Chapter 1: The Perfect Fit

Santana's POV

My roommates and I are spending the whole afternoon today interviewing candidates for a new roommate. It used to be the 4 of us, me and 3 good friends of mine, Mike, Artie and Sam. However, Mike has recently just moved in with his girlfriend Tina so that just leaves me, Sam and Artie. We're not exactly flush with the cash since we're all still paying off a few debts from college etc. so we can't get by just as a 3 so we need the rent of a 4th person.

Mike is joining us here today just to help out and to see what kind of person could be his replacement so to speak. Also, we feel he might be able to give a bit more of an impartial decision on each candidate since he doesn't live here anymore compared to my roommates and I. Artie, Sam and I all have different views on what kind of roommate we want so we feel we need Mike there to give an outside perspective.

"Are you all almost ready?" I ask my friends. The first person should be arriving any minute now. In fact, he probably should have been here by now.

"Yeah we're good to go" Sam states.

"Our first candidate is called Ross" I tell the boys as we get seated on the couch with our pens and paper, ready to take notes on each person we interview.

"I guess punctuality isn't his strong point" Artie says as he looks at his watch. "I'm not sure if that's a great look for him" he states.

"He wants to live with us Artie, not work for us so I don't see how lateness would really affect us" Sam points out.

"I'm just saying it doesn't paint a very good picture when someone can't turn up to an appointment on time. You question their character when they do that so I already don't really like him" Artie replies.

"Maybe we should give him a call then and see if he's still coming?" Mike suggests.

"I suppose we could because there is no point sitting here waiting when we have other people to meet and find the perfect match for us" I say.

I'm just dialling the number into my phone when we hear a knock at the door. I quickly put my phone away and tell the guys I'll answer the door. I can only assume it's going to be Ross on the other side of the door. I stand up and straighten out my dress before making my way over to the door and opening it up. As soon as I do, the man turns around and gives me a smirk before winking at me. Yeah, I already know my answer to whether I want him living here or not.

"You must be Ross, in you come" I say while opening the door wider to let him walk inside. Even though I don't like the guy already, I need to give him a fair shot especially since the boys haven't met him properly yet.

"Hi, I'm Sam and this is Artie and Mike" Sam says while introducing Ross.

"Nice to meet you all" Ross smiles. "And who might you be?" he turns around and gives me another wink.

"I'm Santana and stop winking at me" I say while rolling my eyes. I'm in no mood for young guys trying to flirt with me.

"So, who all lives here then?" Ross asks as we all take a seat.

"Sam and Artie here do but I don't. I'm actually the guy who has just moved out so you'll be taking my room. I'm just here to help my friends find the perfect roommate" Mike explains.

"Ok and what about you?" Ross asks, looking at me again.

"What about me?" I question.

"Do you live here too?" Ross asks.

"I do" I nod.

"Nice" Ross smirks at me, once again. Man, this guy is about to get a slap sometime soon.

"Ok, easy" I say while shaking my head. This really is not the kind of person I want to share my apartment with.

"I'm just saying, the appeal of this apartment is looking even better right now" Ross shrugs.

"Ok wrong team buddy so let's just calm down" I say in annoyance.

"Wrong team, what do you mean?" Ross asks confused.

"I'm a lesbian so I'm not into you. Even if I was into guys, you'd be the last guy I'd ever hook up with" I point out.

"Ok, fair enough. You and I would make a pretty hot pairing though" Ross tells me.

"Ok Ross, I think we should change the subject because you're not coming across very well right now" Mike states.

"I'm just giving Santana a compliment. I thought girls usually appreciated that?" Ross shrugs.

"We girls do like compliments but we don't like people trying to flirt with us when we don't want to flirt with them. You didn't know me at the start so fair enough for the first comment but I've made it clear now that I'm not interested so you should take that as a sign to stop" I state.

"Ok" Ross nods.

"Ok Ross, tell us a bit about yourself and why you want to move in with us" Artie says.

"I'm 21 and I've just moved out here due to work. I got a new job a few weeks ago and so far I've just been staying with a friend but I need to find somewhere else to stay. My friend is looking to move in with his girlfriend soon so he won't be living in his apartment much longer" Ross explains.

