Ocean's Divide
At the mercy of faded waves
Drifting on, an endless ocean
Cobalt and cyan in muted shades
The tides are in, eternal motion
/
Stars shining bright off the water, the midnight sky stretches darker, obsidian waves rolling in
The silence ominous and sharp
The empty sea calls me farther, a siren song for a martyr, uncharted days running thin
Always a wanderer at heart
/
Oh, desolation has claimed its victory
Beneath a timeless sky
And fading twilight in-between
Flee the shallows and fall asleep
To these jaded nights
Where the waves and stars convene
Another world further on, a wilderness beyond, and irrigo colors the other side
/
No daybreak will shadow this sunless sea
A dread surmise, a dim horizon
I fear that its secrets will shatter me
The light defied, the terrors rising
/
The pressure crashes and worsens, should I remain on the surface, there's hostile waters below
Inertia wavering at last
The ocean blurs the assurance that I'm at home in the currents and now I'm certain, I know
I'll find no solace turning back
/
Oh, unrelenting, the ocean's melody
Will my heart divide
Caught between the sky and sea?
Stars descending, I've seen a galaxy
In the darkened tides
In the rapture of the deep
Another soul lost at sea, fell to empyrean peaks, leave the indigo nights of the sea behind

Ocean's Divide was begun in 2019 and was just redirected recently after my completion of the games Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies. I'm only posting it here so I can remember that I have it saved somewhere.
Ocean's Divide took a few liberties from the games. Instead of passing through the Avid Horizon to find the High Wilderness, the gateway to the Wilderness is located at some vague point deep below the surface, and the story of this poem is the zailor falling from the desolate zee to the skies.
Hi to all my old friends I haven't talked to in years and are now seeing a random post from me!
