It was 3 AM and Erin was typing furiously as her discussion with her mother inspired her to write about their first-time meeting. She would apply psychology and anthropological studies to how individuals begin to form thoughts about others upon meeting them. She didn't want to bore the mess out of her teacher, but she didn't want to sound like a moron either. She wouldn't allow herself to stop writing until she finished it.
Her window was cracked open, she could feel the weather getting colder, and she shivered under her robe. The thought of Booth and her mother going out on a date later that day gave Erin the giggles. She looked forward to seeing her mom get dressed up, she looked forward to seeing her mother happy.
It was 6:55AM and Erin had finished her paper, she had fallen asleep with her laptop propped up beside her. Her hair was a mess, covering her face, her fuzzy socks practically falling off her feet. Brennan had woken up to go for a run. She slowly opened Erin's door as she saw her lights on and saw her daughter sound asleep. She attempted not to chuckle so loudly. Brennan closed Erin's laptop and placed it on her desk, she slowly placed Erin's socks back on, and tucked her in completely. She moved some of her hair out of her face, smiled, and kissed her forehead. Erin smiled lightly in her sleep and turned to face the wall. "Hi-mom," Erin whispered, and Brennan laughed, "I'm going on a run, I'll be back. Love you." she responded. Erin muffled, "Love you-too." and fell right back to sleep.
Brennan was running her usual route when Booth tapped her on the shoulder. He had caught up behind her quickly. She playfully hit Booth on the shoulder and Booth took her in for a hug. "Good morning, Bones." he said out of breath and Brennan laughed into his neck. "Good morning, Booth." she said as she kissed his cheek. They began to walk, hand in hand, and Brennan turned to Booth, "I am really excited about our date. How should I dress?" she asked. Booth squeezed Brennan's hand and smiled, "I'm really excited too, Bones. Wear a dress, with those black tights you just got. Oh! And those little booties." he said with childlike wonder and his toothy grin. Brennan laughed and Booth's cheek became even rosier. Not because of the exercise but he loved the way she laughed. "Okay, got it." she said and bit her bottom lip, "Erin, knew we kissed by the way. She said I smelled like you. She said I looked really happy." She finished her sentence and the pair stopped walking. They stood facing each other, still holding each other's hands. "Are you happy Bones?" Booth asked as he took her other hand into his own. Brennan smiled and blushed, "Yes, Booth. I am." she said. Booth leaned in, asking for permission to kiss her, Brennan batted her eyelashes and leaned in as well, their lips joined, and Brennan took her hands out of his grasp and wrapped her arms around him. The kiss leaves them breathless, yearning for more. "I'll see you tonight, Booth. I can't wait." Brennan said as she stepped away from their embrace. "See you tonight, Bones. Missing you already." he said. He stood there watching her continue to jog back home.
Brennan walked into her apartment and heard Erin moving around her room. She snuck a peak at her daughter who was sorting out her laundry while dancing. Her headphones were on, and she could hear Erin humming to the rhythm of the song she was listening to. Brennan laughed and made her presence known by throwing a loose sock on the ground at Erin. Which startled the teen, Erin moved her headset to the side, "Oh! Hi! How was your run?" she asked as her cheeks began to redden with embarrassment. Brennan leaned against Erin's door frame, "It was great. I- uh, have a date tonight with Booth, at 7." she said while covering her smiled with her left hand. Erin dropped the handful of clothes that were in her arms, "Really?! Oh my gosh, that's great! What are you going to wear? What are you guys going to do? Are you excited?" she asked as she sat down on her bed completely removing her headphones. Brennan felt relief to her daughter's reaction. "Yes, I am very excited. But I'm also very nervous. He told me to wear a dress with my black stockings, and booties." Brennan said with a smile. Erin smiled and placed her hands on her heart. "I'm happy he gave you a hint on the wardrobe. It probably means you'll be going out to a nice dinner. Where it's just the two of you. Who knows! But that's the exciting part. Can I help you get ready later?" Erin asked with her hands still on her chest. Brennan nodded, "Of course. It seems you know more about dating than I do." she said laughing. Erin shook her head, 'Yay! I've never been on a date, but I do watch a lot of movies. I just imagine that's what it's like." she said with a shrug and a shy smile. She looked at her pile of clothes on the floor, "Have any whites you need washed?" she asked so the topic of dating could be forgotten.
It was 6:15 PM and Brennan had just finished blow drying her hair. She had gotten dressed, and Erin knocked on her door, "Mom are you dressed yet? I'd like to see!" she asked. Brennan opened the door to reveal that she was dressed. She was wearing a fitted burgundy dress, with a sweetheart neckline and black stockings. Erin giggled, "You're beautiful, mom." she said as she entered the bedroom. Brennan kissed Erin's forehead, "Thank you, honey. What jewelry should I wear?" She asked as she hung up a simple silver necklace and a gold one. Erin looked at her mother's outfit, "Truly depends on what eye makeup you decide to go with it. To complement the jewelry." she said as she walked over to her mother's bathroom where her makeup was laid out. Brennan watched her as Erin opened the 2 eye palettes her mother owned. Erin raised her eyebrows, "Sorry mom, these won't do. I'll be right back!" she said as she ran to her room. She ran back with 3 eye palettes and opened each one and continued to look back and forth between her mother's dress and the jewelry. "I'm assuming you like makeup?" Brennan asked with a smile. Erin nodded, "Yes! I would wear these 3 eyeshadows. As they complement your dress and skin tone. The gold jewelry would fit perfectly with these shades." she replied.
Brennan wouldn't know where to begin, especially with dark pigments. She wore the same neutral eye for everything. "Honey, would you mind doing my makeup for me?" Brennan asked as she held the palette in her hand. Erin's eyes grew wide, and she smiled, big. "I thought you'd never ask! Yes!" she said and ran to her bedroom to pick up her supplies. 25 minutes later Erin had finished her mother's makeup. "How did you learn to do makeup like this?" Brennan asked as she saw Erin blend her eyeshadow makeup. Erin smiled, "Youtube videos. I had to learn somehow." She replied.
