Being alone with no one to love leaves a large hole in the heart. We talk about the one who got away all the time. The feeling of loneliness and emptiness that they leave. How we lose our self worth without them. How things will never be the same again.

Chi-Chi sighed sadly as she looked out the window of her room. She couldn't help but feel jealous of the people she saw. All happy and in love. Laughing without a care in the world as long as they are together.

She turned her head from the view when she heard her phone ring. She picked it up and saw it was her friend, Bulma.

'What does she want now?" Chi-Chi asked herself before answering the phone.

"Hello?..."

"Chi-Chi you picked up," Bulma said as little surprised. Ever since what happened they didn't talk that much mainly because Chi-Chi distanced herself from everyone she knew.

"Yeah what is it? " Chi-Chi asked.

"Oh, so I am having a birthday party this weekend and I was hoping you would come," Bulma said.

Chi-Chi sighed and said, "Look Bulma I don't feel like going anywhere or being around people at the moment."

"Is this about Goku? " Bulma asked.

"Yes, I don't think I can face him," Chi-Chi said with a cracking voice.

"Chi it's been over a year, you should be over him by now. Come to my party and I will introduce you to other..."

"I don't want anyone else Bulma! I don't think I can take this again! What don't you understand? I don't want any of this!" Chi-Chi yelled with tears in her eyes.

Bulma sighed sadly as she stayed quiet. She was only trying to help, she didn't mean to make her cry.

"I'm sorry Chi-Chi, "

"No I am sorry for yelling, you were only trying to help. Look I gotta go, bye, "

Chi-Chi hung up the phone and sat on her bed. She brought her knees to her chest and hugged them. She buried her face between them as she silently cried.

After a while she heard a knock on the door. She looked up and saw her youngest son standing by the door with a concerned look.

"You okay mom? " He asked.

"Yeah, mommy was just letting her emotions out, don't worry I am fine," she said.

Goten wanted to argue, but decided against it. She will just deny it. She was good at acting like she is okay. He decided to go do his homework while she made his lunch.

Chi-Chi sighed as she thought about what what Bulma said. Maybe she did need to see other people. Maybe it will help her to see what the world around her has in store for her.

"Goten do you wanna go shopping with me so we can go to Bulma's party? " She asked her son who was writing his homework away from her.

"Um... sure, I didn't think you would want to go, " Goten said happily.

"Yeah, but I changed my mind, so will be going with you.

"Okay mommy, whatever makes you happy, "

Maybe this was what she needed.

Soon the weekend arrived and Chi-Chi was getting ready for the party. Knowing Bulma, her party will be over the top.

She decided to wear a royal blue halter straps tight fitting dress that reached a few centimetres above her knees with a half open back. She decided to leave her hair down for once. She wore a two inched blue sandal heel with blue sapphires that she got on her birthday. Once she was satisfied with her look she walked out of her room and found Goten waiting for her. She grabbed her present and walked out of the palace.

The two decided to fly to the city with her plane so the can get there faster. After twenty minutes they got to Capsule Corp. Chi-Chi landed her plane and turned it back into a capsule.

They walked to the front door where they met Mrs Briefs who let them in. She showed them where the party was before she walked away.

Chi-Chi sighed looking at the crowd of people. All of Goku's friends and some of Bulma's friends. She noticed that Goten had already ran away to his friend. She took a deep breath before she walked towards everyone.

"Hey guys, " she said as everyone turned to her.

They were all shocked to see her. She didn't come to parties anymore every since what happened.

"Chi-Chi! We missed you so much, you look great by the way, " Bulma squealed as she embraced her.

Chi-Chi smiled as everyone said how much they missed her. She felt loved. She talked to her friends for a while before Bulma dragged her off to meet people.

"And this is Zachary Miles, he is the CEO of Milestone Industries. Zach this may good friend Chi-Chi So... I mean Mao, " Bulma introduced her to a very handsome man with emerald green eyes and dirty blond hair.

"It's an honour to meet you miss Mao," Zach said with a charming smile.

