Lupin and Tonks are so cute...

And J.K Rowling KILLED them...

...Right after giving them a CHILD...

...With all due respect, Ms J.K Rowling...

*Sniffs*

...You could have at least let one of them live...

*Cries*

'Lupin.' One of the masked man hissed as he casually shot a curse at the people. A girl wearing a blue nightdress screamed as sparks flew from his wand. Remus Lupin pushed the terrified student out of the way, putting himself between the gathered children and the death eater.

'Alastor.' He said calmly, staring at the man who was once a student, like him. Without warning, the man called Alastor snapped his wand up sharply, green light blasting from it.

'Stupify!' Remus answered, shimmering red meeting the green. The two shades of light battled in the air for a while, two wizards struggling to win. Finally, the green broke free, the killing curse speeding over the non-fatal spell.

'Shit.' Remus muttered and dodged the light, letting it sail harmlessly over his head. The cluster of students around him backed off.

'Go!' He yelled at them, locked in a deadly battle with the death eater. Percy Weasley appeared behind, his face bleeding from a cut.

'Take them with you.' Remus told him, while leaning behind a broken statue to avoid curses.

'But-' Percy started to say something, probably about joining the fight. To say the truth, he did want to keep Percy out of the fight. Despite being a legal adult, he was still young.

'Percy, evacuate them, now.' The young man bit his lips and shook his wand.

'Protego.' Blue-white light shot from it, a shield forming in front of him. That would protect them from most spells.

'Follow me!' The Weasley boy led the students out of the battlefield. After they safely got out, Remus spun around to see Alastor's wand in his face.

'Lupin.' The man's mask was dangling down his neck now. 'You should have kept attention.' Somehow, he didn't feel that scared of the wand aimed at his head. Instead, all Remus felt was calm. A flash of a witch sped past Alastor, shooting lights from her wand. He smiled. Maybe his end was a bit farther away from now.

'And you should keep attention too.' He told they startled person as a beam of red energy hit him on the heart. He slid down as if an invisible line was cut from his head. Tonks was standing right behind him with a furious look on her scrunched up face. Her ever-changing hair was a dark pink now, showing the anger she felt.

'Here I am.' She muttered. 'Always saving your ass.' Lupin chuckled and took her hand. She yanked him closer and kissed his lips passionately. The ashes of fire and dust landed on their hair, but none of them cared. All that mattered, was each other. She tasted of... peppermint. For a very short second, all his surroundings disappeared, and all he felt was peppermint. The idea that this might be the last time kissing made them desperate. When they broke apart, a silver of concern passed his face.

'I thought I told you to stay at the school grounds.' Her eyes were searching around wildly. It was a battle, after all. Tonks smirked and flicked her wand, dousing the flames in a corner.

'Did you expect me to?' Her husband groaned and shook his head.

'Probably not.' Remus agreed and held her hand tightly. 'Time to go.' They ran back into the mess of blood and light. They both spotted a young boy, the age of Harry, leaning on the wall, shakily throwing spells at a woman, obviously using lethal spells. But before any of them could go and help the student, a dark haired woman approached the couple. Bellatrix Lestrange. Remus squeezed Tonks' hand, anger rising in his mind. That bitch was dead.

'Werewolf.' She spat in a disgusted tone. 'And my sister's daughter. How lovely.' Her predatory eyes glinted. 'Time for you to join your other friends, don't you think so?' Lupin held up his wand.

'You have no right to talk about them.' She laughed and lifted her wicked wand, a spell already in her mind.

'Crucio!' He dodged, a counterattack speeding towards her. Lupin looked back to look for Tonks, but found nobody there. She was fighting another man just a bit behind. There was no way to help her, not now, and Remus knew that. He turned to stare at Bellatrix's mad giggle. She was so crazy. It went on like that. She wasn't an easy match. Of course, Voldemort wouldn't have made someone not good as his second in command. A jolt of pain hit him as one of her hexes hit his arm. Another masked figure appeared from nearly nowhere, making it two to three. Things weren't getting better. Tonks and Remus stood back to back, using every single spell they knew to fend them off. However, they were failing.

'Remus.' She called softly, over the whooshing and sparking. 'I love you.' He got what she was saying. It was the last way, the final thing they could do for the next generation of wizards and witches.

'You know.' He told her as they both prepared for the impact. 'I'm not sure if there is a second world, the place of the dead.' They lifted their wands in harmony, readying one, single, powerful spell. It didn't need words. Their sheer will would do the job for them. Remus Lupin was glad. He wasn't certain that he could say out those words without breaking down in tears.

'But even if there isn't...' Tonks looked around to check for any stray students. None, and she gave him the nod. Bellatrix's Lestrange realized what they were doing and screamed out.

'...I'll love you, wherever we are. Always.' And their wands let out a magnificent glow, shooting golden light from them. The shimmer grew and grew, until it blew up, making a booming explosion. They say that when someone dies, they see their life in front of their eyes. Remus surely felt that, as his fingers slid from Tonks' hands.

He thought of James, himself and Sirius, roaming the school.

He remembered seeing Harry, and thinking of James.

He memorized the look on Tonks' face when they married.

He could still feel the pride when Harry stood up to all the obstacles laid in front of him.

And then he saw Teddy, their child's face. He was so vivid, clear, exactly the same lovely boy they kissed goodbye before coming here.

Finally, his mind faintly landed on the small picture they took after Teddy was born.

Himself, Tonks, and Teddy hugging tightly. Some part in his mind told him that Teddy was going to grow up as an orphan, like Harry did. But he knew better. Teddy Lupin was an orphan. But he would grow up in a safe world, with his parents' friends.

Thanks to none other, but himself and Tonks.