"I get that" Sam nods. "So what kind of things are you interested in? What do you do in your free time and do you have any hobbies?" he asks.

"With my new job then I've been working a lot of hours but I suppose when I do have free time, I would say I mainly either hang out with friends or watch sports" Ross replies.

"I love sports man" Sam states excitedly.

"I played football in school, did you?" Ross asks.

"I did but I wasn't quite good enough to make it into a career" Sam replies.

After a talk with Ross, we tell him we'll be in touch soon and then he leaves. All 4 of us then make some notes about him just so we remember a bit about him. I then get us some fresh drinks before joining the guys again. We're now just waiting on the next person to arrive. We've got a few minutes to spare though because we left a good amount of time in between interviews since we didn't know how long they'd take. We didn't want everyone turning up at once so it was better to be safe than sorry.

"Our next interviewee is a girl" Artie points out.

"Excellent" I say with a smirk.

"Come on Santana, be respectful" Artie frowns at me.

"Ok so when Sam makes comments about wanting to have sex with random girls in bars it's ok but I mention I like the thought of living with another girl, I'm in the wrong?" I question.

"It's not the thought of having another girl around you like, it's the thought of what could happen with you and another girl living here that you like" Sam states.

"No it's not. It's about time we got a girl living here because I am sick of living with thrown grown men who are pigs so it'll be nice to have a girl around who shares the same thoughts as me" I reply. I want another girl around here because we can share things and she'll be clean unlike the lazy asses Sam and Artie. Mike was just as bad but I can't complain about him since he's moved out now.

"Maybe that is one reason for wanting a female roommate but you are very transparent sometimes Santana so we know you're hoping for someone hot you can hook up with" Artie says.

"Ok maybe so but you can't deny you and Sam are hoping for it too" I point out.

"I suppose we kind of are" Sam shrugs.

"We can't all compete so how do we get to decide who gets to ask her out?" I ask. I know we've not even met any girls yet but I don't really have a specific type, I like all girls, so I'm open to asking any of them out.

"I guess we just need to ask her if she's into guys or girls first and that'll narrow down the decision. I mean if she's not into girls then you're out of the running Santana" Artie shrugs.

"Not necessarily because she might be won over by my wonderful personality and hot looks" I state. Even if she was straight, it doesn't mean she couldn't fall for any person, boy or girl, when she really got to know them and connected with them.

"Look, how about you 3 all make a deal where none of you get to hook up with a new roommate because I think it'll complicate things" Mike shrugs.

"Why did we even ask you to help because you don't live here anymore?" I say while throwing Mike a glare. I am single and have been for some time so I am not about to get someone to ruin my chances of getting with a beautiful woman.

"I think it would just make sense to do that because you also don't want the new roommate to feel uncomfortable because chances are, she won't be into any of you" Mike replies.

"I guess it would make sense to all agree not to go after the new roommate if we do pick a girl" I say with a sigh. As much as it'll annoy me, maybe it is for the best. Although the only problem there is that I tend to want things more when I know I can't have them.

We talk amongst ourselves for a few more minutes before we hear a knock at the door. Artie decides he'll get the door this time. Sam was quite eager to answer the door as well since we all know it's going to be a girl but Mike told him he could answer the door the next time. We're all sitting down with all the candidates anyway so it really doesn't make much difference who actually answers and who doesn't because we'll all get a chance to meet them.

"Hi Daisy" Artie says while leading Daisy into the apartment.

"It's a lovely place you have here" Daisy says as she walks further into the apartment.

"It was just a boring loft when we moved in but after I put my own stamp on things, it became much nicer" I tell her. "I'm Santana by the way, one of the roommates" I say as I hold out my hand to her to shake.

"It's nice to meet you" Daisy smiles.

After we all introduce ourselves and explain who all lives here, Mike makes some coffee for Daisy while us roommates all start getting to know her. She seems like a really nice person and she has a full-time job meaning she can afford her share of the rent so we're confident she would be a good addition to our place. She does seem quite a reserved person though which worries me a little because I can be loud and outspoken so I wouldn't want her to feel overwhelmed by all of us.

