No, not a new story. Mainly because I don't play FGO. I wish I could, but my phone sucks. This is an adaptation of if post blood war Ichigo was invited to Chaldea due to his quincy heritage, as they used to be in Europe so it's likely the clock tower and everyone else knows a little about them and how they were powerful spiritual mediums. Based on the First Order movie. Featuring female Ritsuka. You can use this idea if you want, but I will warn you my writing is shit and I'm only really doing this since I've not seen any similar ideas, and I want to inspire better authors than I to do this. Anyways, hope you enjoy the first and only chapter from me. Ciao
It had started as a normal enough winter. After the blood war, Ichigo had finished school before going on a years leave. Normally, that would probably be looked down upon, but he needed a break. So he traveled some places, helped a bit in others when he noticed some supernatural stuff, but that was all.
He hadn't expected to get an employment letter while at home with his family.
It was early December, and he was staring at an official looking envelope, obviously thinking things over.
"Chaldea security organization huh? Normally I'd be against doing anything like this but… this seems important."
Cut to later, after speaking with other people (Uryu got a letter too. He said it was because his heritage was tracked from the times quincy were more in the world as spiritual mediums that apparently got this organization's attention. The Wing Bind agency had also told him what to expect from Chaldea.), he had decided to give it a shot. It also helped that the United Nations was in on it too.
So that's how he was here, on December 31st, in Antarctica of all places. The briefing had been rough for him when he had arrived. Despite not wanting to deal with well- world ending threats any more, hearing that humanity would be extinct in under a century started a bit of panic in him. Which led to him sending for Urahara, but the shopkeeper just sent back an upgraded Badge, which he was thankful for at least. Apparently it was modified based on the Caja Negacion. Since usually, he'd have to have someone hold onto his body as they fought, they didn't want that to be a liability here. Simply press it and his body would be transported to a pocket space and he could fight in its place without having to worry about it. Simple and effective.
But then there were the dumb uniforms they were wearing which made him have to wear it as a necklace instead of anything a little more practical.
Anyways, the exposition needs to continue. He was with about 48 other master candidates, though one, a redheaded Japanese girl with golden eyes, looked like she was nursing a headache. They were preparing to "Rayshift" as it was called back to 2004 - and wasn't that a novel concept? Time travel! - to fix an abnormality in time called a Singularity, which would in turn fix the future. Easy enough, especially with so many people.
That is, until Ichigo's instincts screamed at him and he instinctively used all of his defensive techniques on himself and quickly wrapped the other masters and other people in the room with a thick layer of reiatsu before the world exploded a split second later.
He woke up on the ground in a city, and with his instincts again screaming at him. He pressed the badge against his chest and leapt up, spotting some of the other Masters nearby and a crap ton of arrows about to crash into their little group. He ground his teeth together before copying a technique he'd seen once, but only once. Putting a hand up, he channeled Blut Vene out into a shield covering him and the other unconscious people before the arrows slammed into it and were deflected off to the sides before he dropped his arm, grimacing a bit at the pain of channeling his power in an unfamiliar way before looking around and seeing them coming to. That is until he heard the telltale whistle again.
"Shit-!" He turned around, brandishing his original Shikai (which was now a sealed state since he learned how to do that to spite everyone who said he couldn't) to shield himself while reinforcing his body, but it appeared he didn't need to. One of the other people, Mash if he recalled, was brandishing a large shield and blocking the projectiles for them.
Deciding to wait it out, he tried to spot where the arrows were coming from before they suddenly stopped, and he looked to the two others with him to spot them hunkered behind the shield. "Well this looks… bad."
The redhead snorted a bit at that and shook her head at the substitute's words. "Yeah, that much is obvious. Also, what's with the new getup? You weren't wearing that in the rayshifting room?"
Ichigo's scowl was full force, but not at her. "Less stuffy combat clothes. Much easier to move in."
She nodded a bit at that before holding out a hand. "Ritsuka Fujimaru. Good to have another apocalypse buddy."
His scowl lessened a bit and he shook her hand back. "Ichigo Kurosaki. Likewise. We should probably get going, look for other survivors or something…." He trailed off when he heard a scream in the distance. "Well, maybe we should start looking in that direction."
Receiving a nod from the other two, their small group sped off to find what was hopefully another survivor of the mess.
When they arrived though, it was to see the chief there on her knees shooting at skeletons of all things. That… made Ichigo unreasonably mad. The souls of the dead shouldn't be forced to fight like this. It took barely a moment before the undead were destroyed completely with a heilig pfeil each. Once he was done with that, he helped the chief back up to her feet. "What a nuisance- Are you alright Director?"
She seemed mildly taken aback at seeing him before nodding. "Yes- I'm fine, now that you're here- and is that Ritsuka and Mash behind you?" A short nod was her answer before he scratched the back of his head a bit embarrassedly. "I may have left them behind to get here and help quicker."
