Chapter 1 – What happened on the way to the Scorpio Temple

"I'll burn up my Cosmos, not to fight my enemies, but to save a friend, I'm the only one who can. Even if I die trying, I swear that I will save you… Hyoga"

Somehow those sweet words resonated with Hyoga every single night and wouldn't let him sleep. He could still feel Shun's warm Cosmos bringing him back to life. But what hunt him the most was what happened after he woke up from his frozen state.

He still remembered, every single night after they returned from Athens. He could see it clearly right now, as if it was a moving picture, more intense than a memory, even if it really was just that. He closed his eyes to relive it… again.

Hyoga found Shun lying in the ground of the Libra Temple, barely alive.

What happened? he asked himself. He knew he lost his battle against Camus because he couldn't brush away his feelings for his mother, he couldn't stand the idea of fighting against his Master, his only real father figure. He knew he died; he must have! Did Shun really saved me? Did he really give his life for me? No! He can't die, not him!

That's when he heard him "Hyoga?" in a very low whisper in his angelical voice.

"Shun!" He yelled going immediately to him "You are awake"

"You came back!" Shun exclaimed trying to stay awake but tiredness was taking him again and his eyelids slowly closed again, feeling relief.

"Shun, I'm so sorry. I never meant for this to happen. This all my fault" Hyoga sounded in pain trying to find his voice. Hyoga couldn't believe this had happened. He would never forgive Camus after this. He not only destroyed his chance to go back to his mother, Camus tried his best to make him feel ashamed for his feelings, his traumatizing feelings of despair after losing the thing he loved the most.

"Don't say that" Shun said as he woke with more energy.

"This is because I was weak. The thought of losing my mother forever… Camus said… he said that I was still a little boy with a Oedipus complex… he said that I could never be a Saint if I still harbored those feelings, he said that he was doing me a favor putting me out of my misery." Hyoga said and a tear left his eyes.

"You could never be weak. Not because of that, never to me. Your ability to love so deeply it's what drives you, what gives you strength, what brightens up your Cosmos" Shun said to him, pulling himself up on his elbow, Hyoga helped him.

"Shun…" and Hyoga blushed knowing full well how ashamed he felt. What an asshole! Why are you trying so hard for me to hate you? Why are you doing this? Hyoga thought – even if Camus was an asshole alright, he was right about one thing, it was time to move on, to let her go. Otherwise Hyoga wouldn't be any good on this fight or any fight for that matter; he wouldn't be any good to his friends… any good to Shun. "Come on. I can feel Seiya and Shiryu not far from us"

"They must have arrived at the Temple of Scorpio" Shun said.

"Then, let's go" Hyoga said as he stood up from the ground.

"You go ahead, I don't think I can walk just yet" Shun said as his eyelids closed again.

"Are you crazy? I won't leave you here" Hyoga said with resolve in his voice. – I already lost my mother, I will not lose you too.

"Don't! You must get to the Pope's Chamber. Hurry up!" Shun said and that's when Hyoga bent down and lifted Shun in his arms, embracing Shun with his newfound warmth.

"We will get there, both of us, even if I have to drag you step by step" Shun didn't fight anymore, this was a place he had dreamed of being, under other circumstances, clearly. He had dreamt of being in Hyoga's arms late at night sleeping soundly on his bed or holding hands under a burning sun on a beach somewhere. This was definitely not his ideal scenario, but he felt safe, he felt in a cold heaven. Shun was really fighting to keep his will going, he wanted to drift asleep, maybe he could revisit one of his many dreams being near this gorgeous blond and that's when Shun felt it, Hyoga's Cosmos was keeping him alive… yes, it felt cold, warm, appreciation, relief, despair, joy, anger and…love? - Yes, it is love. Maybe for his mother? No… this feels different somehow. These feeling are for…for me - Shun thought.

Hyoga started walking up the stairs that would get them to the Scorpio Temple.

"I'm slowing you down" Shun said

"Don't be stupid. I won't leave you. Simple as that." Hyoga said looking down at Shun's face, he was slowly drifting away. "Your Cosmos is disappearing Shun" Hyoga said worriedly.

"I'm ok" Shun answered.

"Please don't give up. Not now" Hyoga cried.

"I won't" Shun answered barely in a whisper. "I can feel the warmth of your Cosmos"

"The warmth? What are you talking about?" Hyoga asked.

"Yes… I can sense your feelings… your feelings for me." as Shun said those words Hyoga was taken by surprise. Could it be that Shun could sense his feelings? His real feelings for him? Hyoga could only blush. "I hear your heart… pounding" Shun whisper.

