I thought about rewriting the very good and old story that was unfortunately taken off , Texting Fire by MizzyPlatnum. I know she wrote it, but I've decided to rewrite it in my own style. All text will be Italicized.
Chapter One
Buzz buzz, she groaned against her pillow, pulling up the soft pink comforter over her head to hide the brightness of her phone on the nightstand. Lucy Heartfillia was definitely not about to wake up. Nope. She was halfway asleep when she heard another ungodly loud buzz from her right.
Snapping her hand out from under the covers, she mindlessly reaching for her phone, stabbing her finger on the corner before picking up her phone. Squinting at the bright screen in the abyss darkness of her phone, Lucy groaned again at the name shown in the top corner.
"Hey you awake?", it read. Then a second text, "I really need your help!"
"I am now," quickly checking the time before sitting up in her bed, "2 in the morning!" she screamed texting him again, "You are texting me at 2 in the morning?"
"Nice! I need your help with some homework. It's an English paper," Lucy rolled her eyes, turning over to pull the string of her night lamp and leaned against her headboard.
"What makes you think I'm going to help you this late?", holding a small smile before biting her lip.
"Is it late?" she was about to give him a good tongue lashing with several big and unnecessary words that he won't understand until another text came in, "Have you read Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?"
Her tired brown eyes traveled to the very same book he mentioned on her bookshelf, hastily texting, "I swear I'm going to kill you one day."
Natsu texted her that he needed to talk about symbolism in the book and from the looks of it, Lucy could guess that he hadn't even picked up the book to even read it. shaking her head again she texted back, "Talk about why we're really here and what we're here to do on Earth."
After about an hour she texts him again asking when it was due and asking again why it had to be at 2 in the morning. "It's due today! :D"
She was really about to murder him. if she ever saw him.
Once he was done with his paper. He sent the document over to her to proofread. Noticing some misspelled words and obvious grammatical errors, then sending it back to him.
"Thank you so much! You really saved me!"
A blush came to her cheeks as she finally turned off her light and cuddled herself up in her bed again, "Yeah, no problem. G'night, Natsu." then snapping back at the time to see that it was now 4:25 in the morning and Lucy was about to explode when she yawned and closed her eyes to finally sleep.
Buzz buzz. "I will seriously kill him!" she muttered before picking up her phone again.
"Sweet dreams Weirdo."
Well, shit.

It was hard to tell why they started to do this. Yet, she couldn't say that she didn't love it.
Lucy was out at a local cafe with her two best friends, Levy McGarden and Juvia Lockser. On a usual Sunday when Juvia brought her new boyfriend along with her. Now, Levy and Lucy had only met him once before at her birthday party last month and he seemed nice enough, just a little odd.
Gray Fullbuster was one of those guys that never showed he cared about anyone outright. Only when in private does he make caring gestures and talks personally which Juvia tells them all about the next day. A little bit too much detail sometimes. While Juvia was such a sweet caring, overly caring, girl that shows her love at every possible second, she's with him.
Levy and Lucy had discussed how the two got together. They still didn't know, Juvia just loudly told them she had a boyfriend. The other reason was that Gray went to entirely different school than her. the three girls went to Mavis Academy, an all-girls school while Gray went to public school in Magnolia High.
Having ordered more bread and Lucy another cup of Chamomile tea, the couple then ran to the 'bathroom', together. The two girls just rolled their eyes, of course they would go to the restroom together. When Lucy had this brilliant idea at the sight of Gray's phone sitting straight across form her plate.
Quickly grabbing it after looking around for them, "Lu you can't steal Gray's phone!" Levy whisper-shouted.
Waving her hand in a silent 'shut up', Lucy scrolled through his contacts to steal a number to prank text. Her first pick was someone named 'Flamebrain'? she honestly didn't think anyone could be named super weird. Levy then took the phone away from her but pulled her own number to prank, called Gajeel; which she knows means to bite.
Choosing to both text at the same time so neither would chicken out.
Levy text a very saucy, "Hey there bad boy"
They had immediately texted back, "Who is this?"
Flicking her eyes back to Lucy who shrugged then looked back to her phone that was unusually silent. Her thumbs hovering over the keyboard, wondering what to text, she's not very good at pranks is she?
Then she had a spark of inspiration, "You really don't have my number saved? How rude of you!"
"I would if I knew who the hell you were!"
She giggled causing her blonde friend too look up from her own phone, "What's up?"
Her blue hair bounced as she snapped back at Lucy, "Oh I was going to pretend to be his girlfriend," she said while giggling.
Lucy laughed along with her as she texted back, "It's your girlfriend asshole. I can't believe you didn't even save my number!"
The two of them waited for a reply, Levy's eyebrows scrunched together in confusion when suddenly her phone started to ring with his number and the sound of killer by the ready set play in the small café. She yelped loudly before looking to Lucy for help, "What do I do?"
Waving her hands, Lucy shouted, "Answer it!"
Levy swallowed thickly then clicked the button, "Umm, hello?" her voice was shaky as she looked down to her empty plate.
His gruff voice came across the phone as he shouted, "WHO IS THIS?"
"I told her that I. Am. Your. Girlfriend!" she nearly shouted in the café as it was slowly becoming fuller.
Just as Lucy could hear the other line with Gajeel yelling back, she looked up to see Gray and Juvia coming back with messy hair with disheveled shirts. Gray's shirt was even unbuttoned, and Lucy had seen the very paleness that was Gray.
Then Levy pounded her hand down on the table, making the glasses wabble and yelling, "This isn't a prank call!"
"Who is she talking to?" Gray whispered to Lucy as Juvia smoothed down her hair back into curls.
