Nicky kept her new relationship hidden from her mother for a while for various reasons but also couldn't wait to scandalize her - she had been looking forward to it for months. However, she was still a bit disappointed when Mei-Li discovered the truth so quickly - she, Evan, and Henry had been enjoying their own little bubble. She nervously bit her lip as she awaited the verdict. It was Althea who broke the awkward silence. "I don't know how anybody could deal with two boyfriends but Nicky's been handling it well." She let out a nervous giggle.
Nicky snorted and tried to quell her shaking hands, hoping nobody would notice. "How does this work?" questioned a curious Jin.
She blew out a breath. "Well, we're all together - I love both Henry and Evan, and they love me. They're also in love with each other. We're figuring it out as we go." Nicky wished she had more for them.
"More power to you." Althea gave her a thumbs up.
Nicky rolled her eyes and cocked her head towards the door but Althea stood firm. She wanted to be there when their parents finally recovered and comfort Nicky if need be.
Mei-Li sighed. "Are you happy?" she pressed.
Nicky nodded. "Very," she confirmed to her mother.
Mei-Li and Jin glanced at each other but still stayed silent. Nicky couldn't help but freak out even more. She shot her sister a grateful smile when Althea made her way over and squeezed her shoulder. "It'll be fine," Althea mouthed.
And that's when Mei-Li grinned. "As long as you are happy, then I am happy. That's all that matters." She had learned to let go over the years, especially as Nicky continued on her journey.
Jin smiled at Nicky and pulled her in for a hug. "We love you, Nicky. That's never going to change."
"Damn straight," Althea murmured.
"You're not scandalized?" Nicky shakingly teased, still trying to come down off the panic high she had been stuck in ever since the truth had come out.
"Just a little." Mei-Li winked at her and then walked away.
"We like both men. They better treat you right." Jin smiled and then made his way into the kitchen with his wife.
"They're probably still scandalized if that helps," Althea offered. She patted her back and then sat down on the couch.
"I'm going to see my boys." Nicky waved goodbye and then took off to go find Henry and Evan.
They crowded her the instant she came home. "How'd your parents take it?" Henry asked, sweeping her up for a hug that Evan immediately joined.
"I think they're in shock but they seem accepting of us." Nicky still couldn't believe it.
"Scandalized?" Evan asked after he kissed both of them.
"Just a bit but not as much as I expected." Nicky sat down in the middle of the couch, both men joining her. She grabbed their hands and squeezed. "Love you both."
"Love you too. Always." Henry grinned at her.
Evan also beamed at her. "You want us to draw you a bath?"
She shook her head. "I appreciate how worried you both are but I'm great. Mama and Baba didn't drop the hammer on me, and this isn't the weirdest shit I've pulled - they've learned to adjust. But thank you both - you're sweet."
Nicky still needed to let this situation play out but she looked forward to making out with them both in front of her parents to get the scandalized reaction she was aiming for (she hoped she didn't shock the shit out of them too much).