"So, do you have any pets, daisy?" I ask. Ideally we'd rather the new roommate didn't have pets but it's not a complete dealbreaker so we could work with it.

"I have 3 cats actually. Do you all like cats?" Daisy asks hopefully.

"Uh…not really" I say apologetically. I'm not much of an animal person but if I had to choose, it'd be a dog before a cat.

"Yeah Santana prefers pussies" Sam states.

"Sam!" I exclaim loudly. "Don't be so vulgar" I say while shaking my head. I don't think that was an appropriate thing to say whether he just meant to joke or not.

"I'm just messing" Sam laughs.

"I don't understand because cats and pussycats are the same thing" Daisy points out.

"I have to apologise for my friend here. You see I'm a lesbian so he assumed it would be funny to say what he did but it wasn't funny at all for numerous reasons. Not only was it rude to me but it was also rude to you to make you uncomfortable when you were only asking a normal question" I say sincerely. This poor girl looks so awkward right now.

"Um…I don't really think this would be the best fit for me so I should probably just go now. Thanks for the chance anyway" Daisy says before rushing towards the door and quickly exiting.

"Well done you two, you scared her off" Artie says while shaking his head at Sam and I.

"Excuse me, Sam made the remark. I didn't do anything wrong" I say defensively. I thought I was very polite to her the whole time and she didn't seem nervous around me apart from a little shy but that's not a bad thing to be quiet.

"Mentioning you were a lesbian maybe scared her away" Sam shrugs.

"Fuck off Sam" I glare at him. I know there are people out there that don't agree with same sex relationships but it doesn't mean he can joke about it like that.

We take a short break for the next little while since Daisy left earlier than anticipated so we didn't have anyone else to interview just yet. I check a few work emails during my time but the guys don't really do anything at all which infuriates me. I had been asking them all morning to clear away their breakfast dishes but they told me they would do it later. It's later now and they have nothing to do so I don't know why they can't get tidied up now.

"Oh, that must be our next candidate" I say as we hear a knock at the door as we all reconvene on the couch again.

"It must be" Artie nods as Sam answer the door.

"Hi Charlie, in you come" Sam smiles while showing Charlie into the apartment. "I'm Sam and these are my roommates Artie and Santana, and then we have our friend Mike over there" he says introducing us all.

"Wow, you have a great body if you don't mind me saying" I say with a smile as I get a good look at him for the first time.

"Thank you" Charlie smiles back.

"She's gay by the way before you get your hopes up" Artie tells Charlie.

"Ok, Artie" I say while shaking my head. I'm not one who likes to hide who they are but coming out to every single applicant today has been a bit much so I don't always want to have to lead with that fact. I was merely pointing out he looked good, it did not mean I was attracted to him.

"So, what do you do Charlie?" Mike asks.

"I work in construction actually but I'm good at fixing anything really" Charlie states. "If you have anything broken around here then I'd be a very useful roommate" he smirks.

"Are you trying to persuade us already, are you?" I laugh.

"I guess" Charlie smiles.

"Santana, what are you doing?" Artie mumbles to me.

"What do you mean?" I say confused.

"It's like you're trying to flirt with him or something which is weird because he's a guy and you like girls" Artie replies.

"I'm not flirting, I'm being friendly. He's one of the few guys today that hasn't tried to flirt with me so I'm just trying to get to know him since he's one of the better candidates" I point out. If I only get one say in who lives with us then it's that they can't hit on me so I'm getting to know Charlie since he's the better of a bad bunch so to speak.

"Ok, fair enough" Artie nods.

After talking with Charlie for a while, he leaves and we continue on with interviewing other applicants. Things just aren't going as I thought they would be. There is no one really that is sticking out to me that would be the perfect roommate for us. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice people but they're just something lacking in them. I definitely don't want the guys who have been hitting on me but even the nicer ones just aren't doing it for me either so I don't know what we're going to do. We've only got one person left to talk to and unfortunately, I'm just not expecting anything great. It really would be a miracle if this last person came and just blew us away.

"Ok, next and final candidate for the day" I say as I walk towards the door after hearing someone knock on it. I take a deep breath to prepare myself before finally opening it.