"Stop talking!" he said after a while. Good answer, he scolded himself – idiot "I can barely feel your Cosmos" Hyoga said again looking at Shun's face and saw that he was now unconscious. Shun was right, his heart was racing thousand miles per hour. "Please… you can't die" Hyoga whispered shedding another tear. "I couldn't even tell you how I…" but he couldn't even finish the sentence.

Something that started slow, almost like nothing. Pure admiration when he helped save Shiryu during the Galaxian Wars. He remembered thinking what a waste of time, that guy is good as dead… but no, Shun insisted. He wasn't soft, he wasn't weak, he was noble, a good friend and a good brother. He wouldn't give up on Ikki as they all thought we was real evil. Shun didn't think so, he loved his brother.

He really didn't expect to feel attracted to Shun when he saw him, at least not that quickly. But how could he not? He was as beautiful as a porcelain doll. That was just the teenage hormones talking which he knew he had to suppress. It was so difficult, to be near him, fight with him, camp under the stars whenever a mission took them several days, feel his presence near him and not say anything at all. Hyoga would do small things, little things for Shun, hoping nobody noticed them. He let him take the window sit during the airplane flights. He let him jump the line during lunch in the mansion, he covered for him when they were supposed to be training and he was hiding at some nook or corner reading a good book. He would always give him half of anything he was eating. Maybe it would be an apple, an energy bar, anything to keep them going during their journey; much at the protest of a hungry Seiya. He would climb a tree and get fruit only for him. He would teach him some words in Russian, hoping he didn't notice, he had already taught him to say I love you.

Hyoga started realizing he was falling in love when he got why Shun never gave up trying to convince his enemies to stop fighting, useless and completely pointless because he didn't want to hurt them. That's why he always ended up hurt himself, but Shun preferred it, he would take the world's pain all to himself if he could.

That something that started slow was now taking a big chunk of his heart. He decided not to say anything because he didn't want to disturb things, he just wanted Shun to feel safe and happy. He didn't want to make things awkward with a silly confession.

Hyoga felt anger mid-way to the Scorpio Temple as he felt Shun's heart fighting to beat. He felt anger towards Camus but most of all to himself. His mistake, his weakness, his mistake. Never again.

With determination Hyoga finished the long way to the Temple of Scorpio and told his friends about Shun's sacrifice. They asked if he was dead, that's how much Shun's Cosmos was drained. "I will never allow it!" Hyoga cried. "He will not die".

Seiya and Shiryu were amazed… just how big was their friendship? They questioned how they never noticed it before. Hyoga contemplated once more Shun's face as he put him on the ground… his porcelain face… his beautiful, adorable, porcelain face.

No… he would not let him die. He accepted Milo's challenge, he survived the Temple of Sagittarius and finally he defeated his Master. That broke his heart. He was forced to say goodbye to his past, his family.

But that was just a memory, one that he played over and over again.

When they were saved by Saori and the battle against Saga ended Hyoga and Shun looked at each other, knowing that a long conversation needed to happen, but they haven't…couldn't? No! … they needed to have it, because the feelings Hyoga had for Shun were about to explode in his chest. He just needed to tell him, no matter what Shun thought, if he felt the same for him or not. He just needed to tell him.

That's it, he thought as he pushed himself off the bed, waking up from his daydream. He needed to leave his room, all of the sudden he felt asphyxiated. He needed to breathe, he needed to be outside, preferably in a windy and snowy weather. He left his room and went downstairs.

"You're not feeling well? Should I call a doctor" Saori asked as she saw Hyoga walking down the stairs of the mansion.

"No need" he answered. "I just need to be outside"

"You must miss it" she said as he automatically blushed.

"Huh?" he asked. Does she know? He asked himself. With all his rumbling feelings going crazy in his head, the possibility Saori could read his emotions was very real.

"The cold, you must miss the cold" she stated smiling at him. He finally could release his breath and sighed.

"Do you mind if I make it… colder?" he asked.

"No, not at all. Do what you must" she said with a smile. God, she does know he thought.

He opened the door to the terrace and felt better already. It was a cold spring night but could be colder for his liking. So, he lifted his hand, closed his eyes and thought of snow, and soon enough it was snowing all around him. He grabbed the banister and tried to collect his thoughts.

"This is beautiful" Hyoga heard Shun's voice say. Hyoga turned around and saw him, blanket around his shoulders. "Andromeda's Island was so hot, that I almost forgot what snow looked like, got cold most nights, but not as cold as this."

He tried to look cool and calm "It's near Ethiopia's shore, right?" Hyoga asked.

"Yeah, it was hellish and beautiful all in one… I wouldn't recommend it as a vacation destination though" and it cracked a smile out of both.

