Legal Stuff: All characters belong to DC Comics nothing is mine.
A/n: So since the end is now Nigh for Supergirl I was thinking of how I'd like it to end and this is what would have happened if it was down to me. I haven't seen the final episodes yet where I live they haven't aired yet but I gather from the comments up and down the internet it wasn't the Supercorp Endgame we'd hoped for. If you ask me someone's had a bad case of scaredy cat-itis perhaps somewhere down the line if CW Arrow verse keeps going they will do the job properly we can but hope.

National City present day:
The sky over National City is a perfect shade of blue and there isn't a single cloud anywhere to be seen just pure sunshine everywhere you look. It's the perfect day for a wedding the much-anticipated Danvers-Olsen wedding to be exact Kara smiles to herself not so much the wedding of the year more like 'the wedding ever' at least according to Alex.
The Danvers sisters and J'onn are 'allegedly' patiently waiting for the other half of the bridal party to arrive at the Carfax Hotel so the ceremony can begin hopefully before Alex bursts a blood vessel. The Carfax is one of the oldest buildings in National City, built in the 1920s in the Art Deco style of the era it was constructed in wall-to-wall marble to emphasize its opulence not to mention sheer elegance. The actual ceremony is to take place in the Hotel's private gardens which have been decked out with white wooden chairs either side of a pink flower strewn aisle leading to a specially constructed canopy cum altar decorated with rainbow-colored ribbons and even more flowers where the marriage celebrant is waiting to officiate.
All the guests have taken their seats Eliza is there with probably the world's largest box of tissues chatting happily to Kelly's mom. So is Kate Kane and her date, Barry and Iris with Team Flash in tow and of course Clark, Lois and their boys. The only people missing are Jeramiah Danvers and Marcus Olsen, but the respective fathers of the brides haven't been forgotten and two empty chairs have been set aside on the front aisle for them anyway. All in all, Kelly and Alex's wedding planner Brainy has done a fantastic job and is currently basking in glory next to Sam and Ruby Arias. Ruby as recently started High School and Kara can't believe how grown up she is now. Ruby is now taller than her mom and extremely athletic in build Kara briefly wonders if Ruby's Reign/Kryptonian DNA is quite as dormant as they had always believed.
"Can you see the car yet" Alex impatiently paces up and down as they wait at the far end of the aisle about 10 seconds away from a full-blown panic attack.
"Not yet" Kara shakes her head she and Alex are dressed in almost identical cream pant suits each adorned with a simple pink rose buttonhole. Whereas J'onn is looking very James Bond in a bow tie and white tux.
"You do have super-duper x-ray vision don't you" Alex grumbles.
"You said no supering today full stop" Kara grinned "You said nothing not even all out Armageddon was stopping you marrying Kelly today and you said, and I quote I want my best person by my side not rescuing cats stuck up trees."
"I've known you since you were thirteen years old, and you have spent every day since you arrived here ignoring my requests not to super and you pick today of all days to actually listen to me" Alex hissed and rolled her eyes.
"No Lex, no 5th dimensional imps running amok, no homicidal manic godlike aliens, no lost puppy dogs and definitely no Space Nazi's that's what you said" Kara teased.
"Relax Alex she'll be here" J'onn assured her on honorary dad duty "Traditionally the bride is always late it sets the tone for the marriage."
"Fine I surrender" Alex throws her arms up in submission "Just tell me where my girls are will you!"
"Gladly" Kara chuckles and slides her glasses down a notch. She can see through the walls of the hotel that a shiny vintage silver ghost Rolls Royce borrowed from an old friend especially for today is pulling up outside.
"Well" Alex pushes.
"They are here safe and well" Kara assures her watching as James Olsen dressed in a brand-new tux himself alights the car first then helps his sister out, they are followed by Kelly's maid of honor Lena Luthor interesting fact about Lena she's never been a bride's maid before.
"Everyone I know have always been too scared to ask me" She confided to Kara and the Kryptonian could swear the youngest Luther is glowing she's so happy just to be asked.