"Hi" the blonde says happily as she smiles at me.

"Uh…hi" I say off-guard. I don't know why but this woman has really taken my breath away. Her eyes are beautiful, I could just get lost in them. Also, there's just some comfortability and easiness about the way she looked at me and smiled.

"I'm Brittany Pierce, I'm here about the room to rent" she replies.

"Yes of course, please come in" I smile while moving away from the door to let her in. We then walk over to the couch and take a seat. "I'm Santana by the way" I say while shaking her hand.

"It's great to meet you" she replies.

"Hi I'm Artie and this is Sam. We're the other two roommates and this is our friend Mike who used to live here with us but doesn't anymore" Artie states.

"Am I taking your room then Mike if I'm successful today?" Brittany asks.

"You would be" Mike smiles.

"So, before we start, can I get you a drink Brittany?" I ask.

"A glass of wine would be good please" Brittany replies.

"Oh…uh…" I don't know what to say because I don't think that's appropriate right now.

"I'm kidding, don't worry" Brittany smiles. "I'm sorry, I tend to try and make light of a situation and joke when I'm nervous" she admits.

"That's ok" I smile. Man, I think I like this woman already. "To be honest we'd all love to have a glass of wine right now after the exhausting day we've had but we shouldn't because we need to keep a clear head to focus" I explain.

"Tough day has it been?" Brittany asks.

"You could say that, yeah" I smile. God why can't I stop smiling at this girl. "No offence but we've had some dull people today wanting the room or guys that think they can hit on me just because I'm a girl" I add.

"Not to toot my own horn but I wouldn't say I'm in either of those categories so hopefully I'm in with a chance then" Brittany replies.

"Maybe" I nod. "So, a drink then, maybe some coffee?" I ask.

"Coffee would be great" Brittany tells me.

"I'll be back in a second then" I say before dashing off to the kitchen to make some coffee. I barely had my ass off the couch before I saw the guys move closer to Brittany and begin talking to her and telling her she's hot.

"So, tells us about yourself Brittany" I hear Sam say.

"Uh…maybe we should wait for Santana so she can get to know me too" Brittany replies. Man, I like this woman already. It can be a lot as the only girl when trying to get people to respect me just the same as the guys so I like that she notices I'm just as important as the guys.

"She'll be back in a second so it's fine to start without her" Artie shrugs.

"If it's ok, I'd rather wait until she sits back down with us" Brittany replies. Yeah, this girl is amazing. I don't even know her yet but I know I'm going to like her.

"Ok, here we go" I say while walking back over to everyone with Brittany's coffee. "I never asked how you took it so I brought some milk and sugar over with me" I say as I set the things down in front of her.

"That's great, thank you" Brittany smiles.

"So, are you single Brittany?" Sam asks her.

"Oh uh…I didn't realise we would get so personal right off the bat" she says in surprise.

"We're just wondering in case you do have a boyfriend and we're likely to expect him to hang around here all the time" I explain.

"Ok well no there's no one like that going to be coming over all the time or anything" Brittany shakes her head.

"Does that mean you are single then?" Artie asks interested.

"That's not really our business right now. Let's get to know the girl first and see if she'll even be a perfect match for us before we start questioning her personal life" Mike states.

"Ok" Artie nods.

"So why do you need a place to rent?" I ask. "I mean like have you just moved here or did you have to move out of your last place for a reason" I elaborate.

"I've always lived around this area but recently I've had to move out of my previous address" Brittany replies.

"Why's that?" I ask interested.

"Actually this is probably going to answer the previous question as well" she tells us. "I was living with my boyfriend but I recently just broke up with him because I found out he was cheating on me. It was his apartment in the first place hence the reason I moved out rather than him" Brittany explains.

"That sucks" I say feeling bad for her. None of my exes have cheated on me as far as I'm aware so I don't know for sure how she's feeling but I can imagine it wouldn't be good.

"I mean I could move back in with my parents but I don't really want to. I want a bit more independence than that so I figured moving into an apartment would be better. I can't afford my own place right now so that's why I got in touch with you guys" she tells us.

