Chapter 11: The Battle of Narita Part 1
In the Sumeragi Residence…
Naomi got up from her bed to quietly get dressed in her civilian clothes to meet up with Kallen, Rai and the other members of the Black Knights.
The brunette tucked Kaguya to sleep and slowly stroked her cheek.
"I'll see you later, Kaguya."Naomi whispered with a smile. "I got a job to do."
Kaguya was fast asleep causing Naomi to gently give her a soft kiss on the forehead.
Naomi went out of the room and frowned when she saw D.D leaning against the wall on the opposite side of the hallway.
"Look after her, okay D.D?"Naomi instructed. "She may be young but she has a very big responsibility as the young head mistress of the Kyoto House."
"I know what I have to do, Naomi."D.D assured with a smirk. "You can trust me."
The brunette's eyes narrowed a bit, but didn't say anything as she walked away.
Afterwards...
The hideout of the Black Knights were very lively and animated.
It was said that Kyoto had sent the Black Knight goods and material to support them after they acknowledged the group's activities.
The goods from Kyoto were knightmares that were updated Glasgows called Burais and two other special ones.
"Wow, it's amazing!"
"These are Glasgows, aren't they?"
"Burais, a Japanese modification."
"Man, the Black Knights have gotta some serious muscle!"
"It wasn't easy to sign up with the BK!"
"So that makes us special, huh?"
Naomi smiled at the compliments from the new members of the Black Knights before going to Kallen and her friends.
Kallen and her companions were staring at two knightmares that were placed at the back of the hanger.
The first was a vibrant scarlet colour that bore an appearance to a knight with a silver face and bright blue eyes. It had a gun built onto its left arm while its silver right hand had long sharp clawed fingers on it.
The second was a primarily hot pink Knightmare with a knight head that had ruby red eyes. It's left arm stuck out as being primarily silver with a red claw-like device at the end and had a sniper gun built onto its right arm.
"These Knightmares are different."Rai complemented.
"Those guys from Kyoto, they believed in us."Sugiyama remarked. "They sent us these."
"The Guren Mk-II."Kallen said in amazement.
"The other one in pink is a prototype called the Rosen."Yoshida admitted.
"Did you check up the manuals?"Minami asked.
"I'm really love in this."Tamaki admitted while scratching his nose. "The big shots in Kyoto are recognizing us. We've got their approval."
"Tamaki, would you show me how to use this equipment here!"A girl called out.
"Oh sure."Tamaki answered and rushed to help the newbie. "Hang on, I'll be right there."
"Newbies, what are you gonna do?"Inoue asked.
Rai, Inoue, Sugiyama, Yoshida and Minami followed after Tamaki leaving Naomi alone with Kallen.
Naomi stared at the Guren MK-II and the Rosen before letting out a low whistle.
"Completely made Japanese Knightmares."Naomi chuckled. "They look more awesome in person."
"Yeah, they do."Kallen agreed with a nod.
Suddenly footsteps were heard from behind and the two girls saw Zero walking forward.
"First Tamaki and now Inoue and the rest are treating this like a party."Zero commented in disproval. "Kyoto is backing multiple resistance groups, correct?"
"Yes."Kallen answered with a smile. "Which means that we finally made it in. They know that we're worthy."
"No, you're wrong there Kallen."Zero stated. "This is merely a test they put to us."
"So, what if it is?"Kallen asked. "This is still incredible."
"You said it."Naomi agreed in amusement.
"Both of you are optimists."Zero declared.
Zero handed the key of the Guren Mk-II to Kallen and the key of the Rosen to Naomi.
"The Guren Mk-II is yours now, Kallen."Zero stated and looked at Naomi. "Naomi, you'll be piloting the Rosen."
"They're ours?"Kallen said in surprise. "But we have a lot more people now and we can't afford to lose you."
"Are you sure about this, Zero?"Naomi asked in a unsure tone. "You are our leader."
