The doorbell rang. Once. Twice.

The Doctor, Clair, and Jericho froze in the middle of obeying the Doctor's instructions.

Jericho said, "Are they really ringing the doorbell?"

((All right, angels,)) the lead angel said to the other angels through their quantum telepathy, ((the bad news is the Doctor has put herself in this situation and is helping the humans. The good news is they have barricaded themselves in the house, and we already know about the other ways out. Kawolski, analysis!))

((I've detected sonic screwdriver activity, Skipper,)) one angel reported. ((The Doctor is deploying her technology, but she is already cut off from the Tardis and her companions. That would seem to give us a tactical advantage.))

((Exactly,)) Skipper said. ((The Doctor will not make this easy, but we outnumber her, we are patient, and she can't save all of them. We have job to do, angels, and we have to do it. Commence Operation: Storm the House!))

((Kaboom?)) another angel asked, sounding a bit deranged.

((No, Ricarda,)) Skipper said, ((not kaboom. Not yet. Standard escalation protocol, angels. Best thing to do is get one of them to mess up and open the door.))

Another angel, the youngest on the squad, crept forward and rang the doorbell.

Skipper said, ((Private, what are you doing?))

((Well, Skipper,)) Private answered, ((you just said you wanted one of them to open the door.)) She rang the doorbell again. No answer. ((They don't seem to be answering the door, Skipper.))

((Thank you, Private,)) Skipper said, ((I never would have noticed the blindingly obvious without your keen powers of observation. All right, Angels! Let's try forcing the doors.))

((Ka-BOOM!)) Ricarda affirmed.

((No, Ricarda,)) Skipper said, ((not Kaboom, not yet…))