"It makes sense" I smile. "I know after moving out of my family home and getting a taste for a bit more freedom then I couldn't go back to living with my mom and dad" I say.

"So, was this the first place you saw with a room to rent or did you find some other vacancies?" Mike asks.

"There are some back up options for me but your ad really made this place sound like a good fit for me so I guess I'm kinda pinning all my hopes on doing a good job today" Brittany says nervously.

"Only time will tell I guess" I smile.

"So, what do you do for a living Brittany?" Sam asks, changing the subject slightly.

"Nothing exciting actually, I just work in accounting" she shrugs.

"Full time or part time?" Artie asks. "I only ask just so we know if you'll be good for the rent" he adds.

"Yeah it's full time so don't worry; I can definitely pay the rent and whatever other things you guys need me to chip in for like food and stuff" Brittany states.

"That's good to know" I smile.

After a good talk with Brittany, we let her know we'll be in touch at some point and then she leaves. I have got to say, Brittany really brightened up my day. There was just something so down to earth about her. She wasn't arrogant but she knew what was right and wrong. She was also really polite and open about things which is good because we all really need to get to know each other if we're going to be living together. She also seemed to have her head screwed on so to speak which is good because I know she'll be on time with the rent and everything.

"So, who really stood out for you all then?" Mike asks us.

"I liked Charlie actually and Brittany" I say. I really preferred Brittany but if I seem too excited about her then I know the guys will say no so I need to play it cool. I need to put her name out there but not be so obvious about it at the same time.

"I liked Brittany too" Artie smirks.

"No Artie" Mike states seriously. "We've just said that whoever the roommate is, none of you can try and hook up with them" he adds.

"She was really beautiful though" Sam points out.

"I think the roommate should be a guy actually" Mike replies. "If it's a girl then all of you are going to want to try and hook up with her. You'll make her uncomfortable and she'll probably leave anyway so a guy is better because none of you would try and sleep with a guy" he explains.

"I vote Ross then" Sam states.

"No, not going to happen" I shake my head. "He was an absolute jerk. You only like him because he was into sports so you could talk to him about that since neither Artie nor I wish to discuss baseball all the time" I add.

"Football" Sam replies.

"Huh?" I say confused.

"I like football Santana not baseball" Sam tells me.

"Same difference" I roll my eyes at my roommate.

"No, not same difference Santana. They are two completely different sports" Sam says offendedly.

"They both involve balls, don't they?" I state.

"Enough with the silly argument about sports. Let's bring this back to the topic we're meant to discuss because I need to head home soon" Mike tells us.

"Has Tina got your dinner made waiting for you at home?" I tease.

"As a matter of fact Tina is cooking me dinner for when I get home" Mike shrugs.

"Whipped!" Artie states with a smirk.

"Hey, can I speak to you for a second Mike?" I ask.

"Sure" he shrugs. We go over to the side away from Artie and Sam to talk. "What's up?" he asks.

"I know you think a guy would be the better option and I know what you mean because it would make it easier for the 3 of us not to have a crush on a female roommate but I think we need a girl roommate. It's really quite a lot living with 3 guys so as a woman myself, I'd prefer to live with another girl" I explain.

"I guess that would make it fair if it was two guys and two girls" Mike states.

"Yeah it would" I nod.

Brittany's POV

I'm just doing some work right now but I'm anxiously sitting with my phone right next to me hoping I get a call soon. I've spoken to a few people recently about renting a room from them but no one seems to have gotten back to me yet so I'm getting worried. I just really need to find a more suitable place to live right now. I mean I have been crashing on the couch of my best friend for a couple of weeks now but it's not ideal. Mercedes has her own roommates so it's better if I find somewhere else to stay rather than move in with her because there isn't really room for me with them.

Mercedes had suggested she and I find somewhere together to live but she's settled where she is so I didn't want that. It would just be much easier for me to find somewhere right now than for the two of us to start from the beginning and have to look for apartments. Maybe when things settle down and I'm on a better standing then we could look into getting a place together or something. Right now, I just need to find something temporary.

"Hey" Mercedes says, walking into the room.

"Hey" I smile.