"Both of you are top notch pilots. I'm a commander."Zero declared. "I'll use a Burai. Besides you each have a reason to fight."
Kallen and Naomi exchanged glances before looking back at Zero.
"Right."Kallen agreed with a determined look. "We won't let you down."
"We'll do our best, sir."Naomi remarked.
"Zero, you got a second?"Ohgi asked as he came forward holding a file. "We got some weird intel here from a Britannian who wants to join up with the Black Knights."
Naomi stood with Zero as he checked the file that Ohgi gave to him.
"This maybe a trap to draw us out."Ohgi complemented. "I'd say even if we wanna confirm the information it's too risky to contact him directly. But news like this isn't something we can just ignore. What should we do?"
Zero closed the file to make an announcement.
"This weekend, we're going hiking."Zero stated.
"What?"Ohgi said in confusion.
"To the Narita mounts."Zero declared.
"Sounds fun."Naomi sneered as she held the key of her Knightmare.
The Next Morning..
Nunnally woke up from her bed as Sayoko brought her clothes to start the day.
"Sayoko, we won't need any breakfast for my brother this morning."Nunnally admitted.
"He's going out?"Sayoko asked.
"He said he be leaving on a three day trip starting today."Nunnally stated.
"Oh, I see."Sayoko responded as she opened the curtains in Nunnally's room. "My, your brother and Naomi have been going out quite a bit recently. Are they dating?"
Nunnally's cheeks became bright red when she thought her older brother and her sister figure being a couple.
"I…I guess they are."Nunnally admitted shyly.
In a small house in Narita...
Two members of the Japan Liberation Front were on duty while playing Chinese checkers.
"Sector five, nothing to report."the first solider admitted.
"Right."the second solider agreed. "The next scheduled report will be in two hours."
"Of course, there's nothing to report."the first solider complemented. "This area's controlled by the Japan Liberation Front. No one can just stroll in…."
The front door was suddenly opened as Zero himself just walked into the lodge.
The soldiers immediately stood up with their guns.
"Zero!"
"Relax, I only came to talk."Lelouch stated as he took off his mask just as he activated his Geass. "I want you to ignore any unusual activity during your watch."
The sigil flew into both the soldiers' eyes and they immediately went back to their game.
"Sure, no problem."the first solider assured. "Come on, it's your turn."
"What's the rush?"the second solider asked. "We're just on regular duty, you know."
In the Narita Mountains...
Naomi sat inside the Rosen's cockpit while slowly munching on a matcha croissant as she lead Kallen, Rai and the rest of the Black Knights to the very summit of the mountain.
"Naomi, do you know what Zero meant when he said hiking?"Inoue asked.
"Cornelia and the Britannian Army are planning to destroy the remnants of the Japan Liberation Front in Narita."Naomi declared. "So we'll be rescuing the JLF before they get wiped out."
That caught everyone's attention.
"Rescue the JLF!?"Kallen repeated in shock.
"Seriously?!"Tamaki questioned. "After that mess at the Hotel Jacking?"
Naomi wiped away the sweet green paste in her lower lip with her thumb before responding.
"Well, the JLF is the biggest resistance group in this nation."Naomi exclaimed. "If we are able to save them, we may not only gain their support..."
"But the support of virtually every other resistance in Japan."Yoshida finished.
"Exactly."Naomi replied.
"That is a good plan."Rai chuckled. "As well as Knightmares, we've prepared every kind of firearms and even evacuating equipment."
Naomi smirked a bit until she heard Ohgi's respond.
"And Zero is confident that we can do it?"Ohgi asked with an unsure expression.
"Of course."Naomi responded and a glare appeared on her face. "Why? You don't trust him?"
"I-I do."Ohgi assured. "I just hope this works out."
"It well."Naomi thought and looked down. "Then again. Zero's primary goal was to capture Cornelia. But if we save the JLF, hopefully all of Japan will come to our side."
Lelouch sat in the lounge with the two JLF soldiers, still under the effect of his Geass, playing their game and ignoring him.