Kara can't stop staring at her, Kelly as forgone the usual hideous bridesmaid's dresses and opted for soft silk 1930's style gowns in a pale cream color that show off Lena's curves in oh so many wonderful ways. Her raven hair is up leaving her slender neck bare and oh so kissable in Kara's humble opinion and there are delicate little pink flowers entwined in her locks. Lena lips are painted a deep scarlet red contrasting perfectly with her pale skin and she is wearing killer heels … she looks like she's just stepped out of an old Hollywood movie Kara gives out a besotted sigh.
"Well" Alex tries again "How does she look."
"Breathtaking" Kara murmurs not able to take her eyes off Lena "Rao have mercy."
"I meant Kelly not Lena" Alex rolled her eyes again deducing correctly what or who had her little sister so hot and bothered since it was always Lena wasn't it.
"Kelly looks nice too" Kara shrugged she hadn't really been paying that much attention.
They are now joined by Nia also a bridesmaid and probably the cutest flower girl ever not that Kara was even remotely biased. The youngest Super friend sweet little Esme had her hair in ringlets and was wearing a pale pink satin dress with a peter pan collar and was holding on to her little basket of flowers as if her life depended on it. Nia took hold of the little girl's free hand and then James led his sister and her entourage into her wedding.
"They are here" Kara cheerfully announced as Kelly and James entered the garden the others in tow.
"I can see that" Alex huffed.
"Ready" J'onn asked offering her his arm.
"Absolutely" Alex grinned holding on to him as Irving Berlin's "Always" began to play and J'onn grinning from ear to ear led her down the aisle.
James followed next with Kelly on his arm then came Lena.
"You look absolutely stunning" Kara whispered offering out her own arm.
"Funny I was going to say the same about you" Lena whispered back and allowed her to escort her down the aisle exactly as they had rehearsed best person and Maid of honor together.
All good things must come to an end as the earth saying goes and the wedding reception is no exception, the newlyweds and Esme have long since sneaked off on their familymoon and everyone else is making their way homewards slowly but surely.
"Can I take you home Lee" Kara reaches out across the table they share and covers Lena's hand with her own.
"I'd like that" Lena smiles happily and before she knows what's happening Kara has scooped her up bride groom style and they are up, up, and away.
They arrive back on Lena's balcony and there is a surprise waiting for her. A soft blanket and pillows have been laid out for her and there are candles everywhere. There is a bottle of highly unusual Martian champagne (since like Kara Lena is no longer affected by human alcohol due to her magical abilities) and two champagne flutes glistening in the candlelight just waiting to be shared.
"You have been busy" Lena admires Kara's handiwork.
"Tonight's a very special occasion" Kara assures her.
"I have something for you" Kara announces as they lie side by side stargazing and sipping champagne together, she produces a napkin opening it Lena finds a pot sticker.
"A pot sticker" Lena asks a little bemused.
"Not just any pot sticker for your information this is the last pot sticker the hotel had it's quite possible the last in National City" Kara informed her "You wouldn't believe what I had to do to Barry to get it Iris will probably never forgive me and it's 100% vegan too."
"So, you're giving up your last pot sticker for me …." Lena shook her head ",,,,,but you love pot stickers Kara are you feeling alright?"
"Never better Lee I'd happily give up the last pot sticker on the planet for you….no in existence just for you" Kara told her and that's when the floodgates opened.
"Lee I…. there is something I've been wanting…. needing to say to you for a long time" Kara took a deep breath well it was now or never wasn't it "Someone reminded me recently of a very important piece of advice Cat Grant once gave me. That I should work out what it is I want and not stop till I get it. Well, I know what I want I love being Supergirl I do but she's what I do not who I am. I want…. I want to build a life as Kara like Alex has done, a family of my own, kids, a big fluffy dog and someone to share my pot stickers with for life."
"Your leaving National City aren't you" Lena's worse fear is confirmed, and it feels like her heart is broken in two.
"I don't belong here Lena not anymore. Once upon a time all I wanted, dreamed of was to call National City home and be a reporter for Catco but it no longer gives me any joy" Kara confirms Lena's fears "I'm leaving after tonight I've already said my goodbyes to Alex and the others."
"You've outgrown it…" Lena sighs wishing she was surprised but in her heart of hearts she knows this has been coming for a long time.
"Lena, I think we both have" Kara tells her honestly "I think we both need something more, don't you?"
"I only came here for you well for Supergirl to help her and to put right at least some of the damage Lex had caused" Lena confesses "Just for the record it's the best decision I ever made though."
