Erin was with her friends at Amanda's house. Erin was giving them a quick recap of the day's lesson as the girls were having a hard time grasping the material. "Damn, we really lucked out with you!" Amanda said as she was wiring furiously in her notebook. Michelle and Danny were doing the same. Michelle looked up from her notebook and faced Erin, "I finally understand this, wow." she said. Erin laughed, "Yeah, it's a little trick I learned at my old school. If you guys ever have trouble, I'm happy to help." she said smiling. Amanda was the first to make a sound, "That would be a god sent for me. I'm horrible at math." she said with her arms up. Everyone started to laugh, and Amanda threw her pillow at the group. "I say, after we finish this, we head to the diner." Michelle said. Danny agreed, "Yes. I want fries!" she said. Erin began to feel more at home, she didn't miss Chicago as much.
Back at the apartment Brennan was organizing her ingredients for her dinner with Booth. She didn't know if she should wait for Booth to start dinner. She noticed he liked watching her cook, especially her Mac and Cheese. She always allowed Booth to sprinkle the nutmeg in, he declared it his favorite part. Brennan chuckled at this memory and decided to start the water for the noodles. Soon, she heard her door open and heard Booth, "Bones! Your door was unlocked, that's dangerous!" He scolded her. Brennan laughed, "Yes, it is! Since you just walked in." she said as she covered the pot of boiling water. Booth flung the brown paper bag that contained the wine at her. "I brought your favorite red wine, Bones. Last bottle, how lucky are we?" Booth said as he retrieved two glasses from the cupboard. Bones was taking out the cutting board to cut the chives, "Very lucky. Thanks, Booth." she said as she accepted the glass from Booth's hand. Booth took a seat in front of Bones, to watch her cut the chives. "Got anything for me to do, Bones?" he asked eagerly with childlike wonder. Brennan decided to humor him, "Sure, how about you cut the chives and I start prepping the cheese?" she said. Booth happily got up and took the knife from Brennan's hands, allowing their hands to touch for the first time today. They kept their eyes on each other the entire time. That quick brush of their skin sent shivers down their spines and a slight chuckle from Brennan. "Be careful," she said, and Booth rolled his eyes, "Hey, im great with knives. Wanda knows that." he said with a wink. Brennan shut her eyes to remember Buck throwing his knives of death at her. "Yes, Wanda does know that. I'm not Wanda or Roxy tonight. Just Bones." she emphasized as she placed the glass bowl on the counter. As Booth was chopping, he said, "Well she is my favorite." and Brennan's cheek began to blush.
The girls were at the diner sharing a basket of fries and discussing their plans for Homecoming. Which was still two whole months away. Erin couldn't believe the amount of time they were dedicating to dresses, makeup, and dates. "Isn't Homecoming 2 months away?" Erin asked as she wiped her mouth with a napkin. Michelle swallowed the remaining fries in her mouth, "Yeah, but it's our last Homecoming. Every single event has to be perfect!' she emphasized. Danny soon chimed in, "Yes! Every single detail has to be planned just right. Including the after party. I think you're going to be invited!" she sang as she pointed a fry at Erin. Erin was confused, "After party? Me? Aren't those exclusive? Why would I be invited?" she asked with a smile. Amanda gave Erin a look, "Because you're our friend! I say she's one of us, what do we think guys?" she asked Danny and Michelle. Michelle and Danny nodded their heads, "One of us!" they said in unison and held their milkshakes up for a toast. Erin blushed and held her milkshake up as well, "I feel honored. Thanks guys. Really." she said.
Brennan was about to dump in the noodles with the cheese, but the glass bowl became too hot. The bowl was about to slip from her hands and Booth came up behind her to hold the bowl. "I gotcha, Bones! Be careful." he said as he realized his arms were officially around her. He could smell her lotion and feel the warmth from her skin, "You-can- a - burn yourself. Here let's pour those noodles in." he finished as he cleared his throat. Brennan felt his chest on her back and could feel his heartbeat accelerate, "Thanks, Booth. That-would have been a real mess." she said as they poured the noodles in with the cheese. In unison, they placed the bowl down on the counter and Booth stood behind her for a millisecond and stepped away and smiled. "Let's mix this bad boy!" he said as he rubbed his hands together and Brennan smiled and handed him a spatula. "Yes, let's mix the 'bad boys''' she laughed. "I find your personifications very funny Booth." she said as she mixed. Booth smiled, "Thanks, Bones. I like making you laugh." he said earnestly. "I remember when we couldn't stand to be in the same room. But now. We spend nearly all our time together...I find. I enjoy that." she said as she stopped stirring. Booth stopped stirring as well and they locked eyes once more. "We evolved, Bones. I enjoy it too." he said. Brennan let go of the spatula and picked up her glass, beckoning Booth to do the same. He picked up his glass. She held hers up and said, "To us." and Booth repeated, "To us." and they clinked their glasses together and took a sip of their red wine. As they finished their wine, the sound of Hot Blooded began to fill the apartment. They both grinned and began to sing and dance around the kitchen. They continued to dance as they placed the mac and cheese in the oven to brown.
Erin was walking towards her apartment and opened the door; she saw her mom and Booth dancing close together. She immediately walked out of the apartment as she didnt want to ruin their moment. She gently closed the door and sat down across the hall. Waiting. She really likes Booth, and she knows her mom likes him too. Booth and Brennan continued to dance to Hot Blooded together and heard the oven timer go off. Booth spun Bones out and walked towards the oven, "I got it!" he said happily. Bones couldn't stop smiling. She didn't know if it was the wine, the music, or Booth that was having this effect on her. It was probably all the above.