Olga was unsure what to think aside from noticing that the demi servant experiment worked on Mash as she arrived before squinting at Ichigo. He almost felt like one too, but there was something noticeably different that she couldn't put her finger on. "Well, in any case-" was as far as she got before she was interrupted by a beeping on Ritsuka's wrist watch. Ichigo didn't have his currently due to well… his body being in a separate plain. After a short while, a hologram showed up with Dr. Romani appearing in it.
"Yes! Finally got through to you guys! Can you hear me?"
"Loud and clear doctor. What's the situation?" Ichigo would rather cut to the chase than ask anything unnecessary and waste time that could be used.
"Well… practically every master and command staff was caught in the explosion. Other staff are looking through the wreckage, but there's a surprisingly low body count all things considered, but practically all of them will be out of commission for a couple months at least. You were the only ones to rayshift though, so it's up to you four to get this singularity done. Before you ask Director, I'm only in your chair because nobody else outranks me- please don't hit me when you get back." He had sounded so serious at the beginning and it honestly made Ichigo's opinion of the man drop a bit seeing him get so timid so quickly.
A short conversation the hologram disappeared and they were planning on continuing until the call sound started to play again, prompting a groan from Olga as she answered. "What is it now Romani?!"
The man again looked uncharacteristically serious. "You need to get out of there now! There's an enemy closing in!"
They didn't wait for an invitation before the group started running, Ichigo keeping his senses peeled for any sudden attacks. But it appears it wasn't attacks he needed to worry about. They were stopped by a wall of chains before he felt a new presence to his right and he glanced up, his scowl etched deeper on his face as he looked at the woman. She felt like Kenpachi but… more malicious. More like Unohana if he had to draw a more accurate comparison. The way she spoke to the group didn't help matters.
"An unknown master, a living human, a servant and… something else. Interesting. Fine prey indeed. I'll enjoy adding you four to my collection~" With that, she removed the head of one of the human statues. It obviously disturbed the rest of the group, but Ichigo's eyes only hardened at that.
"We have to fight her- there's no other choice at this point!" Mash put herself in front of the three, in her eyes at least, defenseless humans. Seems she forgot about Ichigo's sword.
Ritsuka looked worried for the other girl though. "Are you sure you can take her? She seems dangerous!"
Mash only shook her head at that. "I have to."
The other servant's grin only stretched further at that. "Since the word fight left your mouth, then you must be ready for one!" With that, she astralized and appeared in front of a surprised Mash, swinging down Harpe in a bid to maim the poor girl. She was able to get the shield up in time to block the first few strikes. However, one swing Ichigo saw was going to land, so he stepped in.
Mash was surprised to feel no impact despite seeing the swing coming. She heard the clang though and looked up, spotting Ichigo hefting the oversized khyber knife like it was nothing and blocking the immortal killing lance. He didn't even move an inch, even while the polearm was visibly grating on the immovable weapon.
"Sorry for butting in… But I'm not. Can't let you hurt my friends now can I?" With that, he shifted his grip and the blade was swinging to take Medusa's head off. For a blade so large, it moved incredibly fast, and it was obvious by the startled and strained look that it was all the servant could do to block the sword and get sent shooting back, her heels causing divots in the pavement.
Ichigo watched the servant for a moment before speaking. "Director. Ending the grail war means killing the servants to break the singularity, right?"
Olga, who had been in a stupor at seeing the display of strength from the orangette, shook her head to get her bearings before nodding. "Yes. That's what is needed to end the grail war."
A short nod from Ichigo was his only response before he was back in front of Medusa and swinging his blade down at her. She gasped in surprise at the speed and lifted the lance up to block, and barely succeeded. The force of the blow caused a shockwave and cracked the pavement, and the servant was visibly straining to hold back the strength of the Shinigami, whose cold eyes bored into her. "The dead should stay in the afterlife. That includes you." Her eyes widened when she saw the edge of his blade glow before a grayish-purple wave of energy shot out of the blade, vaporising her and at least 10 blocks behind her. Ichigo then nonchalantly wrapped his sword back up on his back before looking to the rest. "We need to go. There's another servant here."
Said servant, who had been watching and waiting for a chance to jump in, waved a bit from the side. "I was assuming you would need help actually, but looks like you got it covered!"
Ichigo gave him an unimpressed stare that caused Cu to hold his hands up placatingly and in surrender.
"In any case, the name's Cu Chulainn. I am, to my knowledge, the only servant that is uncorrupted. But that seems to no longer be the case since you two are here. I was summoned as a caster in this war. Wish I had my spear though, would've made everything so much easier."
Ichigo's glare didn't let up however, until he was distracted by the hologram of Romani appearing before Olga again.
"Stop having a fit Ichigo. Just ask him about the situation. He seems decent enough."
A short Q&A session with the blue servant later, and they were now more briefed on the situation. And they were on their way to resolve it. They were heading into the cave after a short scuffle with Archer, leaving lancer behind to deal with him.
