Okay so, I think I have some explaining to do. First of all...I literally posted this on Ao3 a week ago or more and then simply forgot to repost it here, which I apologize for (If anyone even reads these things). The second thing is...I know that I have been away for a while, but I have a perfectly good explanation for that. So back in august...I was writing this one story. I was so so proud of it. But then I lost it...all the work, everything...I was miserable, I remember crying myself to sleep for it. So after that I simply had no motivation to write. Then, school started again and I couldn't make time to focus on almost anything other than studying. But now I am here, finally with a new story. Since I am just coming back, I decided to write something fun and easy...soooo...I wrote some smut. It's some super romantic smut tho haha, don't worry. I decided I would definitely try to redo the fic that I lost, since that one meant the world to me and I simply feel like I really need to put it out there. I am working on another one right now...but maybe soon I try to write the old one again. Okay, enough rambling. I really hope you enjoy this...It's all fluff and smut and happy-what I am best at really. Damn I ramble a lot. Okay okaaay enjoy.
...
IN THE MIDST OF FIRE AND RAIN
The fireplace glowed with a radiant gold flame and brought a dancing glow into the heart of Mark and Lexie's home, as the two softly held eachother in the rainy autumn night, nothing but their naked bodies splurred at each other's disposal.
It had started to rain, they both realized. It could easily be heard. The drops beating against the windows, the wind picking up until it even howled through the night...
Yet they didn't mind. They could barely pay attention to it. They were too focused in eachother. They were enamored by the feeling of being so close, of the love they felt...It's as if there was nothing else going on in the world. Nothing. Just the two of them.
A pale silver of moonlight filtered through the window, just enough to illuminate the wonderful lines of Lexie's face.
"Mark?" She spoke, her voice coming out as nothing other but a slight whisper.
"Mhhmm...?" Mark murmured, as his mouth grew insistent against her skin, and as his tongue darted to tickle that one spot on her neck. She was sitting in his lap, her legs wrapped around his waist, enjoying the wonderful, blissful feeling of his mouth against her.
"We're naked..." She stated, allowing a slight moan to escape her lips, as she held onto him tighter, her breathing labored.
"I know..." He grinned at the suddenly spoken words, showing her how immensely he was enjoying their nakedness, how immensely he was enjoying her. And he kept on kissing her. He kept holding her. He kept devouring her slowly, only waiting for whatever she wished to say next.
"We're naked." She repeated gently, another labored breath coming out , as Mark's lips easily landed on one of her breasts. "-on the floor..." She gasped at the touch. "-we're on the floor Mark." And then all she could do was squeeze her eyes shut, as his hands tightened on her backside and as his lips traced the corner of her mouth.
"Isn't that the whole point?" Mark murmured.
Lexie barely had time to breathe, before his mouth came up to hers, and he chuckled as he kissed her. "-I brought the blankets and the pillows. What did you expect?" He laughed again. Laughed at how clueless she felt within the heat of the moment.
And then he touched her cheek, smoothing his thumb down the line of her jaw.
"I - I don't know." She let out, and only looked at him with that blissful smile, flushing and reddening and shaking her head in disbelief of the previously spoken words.
"You're beautiful." Lexie shook her head, desperate for his words.
"You are..." Mark confirmed, searching for her gaze. "-you're beautiful Lex." He moved in closer, his words now as much breath as sound, their foreheads touching, their fingers intertwined...
He pressed a single finger against her now messy bangs, and played with them for a single moment...And then he touched her lips, tickling the tender skin with his forefinger.
Yet all she could do was watch him. Watch him and love him.
"I love you..." She suddenly whispered, after a few minutes of nothing other but companionable silence. He held her tighter as soon as he heard - and then he tugged his head against her chest, repeating the same.
"Kiss me." Lexie begged.
He smiled. "You always order me around, don't you?"
"Just kiss me..." she begged yet again, as the wonderful fire blaze could be heard in nothing further then a few feet away. "Please..."
So he did.
The moment was electric, with only silence and fire rocking the air.
It was the sort of a kiss one initiates because one is overcome with passion and emotion and desire. Yet, anyway - it was a slower thing. There was something in the friction, the way they could hear and feel eachother's breaths. Something in the way Lexie held perfectly still, and how he could feel her heart pounding through her skin.
There was something in the fact that he knew it was her.
It was Lexie and it was him. It was him and Lexie.
It was them in the middle of their living room, on the floor, naked - wrapped up in eachother's arms next to the fireplace and fire itself.
It was them.
As simple as that.
Their mouths moved slowly, Lexie's palms gripping at his neck, as if she was holding onto life itself.
And maybe she had...
They kissed and they kissed, until Mark was nipping the corner of her mouth, softly tickling the very spot where her lips joined.
His tongue dipped and traced, savoring the mere essence of her.
And so it went on, until they both were spread out on the floor, surrounded by blankets and pillows, with him atop her, and her under, as she held yet so tightly, motioning for him to kiss her again.
"I missed you today..." Mark exclaimed in a hollow whisper, his lips tracing it's way down her rosy cheek. He kissed her there once, twice...
They were close - Lexie shuddered. She loved it when he was that close to her. When it felt as if they were one.