"The day I've waited for has finally come, Cornelia."Lelouch complemented.
Lelouch looked out the window and became surprised to see C.C standing outside.
Meanwhile...
Cornelia's own mobile base was making its way through the evacuated city of Narita.
"We're certain that the Japan Liberation Front headquarters are in this area."Darlton stated.
"We've already split 4 battalions into seven units and hidden them in the vicinity. We've only to wait for the viceroy signal then we'll surround them in one fell swoop and wipe them out."
"And are you confident that the enemy won't show up outside the encirclement line?"Euphemia questioned.
"You mean Zero?"Cornelia corrected.
"Have no fear about that."Darlton replied. "As the operation begins, we'll be blocking off the surrounding highways and mountain routes also."
"Plus, we have reserve units."Cornelia declared. "If Zero is stupid enough to show up, it'll be the end of him."
In Ashford Academy...
Milly became surprised when Nina told her that she wanted to meet Euphemia.
"What?!"Milly questioned as she sat on a table in front of Nina, who was reading a magazine article on Euphemia. "You want to meet her?! Are you kidding?! Do you know who you're talking about?! She's a princess and you're just a citizen! What do you have in common aside from that hotel jacking?!"
"Yes but as for Princess Euphemia…"Nina started. "I never got a chance to thank her for helping me."
"Hmm...there was a time when my family name had the influence to arrange that."Milly admitted. "So tell me Nina, do you know what the social status is on a principle's granddaughter?"
"Um…not a very high one?"Nina guessed.
"Correct."Milly agreed. "Not very."
In Narita...
Lelouch went out of the small house to talk to C.C.
"C.C, what are you doing here?"Lelouch asked.
"I said that I would protect you, didn't I?"C.C reminded.
"Aren't you overdoing it?"Lelouch questioned.
"I've been wondering about something Lelouch, why are you Lelouch."C.C responded.
"I don't have time to discuss philosophy with you."Lelouch retorted.
"You changed your family sir name to Lamperouge but you kept Lelouch the name that was given to you at birth."C.C reminded. "How sentimental. You can't let go of the past."
Lelouch glared at C.C.
"Well, C.C swings to the other extreme, doesn't it?"Lelouch asked. "It's not a human name."
A gust of wind gently blew around Lelouch and C.C causing a few snowflakes to go up in the sky.
"Lelouch, do you know why snow is white?"C.C asked with a smile. "Snow is white because it's forgotten what color it's supposed to be."
In the G1 Base...
Cornelia began to mobilize her troops with Euphemia overseeing the logistics and medical fields after forcing her sister to let her see war firsthand.
"All units are in position."A solider reported.
"Understood."Cornelia replied. "Euphemia will provide logistical support From G1 as planned. Have her command medical group."
"Yes, Your Highness."the soldier answered.
When the soldier ended the call, Guilford contacted Princess Cornelia.
"Princess Cornelia."Guildford spoke up.
"Guilford, let me guess."Cornelia replied. "This is about Euphie, isn't it?"
"Yes."Guilford answered. "She really should be in a government agency, not…"
Cornelia closed her eyes and shook her head.
"But she's being unusually stubborn about this."Cornelia responded with a smile. "She told me she wanted to see actual combat for herself."
In Another Area in Narita...
Zero joined up with Naomi and the rest of the Black Knights, who have placed electrodes through the mountain and into a water reserve.
All that remained was plugging in the electrodes that the Guren's Radiant Wave Surger would use and waiting for the right moment.
All the Black Knights stood ready and were just waiting for the right signal.
Rai sat on his Burai and was using his laptop to hijack and sent a warning message to people of the area to evacuate from being hit by the Guren's Radiant Wave Surger.
Kallen notice Rai having a worried look on his face.
"You okay, Rai?"Kallen asked.
"Y-Yes."Rai responded with a determined look. "I sent in a warning message to warn people to stay away from the area that will be hit by the Guren's Radiant Wave Surger once you release it."