When they beheld Saber, Ichigo had to admit she was impressive. She was easily on par with Kenpachi when he first invaded soul society. Much stronger than Lancer too, from the looks of it when she was hitting Mash's shield. He was fine watching for now, but if it started to look dicey, well, of course he'd help out. Though he was getting bored just seeing her slam against the shield of the demi servant. He frowned when Olga stopped Ritsuka from helping when she was on the ground though. As it was, he realized Mash needed this as well. And the most hurt that she was was bruises. If anything fatal came towards her, he'd end the fight then.
A bit later and he nodded at what appeared to be the right choice. Mash had unlocked her noble phantasm with the help of her master. Though once Saber geared back up, with a lot more power this time, he stepped in front of the two.
"I'll take it from here. Get some rest." And with that, he reciprocated saber's stance, a pale purple aura pouring off of him to contest her dark and malevolent one. The resolve in brown-tinged-blue eyes reflected in cold gold before they both unleashed their attacks.
Excalibur's dark beam came towards Ichigo with all the authority of an executioner's guillotine. At least, that's what the other three there thought, going by the panicked gasps. That was until he swung the blade around.
"Getsuga Tenshou." Those two words were spoken with the same finality of a judge giving a life sentence, as a greater beam of pale light clashed with and overwhelmed Excalibur. Saber only had a moment to look surprised before it crashed into her and her blade, a grimace taking over her features before it was too much for her to hold back.
Saber had been defeated, and nothing was left of where she once stood.
Then they heard clapping coming from behind them and the blue servant came walking from the cave entrance. "Well done there kid! I honestly didn't expect you to do so well against her! Well, now that that's done, it's smooth sailing from here." That was, until he started to fade. It caused him to frown and then sigh in exasperation. "Damn. And it was just getting good. Well, guess that's it for me. I'll see you all again, maybe. Try not to die til then, 'kay? And summon me as a lancer next time, if there is one. It's a hell of a lot more fun." And with that, he was gone.
Everyone was tentatively taking a break now that it had ended, until another source of clapping was heard. And, from Ichigo's senses, from a significantly less friendly or human source. It immediately put everyone else on guard.
"I never thought you'd make it this far. You unknown variables have grated on my expectations more than I can tolerate."
Everyone but Ichigo was set at ease by his words.
Mash seemed happy at who it was though. "Professor Lev! You're alive!"
That was, until Ichigo stepped in front of them. "That isn't Lev. It just looks like him. Keep up your guard."
The laugh and grin that appeared on the older man's face was all the proof they needed. "Perceptive one aren't you? You quincy always were. I suppose I should be less surprised then with one of your ilk in the ranks of the Masters. Likely why everyone didn't die in the explosion that I set."
Ichigo's glare intensified at that. "Everyone step back. This might hurt a bit." With that, he held his blade in front of him. "Abandon your fear. Look forward. Keep moving and never stop. Retreat and you will age, hesitate and you will die. Let the instincts of war fuel you, and the hunger for battle strengthen you. Zangetsu."
A similar pillar to the pale purple one erupted from his location, but the colors split. One side was pale bluish-white, and the other was red tinged black. The weight in the air suddenly made it hard for everyone but Lev to breathe. The demon god however widened his eyes at the display of power.
"Whatever your game is here, I won't let it come to fruition."
The Professor narrowed his eyes at that before grinning. "You're a little late on that. It already has." Taking a moment to find what he was looking for, he opened a portal to view Chaldeas core… which was completely orange.
"I'm sure you know what this means Olga. All of humankind has been wiped out. You've already failed. And since there's nothing you can do, allow me to reintroduce myself. I am Lef Lainur Flauros, the demon lord tasked with dealing with the infestation known as humankind."
That caused the hybrid to pause. He was staring at the globe like it wasn't registering, which, it really wasn't. He heard Romani in the background confirming it.
The demon was monologuing. He could hear that too. But his mind was occupied with background static, and his inner world was storming. That meant that his sisters, his friends, and everyone else were… gone.
The monologue was interrupted with an earthquake. Not one caused by the collapsing singularity however. The yin and yang of Ichigo's power erupted, a beacon of twisting light reaching to the sky and splitting the clouds before a whisper could be heard.
"Getsuga Tenshou."
Everything was gone
Everything in front of the orangette was completely destroyed. The technique was on a whole other level. Even mountaintops in the distance were cleaved clean off by the wave of energy. The clouds split open like the red sea was for Moses, like God had opened the curtains to take a peek at his creation. The cave was completely open to the outside Lev was gone too. The blade that did such damage though? A slightly oversized trench knife held to his side, blue energy wafting off of it like steam.
"Romani. Take us back."
The man was quiet for a moment, seemingly stunned, before they all teleported back to the Antarctic base.
Since people are probably going to ask why Ichigo's energy is purple in his sealed state and why it's not a katana like normal, I got answers. I'm taking a bit from Zeionia in that both zangetsus agree that having the sword be that big is a good idea since Ichigo uses it as a shield a bunch. The reason his energy is purple with a grey center, which I admit I didn't mention, is because the zangetsu's energy in that form is combined. Black + white = gray and red + blue = purple. When he goes into Shikai each blade has their own distinct energy, so that's the reason for the change. Anyways, hope you sort of enjoyed. Leave a review please.