"Mhhhm..." It was all she could manage.
'I really did." He took a moment to look at her better. To touch her cheek and - just look at her. "My days are better when I see you more."
"I know. I missed you too." She said softly, quietly - simply frightened of talking in a higher volume. It just didn't feel like she should. "And well...you have me now." Her lips curved ever so slightly, as her cheeks turned furiously pink.
"You're right." Mark let out in a ragged breath. "I do." Her skin was flushed as he spoke, her breaths shallow and mouth dry.
She was wonderful, he realized.
He smiled at her, his palm never once letting go of that beautiful side of her face, stroking it with the most delicate of touches.
She was always so wonderful.
"Well you have me." Lexie whispered, placing a soft kiss at the top of his neck. "What are you gonna do about it?" Mark could feel her breath against his ear, so warm and shallow - and her lips, nibbling at him with the barest of smiles.
"Just..." He leaned forward, his eyes heavy-lidded and seductive as he said "-considering my options." He caressed her hair slowly, his fingers getting lost somewhere between the brown and the curls and the locks...
She was so lovely with her long chestnut hair, always easily cascading in soft ways down her back.
He brought his other finger to her lips, tracing the outline, then running the edge of his fingernail along her plump skin.
"And what -" Lexie exhaled softly, the big whoosh of air barely steadying her pulse "-are the options?" She spoke with a shaky breath.
To Mark - at that moment - she looked so vulnerable. Felt so vulnerable. Looking as if she might break at the merest touch.
It might have been the way she looked at him. Or it might have been the easy feeling of her skin against his own. Or maybe - maybe the fire that had made the atmosphere so odd. So different. Or the rain, or the-
Or it might have been all of it.
But she was happy. That was all that mattered.
"You'll see..."
And he kissed her. Right there, in the middle of her breasts, on that spot that tempted him so madly, he kissed her. He could feel the way her body shivered at the touch, feel the way she squeezed at his shoulders and hear the loud moan of pleasure that had come out, sounding like a plea.
He kissed her hard, sliding down her body, going lower and lower, as his mouth didn't leave her skin alone for even a moment.
"Mark," She let out in a single breath, the word sinking into him like a benediction.
He squeezed and he kissed and he played and he cupped - gently, reverently - in every way possible.
And he kept sliding down...
At first Lexie was confused - she wondered and wished to ask him...But then she realized. She realized and she let him continue, she let him kiss her and love her.
Love her in a way only he knew how to.
He slithered all the way down - and he spread her legs wide.
"This..." He whispered, his grin wicked, as he teased at her thigh, "-is option number one."
She chuckled at the sensation, her knees feeling like melted butter.
His hands held her firm.
He licked and kissed, and he tasted every inch, every tantalizing crevice. He was voracious, and he devoured her. He took full advantage, his tongue swooping in a dangerous dance, teasing and tempting, stroking her desire until her body grew weak.
This - he thought to himself - is sure to be one of his favorite things.
Lexie could barely breathe. She could barely breathe and she could barely make a single sound, as she was lost in the pleasure and melted into the arousal.
Her body felt on fire. It's as if she was burning into flames.
Her eyes were firmly shut and her mouth was wide open - yet all she could do was hold onto his hair - tightly, securely- she held onto him and just pushed him further into her - as if he could have been any closer than he already was.
At moments it felt as if he couldn't.
And as he was kissing her - as he was kissing the exact center of her being -she moaned, gasping and panting as his fingers dug deep into her thighs.
Her head, which had been thrown back, came down so she could look at him in the eye.
She was breathing erratically, her eyes still parted and her eyes glazed.
He loved her face. He loved every little curve of it. He loved the way the light would hit her cheekbones on the sun or just simply the shape of her jaw. And her smile - he loved her smile.
And he could see her now. Looking back at him. He could see her so perfectly.
But there was something about her at this very moment, when she was lost in her own passion, that took his breath away.
Mark then stopped - so abruptly, that it took Lexie a moment to realize what was happening, before their lips were once again joined together, kissing one another tenderly, with all the love they felt - and as she could feel him against her...teasing her, playing with her.
"And this..." he said, quickly, as he was catching his breath, "-is option number two."
He entered her - in a painfully slow motion. She gripped onto his shoulders with the highest of force as her legs instinctively went up and around his waist - and she was lost.
Her breath - it was stuck somewhere between her lungs and her mouth, and her voice - it cracked at the pleasure she was feeling with each and every one of his thrusts. With each time he moved his hips in that achingly familiar way, with each time he went deeper into her -and as she could feel him - feel him so close.
It wasn't too long before his tempo increased and their quiet moans, sighs and pants completely filled the entire room.
And as Mark moved and Lexie was losing her breath more and more, her heart rate increasing with each wonderful spasm she felt - he held her tighter. He held onto her waist and her buried his head into that place where her neck and shoulder were meeting - and he moaned with her.
He was exploding. Exploding with her. With only just that wonderful smell that had invaded him as he held her. The smell of her shampoo mixed with only the simple smell of her.
She always knew how to do that - drive him crazy without even the slightest of efforts.