"We're just about to head out for some drinks, do you want to come?" she asks me.

"No I better not, thanks though" I reply.

"You don't need to stay home and wait on your phone ringing. You can come out with us and if it rings, just take the call outside" Mercedes tells me.

"I know but I'm just not in the mood for going out tonight. You all go and have fun though. I'll be fine here" I assure her.

"Ok well we'll see you later then" Mercedes says and then she and her roommates leave.

I'm just continuing to work when I see my phone flashing next to me. It's a number I don't recognise so it makes me excited and nervous at the same time. I'm really hoping it's about one of the rooms to rent. I'm excited that I might finally have a place to stay but I'm nervous that they're calling to say they've given it to someone else. I'm also slightly nervous that if I do have the room then I'm going to find it weird living with people I don't really know yet. I'm not going to waste anymore time though in finding out.

"Hello?" I answer the phone.

"Hi is that Brittany?" the person asks.

"Yeah this is her" I reply.

"It's Santana from yesterday" she tells me.

"Oh hey" I say happily. This is finally the moment of truth. I might finally have somewhere more suitable to stay for the next short while.

"How are you?" she asks me.

"I'm good" I reply. "Nervous but also a little bit excited to find out" I add.

"Ok well I won't keep you hanging on for much longer then" she says. "The boys and I would love it if you came and lived with us" she tells me enthusiastically.

"That's great, thank you so much" I say happily.

"Now before I can officially let you move in, I thought you and I should meet and talk first. We really want you to live with us because you were the best candidate but I feel like we should just go over a few things first just in case it turns out it's not the right match" Santana explains.

"Ok that seems fair enough" I say.

"We got to know you a lot yesterday but I feel like we didn't really give you a chance to know us that well so maybe you and I could talk first and if either one of us isn't feeling it then there's no harm done because you've not officially moved in yet" she states.

"That's completely ok with me so just let me know when and where you want to meet" I reply.

"I'm thinking tomorrow, are you free or are you working?" Santana asks.

"I'm not actually working tomorrow so tomorrow would be perfect" I say.

"Shall we meet for coffee then about 11am?" she asks.

"That works for me" I reply.

"Actually, how about you come to the apartment tomorrow and we can just have coffee there. Initially I was thinking it could be just the two of us but it's probably better Sam and Artie join us just so you get a chance to talk to them again before deciding if you want the room" she explains.

"That's cool. I will see you all around 11am tomorrow at the apartment" I say.

"Yeah, see you then. Take care Brittany" Santana says.

"You too, goodbye" I say and then we hang up.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

I am so excited about today because I might finally get to move in with Santana, Artie and Sam. As arranged, I'm going over to the apartment to have another informal meeting with them to just get to know each other a bit more and if all goes well then I get to live with them. I can't think of any reason why things wouldn't work out but I suppose it is better to do it this way before things are official and I'm sort of tied there for a while.

I've just arrived at the apartment building so I'm just making my way inside. I walk right up to the top where my prospective new apartment is. I loudly knock on the door and then wait on someone coming to answer it. I didn't want to just walk in since I don't actually live there yet. I'm waiting a few minutes outside as I hear some commotion from the other side of the door. I could be wrong but I think Artie, Sam and Santana are arguing over who gets to answer the door.

"Uh…hey guys, it's Brittany. Can someone let me in?" I say through the door.

"Sorry" Santana smiles as she opens the door for me.

"We were just having a discussion about something" Sam states.

"Yeah, I kinda heard" I reply.

"Anyway, come on in" Santana smiles again. "Artie has just made some coffee for everyone" she adds.

"Cool" I nod.

"We're all pretty sure this should go smoothly today but we did want to talk to you about a few things before we made anything official" Santana states as we all sit down.

"That's cool" I smile.

"Firstly, we just wanted to ask you if you follow a particular religion or have any specific religious beliefs" Santana says.

"I'm not hugely a religious person actually. I used to go to church when I was younger with my grandparents but I don't really anymore. That's not to say I don't have some beliefs about things though. I mean I believe in god" I reply.

"We're only asking in case we need to know about something specific that we need to respect. It's not that we're against religion because we're not" Santana replies.