"Lee you must know by now you did that and so much more long ago" Kara tells her "Just the fact we are here right now at all is down to you."
"Super friends team effort" Lena insists flushing red
"Lee, I need to say this now before I lose my nerve…. all the time I was stuck in the Phantom Zone, then when we were fighting Lex and Nxly through everything that happened there was only one thing that kept me going no matter what, the reason I never gave up hope and that was you. Doesn't matter how bad things get as long as I'm near you then there is nothing and no-one, I can't handle doesn't matter what your brother or anyone else throws at us…" Kara nodded.
"El Mayarah" Lena murmured.
"Stronger together" Kara agreed "Do you remember the first day we met?"
"Yes, you looked as terrified as I felt peeping out behind Clark like a frightened rabbit" Lena chuckled at the memory.
"You too" Kara mentally kicked herself for never realizing just how scared Lena must have been that day she had been barely more than a kid back then with the weight of the world or at least Lex Luthor on her shoulders facing up alone to not just one nosy reporter but two."
"Me too" Lena told her "You made me feel at ease though and you never judged me simply because my name happened to be Luthor I don't think I ever thanked you for that."
"There is no need" Kara assured her "You are right though I was terrified too after all you were a Luthor and to be honest I half expected little horns and a tail. Lena, you dazzled me and still do every day I'm lucky enough to spend with you. You're the kindest, bravest not to mention the smartest person I've ever met you are my Superhero and….and I love you. Not just as my best friend but in the way Alex and Kelly love each other in every way possible it is to love someone I love you and I always will."
There she'd said she told Lena the truth I have to do it Alex she'd told her sister before I leave, I need Lena to know how I really feel about her then whatever she wants that will just have to be fine with me Alex had simply wished her luck.
Lena must have been holding out on them on the super speed front because she'd somehow managed to cup Kara's face with both hands without the Kryptonian noticing.
"Kara, you dummy don't you know how I adore you" Lena whispers leaning in to kiss her "All the time we were apart nothing was ever right, I felt like I was trapped in a blackhole somewhere and I couldn't get out. I Love you too I always did, and I always will."
Kara does what she's wanted to do, dreamed of doing every day for the last five years or so she kisses Lena back.
"So…" Kara asks as they briefly part their foreheads still touching.
"So…" Lena echoes back.
"Runaway with me Lena please" Kara pleads.
"Anywhere in particular" Asks Lena.
"Somewhere there is no Lex to interfere where I can keep you safe, make you happy…. we will be so happy" Kara tells her "To the stars, Never Never Land, the wild blue yonder doesn't really matter just as long as we are together."
Lena just smiles a beautiful smile and kisses Kara once again so she takes that to be a yes.
National City Autumn 2071:
"Alex honey you'd better get in here and see this" Kelly calls out to her wife.
Now in her early eighties but still extremely sprightly Alex is just cleaning her teeth before bedtime when she hears Kelly call out her name.
Padding into their bedroom Alex sees what all the fuss is about the TV is on and the death of Lex Luthor is flashing up on the screen.
"The old sonofabitch is finally gone" Alex couldn't help but grin.
"Apparently so" Kelly nods "Or though you never can tell with him."
Another headline flashes up and picture of a beautiful young woman with jet black hair and green eyes appeared "Death of Lex Luthor: Mystery of missing heiress may now never be solved."
Lena Luthor had last been seen the day after attending a wedding after that she'd simply vanished without a trace never to be seen or heard of again coincidentally a young reporter named Kara Danvers had left National City about the same time and had long since faded into obscurity. It was also about the same time that Supergirl had semi-retired although legend had it that whenever she was needed the most Supergirl would always appear as if by magic only to vanish again to who knows where.
Over the years Lex Luthor had been questioned several times about the whereabouts of his sister but he'd always maintained that he had no idea where she was and that her disappearance had nothing to do with him. Nothing was ever proven against him, and he was never changed with any crime concerning Lena. That didn't stop the rumors circulating about Lena's fate some even believed her body was buried under the old L Corp building of course there had been several alleged sightings of Lena over the years, but nothing had ever come of them. No Lena's disappearance was now a mystery on par with Amelia Earhart or Jimmy Hoffa.
