When All Was Lost...
Chapter One
1
And So Said Sayer...
"Stay strong, Akarii...I'll be back soon...I promise...!"
Even though he said those words...I never...saw him again...
...Kai?
"Akarii...Akarii?"
Who...?
"Akarii...WAKE UP!"
Her eyes snapped open, only to be greeted by the sharp brown eyed gaze of Akiza Izinski.
Akiza...Izinski...
My room mate...
... And probably the only friend I have in this place...
If you could count it as even that much...
"You were talking in your sleep again..."
"I was...? I'm sorry, Kiki...did I wake you?"
"No I was already awake." she sighed in the bed next door. A bodacious burgundy haired beauty. Akarii envied her shape. Compared to her, she actually looked and acted more like a "real woman" in comparison to Akarii's rough-n-tough tom-boy like behavior.
"H-Hey, I've said plenty of times before not to call me that!" Honestly though, it seemed like she secretly kind of liked it. The differences between she and Akarii were vast. She was so pretty...meanwhile...there wasn't really a guy that would think to look at Akarii twice...or so the red head believed...
"Hey, Akarii...!"
Then again...maybe that wasn't entirely true?
Akarii's memories are haunted by fuzzy images of familiar faces in familiar places... that she simply couldn't remember.
Faded faces...
In fading places...
Where?
She was soon disrupted from her day dream of faded memories by the mechanical sound of the automatic door opening.
"Good morning, to my two favorite ladies~"
"Good morning, Sayer." Akiza greeted their savior as he walked in with a cheery attitude. Well...they say "Savior"...but something didn't feel quite so right. In fact, Akarii couldn't really remember if he actually saved her or not...
And if he had...
How did he do it? She often wondered this...and...
From what?
"I see you're off in lala-land again, Akarii." he chuckled patting the girl's head. The gesture seemed affectionate...however she couldn't help but feel eerie chills that she just simply couldn't explain. She only stared back in a daze while internally screaming. Every alarm in her body went off, and yet, Akarii couldn't seem to find her body reacting to the warnings that her mind was screaming.
What is this!?
She thought to herself.
"Forgive her, Sayer...she just woke up." Akiza stepped between them, covering for her once again.
"Of course, all is forgiven." he laughed light heartedly, "Akarii has always been this way hasn't she? Sometimes it's hard to tell whenever she's awake or asleep." he joked, "Jest aside, Akiza, could you leave us for a moment? There are some matters I wish to discuss with her..."
"Of course, Sayer." she gave an awkward look as she left. Akarii couldn't tell if it was concern or confusion. All she could do was desprately beg within her own mind as each hair on her body stood on end as Akiza walked away, leaving them alone, yet internally begging her not to. Something just didn't feel right...yet somehow, Akarii's body still didn't react to the alarm signals in her mind. It was an odd state of presence. As though She were awake inside, but the outside remained sleeping.
"Akarii...look into my eyes, will you?" He placed a gloved hand to her face and gently cupped her cheek as he tilted her head up so that their eyes would meet. Once they did, she felt frozen in place.
"How are you feeling?" He wore a look of seeming concern...yet somehow, his eyes still felt sharp, and cold, like they pierced through her body, keeping her in place.
"I...am just a little tired." she spoke softly, feeling the dizziness weigh heavily in her mind.
"I see, well, that's to be expected...you did have a hard training session with Seria yesterday." he sighed and smiled warmly, "However, I need you to focus for me this moment, all right?"
"Understood, Sayer..."
"Good girl, now here are your orders for The Arcadia Movement's next move..." he grinned as he gently released her. The Arcadia Movement was the name of this place. Though it seemed to be more of a cult, a haven for psychics and their dueling talents. Psychics...and yet Akarii's presence there seemed to have its own special role that even she was unaware of.
" As you know Sector Security will be hosting an event...the Fortune Cup."
Sector Security...
For whatever reason, she felt a burning anger within whenever they are mentioned. Images of another faded familiar face flashes across her memory bank. She didn't know who he was...yet she did... somehow. One thing she did know...was that he was the reason...
Kai is the reason...
I hate Sector Security so much...
"Apparently a large number of talented duelists are to be gathered here to participate in this tournament..." Sayer gritted his teeth, "Damn securities...I can't let them do as they please so easily can I?" he huffed, "Surely they are up to something..." he mumbled,"And that my dear, is where you will come in."
"Me, sir?" she looked to him with confusion in her faded amber colored eyes. "What purpose can I serve for this?"
"Well you see, my little protege...Our very own Akiza has been invited to participate in this event."
"She has?"
"Indeed she has...and you two are such dear friends, are you not?"
She felt her body twitch in response to this claim.
"Surely you wouldn't allow anything bad to befall her...right?"
"Of course not, Sayer..."
Kiki...Akiza...
She was the first to welcome me here when I joined.
I don't remember much else than staying close to her...
She is a familiar face in the present that I can grasp and hold onto...
However, wheather this made us friends or not, I'm not entirely sure...
"So what I need from you, Akarii, is a simple task." he spoke softly as he approached her in heavy step. "I need you to infiltrate the event hall to support her. Find out any scheme those securities may be hatching, and report any and all information to me!"
"Yes, Sayer...as you wish."
"Good girl, Akarii..." he grinned and placed his palm upon her head, "Then...I will see you soon."
