"He's another giant fuck up waiting to happen!" The mostly purple furred male squirrel pointed at the other young male squirrel across from him. The man in questions brown and tan fur seemed damp with sweat as he was laying back laxly in a large leather lounge chair. The young man that was intoxicated, to the point of paralyses, body was seemingly too thin for his misfitted suit. "The next time he overdoses I'm not going to lifting a finger to save his sorry ass!"
"He won't overdose again. I've seen to that." A deep male voice called out from the washroom attached to the large luxury hotel suite. "And it'd be in your best interest to not second guess my decisions again, Static." And older, very well dressed, purple furred squirrel entered the main living area of the suite as he dried his hands off on a white towel before throwing the cloth down on the back of the lounge chair situated right next to the inebriated man the current argument centered around. "You may be my son, but I tolerate disobedience from no one."
"He's an addict, and his recklessness could ruin everything!" Static pointed to the man that was likely not much older than himself.
"Most of those in our employ at this venue are addicts. It makes it far easier to keep them inline, you idiot." Static's father scowled at him as the young Electro kept up his argument.
"He can't control himself! If he ends up dead in this hotel it'll put the spotlight on us. Or what if he's so desperate for a fix he talks to the cops?! I don't trust him, dad. The others can keep their shit together, but this one..." Static nodded his head in disapproval as his lips curled down in anger looking at their problem employee.
"I already told you I made sure he won't overdose again, and as far as talking to the cops you can rest easy in that regard as well. I have just as much on him as he has on us." Proton, the elder Electro, grinned sinisterly down and the unconscious young man.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Static asked his father as he lifted an eyebrow confused.
"It means you can stop asking question and just take me at my word. I have everything, in regards to Randal, under control. You should focus on Shadow arriving tonight. You two only have a week to get the latest shipment properly distributed around the island. Don't make me regret trusting you with this responsibility, Static." Proton watched his son turn around and stomp out of the room before slamming then door. The older man then took a seat next to the younger brown squirrel and looked over at his sleeping face.
The emotionless expression Proton usually wore almost went away as a depressed haze found its way into his eyes. The woken man then used the back of his hand to wipe away some sweat from the sleeping man's brow. "Sober up, Randal." He then moved his hand down to hold onto the other mans. "There is still much work to be done."
"Heroin?" The elderly gray wolf captain of the ferry ship looked at the young female squirrel that had been chatting him up with a confused expression. The ship had docked at the island pier only 15 minutes earlier. "I'm sorry missy, but I don't know anything about any drugs on this here island. Too many rich folks visiting for that kinda depravity to find its way around here."
Sandy nodded her head in understand while thanking the man for his time. She then picked up her bags and walked off the large vessel as the few cars that had crossed with her were finally allowed to drive onto the small tourist island streets. It had only been two weeks prior that she'd received a call that her brother was in the hospital from a drug overdose. He had taken a job at a hotel on the island only six months before that. Her brother, Randy, had struggled with his drinking, as did their father, for some time but she'd never thought he'd fall into something as illicit as heroin. Right when she was just about to book a plane to head out and see him, he had called her and assured her everything was fine and it was just a misunderstanding and that he had just drunk himself into oblivion at a party. She wasn't buying it, and proceeded to come check on him. Besides, a drug ring on a rich tourist island paradise was too good of a story to pass up, especially if it meant to help save her brother from certain disaster.