Shrugging, "Some guy named Gajeel?"
"Convince you? H-how could I convince you?" the small blue haired girl nervously, rapidly flapping her hand to Gray for help.
Pulling up a picture of Gajeel himself, a big muscular man with long ruffled black hair. Clad in a dark grey teared shirt and black cargo pants also the oddly a lot of, "Piercings? You have a lot of piercings. Also, you really need to change your wardrobe."
"He sings," Gray whispered to her. Putting his phone back in her pocket when Juvia grabbed his hand quite quickly.
Smiling and leaning back into her chair, "You also sing."
Juvia jumped up a little, "Oh, he also has a black cat named Lily!", giggling at her poor friend.
"Aww and a small little kitty named Lily."
There was a short pause when they waited until they clearly heard a loud bellowing from Gajeel on the other end, "ARE YOU A STALKER OR SOMETHING?"
"Nope, just your girlfriend!" giggled after and eating a piece of bread from the basket.
The two then started a normal conversation more quietly than before. Lucy still tapping on her quiet phone, nothing yet. When Gray asked if she had texted someone too and she told him that she texted someone named flamebrain. He chuckled and pulled up a photo of him, "His name is Natsu Dragneel. He's dumb as fuck and likes a lot of spicy foods."
At first, she simply texted him a "Hii! :D"
When he finally texted back, "Yo! What's up?"
Taking a second, Lucy tried to think of something to prank him with. Levy had the fake girlfriend thing, what could she do? Be a girl that he gave his number to?
"Is your hair really pink?" she quickly texted him without thinking anything.
"Salmon but yes, it is -_-."
"Why? It's totally pink," looking at the picture again when Gray sent her it. His smile was wide, showing that he was laughing at someone or something. It really made him look handsome.
"What do you mean why? It just is."
Across from her Gray and Juvia were getting very touchy-feely with each other, her rubbing up and down on his arm while his hand was slowly and suspiciously disappearing under her skirt. Her honey brown eyes gazed towards Levy for help, but she was too enamored with her phone called with Gajeel while her hands were picking at the bread on her plate.
Taking a deep breath, she texted back, "Pshh that's super weird. Do you dye it?"
Then he started sending several texts at once. "No! its all natural" then "You're being super weird!" then "Who are you anyway?" and finally "How did you get my number?"
Lucy started laughing loudly, covering her mouth when she thought it might have been too loud, but it turns out no one had noticed at all, "You don't remember me? how rude that you can't remember giving out your number," the blonde watched the three little dot blinking at his reply.
"Lisanna is this you? This is a really lame prank. I'm totally going to clown you later." She flinched back at her prank being called lame, but she shook it off and fired back at him.
"WHO IS LISANNA? HOW MANY GIRLS DO YOU GIVE YOUR NUMBER TO?" Gray noticed her typing aggressively and asked what she was saying to him. "Oh I'm faking him giving his number to me."
Suddenly the table shook as Gray started to laugh then choke from laughing too hard, "Natsu giving his number out to a girl? Yeah right!"
"Ok then who are you?" kicking Gray under the table before leaning her elbows on the table with her phone between the two of them so she didn't his smirking face.
"Apparently, nobody important"
"Geez, don't be a grump." Was all he stated, and Lucy was thinking she was starting to lose him. she ahd to think fast before she lost him all together.
"Well sorry I'm upset that forgot about me! We were really getting to know each other that night…" Lucy tried but shook her head at the dumb reason for her to text him, slamming her head on the table now.
Her phone buzzed in her hand, swiftly looking up from the table to see his text, "Oh yeah? Then tell me what you know about me."
"Oh no. Gray help me!" Kicking him again while staring at her phone and waving her hand wildly.
"Why should I? You keep kicking me." he crossed his arms over his chest and leaning back in his chair while Juvia laid her head on his shoulder.
Placing her phone on the table to fold them in front of her, "Please, please, please! I won't kick you anymore." Giving him her best puppy dog eyes, she could.
"Okay, okay. Fine. What do you need?"
He then told her all about Natsu. His blue-haired cat named Happy and oddly severe motion sickness; you go to Magnolia high and have terrible grades. Reiterating everything back to Natsu as if she already knew.
"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?"
Lucy really wanted to mess with him when she smirked and texted him, "Who is this?"
"Huh?"
"Huh?" she quickly texted back to in a mocking tone.
"What is happening? I'm so confused."
"Don't be ;D" going to grab another piece of bread but her hands gripped at nothing and she noticed that there weren't any left and Levy's mouth hole was filled with them, "What the hell Levy?"
Lucy's phone buzzed again with another text, "I'm putting you as Weirdo until I get your name."
"That's rude!"
That's how the whole afternoon went as far as the four of them were concerned. Levy and Gajeel were arguing over any and everything. Lucy and Natsu were joking back and forth and for the couple, well they were quite into each other, literally, with their tongues.

It had been a week later when Natsu never stopped texting Lucy. Constantly asking who she was and how she got his number then it turned into helping with homework. Lucy wonders if this will take a better turn, she had started to become sorta kinda attached to his presence.
With Gray' help, Lucy told stories and events of their time at school. Lucy just had to laugh and cringe at the story about him setting a fire in the chemistry lab, which he tired to argue was a complete accident but she would not let him win that.
Her tired eyes stared back at the latest text for a little bit longer hoping her blush would go away. A small 'Sweet Dreams' staring back at her with so much feeling she didn't know she had.
Her phone fell out of her hand as she promptly fell back asleep.
So, that was the first chapter. I hope it was just the same as the old story but in my own style. I do want to add more detail to the story and more character development. Hope you enjoyed it! till next time!
