Chapter 1: A New Path
Part 1: The Ebon Hawk
Peach Creek, Georgia January18, 2003
We go to a small Cul-de-sac where we see six teens standing in the backyard of a house.
Ed Lancer; Age: 17
Appearance: 6 feet and 3 inches tall with tanned skin and shoulder length red hair. He is wearing a light blue and white Hawaiian Shirt with red shorts and sandals.
Eddward (AKA Double D) Felger; Age: 17
Appearance: 5 feet and 8 inches tall with slightly pale skin and short black hair. He no longer wears his sock hat. He is wearing a orange T-Shirt with blue jeans and black loafers and a white lab coat.
Eddy McGee; Age: 18
Appearance: 5 feet and 10 inches tall with slightly tanned skin and black hair in a mullet. He is wearing a black T-shirt with a black leather jacket, blue jeans brown boots.
Nazz Van Bartonschmeer; Age: 18
Appearance: 5 feet and 9 inches tall with long blond hair in a ponytail. She is wearing a dark blue tank top and white Capri pants with black and white sneakers.
Kevin Rogers; Age: 17
Appearance: 5 feet and 10 inches tall with short Red hair in a spiky hair style. He is wearing a green sweater with black sweat pants and green sneakers.
Johnny 2x4; Age: 17
Appearance: 5 feet and 8 inches tall with tanned skin and a shaved head. He's wearing a black T-shirt with blue jeans and sandals.
"Hey! You forgot about Plank, Wood hater!" Johnny shouted pointing at a 2x4 with a crayon drawn smiley face on it
"Johnny! Don't argue with the Narrator!" Kevin said
"So why are we here?" Nazz asked the three Ed's
"Yeah! What's the huge secret you wanted to show us?" Kevin asked
"I'm glad you asked. Pull the lever, Ed!" Eddy said
"Aye, Aye! Eddy!" Ed said as he pulled one of the two levers
Only for Eddy to fall through a trap door screaming, "WRONG LEVER!" followed by an "OOF!"
Eddy climbed out from the trap door and asked, "Why do we even have that lever?"
"That's actually a good question." Double D realized
Eddy walked over and pulled the other lever. Suddenly the ground shook for a bit before a spaceship came out from underneath a huge door in the ground. It's length is 30 meters and has a red and rust colored paint job.
"Whoa!" Nazz, Kevin and Johnny said in awe
"Lady and Gentlemen, Say hello to the Ebon Hawk!" Eddy said
We see a ramp lower down and Eddy asked, "Care for a tour?"
Inside the Ebon Hawk we see the Ed's guide Nazz, Kevin and Johnny around the ship.
They enter a room and Double D said, "This is the common area. It's for planning, computer access, Video game and media access, mess hall and more." He pointed at a small room and said, "That is the kitchen."
We now go to a small dorm area with 5 beds and a bathroom area.
"This is the port dormitory. Complete with one bathroom with 3 toilets, three sinks and a communal shower area for five." Double D said
We go to another room where we see it is another dorm area.
"And this is the Starboard dormitory."
We go to a bigger room with crates and stuff.
"This is the cargo area."
We go to a small room with two medical beds.
"This is the Med lab."
We now go to what is the biggest room on the ship.
"And here is what we call the Gate room." Double D showed
We see a roughly 18 foot diameter ring shape device with nine chevrons and 36 symbols that is random dots, lines, squiggles, Etc.
"The Gate room?" Johnny asked
"See that ring shaped device?" Double D asked, "That is a Stargate. Translated from an alien Language. It can dial any planet with a Stargate within 500 Light years of the Ebon Hawk's Position."
"Basically it can take you to another planet." Eddy said
"Cool!" Johnny said
"Does it even work?" Kevin asked
"Yes... It's works. Ed can assist to that." Double D said
We go to the front yard where we see a car pull into the driveway of Double D's house. The car was turned off and a man exited the car. His name is Jay Felger.
He closed the door and was about to head to the front door when he notices something. He looked in the backyard and sees the Ebon Hawk.
"What in the...?" Felger asked
We go the the common area where we see the kids enter the room.
"And we conclude this tour by entering the Common area again. So what do you guys think?" Eddy asked
"Cool ship!" Johnny said
"Yeah... And you've actually flew it?" Kevin asked
"Well, we never tested the FTL drive. but we do take the Ebon Hawk to our sun to recharge the power reserves." Double D said
"In fact, we're about to take the Ebon Hawk on another trip to our sun!" Eddy said, "Anyone want to go for a ride?"