"The honour is all mine, and please call me Chi-Chi, " She smiled.

"My my my I must say Bulma this is has to be most beautiful woman you have introduced me to. As Bulma has said I am Zachary Miles, but you can call me Zach, " Zach said.

"Oh more than me," Bulma teased.

"As shocking as it is, yes," he said as took her hand and kissed it.

"My my what a gentleman, " Chi-Chi said with a blush.

"Why thank you. I must say you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, "

"Flattery will get you so far Mr Miles,"

"It's not flattery, just the honest truth. "

Chi-Chi giggled making the handsome man smirk. Bulma made an excuse to get away to leave the two to get to know each other.

"Would you like a drink? " he asked and Chi-Chi nodded.

They walked to the bar and ordered some drinks. They talked for a while as they got to know each. Talking about funny things that have happened to them and best off all enjoying each other's company. They were having so fun that Chi-Chi forgot about what had happened, until...

"Hey guys, sorry I am late, "

Everyone turned to see Goku standing in the middle of the room with a huge grin on his face. Everyone looked happy to see him except for her. She held back tears as she saw her friends shower him with attention.

"Who is that? " Zach asked.

"Goku. He's my... uh.. ex husband, " she said sadly.

"Ex? " he raised his brow.

Chi-Chi nodded and said, "Yeah we were married for 18 years then about over a year ago we broke up. "

"I am sorry, " he said.

"It doesn't matter, it's not like it was that great, but I do miss him," Chi-Chi sighed sadly. What a way to ruin a mood.

Goku looked at his friends as they all gathered around him. He was happy to see them. It has been a while since he had seen them every since he and Chi-Chi broke up.

"Goku who is your friend?" Bulma asked.

Goku turned and looked at the pretty blonde haired with ocean blue eyes. He smiled sadly and turned back to his friends.

"Guys this is my... girlfriend, Cate, " he said.

"Oh it's good you made another friend Goku, " Krillin said with a laugh.

"Krillin I mean like girlfriend girlfriend, " Goku clarified shocking everyone.

"When did you get a girlfriend? " Bulma asked.

"About six months ago, " he said.

"Oh we'll are happy for Goku, " Krillin said.

"Well it's nice to meet you guys, I have heard so much about you, " Cate said happily.

Chi-Chi heard everything. Goku moved on. It broke her heart hearing this. She held back the tears as stared at her drink. Zach sat next to her as he silently comfort her.

The party continued without any awkwardness. Goku saw Chi-Chi sitting by the bar talking to some guy. She looked happy. He smiled sadly before walking to the bathroom. Little did he know that a few minutes later Chi-Chi excused herself to the bathroom.

On his way out he bumped into her. He quickly caught her before she hit the ground.

"Hey..." she said softly.

"Hey..." he replied as set on her feet.

How are you doing? " Chi-Chi asked.

"I am doing alright, you? Howzit been? "

"Okay I guess. I heard you have new girlfriend, how is she?"

"She's fine, like unsettled sometimes but otherwise fine,"

Chi-Chi nodded as they stood there awkwardly. She looked at him and saw that he was slightly smaller than before.

"Haven't been training? You look smaller, " she asked.

"I have but not as much, "

Chi-Chi nodded.

"You look great by the way, "

Chi-Chi looked up at him and saw him looking away from her.

"Thanks, but compared to your new girlfriend, I look very old, " she said.

They stood in silence for a while before...

"I missed you Chi-Chi, " Goku said.

"I have to admit it's not the same with out you," she said.

"Yeah, took some getting used to, " he said.

"Yeah, well I gotta go, "

Goku hugged surprising her. She hugged him back. After a few seconds they let go of each other. Chi-Chi smiled at before walking to the bathroom. Goku sighed sadly before walking back to his friends.

They rest of the night went off without a hitch. Everyone had fun and soon it was time to go home. Everyone left except Chi-Chi and Goten who were staying over.

Once she got her room she couldn't hold it back anymore. She cried softly into her pillow.

It was over. Her relationship with Goku was over. He moved on. It's over.