"You can hijack things beside piloting a knightmare?"Kallen asked in surprise. "You're full of surprises."
The silver haired boy's cheeks turned a bit red at Kallen's respond.
"I guess I am."Rai agreed shyly.
Naomi gripped the controls inside the Rosen as she bit her lip.
"My first battle with the Black Knights."Naomi murmured and a determined look grew on her face. "I will get through with this without fail."
In the G1 Base...
"Viceroy, it's time."Darlton declared.
"Right."Cornelia responded. "Commence operation."
Cornelia's Customized Gloucester launched out to lead her troops.
Britannian Sutherlands and Gloucesters swarmed around the mountain while VTOL planes dropped the knightmares around the downtown city.
"You, the Japan Liberation Front. You, who time has left behind."Cornelia sneered. "You, who have forgotten basic human decency. You and your dream of a bygone golden age shall fall and rot to nothingness."
In the JLF Headquarters...
"We're under enemy attack?"General Katase questioned.
"Yes, sir."A JLF soldier answered. "The Britannian forces has completely encircled the Narita mountains. We've counted over a hundred units."
In Another Area in Narita...
"It's begun."Zero declared.
"Huh? What the hell?"Tamaki demanded. "You've gotta be kidding, Zero. Those troops coming in have this whole area totally surrounded. There's no way out."
"We've already been cut off."Zero stated. "Our only chance of surviving now is to fight."
"What?"Inoue asked. "We can't fight the Britannians."
"Let me get this straight."Tamaki said. "We're surrounded and you want us to fight them head-on?"
"And we'll be fighting against Cornelia."Sugiyama commented. "Her forces are far stronger than any we've encountered."
"Correct."Zero agreed. "It would be a miracle if we win this."
"Zero, what are you saying."Ohgi said.
"Even Messiahs need to perform miracles if they're to be acknowledged."Zero explained.
"Therefore, we have to produce our own miracle, don't we?"
"Now look, pulling this off isn't gonna be cheap!"Tamaki snapped. "The price could be our lives!"
"Hey! Quit complaining!"Naomi shouted with a glare as she stood up from the Rosen's cockpit. "Look at everything that Zero has done for all of you! He has given you the chance to actually stand up against Britannia! If it wasn't for him, none of you would be alive after Shinjuku!"
Naomi glanced towards Zero and the Black Knights.
"If you guys wanna leave then go ahead!"Naomi insisted. "I'm going to stay here and fight for Japan's freedom!"
"I'm staying here too!"Kallen declared as she sat the top of the Guren.
"I'll stay as well."Rai stated firmly. "I'm just as much involved in all of this as Zero, Naomi and Kallen! No way, I am backing out now!"
"Ever since you've joined the Black Knights, you knew something like this would happen."Zero responded. "It won't be an easy fight facing the full force of Britannia, but the choice is yours. Either leave and live a life of hardship or stay and fight to protect this nation."
All the Black Knight members glanced at each other and no one responded until Sugiyama spoke up.
"I have no reason to doubt you, Zero."Sugiyama admitted. "I am staying."
This caused the other Black Knights members to respond as well.
"I am staying!"Yoshida declared.
"So am I!"Inoue admitted.
"Alright, alright."Tamaki retorted in defeat. "Do what you want."
A smile crept on Zero's face behind his mask.
"Thank you very much."Zero answered. "I appreciate it."
Cornelia began plowing through the Burais on her own as her forces sweep through all defenses the JLF had up against them.
"They're too fragile."Cornelia replied.
"The enemy seems to be concentrated over here!"Darlton reported. "This maybe the target! Split up now!"
In the JLF Headquarters...
General Katase saw that his soldiers were easily get wiped away by Cornelia's forces through a hologram map.
"No good!"A soldier shouted. "Our second attack wave had no effect!"
"Their sheer dominance is insurmountable."General Katase scoffed.
Inside the Rosen...
Naomi frowned at seeing the Britannians continuing to sweep the JLF off their feet.