"Yeah!" The three kids said They then followed the Ed's to the Cockpit. Meanwhile, Jay Felger had just entered the Ebon Hawk and started looking around.
In the Cockpit we see Double D and Eddy in the front, Nazz and Johnny in the second row and Ed and Kevin in the third and final row.
"Closing the ramp and turning on the Internal Dampeners." Double D said
In the Gate room we see Felger looking at the Stargate in awe before he noticed the Ramp had closed and the outer door closing too. "Oh my..." Felger said
"Priming the sub-lights and the thrusters." Eddy said as he did his job
"And... Launch!" Double D said pressed a button
Outside we see the Ebon Hawk lift up into the sky and the landing gears retracted into the ship before the ship quickly flew up into space.
On the Bridge we see the kids watching as Eddy and Double D Piloted the Ebon Hawk. The other kids noticed there was no G force as the Ebon Hawk left the Atmosphere.
In the Gate room we see Felger looking out one of the small windows of the Ebon Hawk's Gate room as the ship passed the moon.
Back on the Bridge, we see Double D putting in some coordinates to what looked like a red dwarf star.
"What'cha doing Double D?" Johnny asked
"We might've fibbed a little on a certain topic. We're not going to our sun." Double D said
"Huh?" Nazz asked
"Wait... We're doing... THE TEST?!" Ed asked excited
"Test? What Test?" Kevin asked
"We're are going to test the FTL Drive for the first time. See if it will work." Eddy said
Eddy pressed a few buttons and said, "Primary and Secondary shields online."
"Shields?" Kevin asked
"Force fields around the ship. Designed for Protection against asteroids, extreme amounts of heat and the strain of the ship being in FTL." Double D said
"The strain?" Nazz asked "As far as I know there is no materiel that can withstand being in FTL. The secondary shield should protect us from being... Disintegrated." Double D said as he finished putting in the coordinates
"SHOULD?!" Kevin asked
"We have no other way to test it OK?!" Eddy said
"Coordinates punched in." Double D said
"FTL Scanners and Star Map online." Ed said
"Scanner?" Johnny asked
"It's helps the Ebon Hawk see where it is going while in FTL. What the scanner will see then be recorded into the Star Map for future references." Double D said
"Huh?" Johnny asked as he and Plank looked at each other
"FTL in 3... 2... 1!" Double D said as he pressed a button
We see the Ebon Hawk enter FTL by glowing blue and at the exact same time we see it go really fast into space.
Inside the Ebon Hawk, we see Johnny had covered his and Plank's eyes before they realized they're still alive and in one piece.
"Are we still here?" Johnny asked
"I think so." Kevin said
"It worked... The shields and the FTL Drive is working!" Double D said
"Cool! We're traveling faster than light!" Ed said excited
"We should arrive at Proxima Centauri in an hour." Double D said as he got up from the controls
"Proxima what?" Kevin asked
"Proxima Centauri's is the closest red dwarf star from Earth." Nazz said
Double D was about to leave the cockpit when we see Jay Felger walk into the room scaring the kids.
"AHH!" Jay Screamed
"AHH!" The kids screamed too
"Uncle Jay?! What are you doing here?!" Double D asked
"I could ask you the same thing!" Jay said
"Uncle Jay?" Kevin asked
"Uhh... Guys this is my Uncle Jay Felger. Jay these are my friends, Ed, Eddy, Nazz, Kevin and Johnny." Double D introduced
"Hello." Jay said, "Now... How did you get on board this ship?"
"We found it in the junkyard and spent a month fixing it!" Ed said
"You fixed a spaceship?" Jay asked
Ed nodded.
"Welcome to the Ebon Hawk." Eddy said nervously
We see the Ebon Hawk in FTL...
We go to the Common area where we see Double D, Ed, Nazz, Johnny and Kevin explaining to Jay about the Ebon Hawk.
"You spent a month fixing a spaceship which is now traveling to Proxima Centauri in hyperspace?" Felger asked
"Yes and no." Double D said
"Say what?" Jay asked confused
"Yes, we found and repaired the ship. Yes, we are going to Proxima. No, we're not traveling in hyperspace." Double D said
Jay and the Kids looked at Double D confused.