It was fantastic really - what the love he felt for her could do to him.
His lips grew more demanding- there, on top of her neck - and hers parted, allowing him greater exploration. Her hand moved to his neck as she called out his name, revealing the soft heat of his skin.
Mark moved and Lexie moved beneath him, and they were both already so aroused.
He made a sound - guttural, primitive, entirely inarticulate. He was nearing his breaking point - and he knew very well - so was she.
"Lex-" He murmured, without any context whatsoever, only wishing to say her name and nothing more.
A scream ripped from her throat.
And the world quite simply fell apart.
He watched her, as her body straightened and then arched, her every muscle growing impossibly taut.
She screamed and she gasped - the sensation making her body numb.
And atop her, Mark exploded as well. His face contorted, he was pouring himself into her. Her name was on his lips, over and over, increasing in volume until it was the barest of whispers.
He fell on top of her and this time - she was the one who held him. She held him and she tried to steady her breathing- and she smiled.
She loved this man.
Loved him more than words could describe.
.
In a now cozy state, with the fireplace not letting go of its flame - when they cuddled up together - the rest of the world and its worries ceased to exist for a precious few moments.
Lexie and Mark were at eachother's sanctuary, eachother's safe cocoon - giving the sort of fortitude that supports a sustainable sense of joy.
Their faces were a mere millimeter away, as they used the tip of both of their fingers to stroke the side of eachother's faces. Their legs were tangled up, and the covers and pillows were everywhere, most of the objects now covering the under-half of their bodies.
"Is it always gonna be like this?" Lexie whispered, her voice almost silent, yet still enough for only him to hear.
She couldn't see much, but she could feel him, she could smell him, and she could hear his breathing swirling through the night air, gently caressing her cheek.
"What do you mean?" Mark questioned softly.
His hand now moved up to her hair, as he pushed her further into his chest in order to hug her. She hugged back and she held him tightly, taking a deep breath before saying...
"I don't know...This." Lexie murmured, and she could feel herself flush "You and I." She landed on 'Is it always gonna feel this way? Even in years from now..." She took a moment and bit her lip, wondering what the point of this was in the first place. "What do you think?"
"Well...It's been going that way for five years." Mark told her, snuggling her even closer "I still love you. Pretty sure nothing will change." He spoke with such easiness. Without a single doubt.
"Yeah, I guess so..." She agreed, knowing for certain that - really - they will always be happy. They've been through enough together to just simply be certain about that one thing "And now I have this beautiful ring to show for it, don't I?" She lifted her hand up in the air, examining the jewelry as if it was her first time seeing it. It doesn't matter that she has been wearing it for 2 months now, or that she has been looking at it any chance she got.
One large stone sat at the center of the ring, while the rest of the band was covered by many small stones.
And Lexie knew that.
Yet it couldn't stop her from looking - at least one more time.
"You'll have another one in just two months." Mark reminded her, his nose getting lost somewhere between her hair and the smell of her shampoo.
Lexie then frowned.
"I don't wanna change this one...Can engagement rings still be kept after the wedding?"
"Who cares." Mark mumbled into her hair "Do whatever you want."
"Yeah, you're right. This one is beautiful," she said as she nodded her reply, making his head back away from hers "I don't want it off."
Mark then lifted himself up, putting his head onto his palm, his elbow resting onto the surface of the pillow.
And he looked at her.
"The only thing I care about is spending the rest of my life with you, Lex." He spoke, and he got closer with each word he said. Closer to her face - to her lips. "You can do whatever you wish to do with your rings." He said, in what seemed to be the barest of whispers.
And then their lips touched again.
With deliberate slowness, he brushed his lips back and forth across hers, the small hint of friction sending shivers and tingles spiraling through her body.
His hand pulled her towards him - and he kissed her.
For minutes and minutes - all he could do was just kiss her. Hold her and kiss her and - wish to never let go.
"I love you." It was all Lexie could manage once their lips were apart. She said it in one single breath, her voice crack as she stared up at him - and swallowed. She swallowed hard, loving the feel of him there - just at that perfect little spot.
"I know."
"Don't do that." She laughed as she mumbled the words.
"Do what?" Mark asked, pretending to be oblivious.
"Just - tell me you love me back."
"You know that I do." He teased. He knew she hated it - and he did it anyway.
"Yeah, but you could say it." Lexie rolled her eyes. She loved him - but oh lord, he could be a frustrating man.
"I told you ten times today."
"Mark, are you seriously-"
But she was interrupted by his lips, yet again, this time with his mouth more insistent. His tongue darted to tickle the corner of her month, and he flipped her around, positioning her atop him.
"I love you." He said loudly, once be backed away from her lips, so abruptly that Lexie felt lost "You're my everything." He yelled, his lips forming the most honest of smiles "You're the person I am gonna spend the rest of my life with." He yelled again as if wishing to tell the world - to scream from the rooftops - what he felt.
"I am gonna marry you." And then he whispered, and he touched her bangs, putting them back in place.
"I love you, Lexie Grey."
He touched her lips. The motion sent ripples of pleasure throughout her, right down to the pit of her stomach.
And she grinned, her lips curving ever so slightly.
"I know..."