"You truly are the Goddess of Victory, Cornelia."Naomi thought. "However, as much as I admire your excellent pilot skills, it looks I'm going to have to use everything that you have taught me to fight against you."
Jeremiah started complaining as he was going to assist Dalton but discovers from Villetta that he is now part of the rear line and won't be fighting.
"I thought the reserve units were supposed to be assigned to General Darlton."Jeremiah argued.
"That's right, they were, but our unit has to secure the rear line of Viceroy Cornelia."Villetta stated.
"You mean this is the rear line?"Jeremiah questioned. "You can't get any further away from the battlefield. How am I going to redeem my reputation out here if I'm not even near the fighting?"
Meanwhile...
The JLF Front continued losing more and more forces causing General Katase to become stressed since that they wouldn't have a chance to fight back against Cornelia and her forces.
"We've lost contact with Nakamura's unit!"
"No response from sector three!"
"Major Tabata has been killed!"
"Kurota and Kurata are gone, too!"
"What about Nagai?"
"Where's Tohdoh?"General Katase demanded. "If only he were here the divine wind would blow. We'd have another miracle of Itsukushima."
Tohdoh and the Four Holy Swords drove two large trucks through the roadblocks set up by the military as fast as they could.
"Sir, don't you think this is a little extreme?"Asahina asked.
"Asahina, Chiba, prep the custom Burais ASAP."Tohdoh demanded. "Tell Urabe and Senba behind us to do the same. Traffic is blocked off all around Narita. They've already begun to attack. I just pray that we are in time."
Back in Narita...
When the Black Knights finished the preparations, Zero gives the order to advance which reignite their spirits.
"Right, all preparations have now been completed!"Zero declared. "Black Knights prepare to move out!"
"We'll make a miracle happen!"
"Yeah, we'll have Zero with us!"
"We the Black Knights are going to launch a surprise attack on the Britannians from the summit of the mountain."Zero instructed. "This attack should wipe out half the enemy force in an instant! Once that is done, we'll smash through all that remains of the Britannian forces. The primary objective of this operation is to ensure the survival of the Japan Liberation Front! The second objective is to capture Cornelia Li Britannia!"
Naomi closed the hatch of the Rosen as her fingers stroked the switch to start her Knightmare.
"Kallen, use penetrating electrode number three in the Guren Mk-II!"Naomi instructed. "With this, you'll settle things with one blow!"
"Got it."Kallen answered as she made the claw of the Guren to one of the electrodes. "Output confirmed. Wave surger level is ready and holding. Activating gun bullet now."
Kallen pressed a button to send a charge through the electrode.
Then a few seconds later, the entire ground around the mountain began to shake and explode out from outside.
"It worked!"Kallen remarked.
A gigantic rockslide started down the mountain and headed down where the Britannian Military force was.
C.C sees the carnage from a close yet safe distance, while the rocks devastate forces of all kinds on its way down, including Darlton, as well as forces in the city.
In the G1 Base...
"What's happening?"Euphemia asked.
"Impossible."A soldier denied. "How could a landslide come out of nowhere?"
"Alex and Darlton's units are getting wiped out!"Another soldier added.
At the Narita Mountains…
Inside his Burai, Lelouch smirked at the sight before him.
"Heh. It's even more destructive than I anticipated."Lelouch thought. "We did succeed in isolating Cornelia's unit but we could've been a bit more accurate. Perhaps I should've consulted a physics teacher or ask Nina to tutor me in probability."
Naomi was stunned at the destructive sight she saw before she glanced at her companions.
"Alright, everyone!"Naomi declared and moved the Rosen. "Let's go!"
Cornelia was shocked at what just happened until she received a communication from one of her soldiers.
"New enemy force confirmed moving in from the summit!"the soldier reported. "Carius unit is moving to engage them!"
"Hoping to take advantage of all the confusion, are they?"Cornelia questioned.
"Emergency call from Carius unit!"A soldier reported.