"Hyperspace is a type of engine that travels faster than light in a place called Subspace. The Ebon Hawk doesn't have that kind of engine. We're traveling faster than light in Normal space." Double D explained
"Faster than light... In normal space?" Jay asked amazed
"Lady and Gentlemen. We're approaching Proxima and will be turning off the FTL Drives right... NOW!" Eddy said over the loudspeaker
We see the Ebon Hawk drop out of FTL in front of the Proxima red dwarf star.
In the cockpit we see Eddy piloting the Ebon Hawk towards the star. He pressed a few buttons and activated the thrusters to slow down the ship as it headed for the red dwarf star.
Jay, Double D and Ed entered the cockpit and Jay asked, "So Eddward told me that the Ebon Hawk is Solar powered and that we're diving the ship into the star."
"Yep... After we recharge we can use to FTL Drive to go back to Earth after the cool down." Eddy said
"Cool down?" Jay asked
"Yeah. The drive needs to cool down after ever use to prevent damage. The cool down time will very on how fast and far the Ebon Hawk went. We'll be able to back into FTL a few minutes after we replenish the reserves." Double D said
We see the Ebon Hawk enter the star. On the bottom on the ship, we see pyramid shaped devices lowered from the ship and collect the solar plasma. The Ebon Hawk exited the star five minutes later once the tanks were full.
"See, nothing to it!" Eddy said as he pressed a few buttons
"The tanks are full. I'll get the FTL Drive..." Double D said "Hey Guys!" Johnny said as he ran into the cockpit
"What is it Johnny boy?" Eddy asked
"The Stargate is spinning..." Johnny said
In the gate room we see the Stargate spinning. The chevrons and 8 of the 36 symbols lit up.
The Ed's, Jay and Johnny entered the Gate room where we see Kevin and Nazz at the computer.
"What's going on?" Eddy asked
"The thing started spinning as soon as the ship left the star." Kevin said as Double D went to the computer
"Oh my! The Gate is dialing!" Double D said
"Where is it dialing to?" Eddy asked
"Earth." Double D answered
Earth; Stargate Command...
At Stargate Command we see the Iris closed as a incoming wormhole was established.
"Incoming Wormhole!" Walter said
As soon as he said that he noticed the screens change and glitch.
"What the?" Walter said confused
We see General George Hammond, Samantha Carter and Colonel Jack O'Neill arrive in the Control room.
"What's going on?" Hammond asked
"I don't know! The controls aren't responding!" Walter said
Suddenly we see a screen show a loading bar with the words, "UPLOAD IN PROGRESS."
"Upload?" Carter asked as she looked at the screen
"Carter?" O'Neill asked
"The Computer is copying and uploading every gate address on file." Carter said
"Just the Gate addresses?" O'Neill asked
"Where is it being uploaded to?" Hammond asked
Suddenly the computers turned off for a few seconds before machine code was displayed on the screens. After a few more seconds we see the computers turn off again. After another few more seconds the gate shut down. The computers turned back on shortly after wards.
Carter looked through the computer and after a couple of minutes she said, "Whoa!"
Back on the Ebon Hawk we see Double D looking at the Computer and after a few minutes he said, "Whoa!"
"What is it?" Eddy asked
"The Ship seams to have downloaded Stargate Addresses to it's database from a computer. It also seams to to have uploaded a program to the same computer too." Double D said
"What kind of program?" Jay asked
"If I'm reading this right, it uploaded a nine symbol address and the capability to dial said address." Double D said
"What?" Eddy asked
"A nine symbol address?" Jay asked
"The Address to dial in the Ebon Hawk." Double D said
Back in Stargate Command we see SG-1 and General Hammond at the debriefing room.
"Someone dialed in and took Stargate addresses from the computer?" Jonas asked
"How is that possible?" Teal'c asked
"That's not all it did. Whoever or whatever dialed in uploaded and installed a program into the computer along with a new Stargate Address." Carter said
"As you know a Stargate need 7 symbols to dial another planet inside the Stargate Network. 8 to dial another galaxy." Carter explained
"Yeah, and?" O'Neill asked Carter pulled up a screen which showed a 9 symbols.
"This is a nine symbol address." Carter said
Daniel looked at the address and said, "This doesn't make sense."
"Daniel?" O'Neill asked
"The address... It doesn't look like it leads anywhere." Daniel said
"On the other hand we never seen a nine chevron address before." Carter said, "Only way to find out is to attempt to dial this address."