"Do you think he knew what really happened to Lena" Kelly wondered
"Oh, I'm sure he did" Alex said her gaze falling onto a photograph by their bed, a photograph of her sister and Lena holding hands and smiling happily together the day she and Kelly got married "What was he going to do about it? He could hardly tell the truth could he…he'd have sounded even more nuts than usual."
"I hope they got their happy ending" Kelly wished "If anyone deserved it, it was Supercorp."
"Supercorp? I haven't heard that name in years" Alex chuckled "If they are even half as happy as us then they did" she said leaning over to kiss Kelly on her lips.
Crystal Cove somewhere in time:
The little Golden Labrador puppy happily scampers ahead of them as they walk along the deserted beach hand in hand back to their home the sun slowly setting just the two of them together like they had been since the day they'd left National City such a long time ago. When they had first arrived here, they'd found the land where the old Walsh house had once stood and had made it theirs. Lena had designed their then new home; Kara had then built it from scratch with her own hands and with a little help from their friends old and new of course.
On the day they had moved in they had been watching the sunset from their balcony when Kara had gone down on one knee and produced a diamond ring she'd created and asked Lena to marry her they had been married a month later on this very beach. As a wedding gift Lena had given Kara a Irish Setter Puppy the first in a long line of much-loved family pets. Exactly eight months three weeks and two days later due to Kryptonian genetics mixed with magic Lena had given birth to their first born a little girl with red hair and her mama's green eyes who they had named Elizabeth Alexandra or Lizzie for short.
Two years after that twins Catherine Jane (usually known as Cat) and her (younger by 10 minutes) brother J'onn Zor-el had arrived completing their happy little family. Lizzie seemed to be most like her mama Lena not only in looks but in her ability's too and was a natural when it came to magic. Cat was fair like her mommy Kara and both twins had her blue eyes but J'onn's hair was the same raven colour as Lena's. Both Twins had embraced their Kryptonian heritage more than magic and Kara swore that her son grew to resemble Kal-El more and more every day although Cat was the strongest of the Super twins. All three children had inherited Lena's keen intelligence but more importantly her kind heart Kara had said, and your courage and integrity Lena had finished. They are the very best of both of us agreed Kara.
Their children were now grown and had children of their own and tonight were throwing their parents a Golden Anniversary party to celebrate 50 years to the date they had married the little puppy had been Kara's gift to Lena carrying on the tradition began on their weeding day and had been named Rumpus due to her mischievous nature. Truth be known though neither woman looked much older than when they'd first arrived here Kara's Kryptonian biology meant she aged far slower than humans did and apparently the side effect of her magic meant Lena aged at the same rate as in all things a perfect match. So, barring total disaster there was no reason they couldn't have another fifty years together or even longer.
"Your quiet tonight my love would you like to talk about it" Kara asks.
"I…. I know it sounds stupid, but I wish Lex was here" Lena admitted "I wish he could have let go of his prejudice and his hatred and just been happy for us. I wish you had known the kind, warm hearted boy I grew up with."
"Lena that's not stupid he was your brother and you loved him" Kara assured her "You are allowed to miss him even if he was a right royal pain in the ass. I still miss Alex, Kelly and the others everyday but I wouldn't change our life together our family not even for them."
"Me too. I have never regretted being with you, I wouldn't change a single moment of our life together you know that don't you darling" Lena wrapped her arms around Kara's neck.
"So does this mean you're planning on sticking around for the next 50 years then" Kara chuckles pulling Lena into her arms and a soft kiss.
"Mommy they are doing it again" A little voice interrupts them "My Grandma's are kissing."
Rosie is Cat's daughter and their youngest (to date) grandchild and as literally flown down the beach to greet them and is pouting a trick Lena insists, she got from Kara.
"Well tell those naughty Grandma's to hurry up or they will miss their own party" Cat chuckles back Super hearing definitely had its plus side.
"Rosie my darling when you get older you will understand I promise you" Lena assures her.
"One day you'll like kissing girls or boys or both too" Kara nods "Doesn't matter which in this family you will always be loved and accepted but until then …"
She and Lena both cover the now giggling little girl in Grandma kisses then Kara scoops Lena up bridegroom style and with Rumpus safely snuggled in Rosie's arms they head home for one hell of a party.
After all the best is yet to come, isn't it?
THE END.
