of us while we recovered.

The End