"Agreed..." Hammond said
Back on the Ebon Hawk, we see the Ed's, Jay, Nazz, Kevin and Johnny at the common area looking at a holographic 3D display.
"Luckily the FTL Drives will be cooled down in 5 minutes." Double D said
"Hey I just realized… How could there be another Stargate on Earth?" Johnny asked
"Jay?" Double D asked
"Well..." Jay said before he proceeded to explain about Stargate Command
"So the US Government has a Stargate?" Kevin asked
"Yes..." Jay said, "But the Stargate on the Ebon Hawk is different than the ones we've seen so far."
"Which makes sense." Double D said
"It does?" Jay asked
"Well, the Stargates in the Milky way uses symbols based on constellations as seen from earth. The Ebon Hawk uses a unique algorithm based on the any DHD's within 500 light years of the ships position." Double D said
"The Ebon Hawk's Stargate is like a Cell phone. The ones on planets are like landlines." Eddy simplified
Back in Stargate Command we see Sgt. Walter dialing the Ninth Chevron Address.
"Chevron 7 Encoded." Walter said
We see some men put a MALP in front of the ramp leading to the Stargate.
"Chevron 8 Encoded." Walter said
We see Hammond and SG-1 standing in the control room.
The Point of Origin finally reached the last chevron and said chevron lit up.
"Chevron Nine is Locked!" Walter said
We see a wormhole establish right after Walter said that.
Back on the Ebon Hawk, we see the Stargate spin for a few seconds before stopping and after a noise a silver colored wormhole was established. We see the crew arrive in the Gate room.
Double D looked at the computer and said, "Incoming wormhole."
On Earth, we see the MALP go up the ramp and enter the event horizon of the wormhole.
"MALP is on route." Walter said
We see the MALP exit the Ebon Hawk's Stargate.
"It's an Evil Robot from the 5th beyond!" Ed yelled
"Relax Ed! It's just a MALP!" Jay said
"Awfully big for a mouse." Ed said stupidly
"Receiving MALP Telemetry." Walter said
We see the screen display the Ebon Hawk's Gate room where we see Ed bowing down to the MALP along with Double D and Eddy face palming themselves.
"All mighty mutant robot mouse! I am at your command!" Ed said
"Ed, It's not a mouse! It's a robot probe the SGC uses to check the environment for habitability!" Jay said
"FELGER?!" O'Neill asked shocked He pressed a button and asked/demanded, "What are you doing on that planet? And how did you get there?!"
"Colonel O'Neill?!" Felger asked
"This can't be right." Carter said
"Carter?" O'Neill asked
"The wormhole leads to Proxima Cenrauri." Carter said
"Huh?" O'Neill asked
"It's a red dwarf star closest to earth." Carter said
"But from what I have read. There are no Stargates there." Jonas said
"Exactly!" Carter said
"We can explain!" Eddy said
A while later, we see the SG-1 exit the Ebon Hawk's Stargate where we see Jay, Eddy and Double D waiting.
"Howdy!" O'Neill said
"Welcome onboard the Ebon Hawk." Eddy said
"Thanks glad to be… Wait, Did you say "Onboard"?" O'Neill asked
We go to the common area where we see The Ed's, Jay, Kevin, Johnny and Nazz explain themselves to SG-1. From The Ed's finding the Ebon Hawk under a pile of junk in the junkyard, buying it for a dollar, and spent the last three weeks repairing the ship. They explained that they were testing the FTL Drives and recharging the Power reserves by using the Proxima's star. Nazz, Johnny and Kevin explained they were offered a ride on the ship.
Felger explained he was visiting his nephew Double D when he noticed the Ebon Hawk parked in the backyard as he arrived. He had entered the ship right before they launched the ship and entered FTL.
SG-1 listened carefully. Samantha was interested in the fact that three boys found and managed to fix the ship. Along with the FTL Drives and the fact that the ship is Solar powered among other things.
When they were done, O'Neill had only one question to ask the Ed's.
"You three are really named, Ed?" O'Neill asked
"That's your question?" Sam asked
"How did you managed to repair this vessel?" Teal'c asked
"Double D is a genius and Ed and I took auto repair and electrical classics in high school." Eddy said
"And you are how old?" O'Neill asked
"We're all between the Ages of 17 and 18." Double D said
"And we all graduated High School!" Ed said
"Yes. We graduated last year and are on a year off to decide our futures." Double D said
"And we might've found it." Eddy said
O'Neill and Sam looked at each other.