"What's wrong?"Cornelia questioned.
"It's not the Japan liberation Front, they think it's the Black Knights!"the soldier admitted.
"What? Then it's-"Cornelia started.
"Zero!"Jeremiah shouted in excitement as he made his Sutherland move up the mountain. "How dare he show up here, Zero!"
"Lord Jeremiah, you can't just abandon your post!"Villetta protested.
"This requires drastic measures!"Jeremiah admitted. "If you want glory in life, then follow me!"
Jeremiah abandons his post and heads straight for the battlefield with Villetta and some others reluctantly following him.
The Black Knights were divided into several groups as they drove down the mountain to smash their way through limited reinforcements that Cornelia had with her.
Naomi's group headed off to help the JLF since Tohdoh and the Four Holy Swords won't be showing up for a while.
The brunette made the Rosen use it's right arm to open fire at the incoming Sutherlands and in a blink of an eye, they were shoot down as the others took out Carius's unit.
Zero stood in the Burai that had a red and gold crown on it as Jeremiah takes out two of his Burais to confront his Knightmare.
"Is Zero here? If he is, then face me!"Jeremiah challenged. "Come forward and fight Jeremiah Gottwald!"
"Well, well, it's been a while Jeremiah. So you're still in the army?"Zero said in a taunting smirk. "I'd love to stay and catch up but I'm afraid I don't have time right this minute, Orange Boy."
Jeremiah's nerve snapped at the name that Zero called him.
"Orange?!"Jeremiah shouted. "DIE!"
Jeremiah's Sutherland charged to kill Zero, but the Guren suddenly knocked away his gun effortlessly.
"Lord Jeremiah!"Villetta called out.
"Stay out of this!"Jeremiah demanded. "This is my duel!"
"But look at it, I've never seen a Knightmare like that before!"Villetta protested. "Is it possible that the Elevens have…"
"You think Elevens are capable of such technology?"Jeremiah questioned.
"Yeah that's right Britannia!"Kallen shouted from inside her Knightmare. "We can finally go up against you on equal footing head on! And our counter attack begins with this baby the Guren Mk-II!"
Kallen glanced at Rai's Burai.
"Rai, I got this!"Kallen declared.
"Go ahead."Rai insisted with a smirk. "His all yours, Q1."
Jeremiah was the first to attack, but Kallen was able to block it with the Guren's silver claw.
The Guren spun around the Sutherland as Jeremiah tried to attack her, only for Kallen to make her Knightmare jump higher than any other Knightmare could jump before.
"It's fast!"Jeremiah exclaimed and the Guren readied it's claw to catch his Sutherland by the head. "Oh hell! There's something on its right hand. But if I keep my distance? What's this?"
"Sorry."Kallen muttered grimly.
The red haired girl then activated the Guren's Radiant Wave Surger.
The Guren sends a giant shockwave to Jeremiah's Sutherland causing it to swell.
"What?!"Jeremiah shouted in shock. "What the hell's happening?!"
"Lord Jeremiah, eject!"Villetta ordered.
"I can't run now! Zero's right in front of me!"Jeremiah protested in agony. "He's standing right here. Damn it! The auto-eject! Don't you dare activate! I can still get Zero! I know it! I know I can still get him! Aah!"
Jeremiah continued to fight but was caught by the Guren's claws.
Kallen again activated the radiation wave of the Guren, destroying Jeremiah's Knightmare and forcing his cockpit to eject.
"I won't lose!"Kallen declared with a confident tone. "Not with this Guren Mk-II!"
"That was awesome, Kallen!"Rai thought proudly. "You're amazing!"
Villetta was shocked at Jeremiah being defeated by the Black Knights.
"They defeated Lord Jeremiah! Who are the Black Knights?"Villetta questioned. "Who are they, these warriors?"
In Zero's Burai...
Lelouch smirked at the Guren defeating Jeremiah's Sutherland.
Now all was left was to help out the JLF and capture Cornelia to achieve victory with his beloved.