"Ok cool" I nod.

"Now speaking of what we believe in, what is your stance on same sex marriages or relationships even?" Santana asks.

"I'm definitely all for it. Love is love at the end of the day, no matter what shape or form it comes in" I say honestly. "I don't discriminate in any way when it comes to relationships and who people are. We should all be free to be who we want to be" I add.

"That's really good to know" Santana says in relief.

"I think we can now safely say you'll move in with us" Artie smiles.

"But we've only been talking for 10 minutes so didn't you want to ask me a few more questions first before we all decided" I say confused.

"Not really. The only dealbreaker we had was regarding how you felt about the LGBT+ community" Sam replies.

"So that's important to you guys too then?" I ask.

"It's really important to me actually because I'm a lesbian" Santana tells me. "It's kind of the reason I wanted us to meet today so we could see where we stood because we didn't get a chance to talk about that yesterday. I wanted to make sure we could both be comfortable enough around each other to live together because if you were against that then I don't think this would work" she explains.

"Honestly I am completely ok and comfortable being around you" I smile. "Plus, I'd be a hypocrite if I wasn't ok with it" I add.

"I don't understand" Sam says confused.

"Even though my ex is a guy, I'm interested in both men and women actually" I say honestly.

"This makes me really happy because I really thought you were totally straight. I guess there is still some hope for me yet then" Santana smirks.

"Santana, what about the agreement" Artie states, looking over at Santana.

"I was just making a joke, calm down" Santana laughs.

"Wait what agreement?" I ask confused.

"Santana, Artie and I all signed a roommate agreement that we wouldn't try and hook up with whoever our new roommate was. It complicates things so it's better if we all agree that no one in here hooks up with each other" Sam explains.

"That's actually not a bad rule" I nod.

"You'll need to sign the agreement too now that you're going to be living with us" Artie points out.

"That's cool" I smile. "Just out of curiosity though, what would happen if two of us broke the rule?" I ask with a smirk. I'm not saying which person I'm thinking about though.

"There would be some consequences that could mean the two people involved would need to move out" Sam replies.

"Ok, fair enough" I nod.

After talking over things for a while more, it seems we're all on the same page. We all seem to agree that it would be a good move for me to move in which I'm so happy about. I didn't think anything would really be in the way after Santana told me I got the room but I was still nervous in case things didn't work out with us all. I won't actually move in for another couple of days though just with the way things have worked out. We've all got different work commitments and things the next day or so which means I need to wait a day longer to move in. I really don't mind though because the main thing is that I finally have somewhere else to go.

"Hey before you leave Brittany, let me give you a quick tour of the loft. I know it's mostly open plan so there's not much else to see but I can show you the bedrooms and the bathroom" Santana says.

"Sounds good" I smile.

"Ok, this first room here is Sam's" Santana says as she opens the door to the first bedroom. "He's not the tidiest roommate unfortunately so forgive the mess" she tells me.

"That's ok" I shrug. It doesn't really bother me if the mess is in his own bedroom since that's his space and not mine.

"There's not really much else to see so we'll move on to Artie's room" she states. She then shows me his room and then the bathroom.

"Can I guess which room is yours?" I say before she opens either of the last 2 doors.

"Ok, go ahead" Santana smiles.

"I think the one on my left is your room and the one on the right will be my new room" I guess.

"You are 100% correct. How did you know?" she asks surprised.

"I assumed the left would be yours because you're left-handed" I smile. "I'm kinda weird like that that I would do things like that" I shrug.

"You noticed I was left-handed, huh?" she smiles back.

"I noticed a whole lot about you when I first saw you and trust me it was all good" I smirk at her.

"Am I sensing you might like to ruin the roommate agreement with me and break the rules?" she asks, smirking back at me.

"Maybe I do, maybe I don't" I wink at her. "We'll never actually know though because I don't have anywhere else to stay so I need this place which means I can't break any rules" I add.

"You wouldn't mind breaking the terms of the agreement with one of us though, right?" Santana asks triumphantly, assuming she's right about it being her.

"One of you yes but I won't say who and like I say, you'll never know because I need a place to stay more than I need a hook up" I shrug.