We go to the Gate room where we see Sam and O'Neill in the debriefing room along with Hammond and Colonel Chekov. Sam and O'Neill had just finished explaining what happened on the Ebon Hawk.
"How can you dial a Stargate in a spaceship?" Chekov asked
"It's actually really simple. The Ebon Hawk's Stargate works by connecting to Destination's Stargate using it's DHD via subspace. It's like using a Cellphone to call a Landline. Now... Due to fail safes and power saving. the Ebon Hawk's Stargate has to be with 500 light years of the target gate." Carter said
"So that Stargate has a limited range." Hammond said
"Well... Kind of. I looked at the nine chevron address on our computers and the Ebon Hawk's. Yes, while it's true it has to within 500 light years to dial earth. But, that not a problem for us. We can dial the Ebon Hawk using the Nine chevron address no matter where it is in the galaxy." Carter said "It's a code. The address for the Ebon Hawk is a code. It's not based on a fixed address."
"A code?" Hammond asked
"Yes, and even if the Goa'uld got the EbonHawk's address. They still wouldn't be able to dial in. At least not from a DHD." Carter said
"Why not?" Hammond asked
"The address has to be exact. Including Earth's Point of Origin. If you dialed this address but used another Point of Origin…" Sam said
"It would fail to connect." Hammond said
"Yes." Carter said
"But if you went through another planet through the Ebon Hawk, how are you suppose to dial back?" Hammond asked
"Eddward thought of that..." O'Neill said as he pulled out what looked like a small Game boy advance device. (The Mini version)
"That is a Stargate Remote. It can be used for three things. Dial the Ebon Hawk off world if it is within 500 light years of said planet and as a Kino remote." Carter said
"Kino Remote?" Chekov asked
"Their version of the MALP." O'Neill said
"You said there were three functions?" Hammond asked
"It can also dial other Stargates in our Galaxy with out needing to press buttons on the DHD." Carter said, "Like a TV Remote."
"Apparently, Eddward might show Carter their computers and how to build these things." O'Neill said
"Might?" Hammond asked
"Teal'c and Jonas are talking to them, but they aren't eager on giving up the ship." Carter said
"They claim they bought it and it's legally theirs." O'Neill said
"Actually sir… That is true." Carter said
"What?!" O'Neill shouted
"I checked the junkyard where they found it… The owner said they did bought it. For 1 whole dollar." Carter said
"1 dollar for a real used spaceship? That is a good deal!" O'Neill admitted
"Should we try to take them back by force?" Carter asked with hesitation
"Actually, I have a better idea." Hammond said
Back on the Ebon Hawk, we see the Stargate activate as it received an incoming wormhole.
About a minute later, Carter, O'Neill and Hammond exit the Stargate. After the Gate disengaged, steam exits from the sides of the Stargate.
"Don't worry. It's normal for this gate." Carter said
We then see Double D enter the room and said, "Welcome back, guys! Who's your friend?"
"Eddward… This is General Hammond of the SGC. Hammond, this is Jay Felger's nephews, Eddward." Carter said
"So… Want to give up the ship now?" O'Neill asked
"Honestly… Most of us kind of forgotten about that. Right now… They're in the cargo room watching Ed and Teal'c fight hand to hand. So far neither is yielding…" Double D said
"This I got to see…" O'Neill said
In the cargo room, we see Ed and Teal'c are indeed doing hand to hand combat.
Kevin, Eddy and Johnny are enjoying the fight, Nazz watched disinterested, Jay had his eyes covered and Jonas observed the fight.
O'Neill, Carter, Hammond and Double D enter the cargo bay.
"Did I miss anything?" Double D asked
"Nope!" Eddy said
Ed did an uppercut on Teal'c.
"How long has this been going on?" Carter asked
"They stared 10 minutes after you left." Double D deadpanned
"No breaks and no mercy!" Eddy said
"Both of you stand down!" Hammond ordered
They stopped and faced the general.
"My apologies, General Hammond." Teal'c said
"Sorry, General Ham Radio!" Ed said stupidly
Luckily Double D already told Hammond about Ed mispronouncing names, so he took it with no offence.
"Why are two fighting?" Hammond asked
"He told me to." Ed pointed to Eddy who whistled innocently
"I have to admit, while Ed isn't very wise… He is as strong as a Jaffa and has a good heart." Teal'c said
"We need to talk…" Hammond said
