Wendy didn't regret many things anymore at this point in her life. She knew they were unchangeable, especially all these years later.
She didn't regret anything, except that one night.
She should have told the pink haired beauty that stood on her front porch that she loved her but she was too afraid, scared she was going to lose her best friend.
Looking back she should have just told her because after she left her yard that night they never met again. Chelia was heading off to college and leaving Wendy by herself in the town that she couldn't care less about.
That was the night she lost her best friend.
It wasn't intentional, she knew that. Chelia was too busy with college and Wendy didn't want to bother her.
She wished she did.
She wished all those nights alone she had actually picked up the phone and called or even texted her once best friend. She never did.
And now six years since she last saw her she got a text from an unfamiliar number that read
Hey Wendy! It's me Chelia, I've wanted to message you sooner but wasn't sure if you had the same number but I saw one of your cousins while I was back in town, Natsu I believe, and he told me that this is the correct number but anyway I was just wanted to let you know that I am getting married next month and wanted to know if you wanted to be the maid of honor? It is fine if you don't since we haven't seen each other in forever but I just figured I would ask :) love you 3
Wendy sat on her living room floor, tears streaming down her face as she read the message.
She should have told her all those years ago on that rainy night in August. She didn't. Now she pays the price, by seeing the love of her life marry another.