"Believe me, Siberia wouldn't be good for that either" Hyoga added.

"We haven't seen each other much since we got back" Shun said.

"No… I left the hospital before you did and pretty much tried to keep to myself" Hyoga said honestly.

"Why?" Shun asked pain in his voice.

"I was angry… about what happened" Hyoga said.

"What do you mean?" Shun asked

"At-at the Temple of…" Hyoga tried to say.

"You are not still kicking yourself down for that are you?" Shun asked again.

"How could I not? Because of me you almost die. If anything would have happened to you, I would have never forgiven myself" Hyoga closed his eyes at the mental image that popped in his head.

"Hyoga stop it!" and Shun took his face with his hands. "Please, stop it. I hate to see you like this"

"Shun you do not understand. I could have lost you" Wow I just said that Hyoga thought hole in his stomach.

"You didn't… we are all ok Hyoga. And I'm so glad…" Shun said smiling and tears were falling from his eyes, Hyoga took Shun's hands in his, opening his gorgeous sky-blue eyes. "Because now I get to have you near me again" both of them blushed and Hyoga smiled looking at him, forest eyes in front of him. They were searching their feelings, hoping. This was risky enough, both thinking the other one was straight. That conversation simply never had happened, so this could perfectly be an unbelievable mistake. What if Shun didn't feel that way about him? What if Hyoga found offensive that Shun liked him? This was still the 90's after all.

Hyoga made an effort to shut his thoughts down, some were still there… teasing. Now's the time, right? It's now or never we should kiss? Which I never have before. What if I do it wrong? Hyoga's thoughts were overwhelming his head. But decided to start leaning to him. Shun's blush covered his cheeks and he closed his eyes. Hyoga closed his eyes as well and that's when they heard loud and clear a voice coming from the balcony upstairs, same balcony on Shun's room.

"Shun, could you please come in? I need to talk to you" that was Ikki's voice, and that was the kiss that never happened. Moment ruined.

"I'm sorry" Shun mouthed.

"It's ok" Hyoga said.

They looked at each other again, now less nervous, they knew they weren't imagining things. Somehow it was the best thing and the worst thing that could have happened. They were certain that something was there, more than something. It was like a whole galaxy of feelings, but it was still the worst because they couldn't express it properly just yet. They were dying to. And with that, regretting this action more than anything else, Shun moved away from Hyoga and entered the mansion in search for his brother whom he wanted to kill at the moment.

Lots of chapters, coming soon.

Authors Comments:

Ok, I know, I know… it's been 10 years? Maybe? since I wrote anything. I wasn't planning to really; life got complicated.

Recently mayor world events gave me an excuse to go back to the things I loved from my childhood and Saint Seiya came up. This is my second time watching the classic anime and I realized that my innocent 9-year-old head didn't pick-up the very obvious hidden crush these two have for each other… believe me, is there.

Now, hear me out if you are a manga-based fan. The first conversation Hyoga and Shun had in the chapter was adapted from a game for PlayStation Saint Seiya Seiki and I modified it a bit, but this happened… (I'm not delusional).

The story will be quite different from the manga and anime from this point on. At this present moment we are pre-Asgard and we are going to stay here for a while.

Also, I'm changing details that are bothering me now that I'm old and cranky… They will not be 13-year-old kids! I mean, come on! The only two people related here are Ikki and Shun, that's it.

So, first order of business, here are the new ages for the main characters:

Shun 15, Seiya 17, Hyoga 17, Shiryu 18 and Ikki 20. Let's face it, Ikki's character looks more like 32.

Here's something that's really bothering me… how come the Sanctuary never questioned where and why these kids were coming from to train and get the Sanctuary's cloths?

Here is my answer to this plot hole: the Graad Foundation didn't recruit orphans, the Sanctuary found them. Once they had their cloths, they were invited to the compete in this tournament and this is why Ikki was told to go fetch it. During the tournament they meet Saori and subsequently found her true identity and vowed to fight for her.

You've noticed that the Silver and Gold Saints come from all over the world? I think that adds something really cool to the story so… I'm changing their birth places because I find it silly to think that all the Bronze Saints will be found in the same place. Shun and Ikki are now from the UK, the name Shun just to avoid confusion will still be written as Shun but please bear in mind that my 9-year-old head always thought is was spelled as Sean (Google wasn't a thing back then). Ikki will be short for Zackary, which will be explained in later chapters. Hyoga from Russia, that wasn't changed, Seiya and Seika are from Greece and Shiryu from China.

All green, blue, purple hair colors should be changed from dirty blond to midnight black at your convenience. Why? Because I write thinking in live action sceneries.

I think this will be it for now, hope you enjoy.
